We study the use of the self-Kerr and cross-Kerr nonlinearities to realize strong photon blockade in a weakly driven, four-mode optomechanical system. According to the Born—Oppenheimer approximation, we obtain the cavity self-Kerr coupling and the inter-cavity cross-Kerr coupling, adiabatically separated from the mechanical oscillator. Through minimizing the second-order correlation function, we find out the optimal parameter conditions for the unconventional photon blockade. Under the optimal conditions, the strong photon blockade can appear in the strong or weak nonlinearities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigate the use of the cross-Kerr nonlinearity to realize strong photon blockade in a weakly driven, three-mode system. The results show that the conventional photon blockade induced by the strong nonlinearities and the unconventional photon blockade induced by quantum interference effects exist in our system. In particular, we find that the CPB only appears in the strong cross-Kerr coupling regime, while the UPB can occur in the weak or strong cross-Kerr coupling regime. For the strong cross-Kerr nonlinearities, both CPB and UPB exhibit strong antibunching features. Furthermore, the switch between CPB and UPB can be achieved with different detunings. Wasted coffee grounds (WCGs) were activated by a pyrolysis process using KOH, where the porosity increased with temperature, exhibiting a micropore-dominant structure. WCGs upon an activation temperature of 800 °C (AWCG800) showed a surface area up to 1856 m2 g−1 and a specific capacitance of 180.3 F g−1 in 1 M NaCl solution at a scan rate of 10 mV s−1. The AWCG800 electrodes showed an electrosorption capacity up to 12.50 and 16.50 mg g−1 in NaCl solution at cell voltages of 1.2 and 1.4 V, respectively, with an initial concentration of 5 mM. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis indicated that AWCG800 maintained a high carbon content of 87 at% upon the activation process. The study suggests a practical way for converting WCGs into mesoporous and microporous carbons with large surface area and pore volume, high carbon component, and good wettability to water, which is promising for capacitive deionization application. In this paper, the recent research on the enhanced Kerr nonlinearity and its application in entangled state discrimination is reported. Two kinds of dynamics, including interacting double dark resonances and spontaneously generated coherence, are presented to enhance the Kerr nonlinearity. The application of Kerr nonlinearity in quantum state discrimination is also discussed. An arbitrary Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state can be discriminated using two-photon polarization parity detection which resorts to cross-Kerr nonlinearity between a single-photon qubit and probe field. In addition, a scheme for Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state discrimination of matter qubits is also proposed using the dipole induced transparency in a cavity-dipole system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
