Objective: To investigate whether Naoxueshu Oral Liquid (NXS) could promote hematoma absorption in post-craniotomy hematoma (PCH) patients. Methods: This is an open-label, multicenter, and randomized controlled trial conducted at 9 hospitals in China. Patients aged 18–80 years with post-craniotomy supratentorial hematoma volume ranging from 10 to 30 mL or post-craniotomy infratentorial hematoma volume less than 10 mL, or intraventricular hemorrhage following cranial surgery were enrolled. They were randomly assigned at a 1:1 ratio to the NXS (10 mL thrice daily for 15 days) or control groups using a randomization code table. Standard medical care was administered in both groups. The primary outcome was the percentage reduction in hematoma volume from day 1 to day 15. The secondary outcomes included the percentage reduction in hematoma volume from day 1 to day 7, the absolute reduction in hematoma volume from day 1 to day 7 and 15, and the change in neurological function from day 1 to day 7 and 15. The safety was closely monitored throughout the study. Moreover, subgroup analysis was performed based on age, gender, history of diabetes, and etiology of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Results: A total of 120 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned between March 30, 2018 and April 15, 2020. One patient was lost to follow-up in the control group. Finally, there were 119 patients (60 in the NXS group and 59 in the control group) included in the analysis. In the full analysis set (FAS) analysis, the NXS group had a greater percentage reduction in hematoma volume from day 1 to day 15 than the control group [median (Q1, Q3): 85% (71%, 97%) vs. 76% (53%, 93%), P<0.05]. The secondary outcomes showed no statistical significance between two groups, either in FAS or per-protocol set (P>0.05). Furthermore, no adverse events were reported during the study. In the FAS analysis, the NXS group exhibited a higher percentage reduction in hematoma volume on day 15 in the following subgroups: male patients, patients younger than 65 years, patients without diabetes, or those with initial cranial surgery due to ICH (all P<0.05). Conclusions: The administration of NXS demonstrated the potential to promote the percentage reduction in hematoma volume from day 1 to day 15. This intervention was found to be safe and feasible. Medical advances prolonging life have led to more permanent pacemaker implants. When pacemaker implantation (PMI) is commonly caused by sick sinus syndrome or conduction disorders, predicting PMI is challenging, as patients often experience related symptoms. This study was designed to create a deep learning model (DLM) for predicting future PMI from ECG data and assess its ability to predict future cardiovascular events. In this study, a DLM was trained on a dataset of 158,471 ECGs from 42,903 academic medical center patients, with additional validation involving 25,640 medical center patients and 26,538 community hospital patients. Primary analysis focused on predicting PMI within 90 days, while all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, and the development of various cardiovascular conditions were addressed with secondary analysis. The study's raw ECG DLM achieved area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.870, 0.878, and 0.883 for PMI prediction within 30, 60, and 90 days, respectively, along with sensitivities exceeding 82.0% and specificities over 81.9% in the internal validation. Significant ECG features included the PR interval, corrected QT interval, heart rate, QRS duration, P-wave axis, T-wave axis, and QRS complex axis. The AI-predicted PMI group had higher risks of PMI after 90 days (hazard ratio [HR]: 7.49, 95% CI: 5.40-10.39), all-cause mortality (HR: 1.91, 95% CI: 1.74–2.10), CVD mortality (HR: 3.53, 95% CI: 2.73–4.57), and new-onset adverse cardiovascular events. External validation confirmed the model's accuracy. Through ECG analyses, our AI DLM can alert clinicians and patients to the possibility of future PMI and related mortality and cardiovascular risks, aiding in timely patient intervention. Industrial enterprises are major sources of contaminants, making their regulation vital for sustainable development. Tracking contaminant generation at the firm-level is challenging due to enterprise heterogeneity and the lack of a universal estimation method. This study addresses the issue by focusing on hazardous waste (HW), which is difficult to monitor automatically. We developed a data-driven methodology to predict HW generation using wastewater big data which is grounded in the availability of this data with widespread application of automatic sensors and the logical assumption that a correlation exists between wastewater and HW generation. We created a generic framework that used representative variables from diverse sectors, exploited a data-balance algorithm to address long-tail data distribution, and incorporated causal discovery to screen features and improve computation efficiency. Our method was tested on 1024 enterprises across 10 sectors in Jiangsu, China, demonstrating high fidelity (R² = 0.87) in predicting HW generation with 4,260,593 daily wastewater data. AI-based data-driven methods can simulate the relationship between wastewater and hazardous waste generation, enabling source estimation of hazardous waste from diverse enterprises in a uniform and lightweight manner in China. Purpose: Donor-derived infection (DDI) has become an important factor affecting the prognosis of lung transplantation patients. The risks versus benefits of using donor organs infected with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO), especially carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO), are frequently debated. Traditional microbial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing at present fail to meet the needs of quick CRO determination for donor lungs before acquisition. In this study, we explored a novel screening method by using Xpert® Carba-R assay for CRO in donor lungs in a real-time manner to reduce CRO-associated DDI mortality. Methods: This study was registered on chictr.org.cn (ChiCTR2100053687) on November 2021. In the Xpert Carba-R screening group, donor lungs were screened for CRO infection by the Xpert Carba-R test on bronchoalveolar fluid (BALF) before acquisition. If the result was negative, donor lung acquisition and subsequent lung transplantation were performed. In the thirty-five potential donors, nine (25.71%) with positive Xpert Carba-R results in BALF were declined for lung transplantation. Twenty-six recipients and the matching CRO-negative donor lungs (74.29%) were included in the Xpert Carba-R screening group. In the control group, nineteen recipients underwent lung transplants without Xpert Carba-R screening. The incidence and mortality of CRO-associated DDI were collected and contrasted between the two groups. Results: Multivariate analysis showed that CRO-related death due to DDI within 60 days was significantly lower in the Xpert Carba-R screening group than that in the control group (OR = 0.05, 95% CI 0.003–0.74, p = 0.03). Conclusion: Real-time CRO screening of donor lungs before transplantation at the point of care by the Xpert Carba-R helps clinicians formulate lung transplantation strategies quickly and reduces the risk of subsequent CRO infection improving the prognosis of lung transplantation. In the last decade, biochar application research has emerged as a hot topic in water treatment studies, which made biochar adsorption one of the primary wastewater treatment strategies. This paper presents a global bibliometric analysis of 2673 publications from the Web of Science database, spanning 2011–2022. For a comprehensive understanding of the research status and trends in biochar adsorption for wastewater treatment, the advanced quantitative and visual analysis tools (i.e., CiteSpace and ArcGIS) were employed. The results showed that China emerged as the leading country with the most published articles. The key research area is on the magnetic adsorption of biochar in wastewater. The articles summarized in the review demonstrated unequivocally that biochar can treat a wide range of wastewater even though the adsorption mechanisms of biochar on heavy metals, inorganic salts and organic pollutants in wastewater are not entirely consistent. The review further analyzes the factors affecting the performance of biochar in adsorbing pollutants from wastewater and the improvement measures of biochar functional characteristics, proposing the future research directions focusing on the improvement of the adsorption capacity of biochar products. The information synthesis and discussion would provide valuable insights on the historical, current, and future trends in biochar research, beneficial to solve the practical problems of water pollution and improve the quality of the environment. A deep learning model was developed to identify osteoporosis from chest X-ray (CXR) features with high accuracy in internal and external validation. It has significant prognostic implications, identifying individuals at higher risk of all-cause mortality. This Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled CXR strategy may function as an early detection screening tool for osteoporosis. The aim of this study was to develop a deep learning model (DLM) to identify osteoporosis via CXR features and investigate the performance and clinical implications. This study collected 48,353 CXRs with the corresponding T score according to Dual energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) from the academic medical center. Among these, 35,633 CXRs were used to identify CXR- Osteoporosis (CXR-OP). Another 12,720 CXRs were used to validate the performance, which was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). Furthermore, CXR-OP was tested to assess the long-term risks of mortality, which were evaluated by Kaplan‒Meier survival analysis and the Cox proportional hazards model. The DLM utilizing CXR achieved AUCs of 0.930 and 0.892 during internal and external validation, respectively. The group that underwent DXA with CXR-OP had a higher risk of all-cause mortality (hazard ratio [HR] 2.59, 95% CI: 1.83–3.67), and those classified as CXR-OP in the group without DXA also had higher all-cause mortality (HR: 1.67, 95% CI: 1.61–1.72) in the internal validation set. The external validation set produced similar results. Our DLM uses CXRs for early detection of osteoporosis, aiding physicians to identify those at risk. Semantic part detection within an object is of importance in the field of computer vision. This study proposes a novel approach to semantic part detection that starts by employing a convolutional neural network to concatenate a selection of feature maps from the network into a long vector for pixel representation. Using this dedicated pixel representation, we implement a range of techniques, such as Poisson disk sampling for pixel sampling and Poisson matting for pixel label correction. These techniques efficiently facilitate the training of a practical pixel classifier for part detection. Our experimental exploration investigated various factors that affect the model’s performance, including training data labeling (with or without the aid of Poisson matting), hypercolumn representation dimensionality, neural network architecture, post-processing techniques, and pixel classifier selection. The use of Bacillus circulans as the sole starter provides better process control compared to natural fermentation. However, the chemical composition of fermented Tibetan tea by B. circulans and its regulatory effects on the intestine–liver axis has not been reported. For this purpose, a high-resolution liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry metabolomics approach was performed. The effects of fermented Tibetan tea on the intestine–liver axis of mice were also evaluated. Untargeted metabolomics analysis showed that the contents of catechin derivatives, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and terpenoids increased by 0.3, 2.38, 2.65, and 3.36%, respectively, compared with those before fermentation. Furthermore, 16S ribosomal RNA sequence analysis revealed that the relative abundance of Lactobacillus spp. in the intestine increased after consumption of fermented tea. Additionally, based on histological and quantitative PCR analyses, fermented Tibetan tea also improved intestinal development and intestinal barrier function in mouse, while increasing the antioxidant capacity of mouse liver. Thus, fermented Tibetan tea could provide beneficial health effects through the intestine–liver axis. These findings have facilitated the study of the chemical composition of Tibetan tea and provided theoretical support for its use as a natural beverage with intestinal probiotic functions. Optical frequency combs provide a powerful tool for precise measurement of the optical frequency, holding significant importance in fields such as spectroscopy, optical communication and optical clock. The frequency stability of the comb line determines the precision of the frequency measurement, but the delicate interplay between high precision, low power consumption and integration still needs to be optimized. To this aim, here we demonstrate a frequency measurement scheme based on a fully stabilized electro-optic comb, in which the pump laser frequency and repetition rate are independently locked to the atomic transition and microwave signal. The measurement precision of the demonstrated wavemeter can reach sub-kHz-level, and the parallel measurement of multiple wavelengths can be performed. Therefore, by combining the technical scheme reported here with advanced integrated functional devices, our system is expected to provide a feasible solution for chip-scale frequency precision measurement and reference. Background: Prior psychometric evidence of the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults (PRIFOR) showed good criterion-related validity, concurrent validity, known-group validity, predictive validity, and internal consistency. However, it is unclear whether older patients with different treatment diagnoses interpret the PRIFOR similarly. Aims: This study aimed to test the psychometric properties of the PRIFOR scores among different treatment diagnoses of older patients. Methods: We recruited 413 hospitalized older patients with a medical diagnosis and 207 with a surgical diagnosis in a 1343-bed tertiary-care medical center in Taiwan. Data analyses included Rasch models, Principal Components Analysis (PCA), and Pearson correlations. Results: The Rasch analyses showed that all PRIFOR items were embedded within their belonged constructs, reflecting good construct validity and unidimensionality. Person and item separation reliability support the internal consistency of the studied samples and PRIFOR items. However, six PRIFOR items were found to have meaningful differential item functioning (DIF) problems among treatment diagnoses. Conclusions: The PRIFOR is a solid measurement and can be used for monitoring the status of older adults' physical resilience. However, because six items were found to have meaningful DIF among treatment diagnosis groups, future studies should consider designing specific items for different patient populations to assess their needs in physical resilience. Tongue diagnosis is a useful process in traditional Chinese medicine to assess diseases non-invasively by visually inspecting the tongue and its various properties. In this study, we developed an automated tongue diagnosis system with a mobile app for the general public. The image-segmentation component extracts the tongue body image from an input photograph taken by a smartphone. The tongue-coating color classification component predicts the category of the coating color. The segmented image and diagnosis results are returned to the app and shown to the user. Experimental results show that Mask R-CNN is the optimal choice for tongue-image segmentation under various input image conditions based on the mean interaction over union value of 91 % and the Dice score of 95 % . ResNeXt outperformed other baseline tongue-coating color classification models. In addition, when the input image is adjusted with our color-correction modules in advance, the classification accuracy of ResNeXt101 is improved by approximately 12 % . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Air-layer drag reduction (ALDR) technology for ship energy saving is getting more and more attention in recent years because of the outstanding drag reduction effect. In order to promote practical application, it is necessary to fully understand the two phase flow characteristics of the air layer. Recent experimental studies have shown that the surface of the air layer presents wave pattern, which has an important influence on its damage risk. However, it is difficult to measure the wave pattern quantificationally due to the interference of equipment. The main goal of the present paper is to investigate the wave pattern characteristic of air layer in cavity using numerical simulation method. On this basis, the effect of flow and geometric influence factors are discussed to understand the key control conditions. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical method based on Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and volume of fluid (VOF) interface capturing method is established, and has been successfully applied in the simulation of air layer wave pattern. Both 2-D and 3-D simulations are carried out, aiming at analyzing air-water interface flow and vortex flow directly. Based on the simulation results, several important conclusions about the mechanism of air layer wave pattern can be obtained. Firstly, it is found to be an inherent characteristic that the wave height of the upstream air layer is higher than that of the downstream. The extremely high wave peak is easy to contact with the flat plate, leading to the breakup of air layer and a "central blank area" phenomenon. With the help of flow analysis, it is found that this characteristic is mainly caused by the strong counterclockwise vortex behind the bow wedge block. Secondly, the air layer stability is reduced with the increase of water flow velocity by affecting the wave height. There is a saturation point of air flow rate to reach maximum thickness of air layer. Thirdly, cavity configuration has obvious influence on air layer stability by influencing vortex flow field. The increase of cavity depth and width can aggravate the unsteady and nonlinear characteristics of air layer. Finally, comprehensive design criteria are concluded from the view of geometrical configuration and flow conditions. A cavity with the moderate depth and width can avoid the upstream damage of air layer. The upstream basin of Hanjiang River is an important water source for the middle route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The quality of water and soil in the Hanjiang River have enormous biological and environmental impacts, and resistant genetic contamination has emerged, but only few studies are concerned the correlation between heavy metals and metal resistance genes (MRGs). In this study, 8 antibiotics and 19 heavy metals were analyzed, the results showed that the highest antibiotic content was tetracycline, with mean concentrations of 43.201 µg/kg and 0.022 µg/L. Mn was the highest heavy metal in soil with a content of 1408.284 µg/kg, and in water was Zn with a content of 10.611 µg/L. We found that the most abundant antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and metal resistance genes (MRGs) in the study area were bacA and arsT genes, coding for resistance mechanisms to bacitracin and arsenic, respectively. The data showed that heavy metals had a greater impact on antibiotic resistance genes than antibiotics, and the correlation between resistance genes was significantly positive. This work expands our understanding of the correlations of antibiotics, heavy metals, and resistance genes in the Hanjiang River, indicating that more attention should be paid to the effects of resistance genes and the quality of water. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly metastatic disease refractory to all targeted and immune therapies. However, our understanding of PDAC microenvironment especially the metastatic microenvironment is very limited partly due to the inaccessibility to metastatic tumor tissues. Here, we present the single-cell transcriptomic landscape of synchronously resected PDAC primary tumors and matched liver metastases. We perform comparative analysis on both cellular composition and functional phenotype between primary and metastatic tumors. Tumor cells exhibit distinct transcriptomic profile in liver metastasis with clearly defined evolutionary routes from cancer cells in primary tumor. We also identify specific subtypes of stromal and immune cells critical to the formation of the pro-tumor microenvironment in metastatic lesions, including RGS5+ cancer-associated fibroblasts, CCL18+ lipid-associated macrophages, S100A8+ neutrophils and FOXP3+ regulatory T cells. Cellular interactome analysis further reveals that the lack of tumor-immune cell interaction in metastatic tissues contributes to the formation of the immunosuppressive microenvironment. Our study provides a comprehensive characterization of the transcriptional landscape of PDAC liver metastasis. The metastatic tumour microenvironment in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains to be explored. Emergency department (ED) triage scale determines the priority of patient care and foretells the prognosis. However, the information retrieved from the initial assessment is limited, hindering the risk identification accuracy of triage. Therefore, we sought to develop a 'dynamic' triage system as secondary screening, using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to integrate information from initial assessment data and subsequent examinations. This retrospective cohort study included 134,112 ED visits with at least one electrocardiography (ECG) and chest X-ray (CXR) in a medical center from 2012 to 2022. Additionally, an independent community hospital provided 45,614 ED visits as an external validation set. We trained an eXtreme gradient boosting (XGB) model using initial assessment data to predict all-cause mortality in 7 days. Two deep learning models (DLMs) using ECG and CXR were trained to stratify mortality risks. The dynamic triage levels were based on output from the XGB-triage and DLMs from ECG and CXR. During the internal and external validation, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the XGB-triage model was >0.866; furthermore, the AUCs of DLMs using ECG and CXR were >0.862 and >0.886, respectively. The dynamic triage scale provided a higher C-index (0.914-0.920 vs. 0.827-0.843) than the original one and demonstrated better predictive ability for 5-year mortality, 30-day ED revisit, and 30-day discharge. The AI-based risk scale provides a more accurate and dynamic stratification of mortality risk in ED patients, particularly in identifying patients who tend to be overlooked due to atypical symptoms. Diagnostic and therapeutic illumination on internal organs and tissues with high controllability and adaptability in terms of spectrum, area, depth, and intensity remains a major challenge. Here, we present a flexible, biodegradable photonic device called iCarP with a micrometer scale air gap between a refractive polyester patch and the embedded removable tapered optical fiber. ICarP combines the advantages of light diffraction by the tapered optical fiber, dual refractions in the air gap, and reflection inside the patch to obtain a bulb-like illumination, guiding light towards target tissue. We show that iCarP achieves large area, high intensity, wide spectrum, continuous or pulsatile, deeply penetrating illumination without puncturing the target tissues and demonstrate that it supports phototherapies with different photosensitizers. We find that the photonic device is compatible with thoracoscopy-based minimally invasive implantation onto beating hearts. These initial results show that iCarP could be a safe, precise and widely applicable device suitable for internal organs and tissue illumination and associated diagnosis and therapy. Illuminating internal organs and tissues with high controllability and adaptability remains challenging. Methionine restriction (MR) provides metabolic benefits in many organisms. However, mechanisms underlying the MR-induced effect remain incompletely understood. Here, we show in the budding yeast S. cerevisiae that MR relays a signal of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) deprivation to adapt bioenergetic mitochondria to nitrogenic anabolism. In particular, decreases in cellular SAM constrain lipoate metabolism and protein lipoylation required for the operation of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle in the mitochondria, leading to incomplete glucose oxidation with an exit of acetyl-CoA and α-ketoglutarate from the TCA cycle to the syntheses of amino acids, such as arginine and leucine. This mitochondrial response achieves a trade-off between energy metabolism and nitrogenic anabolism, which serves as an effector mechanism promoting cell survival under MR. Methionine restriction (MR) provides metabolic benefits in many organisms. The accurate radio frequency (RF) ranging and localizing of objects has benefited the researches including autonomous driving, the Internet of Things, and manufacturing. Quantum receivers have been proposed to detect the radio signal with ability that can outperform conventional measurement. As one of the most promising candidates, solid spin shows superior robustness, high spatial resolution and miniaturization. However, challenges arise from the moderate response to a high frequency RF signal. Here, by exploiting the coherent interaction between quantum sensor and RF field, we demonstrate quantum enhanced radio detection and ranging. The RF magnetic sensitivity is improved by three orders to 21 pT / Hz , based on nanoscale quantum sensing and RF focusing. Further enhancing the response of spins to the target's position through multi-photon excitation, a ranging accuracy of 16 μm is realized with a GHz RF signal. The results pave the way for exploring quantum enhanced radar and communications with solid spins. Quantum sensors based on NV centers in diamond are well established, however the sensitivity of detection of high-frequency radio signals has been limited. Osteoporosis has been recognized as a significant cause of disability in the elderly leading to heavy socioeconomic burden. Current measurements such as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and bone mineral density (BMD) have limitations. In contrast, trabecular bone score (TBS) is an emerging tool for bone quality assessment. The objective of our study was to investigate the relationship between TBS and trace elements (cadmium and lead). We analyzed all subjects from the 2005–2006 and 2007–2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) dataset and included a total of 8,244 participants in our study; 49.4% of the enrolled subjects were male. We used blood cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) concentrations to define environmental exposure. The main variables were TBS and BMD. Other significant demographic features were included as covariates and later adjusted using linear regression models to determine the association between TBS and four quartiles based on the blood trace element concentrations with or without sex differences. The fully adjusted regression model revealed a negative relationship between TBS and blood cadmium (B-Cd) significant for both males and females (both p < 0.05). The β-coefficient for males was −0.009 (95% confidence intervals (CI): (−0.015 to −0.004)) and −0.019 for female (95% CI: (−0.024 to −0.013)). We also found a dose-dependent relationship between TBS and B-Cd for both sexes (both trend's p < 0.05). LHCb Collaboration studied the resonant structure of B s → D ¯ 0 K - π + decays using the Dalitz plot analysis technique, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb - 1 of pp collision. The K - π + components have been analyzed in the amplitude model, where the decay amplitude is modeled to be the resonant contributions with respect to the intermediate resonances K ∗ (892) , K 0 ∗ (1430) and K 2 ∗ (1430) . Motivated by the experimental results, we investigate the CKM-favored quasi-two-body B → D ¯ 0 K π decays in the framework of the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. We calculate the the branching fractions by introducing the appropriate wave functions of K π pair. Our results are in agreement well the available data, and others can be tested in LHCb and Belle-II experiments. Using the narrow-width-approximation, we also extract the branching fractions of the corresponding two-body B → D ¯ R decays, which agree to the previous theoretical calculations and the experimental data within the errors. Post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) is a common and costly complication of stroke and is associated with increased mortality, morbidity, and hospitalization. Although most patients can spontaneously resume swallowing, there are still many patients who do not recover and even die. Despite multiple advances in the acute treatment and secondary prevention of stroke, the effective treatment of PSD remains a neglected area. Studies have shown that repair mechanisms of neurostimulation techniques and increased cortical activity play an important role in the treatment of PSD. In addition, nutritional interventions are also crucial for the treatment of malnutrition in PSD patients. Therefore, this article reviews the effects of the current main clinical treatment methods and nutritional interventions on the treatment and rehabilitation of PSD patients. It also emphasized the necessity of developing an individualized care plan for PSD patients, which is of great significance to promote the clinical treatment, nutritional status, prognosis, and quality of life of PSD patients. Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) has recently been demonstrated to contain optically polarized and detected electron spins that can be utilized for implementing qubits and quantum sensors in nanolayered-devices. Understanding the coherent dynamics of microwave driven spins in hBN is of crucial importance for advancing these emerging new technologies. Here, we demonstrate and study the Rabi oscillation and related phenomena of a negatively charged boron vacancy (V B − ) spin ensemble in hBN. We report on different dynamics of the V B − spins at weak and strong magnetic fields. In the former case the defect behaves like a single electron spin system, while in the latter case it behaves like a multi-spin system exhibiting multiple-frequency dynamical oscillation as beat in the Ramsey fringes. We also carry out theoretical simulations for the spin dynamics of V B − and reveal that the nuclear spins can be driven via the strong electron nuclear coupling existing in V B − center, which can be modulated by the magnetic field and microwave field. Understanding the coherent dynamics of electron and nucleus spins in hBN is crucial for their applications as qubits and quantum sensors. Tumefactive demyelinating lesion (TDL) is an immune-mediated disease which can be misdiagnosed as glioma. At present, there is no study comparing difference between the two disorders at the cellular level. Here, we perform integrative and comparative single-cell RNA sequencing (ScRNA-seq) transcriptomic analysis on TDL and glioma lesions. At single-cell resolution, TDL is comprised primarily of immune cells, which is completely different from glioma. The integrated analysis reveals a TDL-specific microglial subset involving in B cell activation and proliferation. Comparative analysis highlights remyelination function of glial cells and demyelination function of T cells in TDL. Subclustering and pseudotime trajectory analysis of T cells in TDL reveal their heterogeneity and diverse functions involving in TDL pathogenesis and recovery process. Our study identifies substantial differences between TDL and glioma at single-cell resolution. The observed heterogeneity and potentially diverse functions of cells in TDL may be critical in disease progression. Non-human primates are attractive laboratory animal models that accurately reflect both developmental and pathological features of humans. Here we present a compendium of cell types across multiple organs in cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) using both single-cell chromatin accessibility and RNA sequencing data. The integrated cell map enables in-depth dissection and comparison of molecular dynamics, cell-type compositions and cellular heterogeneity across multiple tissues and organs. Using single-cell transcriptomic data, we infer pseudotime cell trajectories and cell-cell communications to uncover key molecular signatures underlying their cellular processes. Furthermore, we identify various cell-specific cis-regulatory elements and construct organ-specific gene regulatory networks at the single-cell level. Finally, we perform comparative analyses of single-cell landscapes among mouse, monkey and human. We show that cynomolgus monkey has strikingly higher degree of similarities in terms of immune-associated gene expression patterns and cellular communications to human than mouse. Taken together, our study provides a valuable resource for non-human primate cell biology. Imatinib (IM), a milestone drug used in the field of molecular targeted therapy, has been reported to cause serious adverse liver effects, including liver failure and even death. Immune-mediated injury and mitochondrial dysfunction are involved in drug-induced liver injury. However, the mechanism of IM-induced hepatotoxicity remains unclear and warrants further study. In our study, Sprague Dawley rats were administered IM by gavage with 50 mg/kg body weight (BW) once daily for 10 days. Drug-induced liver injury accompanied by inflammatory infiltration was observed in rats following IM exposure, and the expression of NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome-related proteins was significantly increased compared with that of the control. HepG2 cells were exposed to 0–100 μM IM for 24 h. The results showed that IM decreased cell viability in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, IM induced a state of obvious oxidative stress and activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in cells, which resulted in the activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes, including caspase 1 cleavage and IL-1β release. These results were significantly reduced after the use of the antioxidants N-acetyl-l-cysteine or the NF-κB inhibitor pyrrolidine di-thio-carbamate. Furthermore, NLRP3 knockdown significantly reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and improved cell viability. In summary, our data demonstrated that oxidative stress and NLRP3 inflammasome activation are involved in the process of IM-induced hepatotoxicity. The surface flow field of internal waves generated by the underwater vehicle is very weak. In order to study the characteristics of the surface wake of internal waves, a surface particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique which can be used to measure the flow field in the order of mm/s is developed. Breakthrough is made with respect to the key technique measuring the micro-velocity flow field of internal waves on the water surface in stratified fluids. The wake generated by SUBOFF model is measured in stratified fluid tank, and the surface flow field of internal waves is successfully measured for the first time. The experimental results are compared with predicted results by the classical Tuck's internal wave theory. The results show the characteristics of the surface wake signature of internal waves and the variation of the angle between internal wave beams and the surface flow velocity of internal wave with the towing speed of the model are in good agreement. In this study, interactive alternate forward extrusion (AFE) experiments with varying number of extrusion passes of AZ31 magnesium alloy were carried out. The evolution of microstructure, and texture and their effects on the mechanical properties were studied. The results show that with the increase of loading passes, the grains are significantly refined, and the dynamic recrystallisation (DRX) structure is uniformly distributed in the product, which is the main reason for the increase in microhardness, compressive strength and failure strain. Further, slip and twinning induced DRX behaviour are considered to be the main deformation methods in the early stage of deformation. Whereas continuous DRX is considered to be the main deformation methods for the change in grain morphology in the later stage. During the extrusion process, the deflection angle of the base pole decreases. Finally, the fibre texture is formed; the texture strength is significantly reduced because of the effect of recrystallisation. The AZ31 magnesium alloy interactive AFE process is discussed with respect to the technological experiment and the microstructure deformation, thus providing a vital scientific basis for further application. As geological exploration conditions become increasingly complex, meeting the requirements of precise geological exploration necessitates the development of a controlled-source audio magnetotelluric (CSAMT) inversion method that considers anisotropy to improve the effectiveness of inversion accuracy and interpretation accuracy of data. This study is based on the 3D finite-difference forward modeling of axis anisotropy using the reciprocity theorem to calculate the Jacobian matrix by applying the search method to automatically search for the Lagrange operator. The aim is to establish inversion iteration equations to achieve the axis anisotropic Occam’s 3D inversion of tensor CSAMT in data space. Further, we obtain an underground axis anisotropic 3D geoelectric model by inverting the impedance data of tensor CSAMT. Two synthetic data examples show that using the isotropic tensor CSAMT algorithm to directly invert data in anisotropic media can generate false anomalies, leading to incorrect geological interpretations. Meanwhile, the proposed anisotropic inversion algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy of data inversion in anisotropic media. Freezing of water droplets impacting a cold substrate is a commonly encountered circumstance impairing the performance and safety of various applications. Active methods of ice removal such as heating or mechanical means are energy intensive and inconvenient. Here, we report a passive ice removal method via harvesting the thermal-mechanical stress of ice, leading to the self-peeling of frozen water droplets upon impacting a cold substrate. We find that the frozen ice completely self-peels and is then easily removable from a cold hydrophobic surface whiles the ice exhibits cracking and remains firmly sticky to a hydrophilic surface. The peeling behaviors of frozen water droplets are then scrutinized by varying the subcooling degree, impact parameters and wettability. Moreover, we develop a theoretical model to characterize the peeling and bending behaviors of the ice and also provides a simple criterion to predict the occurrence of complete self-peeling, facilitating the design of anti-icing surfaces. When water droplets impact a cold surface they freeze, and their removal is problematic in many applications. Here, the authors show experimentally and by thermo-mechanical modeling that surface temperature difference and wettability influence droplet freezing, and when the surface is sufficiently cold and hydrophobic, the forming ice layer peels-off at the edges, making it easy to remove the ice from the interface. There are no optimal regimens for advanced thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) when frontline chemotherapy fails. In this study, we aimed to assess the activity of Bevacizumab in combination with a routine chemotherapeutic regimen. Patients with advanced TETs who had failed after previous chemotherapy were enrolled in this study. Paclitaxel (160 mg/m2) and cisplatin (70 mg/m2) or carboplatin (area under the curve, 6) plus Bevacizumab (7.5 mg/kg) were intravenously injected on day 1.The treatment was repeated every 3 weeks until the disease progressed or intolerable toxicities occurred. Between March 2018 and August 2020, a total of 49 patients (21 thymoma and 28 thymic carcinoma) received the new treatment. There were 28 men and 21 women with a median age of 50 years (range: 21-73 years). The median number of cycles was 3 (range: 1-6) per patient. The objective response rate (ORR) for all patients was 43% (21/49). The ORRs for thymoma and thymic carcinoma were 24% and 57%, respectively. The median progression-free survival for thymoma and thymic carcinoma was 6 and 8 months, respectively. Hematological toxicities were the main side effects. Paclitaxel and platinum plus Bevacizumab showed promising effects in refractory or relapsed advanced TETs without severe toxicity. Dyskalemias are common electrolyte disorders associated with high cardiovascular risk. Artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted electrocardiography (ECG) has been evaluated as an early-detection approach for dyskalemia. The aims of this study were to determine the clinical accuracy of AI-assisted ECG for dyskalemia and prognostic ability on clinical outcomes such as all-cause mortality, hospitalizations, and ED revisits. This retrospective cohort study was done at two hospitals within a health system from May 2019 to December 2020. In total, 26,499 patients with 34,803 emergency department (ED) visits to an academic medical center and 6492 ED visits from 4747 patients to a community hospital who had a 12-lead ECG to estimate ECG-K+ and serum laboratory potassium measurement (Lab-K+) within 1 h were included. ECG-K+ had mean absolute errors (MAEs) of ≤0.365 mmol/L. Area under receiver operating characteristic curves for ECG-K+ to predict moderate-to-severe hypokalemia (Lab-K+ ≤3 mmol/L) and moderate-to-severe hyperkalemia (Lab-K+ ≥ 6 mmol/L) were >0.85 and >0.95, respectively. The U-shaped relationships between K+ concentration and adverse outcomes were more prominent for ECG-K+ than for Lab-K+. ECG-K+ and Lab-K+ hyperkalemia were associated with high HRs for 30-day all-cause mortality. Compared to hypokalemic Lab-K+, patients with hypokalemic ECG-K+ had significantly higher risk for adverse outcomes after full confounder adjustment. In addition, patients with normal Lab-K+ but dyskalemic ECG-K+ (pseudo-positive) also exhibited more co-morbidities and had worse outcomes. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common and complex skin disorder, and the 5q22.1 region had been reported to be associated with AD. To confirm the susceptibility gene for AD in the 5q22.1 region by haplotype and targeted capture sequencing. The haplotypes were reconstructed with the genotyping data of four SNPs and six deletions from 3624 Chinese Hans AD patients and 5076 controls. The targeted capture sequencing spanning 5q22.1 region was performed in the selected samples. The gene level enrichment analysis was done using loss of function variants. A total of 62 haplotypes were found, and the H15 haplotype had the strongest association with AD (P = 3.92 × 10−10, OR 0.17, 95% CI 0.09–0.32). However, no co-segregation mutation sites were found in the sequencing analysis within the 16 selected samples, while the enrichment analysis indicated that TMEM232 was significantly associated with AD (P = 7.33 × 10–5, OR 0.33, 95% CI 0.19–0.58). Focusing electromagnetic field to enhance the interaction with matter has been promoting researches and applications of nano electronics and photonics. Usually, the evanescent-wave coupling is adopted in various nano structures and materials to confine the electromagnetic field into a subwavelength space. Here, based on the direct coupling with confined electron oscillations in a nanowire, we demonstrate a tight localization of microwave field down to 10−6λ. A hybrid nanowire-bowtie antenna is further designed to focus the free-space microwave to this deep-subwavelength space. Detected by the nitrogen vacancy center in diamond, the field intensity and microwave-spin interaction strength are enhanced by 2.0 × 108 and 1.4 × 104 times, respectively. Such a high concentration of microwave field will further promote integrated quantum information processing, sensing and microwave photonics in a nanoscale system. Subwavelength focusing of electromagnetic fields often uses evanescent waves and nanostructures to aid confinement. A link between sex hormones and B-cell activating factor (BAFF), a crucial immunoregulator of autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD), may exist. The study aimed to elucidate the role of estrogen (E2) in regulating BAFF in Graves' disease (GD). In clinical samples, serum BAFF levels were higher in women than in men in both the GD and control groups. serum BAFF levels were associated with thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody levels and thyroid function only in women and not in men. BAFF transcripts in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were higher in women with GD than those in the control group. Among GD patients with the AA genotype of rs2893321, women had higher BAFF transcripts and protein levels than men. In the progression of a spontaneous autoimmune thyroiditis (SAT) murine model, NOD.H-2h4, serum free thyroxine and BAFF levels were higher in female than in male mice. Moreover, exogenous E2 treatment increased serum BAFF levels in male SAT mice. Meanwhile, female SAT mice exhibited higher thyroid BAFF transcripts levels than either the E2-treated or untreated male SAT mouse groups. Due to an electro-hydrodynamic instability, a dielectric spherical particle immersed in a dielectric viscous solvent can exhibit steady rotation spontaneously (Quincke rotation) in a uniform steady electric field of sufficient strength. The recent works [Zhu and Stone, Phys Rev Fluids, 4(6):061701, 2019; Zhu and Stone, J Fluid Mech, p 888, 2020; Han et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, 118(29), 2021] have demonstrated using an elastic structure to tune that instability for generating self-oscillation via an elasto-electro-hydrodynamic instability. Inspired by these studies, here, we use simulations to conceive a low-Reynolds-number actuator made of a dielectric spherical particle attached to an anchor via a flexible filament. We show that the actuator displays multiple behaviors: stationary, two modes of steady rotation, and a self-oscillatory motion, depending on the ratio μ ¯ of the viscous over elastic forces, slenderness of the filament, and the strength of the electric field. The complex dependence is illustrated by bifurcation diagrams revealing multiple features of the dynamical system. We then develop a reduced-order model that captures the main features of the dynamics revealed by the full model. A convolutional neural network (CNN)-based approach for fetal ECG detection from the abdominal ECG recording is proposed. The flow contains a pre-processing phase and a classification phase. In the pre-processing phase, short-time Fourier transform is applied to obtain the spectrogram, which is sent to 2D CNN for classification. The classified results from multiple channels are then fused and high detection accuracy up to 95.2% is achieved and the CNN-based approach outperforms the conventional algorithm. The hardware of this fetal ECG detector composed of the spectrogram processor and 2D CNN classifier is then implemented on the FPGA platform. Because the two dimensions of the spectrogram and the kernel are asymmetric, a pre-fetch mechanism is designed to eliminate the long latency resulted from data buffering for large-size convolution. From the implementation results, it takes 20258 clock cycles for inference and almost 50% computation cycles are reduced. The power consumption is 12.33mW at 324KHz and 1V for real-time operations.
