In the confined space of the underground coal mine, which is dominated by transportation lanes, explosion-proof diesel-powered trackless rubber-wheeled vehicles are becoming the main transportation equipment, and the exhaust gas produced by them is hazardous to the health of workers and pollutes the underground environment. In this experiment, a similar test platform is built to study the effects of wind speed, vehicle speed, and different wind directions on the diffusion characteristics of exhaust gas. In this paper, CO and SO2 are mainly studied. The results show that the diffusion of CO and SO2 gas is similar and the maximum SO2 concentration only accounts for 11.4% of the CO concentration. Exhaust gas is better diluted by increasing the wind speed and vehicle speed, respectively. Downwind is affected by the reverse wind flow and diffuses to the driver's position, which is easy to cause occupational diseases. When the wind is a headwind, the exhaust gases spread upwards and make a circumvention movement, gathering at the top. When the wind speed and vehicle speed are both 0.6 m/s, the CO concentration corresponds to the change trend of the Lorentz function when the wind is downwind and the CO concentration corresponds to the change trend of the BiDoseResp function when the wind is headwind. To effectively control the dust generated by coal mining operations, a new type of cyclonic pneumatic mist curtain dust control device was developed. Using CFD software, numerical simulations were conducted on the internal airflow velocity field, the exit velocity of the cyclonic pneumatic mist curtain, and the mist droplet particle field of the curtain. Experiments were carried out to measure the spray coverage, droplet size, and the dust control performance of the model device. The results indicate that when the water pump supply pressure is 8 MPa, the fan supply wind speed is 12 m/s, and the nozzle installation angle is 75 degrees, the cyclonic pneumatic mist curtain dust control device model operates under optimal conditions. The effective coverage of the cyclonic mist curtain is 380 × 3300 mm, fully suppressing dust generation on one side of the curtain. An optimal dust removal distance of about 90 cm was determined. After installing the cyclonic pneumatic mist curtain dust control device, the average dust reduction efficiency for respirable dust reached 91.07%, and the overall dust reduction efficiency achieved 93.34%. In order to efficiently and accurately control coal dust pollution in coal mining faces, this study addresses the insufficient research on the dust generation mechanism during cutting. Firstly, a similar experimental platform for simulating coal wall cutting with a drum cutter was used to investigate the changes in coal wall fragmentation and dust generation at drum speeds of 35 r/min, 50 r/min, 65 r/min, and 80 r/min. The experimental results revealed that the degree of coal wall fragmentation and dust generation increased with the increase in rotational speed, leading to a wider range of particle size distribution and an increase in the generation of fine dust particles. A 1:1 scale discrete element simulation of coal wall cutting with a drum cutter was conducted based on the experiments. The results indicated that, under the four rotational speeds, the cracks generated during coal wall fracture were predominantly tensile cracks, accounting for over 76% of the total crack count. The total number of cracks increased from 10,600 to 11,200, the number of free single particles increased from 2555 to 2728, and the fragmentation volume increased from 0.021607 to 0.023024 m3. To solve the problem of excessive dust concentration in the belt transportation roadway of the mine. Numerical simulations were used to study the dust migration in the belt transportation roadway under 1.5 m/s ventilation conditions. The simulation results show the process of dust ejection from the inflow chute to contamination of the whole belt transportation roadway, and the spatial distribution of dust velocity. A comprehensive dust reduction scheme of "central suppression and bilateral splitting" was designed according to the dust distribution, with simultaneous control of the infeed chute and the roadway. In practical application, pneumatic spraying greatly reduces the amount of dust in the guide chute. The misting screen has a significant effect on dust collection and segregation. In order to deal with the great surface tension and difficulty on wetting the micro dust, this paper designs wetting experiment of surfactant and studied the influence of its concentration on the contact angle and reduction efficiency of coal dust. Based on the collision coupling mechanism between surfactant and coal dust, the contact angle between surfactant and coal powder is measured by drop angle method. An experimental platform for spray dust suppression is designed, and dust removal efficiency is calculated by adding surfactant in the water. The experimental results show that the wettability of surfactant to coal dust increases with the increase of its concentration. When the surfactant concentration reaches the critical micelle concentration, the solution has the best wettability to coal dust. The wettability of anionic surfactant solution to coal dust is stronger than that of nonionic surfactant solution and cationic surfactant solution; with the increasing surfactant concentration, the efficiency of air water spray and dust removal is the optimal when the surfactant concentration reaches critical micelle concentration. To simulate the transonic atomization jet process in Laval nozzles, to test the law of droplet atomization and distribution, to find a method of supersonic atomization for dust-removing nozzles, and to improve nozzle efficiency, the finite element method has been used in this study based on the COMSOL computational fluid dynamics module. The study results showed that the process cannot be realized alone under the two-dimensional axisymmetric, three-dimensional and three-dimensional symmetric models, but it can be calculated with the transformation dimension method, which uses the parameter equations generated from the two-dimensional axisymmetric flow field data of the three-dimensional model. The visualization of this complex process, which is difficult to measure and analyze experimentally, was realized in this study. The physical process, macro phenomena and particle distribution of supersonic atomization are analyzed in combination with this simulation. The rationality of the simulation was verified by experiments. A new method for the study of the atomization process and the exploration of its mechanism in a compressible transonic speed flow field based on the Laval nozzle has been provided, and a numerical platform for the study of supersonic atomization dust removal has been established. A solar pond, typical double-diffusive system, is a stable heat source that can collect and store the solar energy. When the thermal stable condition is not satisfied at the interface, the upper and lower convective zone (UCZ and LCZ) will erode the middle non-convective zone (NCZ), resulting in a drop or even a collapse of the thermal performance of solar pond. Wind strongly affects the erosion of NCZ from the entrainment of UCZ. The double-diffusion of heat and salt plays an important role in the erosion of NCZ from the entrainment of the lower-convective zone (LCZ). The turbidity of saline water in the pond not only could lower the thermal performance of solar pond, but have effect on the entrainment mechanism. In this paper, based on the double-diffusive model along with the wind-driven turbulent entrainment model, the effects of turbidity and external wind etc. on the thermal performance of solar pond and the entrainment mechanism are analyzed with the numerical simulation.
