A recent Cyberball study has indicated that the experience of loss of control can affect how people process subsequent social exclusion. This "preexposure effect" supports the idea of a common cognitive system involved in the processing of different types of social threats. To test the validity of this assumption in the current study, we reversed the sequence of the preexposure setup. We measured the effects of social exclusion on the subsequent processing of loss of control utilizing event-related brain potentials (ERPs) and self-reports. In the control group (CG, n = 26), the transition to loss of control elicited significant increases in both the P3 amplitude and the self-reported negative mood. Replicating the results of the previous preexposure study, these effects were significantly reduced by the preexposure to an independent social threat (here: social exclusion). In contrast to previous findings, these effects were not modulated by the discontinuation (EG1disc, n = 25) or continuation (EG2cont, n = 24) of the preexposure threat. Given that the P3 effect is related to the violation of subjective expectations, these results support the notion that preexposure to a specific social threat has widespread effects on the individuals' expectancy of upcoming social participation and control. Experiencing a social threat, such as social exclusion, is a painful event. In contrast to previous studies providing insight into the processing of a single short-termed threat, we exposed healthy individuals to the simultaneous onset of different social threats. This approach allowed us to track whether these threats are processed independently—or whether they interact in a common system. Using a virtual ball-throwing game (Cyberball), electrophysiological (event-related brain potentials, ERPs) and behavioral (self-reports) responses were collected. We assigned undergraduates to three experimental groups: single threat exclusion (n = 24), single threat loss of control (n = 26), and joint onset of both threats (dual-threat, n = 25). Self-reports indicated an increase in threats (i.e., in perceived exclusion and loss-of-control) in the latter group. The ERPs disentangled the neural responses to each threat: In the dual-threat group, the amplitudes of the P3 responses to exclusionary and intervention events were enhanced. This indicates that individuals are sensitized to each of the threats when the other threat is present simultaneously. Today, semantic web services are rapidly evolving and updating. The discovery of semantic web services is an important concept for the comprehensiveness of individual web services in creating new intelligent systems that meet the complex needs of users and is an important technology in the domain of web services. One of its main goals is to reuse existing web services and combine them in a process that has attracted a lot of attention from different communities like the Internet of Things (IoT). Currently, the discovery of web services in the most common category includes four main methods and a set of sub-methods. Most semantic web service discovery methods are done using semantic descriptions of web services using ontology based on existing pattern recognition approaches. In this research, a new approach is presented that in the first step, the web services description language (WSDL) is scanned and the infrastructure is examined. In the second step, by adding the technique of extracting background information that can be received from the WSDL, the field limitations and existing patterns are considered and detected by semantic spacing on the discovering web services. Also, web services whose parameters contain synonymous synonyms, irregular composite fragments, and similar abbreviations with high accuracy in a cluster contract. The proposed approach is based on a semantic pattern recognition using data mining and finally, the output of the proposed method is single and combined services that have high accuracy and speed of the proposed algorithm in web service discussions. Objective: The intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) of the pancreas is regarded as a precursor to pancreatic cancer; this study aimed to develop and validate a model based on CT characteristics for the non-invasive prediction of the high-risk IPMN of the pancreas. Materials and methods: In this retrospective study, all patients underwent multidetector CT and surgical resection. A prediction model was developed based on a training set consisting of 136 patients with low-risk IPMN and 85 patients with high-risk IPMN between October 2012 and April 2019, and a multivariable logistic regression model was adopted to establish a nomogram. The nomogram performance was determined by its discrimination, calibration, and clinical usefulness. The model was validated in 80 consecutive patients between May 2019 and April 2020, of which 47 and 33 patients had low-risk and high-risk IPMNs, respectively. Results: The multivariable logistic regression model of CT characteristics included the enhancing mural nodule size, the main pancreatic duct (MPD) diameter, the abrupt change in caliber of the MPD with distal pancreatic atrophy, cyst size, thickened enhancing cyst wall, and the presence of lymphadenopathy. The individualized prediction nomogram using these predictors of the high-risk IPMN achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.92 (95% CI 0.88–0.95) in the training set and 0.87 (95% CI 0.79–0.95) in the validation set. The decision curve analysis demonstrated that the nomogram was clinically useful. Conclusion: The CT nomogram, which is a non-invasive predictive tool, can preoperatively predict the risk of malignant IPMN and help identify patients who require a surgical procedure. Objectives: To develop and validate a radiomics model for predicting 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pneumonia. Methods: For this retrospective study, a radiomics model was developed on the basis of a training set consisting of 136 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and 103 patients with other types of viral pneumonia. Radiomics features were extracted from the lung parenchyma window. A radiomics signature was built on the basis of reproducible features, using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method (LASSO). Multivariable logistic regression model was adopted to establish a radiomics nomogram. Nomogram performance was determined by its discrimination, calibration, and clinical usefulness. The model was validated in 90 consecutive patients, of which 56 patients had COVID-19 pneumonia and 34 patients had other types of viral pneumonia. Results: The radiomics signature, consisting of 3 selected features, was significantly associated with COVID-19 pneumonia (p < 0.05) in both training and validation sets. The multivariable logistic regression model included the radiomics signature and distribution; maximum lesion, hilar, and mediastinal lymph node enlargement; and pleural effusion. The individualized prediction nomogram showed good discrimination in the training sample (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC], 0.959; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.933–0.985) and in the validation sample (AUC, 0.955; 95% CI, 0.899–0.995) and good calibration. The mixed model achieved better predictive efficacy than the clinical model. Decision curve analysis demonstrated that the radiomics nomogram was clinically useful. Conclusions: The radiomics model derived has good performance for predicting COVID-19 pneumonia and may help in clinical decision-making. Objectives: To investigate whether meaningful subgroups sharing the CT features of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia could be identified using latent class analysis (LCA) and explore the relationship between the LCA-derived subgroups and clinical types. Methods: This retrospective review included 499 patients with confirmed COVID-19 pneumonia between February 11 and March 8, 2020. Subgroups sharing the CT features were identified using LCA. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were utilized to analyze the association between clinical types and the LCA-derived subgroups. Results: Two radiological subgroups were identified using LCA. There were 228 subjects (45.69%) in class 1 and 271 subjects (54.31%) in class 2. The CT findings of class 1 were smaller pulmonary infection volume, more peripheral distribution, more GGO, more maximum lesion range ≤ 5 cm, a smaller number of lesions, less involvement of lobes, less air bronchogram, less dilatation of vessels, less hilar and mediastinal lymph node enlargement, and less pleural effusion than the CT findings of class 2. Univariate analysis demonstrated that older age, therapy, presence of fever, presence of hypertension, decreased lymphocyte count, and increased CRP levels were significant parameters associated with an increased risk for class 2. Multivariate analyses revealed that the patients with clinically severe type disease had a 1.97-fold risk of class 2 than the patients with clinically moderate-type disease. Conclusions: The demographic and clinical differences between the two radiological subgroups based on the LCA were significantly different. Two radiological subgroups were significantly associated with clinical moderate and severe types. Objectives: To compare the pulmonary chest CT findings of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia with those with other types of viral pneumonia.Methods: This retrospective review includes 154 patients with RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 pneumonia diagnosed between February 11 and 20, 2020, and 100 patients with other types of viral pneumonia diagnosed between April 2011 and December 2020 from two hospitals. High-resolution CT (HRCT) of the chest was performed. Data on location, distribution, attenuation, maximum lesion range, lobe involvement, number of lesions, air bronchogram signs, Hilar and mediastinal lymph node enlargement, and pleural effusion were collected. Associations between imaging characteristics and COVID-19 pneumonia were analyzed with univariate and multivariate logistic regression models.Results: A peripheral distribution was associated with a 13.04-fold risk of COVID-19 pneumonia, compared with a diffuse distribution. A maximum lesion range > 10 cm was associated with a 9.75-fold risk of COVID-19 pneumonia, compared with a maximum lesion range ≤ 5 cm, and the involvement of 5 lobes was associated with an 8.45-fold risk of COVID-19 pneumonia, compared with a maximum lesion range ≤ 2. No pleural effusion was associated with a 3.58-fold risk of COVID-19 pneumonia compared with the presence of pleural effusion. With the goal of lightweight and strong microwave absorption, polyaniline/aminopropyltriethoxysilane/silicon carbide (PANI/APTES/SiC) nano-composites with hierarchical architecture were fabricated through a facile in situ polymerization method. Herein, the SiC powders were modified with APTES in advance to achieve a more uniform envelope by PANI. The composites with different thicknesses of PANI layer and adjustable dielectric properties can be obtained by altering the PANI ratio. For the optimized sample, the minimum value of reflection loss is − 51.34 dB at 13.92 GHz with a thickness of 1.9 mm and the effective attenuation bandwidth is in a broad range from 12.19 to 17.45 GHz (bandwidth of 5.26 GHz). Erythermalgia is a rare cutaneous disorder characterized by attacking of erythema, pain and increased temperature, which primarily involves the extremities and may infrequently extend to the neck, face, ears and even the scrotum. We reported an 18-year-old woman who presented with 3 years history of sole involvement of attacking erythema, pain and warmth over her face and ears without any other associations. The frequency and severity of the flares progressed gradually during the course. Cutaneous examination revealed erythema, increased temperature and tenderness on the face and ears during the flare. The symptoms could be relieved rapidly by cooling. Dermatoscope showed that vessels inside the erythema were more dilated during the episode than after application of ice. The lesion is considered a rare variant of erythermalgia with sole involvement of face and ears. The symptoms had mild response to oral antihistamines, topical steroids and tacrolimus, but had excellent response to the combinative therapy of aspirin and paroxetins. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heat treatable Al-Zn-Mg alloys can be strengthened by the precipitation of second phase particles. In this article, four Al-Zn-Mg-based alloys with different Cu contents have been prepared. The effects of Cu content on the aging behaviors of the whole precipitation process of the prepared Al-Zn-Mg alloys have been investigated using hardness tests, transmission electron microscope, selected election diffraction patterns, and their simulations. It has been shown that a certain amount of Cu promotes a rapid hardening response at the early stage of aging and the nucleation of both GP-II zones and the η′ precipitates. However, the addition of Cu above 3 wt% in alloys would decrease the accelerating effect of the transition from the GP-II zone to the η′ precipitates. Type 1 and some forms of type 2 diabetes mellitus are caused by deficiency of insulin-secretory islet β cells. An ideal treatment for these diseases would therefore be to replace β cells, either by transplanting donated islets or via endogenous regeneration (and controlling the autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes). Unfortunately, the poor availability of donor islets has severely restricted the broad clinical use of islet transplantation. The ability to differentiate embryonic stem cells into insulin-expressing cells initially showed great promise, but the generation of functional β cells has proven extremely difficult and far slower than originally hoped. Pancreatic stem cells (PSC) or transdifferentiation of other cell types in the pancreas may hence provide an alternative renewable source of surrogate β cells. However, the existence of PSC has been hotly debated for many years. Heat treatable Al-Zn-Mg alloys can be strengthened by the precipitation of second phase particles. In this paper, Al-6.57%Zn-2.83%Mg and Al-6.57%Zn-2.83%Mg-3.92%Cu alloys (in wt%) in T7 state (140 °C for 96 h) have been prepared. The effects of Cu and Al on the concentration and structure of equilibrium η (MgZn) phase have been investigated by high resolution transmission electron microscopy, aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy, selected election diffraction pattern simulations, and first-principles calculations. Oxygen concentration in packs of cookies is one of the key factors that impacts on fat oxidation. The aim of this study was to investigate the influences of initial oxygen concentration (IOC) in packs and oxygen-barrier performance of packaging film on the fat oxidation rate of cookies. One batch of cookies was packed in high-barrier material PET/AL/ONY/PE bag with a condition of vacuum-packaging (IOC: 1.8%) and modified atmospheres (IOC: 3.5%, 10.3%, 20.9%, 65.5%), respectively; the other batch of cookies was packed with four films of different oxygen transmission rate with air filled in the packs. All samples were stored under the condition of dark, 40 °C and a relative humidity of 50% for more than 30 days, measuring the peroxide values (POV) of cookies during the storage. The results indicated that the fat oxidation rate increased with the increase in IOC in packs and oxygen transmission rate of the packaging films. High concentration of initial oxygen has a significant impact on the fat oxidation in packed cookies, which was not notable under low IOC and was effectively delayed under vacuum packaging. Besides, Logarithm of POV and store time under different IOC and packaging films had a relationship which successfully fitted by linear regression under the same temperature and relative humidity, and a linear correlation between the fat oxidation rate of the cookies and IOC was developed. Abstract  This study aimed to explore the pharmacokinetic features of levofloxacin (LVFX) in Chinese patients with infections and to confirm oral LVFX 500 mg once daily as an optimal treatment regimen based on pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) analysis. A total of 1052 plasma samples from 164 Chinese adult patients with communityacquired lower respiratory tract infections (CALRTIs) and 18 healthy volunteers were used for population PK analysis. LVFX 500-mg tablets were given once daily. A nonlinear mixed effects model (NONMEM) program was used for population PK model-building and a two-compartment model with first-order absorption process was established. Creatinine clearance (CLcr) and body weight were identified as intrinsic factors which significantly affected oral clearance (CLt/F) and the apparent volume of distribution of the central compartment (V1/F), respectively. The final model is described as follows: CLt/F (l/h) = (8.97 + 0.917 × (CLcr (ml/min) − 100.92) × 60/1000) × exp (ηCLt/F). V1/F (l) = (85.3 + 1.22 × (weight (kg) − 60.75)) × exp (ηV1/F). Q/F (l/h) = 0.351. V2/F (l) = 6.81. ka (h−1) = 1.44 × exp(ηka). Based on the population PK model, mean Cmax and AUC0–24h in CALRTI patients were estimated as 5.13 µg/ml and 58.98 µg·h/ml, respectively. A subgroup analysis showed that patients with mild renal dysfunction (50 ml/min ≤ CLcr 0–24h values compared to patients with normal renal function (CLcr ≥ 80 ml/min). Postmodeling simulation using final population PK estimates also showed that Cmax and AUC0–24h increased markedly in patients with severe renal dysfunction. The results indicate that LVFX dosage adjustment should be individualized on the basis of the CLcr, especially in those with CLcr less than 50 ml/min. None of the PK parameters had any correlation with the occurrence of adverse events. PK-PD analysis indicated that, in patients treated with LVFX 500 mg once daily, the AUC0–24h/MIC ratio exceeded the target for those major CALRTI pathogens isolated. In addition, the Cmax/MIC ratio reached 5 for Streptococcus pneumoniae, indicating that the emergence of LVFX-resistant S. pneumoniae could be prevented during the therapy with this dosage regimen. These results demonstrate that oral LVFX 500 mg once daily has favorable PK parameters and PK-PD features in patients with CALRTIs, and the results strongly support this dosage regimen for the treatment of CALRTI. Purpose: To develop and validate an automated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based model to preoperatively differentiate pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma (PASC) from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods: This retrospective study included patients with surgically resected, histopathologically confirmed PASC or PDAC who underwent MRI between January 2011 and December 2020. According to time of treatment, they were divided into training and validation sets. Automated deep-learning-based artificial intelligence was used for pancreatic tumor segmentation. Linear discriminant analysis was performed with conventional MRI and radiomic features to develop clinical, radiomics, and mixed models in the training set. The models' performances were determined from their discrimination and clinical utility. Kaplan–Meier and log-rank tests were used for survival analysis. Results: Overall, 389 and 123 patients with PDAC (age, 61.37 ± 9.47 years; 251 men) and PASC (age, 61.99 ± 9.82 years; 78 men) were included, respectively; they were split into the training (n = 358) and validation (n = 154) sets. The mixed model showed good performance in the training and validation sets (area under the curve: 0.94 and 0.96, respectively). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were 76.74%, 93.38%, and 89.39% for the training set, respectively, and 67.57%, 97.44%, and 90.26% for the validation set, respectively. The mixed model outperformed the clinical (p = 0.001) and radiomics (p = 0.04) models in the validation set. Log-rank test revealed significantly longer survival in the predicted PDAC group than in the predicted PASC group (p = 0.003), according to the mixed model. Objectives: To develop and validate a radiomics nomogram based on a fully automated pancreas segmentation to assess pancreatic exocrine function. Furthermore, we aimed to compare the performance of the radiomics nomogram with the pancreatic flow output rate (PFR) and conclude on the replacement of secretin-enhanced magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (S-MRCP) by the radiomics nomogram for pancreatic exocrine function assessment. Methods: All participants underwent S-MRCP between April 2011 and December 2014 in this retrospective study. PFR was quantified using S-MRCP. Participants were divided into normal and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) groups using the cut-off of 200 µg/L of fecal elastase-1. Two prediction models were developed including the clinical and non-enhanced T1-weighted imaging radiomics model. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to develop the prediction models. The models' performances were determined based on their discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. Results: A total of 159 participants (mean age ± standard deviation, 45 years ± 14;119 men) included 85 normal and 74 PEI. All the participants were divided into a training set comprising 119 consecutive patients and an independent validation set comprising 40 consecutive patients. The radiomics score was an independent risk factor for PEI (odds ratio = 11.69; p < 0.001). In the validation set, the radiomics nomogram exhibited the highest performance (AUC, 0.92) in PEI prediction, whereas the clinical nomogram and PFR had AUCs of 0.79 and 0.78, respectively. Conclusion: The radiomics nomogram accurately predicted pancreatic exocrine function and outperformed pancreatic flow output rate on S-MRCP in patients with chronic pancreatitis. Far-field spectroscopy and mapping of electromagnetic near-field distribution are the two dominant tools for analysis and characterization of the electromagnetic response in nanophotonics. Despite the widespread use, these methods can fail at identifying weak electromagnetic excitations masked by stronger neighboring excitations. This is particularly problematic in ultrafast nanophotonics, including optical sensing, nonlinear optics and nanolasers, where the broad resonant modes can overlap to a significant degree. Here, using plasmonic metamaterials, we demonstrate that coherent spectroscopy can conveniently isolate and detect such hidden high-order photonic excitations. Our results establish that the coherent spectroscopy is a powerful new tool. It complements the conventional methods for analysis of the electromagnetic response, and provides a new route to designing and characterizing novel photonic devices and materials. In this work, acrylonitrile copolymers were prepared via precipitation polymerization. The copolymer solutions prepared at various ratio of dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylacetamide were tested to prepare the nascent fibers by one-step wet-spun method. The effect of temperature, solvent ratio, molecular weight and the solid content on the rheological properties of polyacrylonitrile gel solution in different mixed solvent were studied. It was shown that the viscosity decreased with the increase of the temperature and fluctuated with the different solvent ratio reaching the minimal value at the ratio of dimethyl sulfoxide to dimethylacetamide equal to 1.25. The crystallinity of copolymers and the structure of the nascent fiber surface also depended from the solvent ratio in polymerization. The optimum conditions for spinnability of copolymers were determined. The high-quality polyacrylonitrile precursor was achieved with the controllable range of 0.5-0.8 dtex and the toughness of polyacrylonitrile precursor was greater than 6.0 cN/dtex after the wet spinning process, while the tensile strength of carbon fiber is up to 6.25 GPa after their pre-oxidation and carbonization process. Background: Unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) has been gradually applied in clinical practice. UBE has two channels, with good visual field and operating space, and has achieved good results in the treatment of lumbar spine diseases. Some scholars combine UBE with vertebral body fusion to replace traditional open fusion surgery and minimally invasive fusion surgery. The efficacy of biportal endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (BE-TLIF) is still controversial. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, BE-TLIF and minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF) are compared in the efficacy and complications of lumbar degenerative diseases. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were used to search literatures related to BE-TLIF before January 2023, to identify relevant studies, and systematically review all literatures. Evaluation indicators mainly include operation time, hospital stay, estimated blood loss, visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Macnab. Results: A total of 9 studies were included in this study; a total of 637 patients were collected, and 710 vertebral bodies were treated. Nine studies showed that there was no significant difference in VAS score, ODI, fusion rate, and complication rate between BE-TLIF and MI-TLIF at the final follow-up after surgery. Conclusion: This study suggests that BE-TLIF is a safe and effective surgical approach. BE-TLIF surgery has similar good efficacy to MI-TLIF in the treatment of lumbar degenerative diseases. Objectives: To develop and validate a CT nomogram and a radiomics nomogram to differentiate mass-forming chronic pancreatitis (MFCP) from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP). Methods: In this retrospective study, the data of 138 patients with histopathologically diagnosed MFCP or PDAC treated at our institution were retrospectively analyzed. Two radiologists analyzed the original cross-sectional CT images based on predefined criteria. Image segmentation, feature extraction, and feature reduction and selection were used to create the radiomics model. The CT and radiomics models were developed using data from a training cohort of 103 consecutive patients. The models were validated in 35 consecutive patients. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was conducted to develop a model for the differential diagnosis of MFCP and PDAC and visualized as a nomogram. The nomograms' performances were determined based on their differentiating ability and clinical utility. Results: The mean age of patients was 53.7 years, 75.4% were male. The CT nomogram showed good differentiation between the two entities in the training (area under the curve [AUC], 0.87) and validation (AUC, 0.94) cohorts. The radiomics nomogram showed good differentiation in the training (AUC, 0.91) and validation (AUC, 0.93) cohorts. Decision curve analysis showed that patients could benefit from the CT and radiomics nomograms, if the threshold probability was 0.05–0.85 and > 0.05, respectively. Conclusions: The two nomograms reasonably accurately differentiated MFCP from PDAC in patients with CP and hold potential for refining the management of pancreatic masses in CP patients. Purpose: To develop and validate a radiomics model to predict fibroblast activation protein (FAP) expression in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive 152 patients with PDAC who underwent MDCT scan and surgical resection from January 2017 to December 2017 (training set) and from January 2018 to April 2018 (validation set). In the training set, 1409 portal radiomic features were extracted from each patient's preoperative imaging. Optimal features were selected using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression algorithm, whereupon the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) was developed using the radiomics features. The performance of the XGBoost classifier performance was assessed by its calibration, discrimination, and clinical usefulness. Results: The patients were divided into FAP-low (n = 91; 59.87%) and FAP-high (n = 61; 40.13%) groups according to the optimal FAP cutoff (45.71%). Patients in the FAP-low group showed longer survival. The XGBoost classifier comprised 13 selected radiomics features and showed good discrimination in the training set [area under the curve (AUC), 0.97] and the validation set (AUC, 0.75). It also performed well in the calibration test and decision-curve analysis, demonstrating its potential clinical value. Conclusions: The XGBoost classifier based on CT radiomics in the portal venous phase can non-invasively predict FAP expression and may help to improve clinical decision-making in patients with PDAC. Eucalyptus urophylla is an economically important tree species that widely planted in tropical and sub-tropical areas around the world, which suffers significant losses due to Ralstonia solanacearum. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism of pathogen-response of Eucalyptus. We collected the vascular tissues of a E. urophylla clone infected by R. solanacearum in the laboratory, and combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis to investigate the defense responses of Eucalyptus. A total of 11 flavonoids that differentially accumulated at the first stage or a later stage after infection. The phenylpropanoid of p-coumaraldehyde, the two alkaloids trigonelline and dl-ephedrine, two types of traditional Chinese medicine with patchouli alcohol and 3-dihydrocadambine, and the amino acid phenylalanine were differentially accumulated after infection, which could be biomarkers indicating a response to R. solanacearum. Differentially expressed genes involved in plant hormone signal transduction, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling, and amino acid metabolism were activated at the first stage of infection or a later stage, indicating that they may participate in the defense against infection. This study is expected to deliver several insights into the molecular mechanism in response to pathogens in E. urophylla, and the findings have far-reaching implications in the control of E. urophylla pathogens. Purpose: To develop and validate a machine-learning classifier based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) for the preoperative prediction of CD20+ B lymphocyte expression in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods: Overall, 189 patients with PDAC (n = 132 and n = 57 in the training and validation sets, respectively) underwent immunohistochemistry and radiomics feature extraction. The X-tile software was used to stratify them into groups with 'high' and 'low' CD20+ B lymphocyte expression levels. For each patient, 1409 radiomic features were extracted from volumes of interest and reduced using variance analysis and Spearman correlation analysis. A multilayer perceptron (MLP) network classifier was developed using the training and validation set. Model performance was determined by its discriminative ability, calibration, and clinical utility. Results: A log-rank test showed that the patients with high CD20+ B expression had significantly longer survival than those with low CD20+ B expression. The prediction model showed good discrimination in both the training and validation sets. For the training set, the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 0.82 (95% CI 0.74–0.89), 92.42%, 57.58%, 0.75, 0.69, and 0.88, respectively; whereas these values for the validation set were 0.84 (95% CI 0.72–0.93), 86.21%, 78.57%, 0.83, 0.81, and 0.85, respectively. Objective: To develop and validate a machine learning classifier based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), for the preoperative prediction of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Materials and methods: In this retrospective study, 156 patients with PDAC underwent MR scan and surgical resection. The expression of CD4, CD8 and CD20 was detected and quantified using immunohistochemistry, and TILs score was achieved by Cox regression model. All patients were divided into TILs score-low and TILs score-high groups. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method and the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) were used to select the features and to construct a prediction model. The performance of the models was assessed using the training cohort (116 patients) and the validation cohort (40 patients), and decision curve analysis (DCA) was applied for clinical use. Results: The XGBoost prediction model showed good discrimination in the training (AUC 0.86; 95% CI 0.79–0.93) and validation sets (AUC 0.79; 95% CI 0.64–0.93). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy for the training set were 86.67%, 75.00%, and 0.81, respectively, whereas those for the validation set were 84.21%, 66.67%, and 0.75, respectively. Decision curve analysis indicated the clinical usefulness of the XGBoost classifier. Objectives: To investigate the association between longitudinal total pulmonary infection volume and volume ratio over time and clinical types in COVID-19 pneumonia patients. Methods: This retrospective review included 367 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. All patients underwent CT examination at baseline and/or one or more follow-up CT. Patients were categorized into two clinical types (moderate and severe groups). The severe patients were matched to the moderate patients via propensity scores (PS). The association between total pulmonary infection volume and volume ratio and clinical types was analyzed using a generalized additive mixed model (GAMM). Results: Two hundred and seven moderate patients and 160 severe patients were enrolled. The baseline clinical and imaging variables were balanced using PS analysis to avoid patient selection bias. After PS analysis, 172 pairs of moderate patients were allocated to the groups; there was no difference in the clinical and CT characteristics between the two groups (p > 0.05). A total of 332 patients, including 396 CT scans, were assessed. The impact of total pulmonary infection volume and volume ratio with time was significantly affected by clinical types (p for interaction = 0.01 and 0.01, respectively) using GAMM. Total pulmonary infection volume and volume ratio of the severe group increased by 14.66 cm3 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.92 to 25.40) and 0.45% (95% CI: 0.13 to 0.77) every day, respectively, compared to that of the moderate group. Conclusions: Longitudinal total pulmonary infection volume and volume ratio are independently associated with the clinical types of COVID-19 pneumonia. Objectives: To develop and validate a nomogram for the preoperative prediction of pancreatic serous cystic neoplasm (SCN) and mucinous cystic neoplasm (MCN) based on multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). Materials and methods: In this retrospective study, the data of 227 patients with SCN and MCN were analyzed. Each patient underwent MDCT and surgical resection. A multivariable logistic regression model was developed using a training set consisting of 129 patients with SCN and 38 patients with MCN who were admitted between October 2012 and April 2019. The model was validated in 60 consecutive patients, 44 of whom had SCN and 16 of whom had MCN, admitted between May 2019 and April 2020. The regression model was adopted to establish a nomogram. Nomogram performance was determined by its discriminative ability and clinical utility. Result: The multivariable logistic regression model included sex, size, location, shape, cyst characteristic, and cystic wall thickening. The individualized prediction nomogram showed good discrimination in the training sample (AUC 0.89; 95% CI 0.83–0.95) and in the validation sample (AUC 0.81; 95% CI 0.70–0.94). If the threshold probability is between 0.03 and 0.9, and > 0.93 in the prediction model, using the nomogram to predict SCN and MCN is more beneficial than the treat-all-patients as SCN scheme or the treat-all-patients as MCN scheme. The prediction model showed better discrimination than the radiologists' diagnosis (AUC = 0.68). Purpose: We aimed to explore the relationship between the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomic score (rad-score) and the grades of non-functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-pNETs) and evaluate the potential of the calculated MRI rad-score to differentiate grade 1 from grade 2/3 NF-pNETs. Methods: This retrospective study assessed 157 patients with surgically resected, pathologically confirmed NF-pNETs who underwent magnetic resonance scans from November 2012 to December 2019. Radiomic features were extracted from arterial and portal venous MRI. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method were used to select the features. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between the MRI rad-score and NF-pNET grades. The MRI rad-score performance was assessed based on its discriminative ability and clinical usefulness. Results: The MRI rad-score, which consisted of seven selected features, was significantly associated with the NF-pNET grades. Every 1-point increase in the rad-score was associated with a 35% increased risk of grade 2/3 disease. The score also showed high accuracy (area under the curve = 0.775). The best cut-off point for maximal sensitivity and specificity was at 0.41. In the decision curves, when the threshold probability was higher than 0.3, the rad-score used in this study to distinguish grades 1 and 2/3 NF-pNETs offered more benefits than the use of a treat-all-patients or a treat-none scheme. Conclusions: The MRI rad-score showed a significant association with the grades of NF-pNETs. Thus, it may be used as a valuable non-invasive tool for differential NF-pNET grading. Objectives: To accurately identify the relationship between a portal radiomics score (rad-score) and pathologic superior mesenteric vein (SMV) resection margin and to evaluate the diagnostic performance in patients with pancreatic head cancer. Materials and methods: A total of 181 patients with postoperatively and pathologically confirmed pancreatic head cancer who underwent multislice computed tomography within one month of resection between January 2016 and December 2018 were retrospectively investigated. For each patient, 1029 radiomics features of the portal phase were extracted, which were reduced using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression algorithm. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between the portal rad-score and SMV resection margin. Results: Patients with negative (R0) and positive (R1) margins accounted for 70.17% (127) and 29.83% (54) of the cohort, respectively. The rad-score was significantly associated with the SMV resection margin status (p < 0.05). Multivariate analyses confirmed a significant and independent association between the portal rad-score and SMV resection margin (OR 4.62; 95% CI 2.19–9.76; p < 0.0001). The portal rad-score had high accuracy (area under the curve = 0.750). The best cut point based on maximizing the sum of sensitivity and specificity was − 0.741 (sensitivity = 64.8%; specificity = 74.0%; accuracy = 71.3%). Decision curve analysis indicated the clinical usefulness of radiomics score. Conclusions: The portal rad-score is significantly associated with the pathologic SMV resection margin, and it can accurately and noninvasively predict the SMV resection margin in patients with pancreatic cancer. Auxiliary activity family 9 (AA9) lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) show significant synergism with cellulase in cellulose degradation. In recent years, there have been many reports on AA9 LPMOs; however, the identification of efficient and thermostable AA9 LPMOs with broad potential for industrial applications remains necessary. In this study, a new AA9 LPMO from Talaromyces cellulolyticus, named TcAA9A, was identified. An analysis of the oxidation products of phosphoric acid-swollen cellulose categorized TcAA9A as a type 3 AA9 LPMO, and TcAA9A exhibited a better synergistic effect with cellulase from Trichoderma reesei than what is seen with TaAA9A, a well-studied AA9 LPMO from Thermoascus aurantiacus. Two AA9 LPMOs were successfully expressed in T. reesei, and the transformants were named TrTcAA9A and TrTaAA9A. The activities and thermostabilities of the AA9 LPMOs in TrTcAA9A were higher than those of the AA9 LPMOs in TrTaAA9A or the parent. The enzyme solution of TrTcAA9A was more efficient than that of the parent or TrTaAA9A for the degradation of Avicel and delignified corncob residue. Thus, TcAA9A showed a better performance than TaAA9A in T. reesei cellulase cocktails. Lignocellulosic biohydrogen is a promising renewable energy source that could be a potential alternative to the unsustainable fossil fuel-based energy. Biohydrogen production could be performed by Clostridium thermocellum that is the fastest known cellulose-degrading bacterium. Previous investigations have shown that the co-culture of C. thermocellum JN4 and a non-cellulolytic bacterium Thermoanaerobacterium thermosaccharolyticum GD17 produces more hydrogen than the C. thermocellum JN4 mono-culture, but the mechanism of this improvement is unknown. In this work, we carried out genomic and evolutionary analysis of hydrogenase-coding genes in C. thermocellum and T. thermosaccharolyticum, identifying one Ech-type [NiFe] hydrogenase complex in each species, and, respectively, five and four monomeric or multimeric [FeFe] hydrogenases in the two species. Further transcriptional analysis showed hydrogenase-coding genes in C. thermocellum are regulated by carbon sources, while hydrogenase-coding genes in T. thermosaccharolyticum are not. However, comparison between transcriptional abundance of hydrogenase-coding genes in mono- and co-cultures showed the co-culturing condition leads to transcriptional changes of hydrogenase-coding genes in T. thermosaccharolyticum but not C. thermocellum. Further metabolic analysis showed T. thermosaccharolyticum produces H at a rate 4-12-fold higher than C. thermocellum. These findings lead to the suggestion that the improvement of H production in the co-culture over mono-culture should be attributed to changes in T. thermosaccharolyticum but not C. thermocellum. Further suggestions can be made that C. thermocellum and T. thermosaccharolyticum perform highly specialized tasks in the co-culture, and optimization of the co-culture for more lignocellulosic biohydrogen production should be focused on the improvement of the non-cellulolytic bacterium. Homologs of the velvet protein family are encoded by the ve1, vel2, and vel3 genes in Trichoderma reesei. To test their regulatory functions, the velvet protein-coding genes were disrupted, generating Δve1, Δvel2, and Δvel3 strains. The phenotypic features of these strains were examined to identify their functions in morphogenesis, sporulation, and cellulase expression. The three velvet-deficient strains produced more hyphal branches, indicating that velvet family proteins participate in the morphogenesis in T. reesei. Deletion of ve1 and vel3 did not affect biomass accumulation, while deletion of vel2 led to a significantly hampered growth when cellulose was used as the sole carbon source in the medium. The deletion of either ve1 or vel2 led to the sharp decrease of sporulation as well as a global downregulation of cellulase-coding genes. In contrast, although the expression of cellulase-coding genes of the ∆ vel3 strain was downregulated in the dark, their expression in light condition was unaffected. Sporulation was hampered in the ∆ vel3 strain. These results suggest that Ve1 and Vel2 play major roles, whereas Vel3 plays a minor role in sporulation, morphogenesis, and cellulase expression. Trichoderma reesei is the most important industrial cellulase-producing filamentous fungus. Although its molecular physiology has been investigated, the signal transduction pathways are not fully understood. In particular, the role of casein kinase II (CKII) is not yet clear. In this work, we carried out functional investigations on a catalytic subunit of CKII, CKIIα2. Comparison of the phenotypic features of T. reesei parent and Δck2α2 strains showed significant changes following ck2α2 disruption. T. reesei Δck2α2 form significantly smaller mycelial pellets in glucose-containing liquid minimum media, have shorter and fewer branch hyphae, produce smaller amounts of chitinases, produce more spores, show more robust growth on glucose-containing agar plates, and consume glucose at a significantly higher rate. Suggestions can be made that CKIIα2 governs chitinase expression, and the disruption of ck2α2 results in lower levels of chitinase production, leading to a weaker cell wall disruption capability, further resulting in weaker hyphal branching, which eventually leads to smaller mycelial pellets in liquid media. Further conclusions can be made that CKIIα2 is involved in repression of sporulation and glucose metabolism, which is consistent with the proposal that CKIIα2 represses global metabolism. These observations make the deletion of ck2α2 a potentially beneficial genetic disruption for T. reesei during industrial applications, as smaller mycelial pellets, more spores and more robust glucose metabolism are all desired traits for industrial fermentation. Acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) production from corncob was achieved using an integrated process combining wet disk milling (WDM) pretreatment with enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation by Clostridium acetobutylicum SE-1. Sugar yields of 71.3 % for glucose and 39.1 % for xylose from pretreated corncob were observed after enzymatic hydrolysis. The relationship between sugar yields and particle size of the pretreated corncob was investigated, suggesting a smaller particle size benefits enzymatic hydrolysis with the WDM pretreatment approach. Analysis of the correlation between parameters representing particle size and efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis predicted that frequency 90 % is the best parameter representing particle size for the indication of the readiness of the material for enzymatic hydrolysis. ABE production from corncob was carried out with both separate hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF) and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) processes using C. acetobutylicum SE-1. Interestingly, when considering the time for fermentation as the time for ABE production, a comparable rate of sugar consumption and ABE production in the SHF process (0.55 g/l·h sugar consumption and 0.20 g/l·h ABE production) could be observed when glucose (0.50 g/l·h sugar consumption and 0.17 g/l·h ABE production) or a mixture of glucose and xylose (0.68 g/l·h sugar consumption and 0.22 g/l·h ABE production) mimicking the corncob hydrolysate was used as the substrate for fermentation. This result suggested that the WDM is a suitable pretreatment method for ABE production from corncob owing to the mild conditions. A higher ABE production rate could be observed with the SSF process (0.15 g/l·h) comparing with SHF process (0.12 g/l·h) when combining the time for saccharification and fermentation and consider it as the time for ABE production. This is possibly a result of low sustained sugar level during fermentation. Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) have been promised as a renewable source for regenerative medicine, including providing a replacement therapy in type 1 diabetes. However, they have not yet been differentiated into functional insulin-secreting β cells. This is due partially to the knowledge gap regarding the transcription factors (TFs) required for pancreas development. We hypothesize that, if directed differentiation in vitro recapitulates the developmental process in vivo, ESCs provide a powerful model to discover novel pancreatic TF genes. Guided by knowledge of their normal development and using RT-PCR and immunochemical analyses, we have established protocols for directed differentiation of mouse ESCs into pancreatic progenitors. Microarray analyses of these differentiating ESC cells at days 0, 4, 8 and 15 confirmed their sequential differentiation. By day 15, we found up-regulation of a group of pancreatic progenitor marker genes including Pdx1, Ptf1a, Nkx6.1, Pax4 and Pax6. Consistently, Pdx1-immunoreactive cells were detected on day 15. Most of these Pdx1 cells also expressed Nkx6.1. Bioinformatic analyses of sequential datasets allowed identification of over 20 novel TF genes potentially important for pancreas development. The dynamic expression of representative known and novel genes was confirmed by quantitative real time RT-PCR analysis. pathogenic bacterial strain, ST-1, was isolated from a naturally infected silkworm. The strain was identified on the basis of its physiological and biochemical properties and the results of sequence analysis of its 16S rRNA gene. The results of the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that ST-1 shared the highest sequence identity (more than 99%) with Pseudomonas chlororaphis subsp. aurantiaca. ST-1 bacteria were gram-negative and 0.7-0.9 × 1.3-1.5 μm long, short rods with rounded ends. The strain could utilize sodium citrate, malonate, d-glucose, sucrose, d-fructose, d-mannose, and l-arabinose. Pathogenicity of ST-1 for silkworm could be depicted as a linear regression of the logarithm ( y) of ST-1 concentration against probability ( x) ( y = 0.4040 + 0.0600 x). The median lethal concentration (LC) was 2.12 × 10 cfu/ml. In conclusion, ST-1 was identified as Ps. chlororaphis subsp . aurantiaca. Prior studies in different tumor models have shown that, under conditions of PTEN deficiency, the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway appear to play a major role in the tumor cell’s proliferative and survival pathway, and that pharmacological inhibition of this pathway results in tumor growth inhibition. This study aimed to explore whether sensitivity to p38MAPK inhibitors are specifically due to status of PTEN in endometrial cancer cells. We developed a series of endometrial cancer cell lines with different PTEN expressions (Ishikawa, RL-952, HEC-1B and HEC-1A cells) or introduced the wild-type PTEN and PTEN-siRNA in four endometrial cancer cells to change its PTEN expression with a p38MAPK inhibitor, SB203580 for 2 days. Cell proliferation, cell apoptosis, and cell cycle distribution were studied, and activation of AKT, ATF-2, and p38MAPK was examined by Western blotting. In cultivated PTEN-deficient endometrial cancer cells, in addition to an activation of AKT, a phosphorylation of p38MAPK and ATF-2 was evident, while PTEN-positive endometrial cancer cells lacked AKT activation but revealed a reduced expression of p-p38MAPK and p-ATF-2. These PTEN-deficient endometrial cancer cells demonstrated an increased sensitivity to the anti-proliferative effects induced by SB203580 compared with the PTEN-positive endometrial cancer cells, which corresponded to alterations in cell cycle response and cell apoptosis. PTEN-deficient endometrial cancer cells exhibit higher p38MAPK activity, and genetic studies demonstrate that p38MAPK functions dependently of AKT. Furthermore, PTEN loss sensitizes cells to p38MAPK inhibition in endometrial carcinoma cells. These findings indicate that inhibitors of p38MAPK have the potential to be effective in the treatment of endometrial cancer patients with PTEN-deficient tumors and should be evaluated in this setting. A new alternariol derivative, 2240B ( 1), together with alternariol ( 2), alternariol 4,10-dimethyl ether ( 3), and alternariol 4-methyl ether ( 4), was isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of the liquid medium GYT of No. 2240, the mangrove endophytic fungus from the South China Sea Coast. The structure of compound 1 was unambiguously elucidated as alternariol 4-methyl-10-acethyl ester by spectra including one/two-dimensional NMR, HREIMS, IR, and UV. The structures of compounds 2–4 were also established by spectroscopic analyses and comparison with related literature data. The anticancer tests showed that compounds 2 and 4 had strong activities against KB and KBv200 cells with IC50 values of 3.17, 3.12, and 4.82, 4.94 µg/mL, while compounds 1 and 3 exhibited weak activities against the two kinds of tumor lines with IC50 values of more than 50 µg/mL. In vitro directed evolution, especially with DNA shuffling, is a powerful means in biological studies of protein structure and function, and consequently for industrial applications. Escherichia coli β-glucuronidase ( gusA) gene, a versatile and efficient reporter gene, was the model for studying in vitro directed evolution because of its stability, easy analysis of the enzyme properties and conveniently visible phenotype. We developed a high efficiency, throughput system for in vitro directed evolution using gusA reporter gene as the model. The system consisted mainly of three aspects: a prokaryotic expression vector pYPX251, an easy method for obtaining the mutated gene from DNA shuffling and a suitable selected strategy. The vector pYPX251 carried the moderately strong aacC1 gene promoter and T1T2 transcription terminator that allowed expression in E. coli. Over 10,000 individuals could be selected individually in a 9 cm Petri dish after colonies were absorbed on a nitrocellulose filter. A library, which contained 100,000 individuals was screened by incubating ten filter papers with X-Glu. The polymerase chain reaction products of the gusA gene, the fragments of 50–100 bp, with high mutation rates were purified using a dialysis bag from 10% PAGE after electrophoresis. The possibility of obtaining desirable mutations was increased dramatically as the size of the library expanded. A GUS variant, named GUS-TR, was obtained through this system, which is significantly more resistant to high temperature than the wild type enzyme. Natural rubber (NR)/Palygorskite composites were prepared by co-coagulating rubber latex and clay aqueous suspension. Org-palygorskite was attained by using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and the four factors influencing the average diameter of palygorskite were discussed. Four optimal conditions of preparing minimum average diameter were determined which included the concentration of palygorskite, the concentration of sodium polyacrylate, ultrasonic time and ultrasonic power. Mechanical properties suggested that composites using modified palygorskite which were dispersed by ultrasonic wave were the best, the tensile strength, tear strength, 300% modulus and shall hardness increased by 77.14%, 118.18%, 242.86% and 65.2%, respectively. Modified palygorskite was shown by FTIR spectrogram and observed by ESEM. Modified palygorskite dispersed by ultrasonic wave were dispersed into the rubble uniformly, some stick particles inserted into the rubber and it is difficult to find stick shape, and there were 20% particles belonging to nanomaterials and 80% micromaterials. A methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MePEG)-conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) polymeric conjugate is synthesized with the use of dicyclohexycarbodiimide and 4-dimethylaminopyridine as the coupling agent and the catalyst, respectively. Self-assembled MePEG-CLA conjugate micelles are prepared by dialysis in water. Fluorescence spectroscopy indicates that the MePEG-CLA conjugate exhibits a typical core-shell micellar structure, and the estimated critical micelle concentration is 1.2 × 10−5 mol L−1. Dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy demonstrate that the prepared MePEG-CLA micelles have spherical shape and an average diameter of approximately 100 nm. Paclitaxel is entrapped into MePEG-CLA lyophilized powder. The release of paclitaxel from the loaded micelles is investigated in vitro. Phytase is widespread in nature. It has been used as a cereal feed additive that can enhance the phosphorus and mineral absorption in monogastric animals to reduce the level of phosphorus output in manure. Phytase of Peniophora lycii is a 6′-phytase, which owns high specific activity. To achieve a high expression level of 6′-phytase in Pichia pastoris, the 1,230-bp phytase gene of P. lycii was synthesized and optimized for codon usage, G+C content, as well as mRNA secondary structures. The gene constructs containing wild type or modified phytase gene coding sequences under the control of the highly-inducible alcohol oxidase gene (AOX1) promoter, the synthetic signal peptide (designated MF4I), which is a codon-modified Saccharomyces cerevisiae mating factor α-prepro-leader sequence, were used to transform P. pastoris. The P. pastoris strain that expressed the modified phytase gene ( phy-pl-sh) with MF4I sequence produced 12.2 g phytase per liter of fluid culture, with the phytase activity of 10,540 U ml−1. The yield of the modified phytase gene, with bias codon usage and MF4I signal, is 4.4 times higher than that of the wild type gene with MF4I signal and 13.6 times higher than that of the wild type gene with wild type S. cerevisiae signal. The recombinant phytase had one optimum pH (pH 4.5) and an optimum temperature of 50°C. The lignocellulose degradation capacity of filamentous fungi has been widely studied because of their cellulase hypersecretion. The p24 proteins in eukaryotes serve important functions in this secretory pathway. However, little is known about the functions of the p24 proteins in filamentous fungi. In this study, four p24 proteins were identified in Penicillium oxalicum. Six p24 double-deletion strains were constructed, and further studies were carried out with the ΔerpΔpδ strain. The experimental results suggested that Erp and Pδ form a p24 heterodimer in vivo. This p24 heterodimer participates in important morphogenetic events, including sporulation, hyphal growth, and lateral branching. The results suggested that the p24 heterodimer mediates protein transport, particularly that of cellobiohydrolase. Analysis of the intracellular proteome revealed that the ΔerpΔpδ double mutant is under secretion stress due to attempts to remove proteins that are jammed in the endomembrane system. These results suggest that the p24 heterodimer participates in morphogenesis and protein transport. Compared with P. oxalicum Δerp, a greater number of cellular physiological pathways were impaired in ΔerpΔpδ. This finding may provide new insights into the secretory pathways of filamentous fungi. A total of 142 premenopausal women with symptomatic adenomyosis underwent ultrasound (US)-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (PMWA) at the Chinese PLA General Hospital. This study aimed to evaluate changes in serum pituitary, gonadal hormone and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) levels after US-guided PMWA. Therefore, estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin (PRL) and CA125 levels were evaluated before ablation and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after ablation. No significant differences were observed in the E2 and FSH levels pre-ablation and during follow-up (E2: p = 0.933, p = 0.987, p = 0.106, p = 0.936; FSH: p = 0.552, p = 0.295, p = 0.414, p = 0.760). The mean absolute values of serum CA125 and PRL were significantly decreased at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after ablation (CA125: p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p = 0.003; PRL: p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001). A significant correlation between changes in CA125 levels and uterine volume was found (p < 0.001). No evidence of a decline in ovarian function was observed after US-guided PMWA.
