Exploring the spatial coupling relationship and interaction mechanism between green urbanization (GU) and tourism competitiveness (TC) is of great significance for promoting urban sustainable development. However, the lack of research on the interaction mechanism between GU and TC limits the formulation of effective environmental management policy and urban planning. Taking 734 counties in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) as the study area, this paper analyzes the spatial coupling relationship between GU and TC on the basis of comprehensive evaluation of GU and TC. Then, the interactive mechanism between GU and TC is systematically discussed, and the synergistic development strategy of the two is proposed. The results show that the GU level presents a multicore circle structure, with provincial capitals, prefecture-level urban districts and economically developed counties in east-central regions as high-value centers. The TC at county scale presents a multi-center spatial structure. Additionally, there is a significant positive spatial coupling between GU and TC in the YRB. The analysis further reveals that green urbanization level, social progress, population development, infrastructure construction, economic development quality, and eco-environmental protection has a observably influence on TC. Tourism competitiveness, service competitiveness, location competitiveness, resource competitiveness, market competitiveness, environmental influence, and talent competitiveness has a observably influence on GU. TC can promote GU, and the improvement of green urbanization level can support the development of tourism competitiveness. According to the spatial zoning method, 734 counties are divided into 6 categories, and the coordinated development strategy of GU and TC for each type of district is proposed. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a role in the emergence and progression of several human tumors, including luminal B breast cancer (BC). The biological functions and potential mechanisms of lncRNA myocardial infarction-associated transcripts (MIAT) in luminal B BC, on the contrary, are unknown. In this work, we used UALCAN database analysis to find high expression of lncRNA MIAT in luminal BC tissues and also confirmed high levels of lncRNA MIAT expression in luminal B BC tissues and cells. In vitro knockdown of MIAT inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of BT474 cells. In addition, we found that miR-150-5p levels were significantly reduced in luminal B BC specimens and cells, and miR-150-5p levels were significantly increased when MIAT was knocked down. And TIMER database analysis showed that MIAT was positively associated with PDL1. Through bioinformatic tools and in vitro experiments, lncRNA MIAT could function as a competitive endogenous RNA (CeRNA) to further regulate programmed cell death ligand 1 (PDL1) expression by directly sponging miR-150-5p. In conclusion, our data suggest that MIAT, an oncogene, may sponge miR-150-5p to regulate PDL1 expression and affect proliferation, migration, and invasion in luminal B BC in vitro. A viscosity jump of one to two orders of magnitude in the lower mantle of Earth at 800–1,200-km depth is inferred from geoid inversions and slab-subducting speeds. This jump is known as the mid-mantle viscosity jump1,2. The mid-mantle viscosity jump is a key component of lower-mantle dynamics and evolution because it decelerates slab subduction3, accelerates plume ascent4 and inhibits chemical mixing5. However, because phase transitions of the main lower-mantle minerals do not occur at this depth, the origin of the viscosity jump remains unknown. Here we show that bridgmanite-enriched rocks in the deep lower mantle have a grain size that is more than one order of magnitude larger and a viscosity that is at least one order of magnitude higher than those of the overlying pyrolitic rocks. This contrast is sufficient to explain the mid-mantle viscosity jump1,2. The rapid growth in bridgmanite-enriched rocks at the early stage of the history of Earth and the resulting high viscosity account for their preservation against mantle convection5–7. The high Mg:Si ratio of the upper mantle relative to chondrites8, the anomalous 142Nd:144Nd, 182W:184W and 3He:4He isotopic ratios in hot-spot magmas9,10, the plume deflection4 and slab stagnation in the mid-mantle3 as well as the sparse observations of seismic anisotropy11,12 can be explained by the long-term preservation of bridgmanite-enriched rocks in the deep lower mantle as promoted by their fast grain growth.Bridgmanite-enriched rocks in the deep lower mantle of Earth have a larger grain size and higher viscosity than those of the overlying pyrolitic rocks, which explain the mid-mantle viscosity jump. In this study, we investigated the microstructural and luminescence characteristics of high-linearity ZnS:Cu2+,Cl− phosphor. Through conducting the method of high-temperature solid state reaction, we prepared the ZnS phosphors characterizing with two different doping concentrations of Cu2+ ions. The prepared two kinds of ZnS phosphors exhibit two coexisting forms of cubic phase and hexagonal phase, to which the concentration of Cu2+ imposes no influence on the microstructure of the phosphor. The average particle size is 2.68 ± 0.5 μm and the emission wavelength locating at approximate 460 nm attribute to the zinc vacancy. As the concentration of the Cu2+ ions increases, the energy bandgap, the fluorescence lifetime and the luminescence intensity decrease, causing noticeable concentration quenching. In addition, the linear correlation between the emission intensity and the current of the prepared phosphors is stronger than that of commercial ones. The prepared ZnS:Cu2+,Cl− phosphor with high linearity and short fluorescence lifetime has great potential to be applied in practical applications in the field of high-energy physics and astrophysical exploration. This commentary examines the laws and policies on reproduction adopted in New China since 1949 and reflects on how they have regulated womanhood and whether they have promoted gender equality. By doing so, it also demonstrates how the regulation of reproduction constructs the notion of an ideal womanhood in order to justify the state's enforcement of the population policy and its exercise of control over women's fertility. This study was designed to investigate the protective effects of puerarin (PUE), which work via the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, and oxidative stress in the premature ovarian failure (POF) model. Two-month-old female mice were randomly divided into four groups. One group was used as the control, and the other three groups were injected with cyclophosphamide and busulfan to create POF models. Two POF treatment groups were gavaged with 100 or 200 mg/kg PUE for 28 days. Next, the ovaries were fixed, and the numbers of different stage follicles were measured, and the ovarian surface epithelium (OSE) was collected. Oct4 and Mvh expression, Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway activity, the oxidative stress factors SOD2 and Nrf2, and the apoptosis-related proteins Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by IHC, RT-QPCR, and western blotting. We found that the number of follicles, Oct4 and Mvh expression, and Wnt/β-catenin-signaling activity were reduced in the POF groups (p < 0.05 or p < 0.001). After PUE treatment, the follicle number and the primordial follicle ratio increased (p < 0.01), while the atresia ratio decreased (p < 0.01). In addition, the expression levels of Oct4, Mvh, Wnt1, β-catenin, cyclin D1, SOD2, and Nrf2 showed obvious recovery compared with levels in the POF group (p < 0.01, p < 0.05, or p < 0.001). The Bcl-2/Bax ratio in the POF model had reduced by about 60% compared with the control group (p < 0.001) and improved by about 50% after PUE treatment (p < 0.001). In conclusion, PUE may improve the survival of female reproductive stem cells (FGSCs) and play a protective role against POF via a mechanism involving the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, as well as relieving oxidative stress. Bacterial biofilm infection is perplexing people's life. Systemic administration of antibiotics usually causes adverse effects and bacterial resistance. How to make antibacterial agents quickly penetrate and eradicate the biofilm without adverse effects is an urgent problem. Here, polyamine-functionalized carbon quantum dots (CQDs), abbreviated as CQD600, CQD1w and CQD2.5w, are synthesized by a simple hydrothermal treatment of citric acid and branched polyethyleneimine (bPEI) with different molecular weight (MW). It is found that the antibacterial activity is promoted with high MW of bPEI, which is due to the protonated amines on the surface of the CQDs. Moreover, in terms of eradicating mature Staphylococcus aureus biofilm, CQD2.5w possesses significantly higher activity than CQD600 and CQD1w because of stronger electrostatic interactions and longer surface coronas. Additionally, the cytotoxicity test exhibits the L929 cells can keep at high survival rates even treated with 500 µg mL−1 CQDs for 3 days. Ready-to-eat (RTE) foods have been considered to be reservoirs of antibiotic resistance bacteria, which constitute direct threat to human health, but the potential microbiological risks of RTE foods remain largely unexplored. In this study, the metagenomic approach was employed to characterize the comprehensive profiles of bacterial community and antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) in 18 RTE food samples (8 RTE meat, 7 RTE vegetables and 3 RTE fruit) in southern China. In total, the most abundant phyla in RTE foods were Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Cyanobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria. 204 ARG subtypes belonging to 18 ARG types were detected with an abundance range between 2.81 × 10−5 and 7.7 × 10−1 copy of ARG per copy of 16S rRNA gene. Multidrug-resistant genes were the most predominant ARG type in the RTE foods. Chloramphenicol, macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin, multidrug resistance, aminoglycoside, bacitracin, tetracycline and β-lactam resistance genes were dominant, which were also associated with antibiotics used extensively in human medicine or veterinary medicine/promoters. Variation partitioning analysis indicated that the join effect of bacterial community and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) played an important role in the resistome alteration. This study further deepens the comprehensive understanding of antibiotic resistome and the correlations among the antibiotic resistome, microbiota, and MGEs in the RTE foods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metros are critical infrastructure in big cities and evaluation of their safe operation is of increasing importance. To make a reasonable safety evaluation for the metro during operation, this paper establishes a rational safety evaluation model based on long-term monitoring data of Shanghai Metro Line 2. Four evaluation indicators, i.e., absolute settlement, relative curvature, deformation rate and curvature radius, are adopted. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy method are combined to determine the weights of the indicators. The risk level values at different mileage are calculated and five danger levels are defined accordingly to determine the safety state of Shanghai Metro Line 2, i.e., safe, relatively safe, critical, relatively dangerous, and dangerous. Safety evaluation of Shanghai Metro Line 2 shows that: 83.81% areas of Shanghai Metro Line 2 are in safe, relatively safe and critical states, while 15.63% and 0.57% areas are in relatively dangerous and dangerous states, respectively; the parts of Shanghai Metro Line 2 where the risk level value exceeds the critical value are mainly distributed around the mileage at 6.0–7.5 km and 8.5–11.0 km, and the risk level value peaks around the mileage at 7.3 km, in which high attention should be attached and relevant protective measures be taken; the sections with the high risk level value coincide with the distinctly deforming areas of the metro, indicating that this evaluation method is valid. Root-associated aerobic methanotrophs play an important role in regulating methane emissions from the wetlands. However, the influences of the plant genotype on root-associated methanotrophic structures, especially on active flora, remain poorly understood. Transcription of the pmoA gene, encoding particulate methane monooxygenase in methanotrophs, was analyzed by reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) of mRNA isolated from root samples of three emergent macrophytes, including Phragmites australis, Typha angustifolia, and Schoenoplectus triqueter (syn. Scirpus triqueter L.) from a eutrophic wetland. High-throughput sequencing of pmoA based on DNA and cDNA was used to analyze the methanotrophic community. Sequencing of cDNA pmoA amplicons confirmed that the structure of active methanotrophic was not always consistent with DNA. A type I methanotroph, Methylomonas, was the most active group in P. australis, whereas Methylocystis, a type II methanotroph, was the dominant group in S. triqueter. In T. angustifolia, these two types of methanotroph existed in similar proportions. However, at the DNA level, Methylomonas was predominant in the roots of all three plants. In addition, vegetation type could have a profound impact on root-associated methanotrophic community at both DNA and cDNA levels. These results indicate that members of the genera Methylomonas (type I) and Methylocystis (type II) can significantly contribute to aerobic methane oxidation in a eutrophic wetland. Soil heavy metal pollution has received increasing attention due to their toxicity to soil microorganisms. We have analyzed the effects of heavy metal pollution on ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) in soils in the vicinity of a tailings dam of Baotou region, China. Results showed that AOB were dominated with Nitrosomonas-like clusters, while AOA was dominated by group1.1b (Nitrososphaera cluster). Single Cd and Cr contents, as well as compound heavy metal pollution levels, had a significant negative impact on soil potential nitrification rate and both diversities of AOA and AOB. No clear relationship was found between any single heavy metal and abundance of AOA or AOB. But compound pollution could significantly decrease AOA abundance. The results indicated that heavy metal pollution had an obviously deleterious effect on the abundance, diversity, activity and composition of ammonia oxidizers in natural soils. The proverb 'women hold up half the sky' was created by the Maoist government 64 years ago in order to show that women in 'New China' have equal power and rights to their male peers. I selected three photographs for my FLaK zine and called them 'unwanted girls', 'battered wives' and 'inglorious women'. To examine the relevance of the proverb in Modern China, I will discuss three women-related problems behind these photographs and analyse their cultural and legal causes. By doing so, I aim to achieve two purposes-first, to help the reader have a better understanding of the problems of women in the region where one-fifth of the global population lives, and second, to argue that seemingly gender neutral law and policy can produce new and greater restrictions on women's freedom. Research on the incorporation of cutting-edge nano-antibacterial agent for designing dental materials with potent and long-lasting antibacterial property is demanding and provoking work. In this study, a novel resin-based dental material containing photocurable core-shell AgBr/cationic polymer nanocomposite (AgBr/BHPVP) was designed and developed. The shell of polymerizable cationic polymer not only provided non-releasing antibacterial capability for dental resins, but also had the potential to polymerize with other methacrylate monomers and prevented nanoparticles from aggregating in the resin matrix. As a result, incorporation of AgBr/BHPVP nanocomposites did not adversely affect the flexural strength and modulus but greatly increased the Vicker's hardness of resin disks. By continuing to release Ag ions without the impact of anaerobic environment, resins containing AgBr/BHPVP nanoparticles are particularly suitable to combat anaerobic cariogenic bacteria. By reason of the combined bactericidal effect of the contact-killing cationic polymers and the releasing-killing Ag ions, AgBr/BHPVP-containing resin disks had potent bactericidal activity against S. mutans. The long-lasting antibacterial activity was also achieved through the sustained release of Ag ions due to the core-shell structure of the nanocomposites. The results of macrophage cytotoxicity showed that the cell viability of dental resins loading less than 1.0 wt% AgBr/BHPVP was close to that of neat resins. The AgBr/BHPVP-containing dental resin with dual bactericidal capability and long term antimicrobial effect is a promising material aimed at preventing second caries and prolonging the longevity of resin composite restorations. In this work, a cationic polymer, N-alkylated poly (4-vinylpyridine) was applied for the surface functionalization of nanodiamond (ND). The facile route not only settled the problems of agglomeration and poor dispersion stability of ND but also rendered the nanomaterial antibacterial property. Chemical modification of the particles was confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and HNMR, and the cationic polymer contents were determined by TGA studies. The particle diameters and dispersity of functionalized NDs were investigated by TEM and DLS measurements. It was found that extremely tight core aggregates (100-200 nm) were broken into tiny nanoparticles (20-30 nm) through functionalization with NPVP-propyl or NPVP-hexyl, which gave stable and homogeneous functionalized ND particles in colloidal solution. The antibacterial tests against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus) and Gram-negative Escherichia coli ( E. coli) showed that the cationic polymer-modified ND exerted certain antibacterial activity. The FE-SEM images indicated that NPVP-hexyl-ND particles were attached to the cell wall surface of E. coli, which subsequently led to the formation of nanoscale holes on cell membrane and eventually the serious destruction of cell wall. We suspected that the interaction of NPVP-hexyl-ND with bacteria may come from the electrostatic interactions, the intermolecular and surface forces between functionalized nanoparticles and cell membranes, which may damage the outer membranes of bacteria and result in cell death. In this article, the appealing application of the CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure as the self-driven photodetector was presented based on a facile successive ionic layer absorption and reaction. Compared to CdS /Si planar based device, photocurrent illuminated with light (532 nm) to dark-current ratio was enhanced significantly for CdS/Si nanowire based detector. Measurements of time resolved responses at zero bias were conducted, and the result also demonstrated that CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure had a high photosensitivity and fast photo-response as the self-driven visible light photodetector. Additionally, the corresponding mechanism for the phenomenon was discussed, and it is believed that such a high photoresponse comes from the improved optical absorption as well as the good carrier transfer and collection capability. Currently, abortion can be lawfully performed in China at any gestational stage for a wide range of social and medical reasons. I critically explore the Chinese regulatory model of abortion in order to examine its practical effects on women. Although I focus on the post-Maoist abortion law, I also analyse the imperial Confucianism-dominated regulation and the Maoist ban on abortion in order to scrutinise the emergence of the notion of 'glorious motherhood'. By examining how 'glorious motherhood' is constructed and reinforced in the Chinese family planning context, I argue that the post-Maoist government intentionally made abortion 'law in the books' unrestrictive in order to impose its control over female fertility. As a result of this, women are persuaded and even forced to lead a 'glorious' maternal life, which means sacrificing themselves for the purpose of achieving the state's Malthusian and eugenic demographic goals. Furthermore, I argue that, in addition to exacerbating gender oppression, abortion law's embrace of the idea of 'glorious motherhood' also produces 'group oppression' of unmarried women and working-class women. SFLASH is an instance of the famous C* $$^{-}$$ multivariate public key cryptographic schemes and it was chosen by the NESSIE cryptographic project of the European Consortium in 2003 as a candidate signature algorithm used for digital signatures on limited-resource devices. Recently, a successful private key recovery attack on SFLASH was proposed by Bouillaguet, Fouque and Macario-Rat by uncovering the kernel properties of quadratic forms of the central map. The most expensive step in the attack is the calculation of kernel vectors of skew-symmetric matrices over a bivariate polynomial ring. Bouillaguet et al. proposed two methods to accomplish this computation. Both methods involve symbolic computation on bivariate polynomials. The first method computes characteristic polynomials of matrices of polynomials and is very expensive. The second method involves a Gröbner basis computation and so its complexity is difficult to estimate. In this paper, we show this critical step of calculating kernel vectors can be done by numerical computation on field elements instead of symbolic computation. Our method uses a nondeterministic interpolation of polynomial vectors called projective interpolation, and its complexity can be explicitly evaluated. Experiments show that it is much faster, making the total attack on SFLASH about 30 times faster (the critical step is about 100 times faster) than the first method of Bouillaguet et al. A simple, low-cost, post-black etching process atop the random pyramidal emitter has been proposed and investigated. The multi-scale texture is achieved by combining nanoporous layer formed by the post-black etching with micron-scale pyramid texture. Compared to the pre-black etched Si solar cells, our experiments clearly show the advantage of post-black etched texturing: it enables high blue response and improved conversion efficiency. As a result, the enhancement of 7.1 mA/cm on the short-circuit current density and improvement of 31 % in the conversion efficiency have been reached. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and dendritic cells (DCs) are believed to play a key role in the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases. However, their role and interactive mechanism remain uncertain. The aim of the present study is to investigate the mechanism of AGE- and DC-mediated heart failure. Time- and dose-dependent western blot and immunohistochemical analysis showed a significant upregulation in the expression of AGEs, receptor for AGEs (RAGE), and OX-62. Further hemodynamic and echocardiogram analysis revealed that AGEs mediate cardiac failure. Treatment with pioglitazone improved heart function by decreasing the expression of AGEs and OX-62 in the rats with myocardial infarction (MI) plus diabetes. AGEs induced the maturation of DCs in both time- and concentration-dependent manner with upregulation in RAGE and dendritic markers. Further, coculture of cardiomyocytes with DCs in the presence of AGEs significantly upregulated hypertrophy-associated genes as determined by real-time PCR. In conclusion, the present study shows clear evidence that AGEs promote heart failure via the maturation of DCs. Many studies proposed that cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) MspI polymorphism may be associated with endometrial cancer risk, but the findings from previous studies reported conflicting results. A meta-analysis of all relevant studies was performed to get a comprehensive assessment of the association between CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism and endometrial cancer risk. Eligible studies were searched in PubMed and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. The pooled odds ratios (ORs) with the corresponding 95 % confidence intervals (95 % CIs) were calculated to evaluate the association. Twelve studies with a total of 2,111 cases and 2,894 controls were finally included into the meta-analysis. Overall, meta-analysis of a total of 12 studies showed that there was no obvious association between CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism and endometrial cancer risk (OR = 0.97, 95 % CI 0.77-1.22, P = 0.808; OR = 1.00, 95 % CI 0.57-1.76, P = 0.994; OR = 0.88, 95 % CI 0.65-1.20, P = 0.425; OR = 0.98, 95 % CI 0.74-1.29, P = 0.861). Subgroup analyses by ethnicity further showed that there was no obvious association between CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism and endometrial cancer risk in both Caucasians and Asians. There was no obvious risk of publication bias. Therefore, the meta-analysis suggests that CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism is not associated with endometrial cancer risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Novel urchin-like CdS was synthesized via a facile solvothermal route without any assistant agent. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, high-resolution transmission electron, and photoluminescence spectrophotometer. Based on time-resolved experiments, a possible growth mechanism of 3D urchin-like CdS microspheres was initially proposed. As a key component of electron multiplier device, a microchannel plate (MCP) can be applied in many scientific fields. Pure aluminum oxide (Al2O3) as secondary electron emission (SEE) layer were deposited in the pores of MCP via atomic layer deposition (ALD) to overcome problems such as high dark current and low lifetime which often occur on traditional MCP. In this paper, we systematically investigate the morphology, element distribution, and structure of samples by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. Output current of different thickness of Al2O3 was studied and an optimal thickness was found. Experimental tests show that the average gain of ALD-MCP was nearly five times better than that of traditional MCP, and the ALD-MCP showed better sensitivity and longer lifetime. For cartilage tissue repairing, it remains a key challenge to design implant materials with antibacterial activity, proper degradation rate and mechanical property. In this research, antibacterial nanodiamonds (QND, QND-Ag) modified acrylate-terminated polyurethanes (APU) were prepared. By the addition of nanocomposites, the crystallinity of modified APU obviously increased, which indicates a strong interaction between NDs and APU. Tensile and compression tests were carried out to evaluate the improved mechanical properties. Compared with APU, APU(10%PEG)/QND-Ag possessed the increased modulus and strength, a nevertheless slight decrease in elongation at break. Due to the dual actions of contact-killing of cationic polymers and release-killing of the Ag NPs, QND-Ag-containing polyurethane showed excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Moreover, APU containing polyethylene glycol showed a significant increase in degradability rates. Consequently, owing to the dual effect of crystallinity and hydrophilicity, our modified APU exhibited the proper degradation rate adaptable to the healing rate of cartilage tissue. There is an increasing clinical need to design dental restorative materials that combine excellent mechanical property and anti-biofilm activity. In the current study, photocurable polycation functionalized nanodiamond (QND) was synthesized and proposed as novel filler for dental resins. By reason of increased repulsive force between nanoparticles and enhanced compatibility with resin matrix, QND dispersed uniformly in reinforced resins, which would help to transfer stress and deformation from the matrix to fillers more efficiently, resulting in a significant improvement in mechanical properties. Notably, the Vickers’s hardness, flexural strength and flexural modulus of resins containing 1.0 wt% QND were 44.5, 36.1 and 41.3% higher than that of control, respectively. The antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) showed that QND-incorporated resins produced anti-adhesive property due to their hydrophilic surfaces and could suppress bacterial growth as a result of the contact-killing effect of embedded nanocomposites. As the synergistic effect of anti-adhesive and bactericidal performance, resins loading 1.0~1.5 wt% QNDs displayed excellent anti-biofilm activity. Meanwhile, the results of macrophage cytotoxicity showed that the proliferation of RAW 264.7 cells remained 84.3%, even at a concentration of 1.0 wt% QNDs after 7-day incubation. Therefore, the QND-containing dental resin with the combination of high mechanical property, bacteria-repellent capability and antibacterial performance holds great potential as a restorative material based on this scheme.
