Abstract Achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires an overall and well-balanced achievement of all SDGs rather than cherry-picking a few. While it is vital to assess the evenness of SDGs achievement, such analysis, particularly on a global scale, is still evidently absent from the existing literature. To remedy such a scholarly gap, this paper measures the evenness of SDGs achievement for 193 countries from 2010 to 2019 by adapting the evenness assessment method originating from ecology and biodiversity literature. Our analyses regarding the country-level SDG evenness index scores (EIS) indicate a significant heterogeneity across countries. Global South countries usually underperform in the evenness of 17 goals, while a significant portion of Global North countries also suffer from the unbalanced developments in SDGs. By integrating the evenness measures into the conventional global SDG monitoring framework, this study identifies six development paths in pursuing the SDGs and shows that maintaining the overall SDGs improvements while balancing the development of each goal is practical but has not taken place in at least 35% of countries. We estimate that the SDG evenness and average performance could further increase by 3.5 p.p. and 2.1 p.p., or 74 percent and 50 percent of the growth in the baseline continue past paths scenario, respectively, if each country could follow the effective development path of frontier counterparts with similar income levels. Our SDG evenness measures, complemented by inter-temporal cross-country analyses, could inform policies and cooperation strategies to identify the weaknesses in sustainable development, boost effective growth, and protect unevenly developed countries. Future research could further develop these measures to provide deeper insights into achieving rapid and well-balanced development of SDGs at various levels.

Abstract Reducing carbon emissions and attaining sustainable economic, social, and environmental development are vital components of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Previous research has overlooked the influence of the digital economy on urban carbon decoupling. To bridge this gap, this study employs GIS software and econometric models for analyzing the spatial distribution and characteristics of the digital economy and carbon decoupling and also investigates the direct, heterogeneous, and spatial effects of the digital economy on carbon decoupling. This study reveals: (1) A lesser digital economy presence in the northeast and northwest, while more developed in the Southeast Coast and municipalities directly under the Central Government. Cities with weak carbon decoupling are concentrated in Northeast and North China. (2) The digital economy and the decoupling of urban carbon emissions have spatial correlation and agglomeration characteristics. (3) The digital economy can contribute to decoupling carbon emissions in cities. (4) Improved urban carbon decoupling by the digital economy in central, eastern, and non-resource-based cities. (5) Spatial spillover effect in urban carbon emissions decoupling, yet the digital economy worsens nearby cities’ carbon decoupling due to a siphon effect. That research indicates that the digital economy holds significant promise not only in advancing human progress, bridging the digital divide, and fostering social development but also in driving the decoupling of urban carbon emissions.

Abstract Liver X receptor (LXR) agonism has theoretical potential for treating NAFLD/NASH, but synthetic agonists induce hyperlipidemia in preclinical models. Desmosterol, which is converted by Δ24‐dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR24) into cholesterol, is a potent endogenous LXR agonist with anti‐inflammatory properties. We aimed to investigate the effects of DHCR24 inhibition on NAFLD/NASH development. Here, by using APOE*3‐Leiden. CETP mice, a well‐established translational model that develops diet‐induced human‐like NAFLD/NASH characteristics, we report that SH42, a published DHCR24 inhibitor, markedly increases desmosterol levels in liver and plasma, reduces hepatic lipid content and the steatosis score, and decreases plasma fatty acid and cholesteryl ester concentrations. Flow cytometry showed that SH42 decreases liver inflammation by preventing Kupffer cell activation and monocyte infiltration. LXRα deficiency completely abolishes these beneficial effects of SH42. Together, the inhibition of DHCR24 by SH42 prevents diet‐induced hepatic steatosis and inflammation in a strictly LXRα‐dependent manner without causing hyperlipidemia. Finally, we also showed that SH42 treatment decreased liver collagen content and plasma alanine transaminase levels in an established NAFLD model. In conclusion, we anticipate that pharmacological DHCR24 inhibition may represent a novel therapeutic strategy for treatment of NAFLD/NASH.

Semi-supervised object detection aims to enhance object detectors by utilizing a large number of unlabeled images, which has gained increasing attention in natural scenes. However, when these methods are directly applied to scenes with tiny objects, they face the challenge of selecting pseudo-labels with high localization quality due to the minuscule and blurred characteristics of these objects. To address this issue, we propose a novel method called semi-supervised tiny object detection (STOD). Firstly, to enhance the localization accuracy of pseudo-labels, we design a dense IoU-aware head that evaluates the quality of bounding box localization by incorporating additional predicted overlap values. Secondly, to mine more potential pseudo-labels, we propose a GMM-based multi-threshold pseudo-labels mining module that dynamically generates multiple thresholds using classification scores and overlap values to classify bounding boxes into strong positive and weak positive pseudo-labels. Lastly, we design the localization-aware weighting loss to incorporate the localization quality of both positive and negative samples in order to enhance the accuracy of pseudo-label localization. The experimental results show that STOD achieves comparable performance when compared to both fully and semi-supervised methods. Notably, on the VisDrone-Partial benchmark, STOD achieves outstanding results by outperforming our baseline model with improvements of 3.1 mAP, 5.7 A P 50 , and 3.0 A P 75 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In most practical engineering applications, the translating belt wraps around two fixed wheels. The boundary conditions of the dynamic model are typically specified as simply supported or fixed boundaries. In this paper, non-homogeneous boundaries are introduced by the support wheels. Utilizing the translating belt as the mechanical prototype, the vibration characteristics of translating Timoshenko beam models with non-homogeneous boundaries are investigated for the first time. The governing equations of Timoshenko beam are deduced by employing the generalized Hamilton's principle. The effects of parameters such as the radius of wheel and the length of belt on vibration characteristics including the equilibrium deformations, critical velocities, natural frequencies, and modes, are numerically calculated and analyzed. The numerical results indicate that the beam experiences deformation characterized by varying curvatures near the wheels. The radii of the wheels play a pivotal role in determining the change in trend of the relative difference between two beam models. Comparing the results unearths that the relative difference in equilibrium deformations between the two beam models is more pronounced with smaller-sized wheels. When the two wheels are of equal size, the critical velocities of both beam models reach their respective minima. In addition, the relative difference in natural frequencies between the two beam models exhibits nonlinear variation and can easily exceed 50%. Furthermore, as the axial velocities increase, the impact of non-homogeneous boundaries on modal shape of translating beam becomes more significant. Although dealing with non-homogeneous boundaries is challenging, beam models with non-homogeneous boundaries are more sensitive to parameters, and the differences between the two types of beams undergo some interesting variations under the influence of non-homogeneous boundaries. Expectile regression (ER) naturally extends the classical least squares to investigate heterogeneous effects of covariates on the distribution of the response variable. In this paper, we propose a penalized empirical likelihood (PEL) based ER estimator, which incorporates quadratic inference function and generalized estimating equation to construct the PEL procedure for longitudinal data. We investigate the asymptotic properties of the PEL estimator when the number of covariates is allowed to diverge as the sample size increases. Background: To evaluate the perioperative, oncological, and functional outcomes of reproductive organ-preserving radical cystectomy (ROPRC) compared to standard radical cystectomy (SRC) in the treatment of female bladder cancer. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in November 2023 across several scientific databases. We executed a systematic review and cumulative meta-analysis of the primary outcomes of interest, adhering to the PRISMA and AMSTAR guidelines. The study was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024501522). Results: The meta-analysis included 10 studies with a total of 2015 participants. ROPRC showed a significant reduction in operative time and postoperative fasting period compared to SRC (MD − 45.69, 95% CI − 78.91 ~ − 12.47, p = 0.007, and MD − 0.69, 95% CI − 1.25 ~ − 0.13, p = 0.02, respectively). Functional outcomes, both daytime continence rate (OR 4.94, 95% CI 1.53 ~ 15.91, p = 0.008) and nighttime continence rate (OR 5.91, 95% CI 1.94 ~ 18.01, p = 0.002), and sexual function measured by the Female Sexual Function Index (MD 5.72, 95% CI 0.19 ~ 11.26, p = 0.04), were significantly improved in the ROPRC group. There were no significant differences between ROPRC and SRC in terms of estimated blood loss, length of hospital stay, overall postoperative complications, minor complications or major complications. Oncologically, both procedures showed comparable outcomes with no significant differences in positive surgical margins, tumor recurrence rates, overall survival, cancer-specific survival, recurrence-free survival, or progression-free survival. Conclusions: ROPRC is a viable and effective alternative to SRC in female bladder cancer patients, offering enhanced functional outcomes and similar oncological safety. Recent advancements in offline reinforcement learning (offline RL) have leveraged the Q-ensemble approach to derive optimal policies from static datasets collected in the past. By increasing the batch size, a portion of Q-ensemble instances penalizing out-of-distribution (OOD) data can be replaced, significantly reducing the Q-ensemble size while maintaining comparable performance and expediting the algorithm's training. To further enhance the Q-ensembles' ability to penalize OOD data, a technique involving large batch punishment and a binary classification network was employed. This method differentiates in-distribution (ID) data from OOD data. For ID data, positive adjustments to Q values were made (reward-based adjustment), whereas negative adjustments (penalty-based adjustment) were applied for OOD data, which replaced some OOD data punishment within large Q-ensembles, reducing their size without compromising performance. For different tasks on the D4RL benchmark datasets, we selectively use one of its methods. Experimental results demonstrated that employing reward-based adjustment improved algorithm performance. Simultaneously, utilizing penalty-based adjustment reduced Q-ensemble size without compromising performance. In comparison to LB-SAC, this approach reduced average convergence time by 38% for datasets utilizing penalty-based adjustment, thanks to the introduction of a simpler binary classification network and a reduced number of Q networks. The nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like-receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a cytosolic multi-subunit protein complex, and recent studies have demonstrated the vital role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the pathological and physiological conditions, which cleaves gasdermin D to induce inflammatory cell death called pyroptosis and mediates the release of interleukin-1 beta and interleukin-18 in response to microbial infection or cellular injury. Over-activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome is associated with the pathogenesis of many disorders affecting bone and joints, including gouty arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and periodontitis. Moreover, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been discovered to facilitate the inhibition of NLRP3 and maybe ideal for treating bone and joint diseases. In this review, we implicate the structure and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome along with the detail on the involvement of NLRP3 inflammasome in bone and joint diseases pathology. In addition, we focused on MSCs and MSC-extracellular vesicles targeting NLRP3 inflammasomes in bone and joint diseases. Finally, the existing problems and future direction are also discussed. It is highly desirable to design efficient and stable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution/reduction reaction (OER/ORR) electrocatalysts for the development of renewable energy technologies. Herein, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were conducted to systematically investigate a series of TMNxO4−x-HTT (TM = Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt; HTT = hexahydroxy tetraazanaphthotetraphene) analogs of two-dimensional (2D) conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as potential electrocatalysts for the HER, OER and ORR. The thermodynamic and electrochemical stability simulations suggest that these designed catalysts are stable. Remarkably, CoO4-HTT, RhN3O1-HTT and IrN3O1-HTT are predicted to be the most promising catalysts for the HER, OER and ORR, respectively, surpassing the catalytic activity of corresponding benchmark catalysts. The volcano plots were established based on the scaling relationship of adsorption Gibbs free energy of intermediates. The results reveal that regulating combinations of metal active centers and local coordination environments could effectively balance the interaction strength between intermediates and catalysts, thus achieving optimal catalytic activity. Siliceous diatoms are one of the most prominent actors in the oceans, and they account for approximately 40% of the primary production and particulate organic carbon export flux. It is believed that changes in carbon flux caused by variations in diatom distribution can lead to significant climate shifts. Although the fundamental pathways of diatom-driven carbon sequestration have long been established, there are no reports of CaCO3 precipitation induced by marine diatom species. This manuscript introduces novel details regarding the enhancement of aragonite precipitation during photosynthesis in Skeletonema costatum in both artificial and natural seawater. Through direct measurements of cell surfaces via a pH microelectrode and zeta potential analyzer, it was determined that the diatom-mediated promotion of CaCO3 precipitation is achieved through the creation of specific microenvironments with concentrated [CO32−] and [Ca2+] and/or the dehydrating effect of adsorbed Ca2+. Based on this mechanism, it is highly plausible that diatom-mediated calcification could occur in the oceans, an assertion that was supported by the significant deviation of total alkalinity (TA) from the conservative TA-salinity mixing line during a Skeletonema costatum bloom in the East China Sea and other similar occurrences. The newly discovered calcification pathway establishes a link between particulate inorganic and organic carbon flux and thus helps in the reassessment of marine carbon export fluxes and CO2 sequestration efficiency. With the rapid development of urbanization level, the continuous expansion of urban areas and unreasonable planning have taken place in the underlying surface of the city. River and lake water systems, wetlands and green land have been occupied, and the impervious area has increased, which has destroyed the hydrological cycle of the city, leading to a series of urban water problems. The construction of a sponge city is an important measure for similar problems. Aquatic plants are the most important part of water ecological restoration technology. Their developed roots can absorb nutrients in the water. Moreover, using aquatic plants as the main body of water for ecological restoration can not only control the eutrophication of water, but also have a good landscape effect, and will not cause secondary pollution. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the problem of improving the sponge city environment by aquatic plants based on ecological restoration theory and analyze the problems and solutions in the process of sponge city environmental protection construction. In this paper, the research method of specific analysis was used to compare the data to achieve a conclusion. The results showed that the development mode of sponge construction in practical cities will effectively reduce surface runoff by 15% and rainfall and flood by 21%. It can also solve the problems of urban waterlogging, water ecosystem restoration and heat island effect mitigation. Therefore, it was of great significance to study the ecological mode of rainwater utilization in the construction of a sponge city, analyze the collection ways and different application modes, to relieve the pressure of urban water resources and promote the efficient and comprehensive utilization of water resources in China. We construct a quasi-conservative alternative WENO finite difference scheme respectively coupled with the global Lax-Friedrichs (AWENO-GLF) and the contact restored Harten-Lax-van Leer approximate Riemann solver (AWENO-HLLC) for solving compressible multicomponent flows. The mass equation, the momentum equation, and the energy equation are discretized by a fully conservative AWENO-GLF or AWENO-HLLC finite difference scheme from which a consistent nonconservative discretization of the topological equation is derived according to the velocity and pressure equilibrium principle proposed by Agrall (J Comput Phys 125:150–160, 1996). We prove that, coupling with the constructed scheme, WENO interpolations with common weights for conservative variables or standard WENO interpolations with independent weights for primitive quantities can maintain velocity and pressure equilibrium. Numerical examples demonstrate that AWENO-HLLC scheme is not only less dissipative but also less oscillatory than classical WENO-GLF scheme for compressible multicomponent flows. Accumulating animal studies have demonstrated associations between ambient air pollution (AP) and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), but relevant epidemiological evidence is limited. We evaluated the association of long-term exposure to AP with the risk of incident MAFLD in Northwest China. The average AP concentration between baseline and follow-up was used to assess individual exposure levels. Cox proportional hazard models and restricted cubic spline functions (RCS) were used to estimate the association of PM2.5 and its constituents with the risk of MAFLD and the dose–response relationship. Quantile g-computation was used to assess the joint effects of mixed exposure to air pollutants on MAFLD and the weights of the various pollutants. We observed 1516 cases of new-onset MAFLD, with an incidence of 10.89%. Increased exposure to pollutants was significantly associated with increased odds of MAFLD, with hazard ratios (HRs) of 2.93 (95% CI: 1.22, 7.00), 2.86 (1.44, 5.66), 7.55 (3.39, 16.84), 4.83 (1.89, 12.38), 3.35 (1.35, 8.34), 1.89 (1.02, 1.62) for each interquartile range increase in PM2.5, SO42−, NO3−, NH4+, OM, and BC, respectively. Stratified analyses suggested that females, frequent exercisers and never-drinkers were more susceptible to MAFLD associated with ambient PM2.5 and its constituents. Mixed exposure to SO42−, NO3−, NH4+, OM and BC was associated with an increased risk of MAFLD, and the weight of BC had the strongest effect on MAFLD. RNase H1 has been acknowledged as an endoribonuclease specializing in the internal degradation of the RNA moiety within RNA–DNA hybrids, and its ribonuclease activity is indispensable in multifaceted aspects of nucleic acid metabolism. However, the molecular mechanism underlying RNase H1-mediated hybrid cleavage remains inadequately elucidated. Herein, using single-molecule approaches, we probe the dynamics of the hybrid cleavage by Saccharomyces cerevisiae RNase H1. Remarkably, a single RNase H1 enzyme displays 3′-to-5′ exoribonuclease activity. The directional RNA degradation proceeds processively and yet discretely, wherein unwinding approximately 6-bp hybrids as a prerequisite for two consecutive 3-nt RNA excisions limits the overall rate within each catalytic cycle. Moreover, Replication Protein A (RPA) reinforces RNase H1's 3′-to-5′ nucleolytic rate and processivity and stimulates its 5′-to-3′ exoribonuclease activity. This stimulation is primarily realized through the pre-separation of the hybrids and consequently transfers RNase H1 to a bidirectional exoribonuclease, further potentiating its cleavage efficiency. These findings unveil unprecedented characteristics of an RNase and provide a dynamic view of RPA-enhanced processive hybrid cleavage by RNase H1. RNase H1 functions as an endonuclease degrading the RNA moiety within RNA–DNA hybrids. Here the authors find that RNase H1 displays 3′-to-5′ exonuclease activity. Cross-domain Recommendation (CDR) is an effective method for solving the cold-start problem in traditional recommendation systems. This technique transfers information from the source domain to the target domain, enabling personalized recommendations for cold-start users. Despite the prevalence of existing CDR methods, they often rely on a common preference bridge to convey information to all users, which may not capture complex and diverse preferences unique to each user. Additionally, these methods require direct interaction of user information between clients and servers, which can pose personal privacy concerns. To address these issues, we propose a personalized cross-domain preference bridge for each user using federated meta learning. Our approach trains a common preference bridge for all users using locally stored data and model information with federated learning. Then, a meta-learning network generates a personalized preference bridge for each user based on the common bridge. This approach improves the effectiveness of CDR and ensures user privacy. We conducted extensive experiments on two large datasets to demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed method. Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a disease with high incidence, limited therapies, and poor prognosis. The present study aims to investigate the effect of riboflavin on ALD and explore its potential therapeutic mechanisms. C57BL/6 mice were divided into the control, alcohol, and alcohol+ riboflavin groups. 16S rRNA-seq and RNA-seq analysis were utilized to analyze the polymorphism of intestinal microbiota and the transcriptome heterogeneity respectively. KEGG and GO enrichment analysis were performed. CIBERSORTx was applied to evaluate the immune cell infiltration level. Publicly available transcriptome data of ALD was enrolled and combined with the RNA-seq data to identify the immune subtypes of ALD. Pathological and histology analysis demonstrated that riboflavin reversed the progression of ALD. 16S rRNA-seq results showed that riboflavin could regulate alcohol-induced intestinal microbiota alteration. Intestinal microbiota polymorphism analysis indicated that VLIDP may contribute to the progression of ALD. Based on the VLIDP pathway, two subtypes were identified. Immune microenvironment analysis indicated that the upregulated inflammatory factors may be important regulators of ALD. In conclusion, intestinal microbiota homeostasis was associated with the protective effect of riboflavin against ALD, which was likely mediated by modulating inflammatory cell infiltration. Riboflavin emerges as a promising therapeutic candidate for the management of ALD. The rail profile milling process allows considerable thickness to be removed in a single pass. However, the residual waviness formation law after milling and its subsequent effect on rail performance remains uncertain. In this paper, the wavelength and wave height of the residual waviness are identified as the key characteristics. The relationship between milling speed and residual waviness is determined, and a numerical model of the residual waviness formed on the surface after milling is established based on the commonly used three milling speeds of 300, 600, and 1000 m/h, and its accuracy is verified using the parameters of the residual waviness detected by the milling experiments. A three-dimensional finite element analysis model of wheel-rail contact was employed to analyze the contact stresses and low fatigue cycles at a wheel load of 11.5 tons with no residual waviness on the rail profile surface and with three types of residual waviness, respectively. The results show that the residual waviness changes the wheel-rail contact position and the morphology of the contact area, reduces the maximum contact stress and increases the strain fatigue cycles. The application of elevated milling speeds reduces the wheel-rail contact stresses after milling, thereby increasing the low fatigue cycles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Digital audio workstations can be used to develop creative thinking in music students while practicing music production. This research aimed to study the effectiveness of the Pyramix software for the development of creative thinking and musical self-efficacy of Chinese music students. It enrolled 200 students with a mean age of 21.8 years. The effectiveness was determined through the comparison of pre-and post-test results in the experimental and control groups. Self-report measures were employed in the study: the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) for assessing creative thinking and the Musical Performance Self-Efficacy Scale (MPSES) for evaluating musical self-efficacy. In the experimental group, there was an increase in creative thinking in all five subscales during the post-test: originality, elaboration, abstractness, and resistance to premature completion increased by 19.26%, 18.23%, 11.04%, 10.40%, and 15.09%, respectively. The differences were significant and confirmed the effectiveness of using stations to develop creative thinking. However, their use did not have a positive effect on musical self-efficacy in terms of mastery experience, vicarious experience, and verbal/social persuasion. Intergroup differences were not significant; only the physiological state significantly increased by 8.72. This research is significant because it gives information on the effect of digital audio workstations in music education on the development of students' creative-thinking skills through the contribution to existing music knowledge and literature. Camellia oleifera is a typical dense and small economic oil fruit. Its traditional harvesting method relies on manual labor, which is inefficient and costly. It is of significance to develop automatic harvesting machinery, which relies on rapid and accurate detection of Camellia oleifera in natural and complex environment. In this study, a novel model named CenterNet-LW-SE was proposed. Based on the structure of CenterNet, the lightweight Deep Layer Aggregation was used as the feature extraction backbone and the Squeeze-and-Excitation module was embedded to enhance the ability of feature extracting. A total of 4700 images were used to train and test the algorithms. The precision, recall, AP 75 , F 1 , model size and detection speed of CenterNet-LW-SE were 94.70%, 87.90%, 90.00%, 91.17%, 65.65 MB and 5.03 fps, respectively. Compared with the original CenterNet its AP 75 was improved by 2.1%, its model size was reduced by 16.69%, and its average detection time on the development board was reduced by 30.40%. Zika virus, a mosquito-borne arbovirus, has repeatedly caused large pandemics with symptoms worsening from mild and self-limiting diseases to Guillain–Barré syndrome in adults and fetal microcephaly in newborns. In recent years, Zika virus diseases have posed a serious threat to human health. The shortage of susceptible small animal models makes it difficult to study pathogenic mechanisms and evaluate potential therapies for Zika virus infection. Therefore, we chose immunocompromised mice (AG129 mice) deficient in IFN-α/β and IFN-γ receptors, which can abolish the innate immune system that prevents Zika virus infection early. AG129 mice were infected with the Zika virus, and this mouse model exhibited replication dynamics, tissue tropism, pathological lesion and immune activation of the Zika virus. Our results suggest that the inoculum dose of Zika virus can affect the viral replication dynamics, cytokine responses and survival rate in AG129 mice. By testing the potential antiviral drug favipiravir, several critical indicators, including replication dynamics and survival rates, were identified in AG129 mice after Zika virus infection. It is suggested that the model is reliable for drug evaluation. In brief, this model provides a potential platform for studies of the infectivity, virulence, and pathogenesis of the Zika virus. Simultaneously achieving high mass loading and superior rate capability in electrodes is challenging due to their often mutually constrained nature, especially for pseudocapacitors for high-power density applications. Here, we report a robust porous polyaniline hydrogel (PPH) prepared using a facile ice-templated in situ polymerization approach. Owing to the conductive, robust, and porous nanostructures suitable for ultrafast electron and ion transport, the self-supporting pure polyaniline hydrogel electrode exhibits superior areal capacitance without sacrificing rate capability and gravimetric capacitance at an ultrahigh mass loading and notable current density. It achieves a high areal capacitance (15.2 F·cm−2 at 500 mA·cm−2) and excellent rate capability (~92.7% retention from 20 to 500 mA·cm−2) with an ultrahigh mass loading of 43.2 mg cm−2. Our polyaniline hydrogel highlights the potential of designing porous nanostructures to boost the performance of electrode materials and inspires the development of other ultrafast pseudocapacitive electrodes with ultrahigh loadings and fast charge/discharge capabilities. Dual-functional nanomaterial electrodes have the capability to satisfy the requirements for both sweat analysis and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), thereby enabling the integration of electrochemical sensing and hydrogen production. In this study, ZIF-67 cubes are synthesized on nickel foam (NF), while TiO2 is obtained through an annealing process. Subsequently, the ZIF-67@TiO2/MoS2 nanocomposite is fabricated on nickel foam via a hydrothermal method. This composite material exhibits exceptional photocatalytic properties and is also suitable for the detection of glucose in sweat. The glucose detection range spans from 10 nM to 10 mM with a sensitivity of 7.24 μA mM−1 cm−2 for a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 and a detection limit of 0.43 μM. Moreover, when utilized as a hydrogen evolution electrode, this material demonstrates a current density of 10 mA cm-2 at an overpotential of 118 mV, with a Tafel slope of 73 mV/dec. Phthalate isomers are key intermediates in the biodegradation of pollutants including waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics and plasticizers. So far, an increasing number of phthalate isomer-degrading strains have been isolated, and their degradation pathways show significant diversity. In this paper, we comprehensively review the current status of research on the degrading bacteria, degradation characteristics, aerobic and anaerobic degradation pathways, and degradation genes (clusters) of phthalate isomers, and discuss the current shortcomings and challenges. Moreover, the degradation process of phthalate isomers produces many important aromatic precursor molecules, which can be used to produce higher-value derivative chemicals, and the modification of their degradation pathways holds good prospects. Wood-based laminated composites with excellent strength and toughness have attracted much attention, but it is a challenge to process fast-growing natural poplar wood with poor mechanical properties into high-performance laminated composites without the use of adhesives. In this study, natural poplar wood was delignified and TEMPO-oxidized by a "top-down" strategy to obtain a wood scaffold with a cellulose content of up to 98%, which was then used as a substrate and impregnated with Ca2+ and PVA to form a large number of hydrogen and ionic bonds within the wood. Finally, under the action of hot pressing, laminated composites with high tensile strength (237 MPa), flexural strength (246 MPa) and impact toughness (50.45 KJ/m2) were obtained, which also displayed excellent thermal stability and water resistance. This work demonstrates that the utilization of renewable fast-growing poplar wood as a substrate and glue-free bonding method can produce low-cost, sustainable and high-performance wood-based laminated composites. Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) stabilization with molecular glues plays a crucial role in drug discovery, albeit with significant challenges. In this study, we propose a dual-site approach, targeting the PPI region and its dynamic surroundings. We conduct molecular dynamics simulations to identify critical sites on the PPI that stabilize the cyclin-dependent kinase 12 - DNA damage-binding protein 1 (CDK12-DDB1) complex, resulting in further cyclin K degradation. This exploration leads to the creation of LL-K12-18, a dual-site molecular glue, which enhances the glue properties to augment degradation kinetics and efficiency. Notably, LL-K12-18 demonstrates strong inhibition of gene transcription and anti-proliferative effects in tumor cells, showing significant potency improvements in MDA-MB-231 (88-fold) and MDA-MB-468 cells (307-fold) when compared to its precursor compound SR-4835. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder in children, characterized by social interaction, communication difficulties, and repetitive and stereotyped behaviors. Existing intervention methods have limitations, such as requiring long treatment periods and needing to be more convenient to implement. Extended Reality (XR) technology offers a virtual environment to enhance children's social, communication, and self-regulation skills. This paper compares XR theoretical models, application examples, and intervention effects. The study reveals that XR intervention therapy is mainly based on cognitive rehabilitation, teaching, and social-emotional learning theories. It utilizes algorithms, models, artificial intelligence (AI), eye-tracking, and other technologies for interaction, achieving diverse intervention outcomes. Participants showed effective improvement in competency barriers using XR-based multimodal interactive platforms. However, Mixed Reality (MR) technology still requires further development. Future research should explore multimsodal interaction technologies combining XR and AI, optimize models, prioritize the development of MR intervention scenarios, and sustain an optimal intervention level. Many disease resistance genes have been introgressed into wheat from its wild relatives. However, reduced recombination within the introgressed segments hinders the cloning of the introgressed genes. Here, we have cloned the powdery mildew resistance gene Pm13, which is introgressed into wheat from Aegilops longissima, using a method that combines physical mapping with radiation-induced chromosomal aberrations and transcriptome sequencing analysis of ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-induced loss-of-function mutants. Pm13 encodes a kinase fusion protein, designated MLKL-K, with an N-terminal domain of mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL_NTD domain) and a C-terminal serine/threonine kinase domain bridged by a brace. The resistance function of Pm13 is validated through transient and stable transgenic complementation assays. Transient over-expression analyses in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves and wheat protoplasts reveal that the fragment Brace-Kinase122-476 of MLKL-K is capable of inducing cell death, which is dependent on a functional kinase domain and the three α-helices in the brace region close to the N-terminus of the kinase domain. The powdery mildew resistance gene Pm13 was introgressed into wheat from Aegilops longissima. Purpose: To protect and improve the soil environment of the Songnen Plain, detailed identification of organic pollutant contamination features in the soil and the degree of contamination is required. The primary goals of this research are to measure the levels of organic pollutants detected in the soil of the Songnen Plain, to correlate the levels of organic pollutants with different land use practices, and to assess the environmental quality of the soil using various pollution indicators. Material and methods: Contaminated soil was collected in three types of areas: residential (n = 26), agricultural (n = 22), and industrial (n = 12) in the Songnen Plain of Jilin Province, at 0–20 cm and 20–40 cm depths. The concentrations of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, benzene hexachloride, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, benzo (a) pyrene (BaP), trichloromethane, tetrachloromethane, hexachlorobenzene, and atrazine in the soil samples were determined using gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer-mass spectrometer (GC-MS-MS), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results and discussion: Soil BaP had the highest concentration with a mean value of 20.59 ng/kg, followed by atrazine, hexachlorobenzene, benzene hexachloride, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), trichloromethane, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and tetrachloromethane with mean concentrations of 0.46, 0.44, 0.34, 0.28, 0.21, 0.14, 0.06, 0.03, and 0.02 ng/kg, respectively. Soil organic pollutants at all sampling sites did not exceed the secondary environmental quality standard values. The most serious soil contamination was found in landfill sites, followed by urban areas, industrial areas, and farmland areas. Conclusions: Soil contamination is more severe in locations where human activity is more prevalent. The subsoil can better reflect the characteristics of soil pollution in the area compared to the upper layer of soil. Although contamination is low in the research region, the presence of these pollutants must be taken seriously in order to maintain the quality and safety of agricultural products and human health. Purpose: To investigate the associations of choline, betaine, dimethylglycine (DMG), L-carnitine, and Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) with the risk of Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) as well as the markers of glucose homeostasis. Methods: We performed a case-control study including 200 diagnosed GDM cases and 200 controls matched by maternal age (±2 years) and gestational age (±2 weeks). Concentrations of serum metabolites were measured by the high-performance liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Results: Compared to the control group, GDM group had significantly lower serum betaine concentration and betaine/choline ratio, and higher DMG concentration. Furthermore, decreased betaine concentration and betaine/choline ratio, increased DMG concentration showed significant association with the risk of GDM. In addition, serum betaine concentrations were negatively associated with blood glucose levels at 1-h post-glucose load (OGTT-1h), and both betaine and L-carnitine concentrations were positively associated with 1,5-anhydroglucitol levels. Betaine/choline ratio was negatively associated with OGTT-1h and blood glucose levels at 2-h post-glucose load (OGTT-2h) and serum choline concentrations were negatively associated with fasting blood glucose and positively associated with OGTT-2h. Conclusion: Decreased serum betaine concentrations and betaine/choline ratio, and elevated DMG concentrations could be significant risk factors for GDM. Viral myocarditis (VMC) is the major reason for sudden cardiac death among both children and young adults. Of these, coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is the most common causative agent of myocarditis. Recently, the role of signaling pathways in the pathogenesis of VMC has been evaluated in several studies, which has provided a new perspective on identifying potential therapeutic targets for this hitherto incurable disease. In the present study, in vivo and in vitro experiments showed that CVB3 infection leads to increased Bim expression and triggers apoptosis. In addition, by knocking down Bim using RNAi, we further confirmed the biological function of Bim in apoptosis induced by CVB3 infection. We additionally found that Bim and forkhead box O1 class (FOXO1) inhibition significantly increased the viability of CVB3-infected cells while blocking viral replication and viral release. Moreover, CVB3-induced Bim expression was directly dependent on FOXO1 acetylation, which is catalyzed by the co-regulation of CBP and SirTs. Furthermore, the acetylation of FOXO1 was an important step in Bim activation and apoptosis induced by CVB3 infection. The findings of this study suggest that CVB3 infection induces apoptosis through the FOXO1 acetylation-Bim pathway, thus providing new insights for developing potential therapeutic targets for enteroviral myocarditis. Emerging studies indicate that oxidative stress may contribute to deficit syndrome (DS) in patients with schizophrenia. Homocysteine (Hcy) is a well-known marker and mediator of oxidative stress that exhibits tight associations with schizophrenia. However, no previous studies have assessed the relationship of DS with Hcy. This study evaluated the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and association of DS with Hcy in 491 patients with schizophrenia. Plasma levels of Hcy and other metabolic parameters were measured. Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale and the proxy scale for deficit syndrome were employed to assess psychiatric symptoms and DS. The logistic regression model was conducted to assess independent factors associated with DS, and the Area Under the Curve (AUC) was used to assess the performance of our model. There was a high incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia (58.8%) and DS (24.4%). Plasma Hcy levels were significantly higher in patients with DS. Age, Hcy levels, and psychiatric symptoms were independently associated with DS. The combination of these variables perfectly differentiated DS and non-DS patients with an AUC value of 0.89. Our study suggests that elevated Hcy levels may be related to DS. Routine monitoring of Hcy is essential and may facilitate early detection of DS in patients with schizophrenia. Hotspot driver mutations presented by human leukocyte antigens might be recognized by anti-tumor T cells. Based on their advantages of tumor-specificity and immunogenicity, neoantigens derived from hotspot mutations, such as PIK3CAH1047L, may serve as emerging targets for cancer immunotherapies. NetMHCpan V4.1 was utilized for predicting neoepitopes of PIK3CA hotspot mutation. Using in vitro stimulation, antigen-specific T cells targeting the HLA-A*11:01-restricted PIK3CA mutation were isolated from healthy donor-derived peripheral blood mononuclear cells. T cell receptors (TCRs) were cloned using single-cell PCR and sequencing. Their functionality was assessed through T cell activation markers, cytokine production and cytotoxic response to cancer cell lines pulsed with peptides or transduced genes of mutant PIK3CA. Immunogenic mutant antigens from PIK3CA and their corresponding CD8+ T cells were identified. These PIK3CA mutation-specific CD8+ T cells were subsequently enriched, and their TCRs were isolated. The TCR clones exhibited mutation-specific and HLA-restricted reactivity, demonstrating varying degrees of functional avidity. Identified TCR genes were transferred into CD8+ Jurkat cells and primary T cells deficient of endogenous TCRs. TCR-expressing cells demonstrated specific recognition and reactivity against the PIK3CAH1047L peptide presented by HLA-A*11:01-expressing K562 cells. Furthermore, mutation-specific TCR-T cells demonstrated an elevation in cytokine production and profound cytotoxic effects against HLA-A*11:01+ malignant cell lines harboring PIK3CAH1047L. Our data demonstrate the immunogenicity of an HLA-A*11:01-restricted PIK3CA hotspot mutation and its targeting therapeutic potential, together with promising candidates of TCR-T cell therapy. Neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) is an important treatment for patients with resectable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but neoadjuvant resistance affects the overall treatment outcome. Therefore, it is particularly important to accurately screen the population for NAT and explore the mechanism of resistance. Usually, different chemotherapy regimens cause different drug resistance mechanisms. Prior to combining immunotherapy with chemotherapy, extensive research has been conducted on previous drug resistance mechanisms. Currently, the mainstream NAT for ESCC involves chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy. We have witnessed the remarkable effect of this combination therapy; however, there are still a considerable number of patients whose tumor tissues show no change or even progress after NAT, and their drug resistance mechanisms remain unclear. Hence, we aim to identify relevant evidence that can distinguish and predict the effectiveness of NAT from a clinical perspective in order to provide a clinical basis for future screening of suitable populations for NAT and discovery of drug resistance mechanisms. Depression and anxiety significantly impact adolescent well-being. Previous research shows that friendship can protect against these mental health issues. However, it is not entirely clear how different dimensions of friendship relate to diverse symptoms of depression and anxiety in adolescents. In the present study, we used network analysis to explore the relationships between friendship quality and depression-anxiety symptoms. A total of 1528 adolescents participated in the study (46.80% boys, Mage = 15.64, SD = 1.60). The results found that anhedonia and regret were central in the depression and anxiety networks. The symptoms linking depression and anxiety are feelings of ineffectiveness in depression (a negative self-evaluation of one's ability) and low self-confidence in anxiety. Critically, jitteriness, conflicts and betrayals, interpersonal problems (i.e., difficulty in interaction with people), and intimate exchanges emerged as key nodes linking friendship quality with the network of depression-anxiety symptoms. These findings suggest that strengthening the friendship quality, especially in managing conflict and increasing intimacy, may effectively prevent and intervene against anxiety and depression in adolescents. Purpose: The utilization of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in studying the mechanisms and treatment of chronic pain has gained significant popularity. However, there is currently a dearth of literature conducting bibliometric analysis on fMRI studies focused on chronic pain. Methods: All the literature included in this study was obtained from the Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection. We used CiteSpace and VOSviewer to analyze publications, authors, countries or regions, institutions, journals, references and keywords. Additionally, we evaluated the timeline and burst analysis of keywords, as well as the timeline and burst analysis of references. The search was conducted from 2004 to 2023 and completed within a single day on October 4th, 2023. Results: A total of 1,327 articles were retrieved. The annual publication shows an overall increasing trend. The United States has the highest number of publications and the main contributing institution is Harvard University. The journal PAIN produces the most articles. In recent years, resting-state fMRI, the prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, thalamus, and migraines have been researched hotspots of fMRI studies on chronic pain. Conclusions: This study provides an in-depth perspective on fMRI for chronic pain research, revealing key points, research hotspots and research trends, which offers valuable ideas for future research activities. It concludes with a summary of advances in clinical practice in this area, pointing out the need for critical evaluation of these findings in the light of guidelines and expert recommendations. Telemedicine and video-based diagnosis have raised significant concerns regarding the protection of facial privacy. Effective de-identification methods require the preservation of diagnostic information related to normal and pathological facial movements, which play a crucial role in the diagnosis of various movement, neurological, and psychiatric disorders. In this work, we have developed FaceMotionPreserve , a deep generative model-based approach that transforms patients' facial identities while preserving facial dynamics with a novel face dynamic similarity module to enhance facial landmark consistency. We collected test videos from patients with Parkinson's disease recruited via telemedicine for evaluation of model performance and clinical applicability. The performance of FaceMotionPreserve was quantitatively evaluated based on neurologist diagnostic consistency, critical facial behavior fidelity, and correlation of general facial dynamics. In addition, we further validated the robustness and advancements of our model in preserving medical information with clinical examination videos from a different cohort of patients. FaceMotionPreserve is applicable to real-time integration, safeguarding facial privacy while retaining crucial medical information associated with facial movements to address concerns in telemedicine, and facilitating safer and more collaborative medical data sharing. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a valuable genetic resource pool, and the high-altitude adaptation of Tibetan pigs is a classic example of the adaptive evolution of domestic animals. Here, we report the presence of Darwinian positive selection signatures in Tibetan pigs (TBPs) using 348 genome-wide datasets (127 whole-genome sequence datasets (WGSs) and 221 whole-genome single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip datasets). We characterized a high-confidence list of genetic signatures related response to high-altitude adaptation in Tibetan pigs, including 4,598 candidate SNPs and 131 candidate genes. Functional annotation and enrichment analysis revealed that 131 candidate genes are related to multiple systems and organs in Tibetan pigs. Notably, eight of the top ten novel genes, RALB, NBEA, LIFR, CLEC17A, PRIM2, CDH7, GK5 and FAM83B, were highlighted and associated with improved adaptive heart functions in Tibetan pigs high-altitude adaptation. Moreover, genome-wide association analysis revealed that 29 SNPs were involved in 13 candidate genes associated with at least one adaptive trait. In particular, among the top ten candidate genes, CLEC17A is related to a reduction in hemoglobin (HGB) in Tibetan pigs. Overall, our study provides a robust SNP/gene list involving genetic adaptation for Tibetan pig high-altitude adaptation, and it will be a valuable resource for future Tibetan pig studies. Background: Identifying the target of natural killer (NK) cells in colorectal cancer (CRC) is critical for optimising the clinical use of NK cell-mediated immunotherapy. Mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR) is associated with high immune cell infiltration and MHC Class I defects. Whether dMMR CRC responses to NK cell therapy remains unclear. Methods: MLH1, DR4, and DR5 knockout cell lines were established using CRISPR-Cas9 system. NK92-MI or NK cell isolated from BABL/C mice were used as effector cells against tumour cells. Inflammatory cytokines secretion by CRC cells was assessed via cytokine analysis. NK-cell-deficient/proficient animal models were used to validate the NK cell sensitivity. Results: We observed that dMMR CRC cells were more sensitive to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity than were mismatch-repair-proficient (pMMR) CRC cells. In dMMR CRC, Death receptor (DR)4/5 was upregulated and mediated sensitivity to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity. DR4/5-mediated secretion of interleukin -12 sustained NK cell viability in dMMR CRC. NK cell depletion induced dMMR CRC tumour growth, and NK cell transfer inhibited lung metastasis of dMMR CRC with DR4/5 expression in vivo. TP53 upregulated DR4/DR5 expression in dMMR CRC. Reaumuria soongarica is a xerophytic shrub belonging to the Tamaricaceae family. The species is widely distributed in the deserts of Central Asia and is characterized by its remarkable adaptability to saline and barren desert environments. Using PacBio long-read sequencing and Hi-C technologies, we assembled a chromosome-level genome of R. soongarica. The genome assembly has a size of 1.28 Gb with a scaffold N50 of 116.15 Mb, and approximately 1.25 Gb sequences were anchored in 11 pseudo-chromosomes. A completeness assessment of the assembled genome revealed a BUSCO score of 97.5% and an LTR Assembly Index of 12.37. R. soongarica genome had approximately 60.07% repeat sequences. In total, 21,791 protein-coding genes were predicted, of which 95.64% were functionally annotated. This high-quality genome will serve as a foundation for studying the genomic evolution and adaptive mechanisms to arid-saline environments in R. soongarica, facilitating the exploration and utilization of its unique genetic resources. This research delves into the transfer and loss of energy in a discrete mass when subjected to forced vibration. Using discrete element method (DEM), we analyzed the dynamic behavior of regular spherical granular assemblies and the energy distribution characteristics under different excitation frequencies and reduced accelerations. Moreover, the energy transfer and dissipation process of granular assemblies under different vibration states are studied using an experimental method. The results show that the granular assemblies will produce collision energy dissipation, thermal energy dissipation, acoustic energy dissipation and other forms of energy dissipation in the forced vibration state and the proportion of different energy dissipation under different excitation is given. The collision and friction of granular assemblies are the key to affecting other forms of energy dissipation. When the excitation increases, the energy dissipation forms are generated inside the granular assemblies, and the proportion of collision energy dissipation of the granular assemblies increases. The acoustic energy above 20 kHz occupies the main part of the acoustic energy dissipation. Thermal energy consumption always exists, which takes a long time to play a role. The granular also have other forms of energy loss, which is hard to be measured, including Rayleigh waves generated by granular collision. In this study, the relationship between the forced vibration state of the granular assemblies and the energy loss distribution is established. Various types of energy transfer and conversion distribution which further enriches the energy dissipation of discrete element calculation of the granular assemblies is discussed and provides a reference for the energy loss analysis of the granular assemblies. Objective: To develop a machine learning diagnostic model based on MMP7 and other serological testing indicators for early and efficient diagnosis of biliary atresia (BA). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patient information from those hospitalized for pathological jaundice at Beijing Children's Hospital between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023. Patients with serum MMP7, liver stiffness measurements, and other routine serological tests were included in the study. Six machine learning models were constructed, including logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), decision tree (DET), support vector machine classifier (SVC), neural network (MLP), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), to diagnose BA. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of the various models. Results: A total of 98 patients were included in the study, comprising 64 BA patients and 34 patients with other cholestatic liver diseases. Among the six machine learning models, the XGBoost algorithm model and RF algorithm model achieved the best predictive performance, with an AUROC of nearly 100% in both the training and validation sets. In the training set, these two algorithm models achieved an accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and AUROC of 1. Through model interpretation analysis, serum MMP7 levels, serum GGT levels, and acholic stools were identified as the most important indicators for diagnosing BA. The nomogram constructed based on the XGBoost algorithm model also demonstrated convenient and efficient diagnostic efficacy. Conclusion: Machine learning models, especially the XGBoost algorithm and RF algorithm models, constructed based on preoperative serum MMP7 and serological tests can diagnose BA more efficiently and accurately. Developing hydrogel actuators with excellent driving performance and extended lifespan remains challenging. Ti3C2Tx MXene, as a two-dimensional nanomaterial with a unique layered structure, has attracted widespread attention in flexible hydrogel actuators for its excellent optical absorption properties and tunable surface functionality. However, MXene faces difficulties in dispersion and is prone to oxidation, which significantly hinders the development and use of MXene-based hydrogel actuators. In this study, we fabricated a near-infrared light-driven hydrogel actuator with rapid photo responsiveness and antioxidative properties by incorporating modified MXene with antioxidant characteristics and the pore-forming agent polyvinyl alcohol into the poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) hydrogel system. We functionalized MXene nanosheets with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES), effectively enhancing antioxidative properties, preventing structural degradation caused by spontaneous oxidation, and improving surface properties. This enhanced the dispersion stability of MXene in the system and extended its lifespan from 7 days to over two weeks. The hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol chains served as drainage channels during hydrogel contraction, imparting the hydrogel with rapid driving capabilities (127.1° s−1). Additionally, leveraging the fast response characteristics, we designed an octopus-inspired light-driven soft swimmer and gripper. In mid-June to July 2023, North China witnessed extreme heatwaves, marked by intense near-surface warming with an advanced seasonal cycle of local air temperature. An unconventional upper-tropospheric cold vortex in early June, deviating from conventional "heat dome" patterns, preceded the heatwave extremes. The zonal SSTA gradient in Indo-Pacific warm pool initially suppressed Indian summer monsoon convection, which stimulated the cold vortex around North China via a tropical-extratropical teleconnection. This anomaly intensified the air-land thermal contrast, leading to increased sensible heating and reduced soil moisture in situ. The drier soil conditions maintained and further augmented sensible heating, escalating surface air temperature, and culminating in extraordinary heatwaves. The air column was then destabilized to mitigate the upper-level cold vortex. Historical records corroborate the extremity of the air-sea interactions in 2023. The ECMWF real-time subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) forecasts successfully capture the air-land feedback in both cold vortex and heatwave stages, albeit with an underestimation of heatwave intensity due to biases in soil moisture anomalies. Consequently, the initial cold vortex condition and air-land-sea interactions yield S2S predictability to the historic 2023 heatwaves in North China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In practice, simultaneous impact localization and time history reconstruction can hardly be achieved, due to the ill-posed and under-determined problems induced by the constrained and harsh measuring conditions. Although ℓ 1 regularization can be used to obtain sparse solutions, it tends to underestimate solution amplitudes as a biased estimator. To address this issue, a novel impact force identification method with ℓ p regularization is proposed in this paper, using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). By decomposing the complex primal problem into sub-problems solvable in parallel via proximal operators, ADMM can address the challenge effectively. To mitigate the sensitivity to regularization parameters, an adaptive regularization parameter is derived based on the K-sparsity strategy. Then, an ADMM-based sparse regularization method is developed, which is capable of handling ℓ p regularization with arbitrary p values using adaptively-updated parameters. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed method are validated on an aircraft skin-like composite structure. Additionally, an investigation into the optimal p value for achieving high-accuracy solutions via ℓ p regularization is conducted. It turns out that ℓ 0.6 regularization consistently yields sparser and more accurate solutions for impact force identification compared to the classic ℓ 1 regularization method. The impact force identification method proposed in this paper can simultaneously reconstruct impact time history with high accuracy and accurately localize the impact using an under-determined sensor configuration. Fe-Zn alloys for degradable vascular stents were prepared via electrodeposition technique. The effect of the concentration of the complexing agent sodium citrate (C6H5Na3O7·2H2O) in the plating solution on the solution state, alloy composition, and microstructure was investigated. The complexation mechanism of Fe3+, Fe2+ and Zn2+ by C6H5Na3O7·2H2O was analyzed using cyclic voltammetry. In vitro degradation properties of the alloy were evaluated through electrochemical and static immersion methods. Results showed that an increase of C6H5Na3O7·2H2O concentration led to a decrease in pH change of the plating solution, deposition rate, and cathodic current efficiency. With increasing concentration of C6H5Na3O7·2H2O, the reduction potential of Zn2+ gradually shifted positively while the reduction potential difference with Fe2+ decreased; this resulted in increased Zn content in the alloy and reduced grain size indicating promotion of co-deposition by C6H5Na3O7·2H2O. However, excessive sodium citrate caused an increase in the reduction potential difference between Fe2+ and Zn2+ leading to decreased Zn content as well as coarsened grains suggesting significant influence on alloy composition from complexing agent concentration. Alloys with different compositions exhibited a single α(Fe) phase with a (211) preferred orientation crystal plane. Polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectra, and long-term immersion experiments indicated that the corrosion sensitivity of the alloys increased and the corrosion rate elevated with an increase in Zn content in the alloys. These results indicate that reasonable control over the complexing agent, C6H5Na3O7·2H2O, is expected to obtain Fe-Zn materials for biodegradable stents with good microstructure and performances. MRI offers new opportunities for detailed visualization of the different layers of the esophageal wall, as well as early detection and accurate characterization of esophageal lesions. Staging of esophageal tumors including extramural extent of disease, and status of the adjacent organ can also be performed by MRI with higher accuracy compared to other imaging modalities including CT and esophageal endoscopy. Although MDCT appears to be the primary imaging modality that is indicated for preoperative staging of esophageal cancer to assess tumor resectability, MDCT is considered less accurate in T staging. This review aims to update radiologists about emerging imaging techniques and the imaging features of various esophageal masses, emphasizing the imaging features that differentiate between esophageal masses, demonstrating the critical role of MRI in esophageal masses. Critical relevance statement: MRI features may help differentiate mucosal high-grade neoplasia from early invasive squamous cell cancer of the esophagus, also esophageal GISTs from leiomyomas, and esophageal malignant melanoma has typical MR features.
