Abstract

The article discusses the study preventing the rise in rat brown adipose tissue mitochondrial respiration as a response to acute cold stress through cadmium chloride administration. According to medical studies, cold exposure induces a sharp rise in brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis in rats and other mammals. The authors stressed that this effect depends on the increase in BAT noradrenaline concentration and on the acceleration of thyroxine to triiodothyronine conversion stimulating the synthesis of several proteins essential for the production and dissipation of heat.
