Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a global surge in Sinophobia. We examine how Chinese language users responded to COVID-19 on Western social media by compiling a unique database (CNTweets) with over 25 million Chinese tweets mentioning any Chinese characters related to China, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Chinese, and Asians from December 2019 to April 2021. Our analysis of Twitter users’ self-reported geographic information shows that most Chinese language users on Twitter originated from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States. We then adopt the Robustly Optimized Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (RoBERTa) and structural topic modeling to further analyze the sentiments, content, and topics of Chinese tweets during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our results suggest that 61.8% of tweets in our database were contributed by only 1% of Twitter users and 62.2% of tweets were negative toward China. Despite the prevalence of anti-China sentiments, the target entity analysis shows that these negative sentiments were more likely to target the Chinese government and CCP than the Chinese people. Our findings also show that the most popular topics were politics (e.g., Hong Kong protests and Taiwan issues), COVID-19, and the United States (e.g., the US-China relations and domestic issues). Anti-China users focused relatively more on political issues such as democracy and freedom, while pro-China users mentioned cultural and economic topics more. Our social network analysis reveals that these pro-China and anti-China Twitter users lacked in-depth engagement in China-related conversations and were highly segregated from each other. We conclude by discussing our contributions to China and social media studies and possible policy implications.

Abstract Labor mobility is an inherent component of economic development and labor market changes. With globalization and urbanization, labor mobility is on the rise in many developing countries, and it is of great significance to study the economic outcomes and poverty alleviation effects of this phenomenon. This paper explores the impact of labor mobility on the wages of rural migrants when they move out with their fellow townsmen (folks from the same county). The study uses the China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS) data and applies the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method for empirical analysis. Our results suggest that labor mobility with fellow townsmen significantly increases the wages of rural migrants. The paper shows two promotion mechanisms: mobility with fellow townsmen affects the wages of rural migrants by improving their ability to search for information and negotiate wages. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that mobility with fellow townsmen significantly increases the wages of rural migrants engaged in producer service, consumer service, blue-collar occupations, and working in state-owned and private enterprises. Furthermore, it has a more positive impact on the wages of older rural migrants from an intergenerational perspective. Interestingly, rural migrants may “give up” part of their wages to care for their families when they move with their spouses, parents, or children. Therefore, the government needs to take effective policy measures to promote the employment service system and improve the labor rights and interests protection mechanism for rural migrants.

Stent implantation effectively relieves coronary artery disease (CAD), and post-surgery cardiac rehabilitation is essential for prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of patients undergoing coronary artery stenting regarding cardiac rehabilitation. Conducted in multiple hospitals from December 2023 to January 2024, a self-administered questionnaire collected demographic information and KAP scores. A total of 452 valid subjects were included, with 262 participating in cardiac rehabilitation. The average age was 56.76 ± 12.97 years, with 57.52% male and 72.35% urban residents. Mean KAP scores were 14.63 ± 4.70 (knowledge), 37.50 ± 4.15 (attitude), and 30.96 ± 4.49 (practice). Positive correlations were found between KAP scores (r = 0.378–0.474, P < 0.001). Urban residence, angina, and myocardial infarction diagnoses were positively associated with knowledge (OR = 1.881–3.192, P < 0.05). Conversely, medical insurance, continued drinking post-implantation, and other underlying diseases were negatively associated (OR = 0.193–0.592, P < 0.05). Myocardial infarction diagnosis (OR = 2.059, P = 0.026) and health education (OR = 1.830, P = 0.018) positively influenced attitudes. Medical insurance was associated with practice (OR = 4.567, P = 0.028). Patients showed moderate knowledge and positive attitudes towards cardiac rehabilitation, highlighting the need for educational interventions for rural residents and individuals who did not initiate rehabilitation. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), a noninvasive neuroregulatory technique used to treat neurodegenerative diseases, holds promise for spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) treatment, although its efficacy and mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to observe the short-term impact of cerebellar rTMS on motor function in SCA3 patients and utilize resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (RS-fMRI) to assess potential therapeutic mechanisms. Twenty-two SCA3 patients were randomly assigned to receive actual rTMS (AC group, n = 11, three men and eight women; age 32–55 years) or sham rTMS (SH group, n = 11, three men and eight women; age 26–58 years). Both groups underwent cerebellar rTMS or sham rTMS daily for 15 days. The primary outcome measured was the ICARS scores and parameters for regional brain activity. Compared to baseline, ICARS scores decreased more significantly in the AC group than in the SH group after the 15-day intervention. Imaging indicators revealed increased Amplitude of Low Frequency Fluctuation (ALFF) values in the posterior cerebellar lobe and cerebellar tonsil following AC stimulation. This study suggests that rTMS enhances motor functions in SCA3 patients by modulating the excitability of specific brain regions and associated pathways, reinforcing the potential clinical utility of rTMS in SCA3 treatment. All-insulator heterostructures with an emerging metallicity are at the forefront of material science, which typically contain at least one band insulator while it is not necessary to be. Here we show emergent phenomena in a series of all-correlated-insulator heterostructures that composed of insulating CaIrO3 and insulating La0.67Sr0.33MnO3. We observed an intriguing insulator-to-metal transition, that depends delicately on the thickness of the iridate component. The simultaneous enhancements of magnetization, electric conductivity, and magnetoresistance effect indicate a percolation-type nature of the insulator-to-metal transition, with the percolation threshold can be reached at an exceptionally low volume fraction of the iridate. Such a drastic transition is induced by an interfacial charge transfer, which interestingly alters the electronic and crystalline structures of the bulk region rather than the limited ultrathin interface. We further showcased the central role of effective correlation in modulating the insulator-to-metal transition, by demonstrating that the critical thickness of iridate for triggering the metallic state can be systematically reduced down to a single unit-cell layer. Insulator-metal transitions driven by electronic correlations in oxide heterostructures have been widely studied, usually involving a correlated insulator and a band insulator. We discuss heavy particles that can be used to pin down the faithful Standard Model (SM) gauge group and their patterns in the SM effective field theory (SMEFT). These heavy particles are not invariant under a specific ℤ6 subgroup of SU(3)c × SU(2)L × U(1)Y, which however acts trivially on all the SM particles, hence the faithful SM gauge group remains undetermined. Different realizations of the faithful SM gauge group correspond to different spectra of heavy particles, and they also correspond to distinct sets of line operators with one-form global symmetry acting on them. We show that the heavy particles not invariant under the ℤ6 group cannot appear in tree-level ultraviolet completions of SMEFT, this enforces us to consider one-loop UV completions of SMEFT to identify the ℤ6 non-invariant heavy particles. We demonstrate with examples that correlations between Wilson coefficients provide an efficient way to examine models with ℤ6 non-invariant heavy particles. Finally, we prove that all the scalars that can trigger electroweak symmetry breaking must be invariant under the ℤ6 group, hence they cannot be used to probe the faithful SM gauge group. In this paper, we systematically investigate the general dark matter-electron interactions within the framework of effective field theories (EFTs). We consider both the non-relativistic (NR) EFT and the relativistic EFT descriptions of the interactions with the spin of dark matter (DM) up to one, i.e., the scalar (ϕ), fermion (χ), and vector (X) DM scenarios. We first collect the leading-order NR EFT operators describing the DM-electron interactions, and construct especially the NR operators for the vector DM case. Next, we consider all possible leading-order relativistic EFT operators including those with a photon field and perform the NR reduction to match them onto the NR EFT. Then we rederive the DM-bound-electron scattering rate within the NR EFT framework and find that the matrix element squared, which is the key input that encodes the DM and atomic information, can be compactly decomposed into three terms. Each term is a product of a DM response function (a0,1,2), which is essentially a factor of Wilson coefficients squared, and its corresponding generalized atomic response function W ~ 0 , 1 , 2 . Lastly, we employ the electron recoil data from the DM direct detection experiments (including XENON10, XENON1T, and PandaX-4T) to constrain all the non-relativistic and relativistic operators in all three DM scenarios. We set strong bounds on the DM-electron interactions in the sub-GeV region. Particularly, we find that the latest PandaX-4T S2-only data provide stringent constraints on dark matter with a mass greater than approximately 20 MeV, surpassing those from the previous XENON10 and XENON1T experiments. In this paper, as-received Zn powder and as-prepared Zn@(ZnWO4/ZnO) core–shell powder were used as feedstocks for plasma spraying to prepare Zn-based composite coatings and nano-ZnO was co-deposited by chemical vapor deposition induced by plasma spraying. The composition and morphology were controllable within certain range by plasma spraying power. The photocatalytic activities of the coatings were analyzed by the degradation efficiency of methyl orange (MO) solution. It was found the photocatalytic activity can be improved with ZnWO4 decoration. The Zn/ZnO/ZnWO4 coating which presented tremella-like surface morphology was testified to have the best photocatalytic activity under UV light irradiation among all coatings. On the other hand, the chemical surface modification with 1H,1H,1H,2H-perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane (FAS-17) was implemented to produce superhydrophobic coatings. Among all modified coatings, the ZnWO4-containing coating with tremella-like surface structure presented the best superhydrophobicity. By the cyclic wetting and tape adhesion experiments, the tremella-like structure was proved to make a great improvement on the robustness of the Zn-based superhydrophobic coatings. The superhydrophobic and photocatalytic properties provide the possibility for the application of the coating in the fields of antifouling, antibacterial, and photocatalytic degradation of organics. The effective field theory approach parameterizes the low energy behaviors of all possible ultraviolet (UV) theories in a systematic way. One of the most important tasks is thus to find the connection between the effective operators and their UV origins. The redundancy relations among operators make the connection very subtle, hence we proposed the J-basis prescription to illuminate the correspondence between operators and their UV resonances in the bottom-up way. In this work, we work out the dimension-8 J-basis operators in the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT), and find all the 146 (82) tree-level UV resonances along with their couplings up to mass dimension 5 (4). Furthermore, we point out a few subtleties on operator generation via field redefinition and on the UV Lagrangian for generic spin resonances. We investigate the prospects for resonant di-Higgs and heavy Higgs production searches at the 14 TeV HL-LHC in the combination of bbγγ and 4l channels, as a probe of a possible first order electroweak phase transition in real singlet scalar extension of the Standard Model. Event selection follows those utilized in the bbγγ and 4l searches by the ATLAS Collaboration, applied to simulation using benchmark parameters that realize a strong first order electroweak phase transition. The output of discriminant analysis is implemented by numerical calculation, optimised by the joint restriction from the two channels. The prospective reach for bbγγ/4l channel could be more competitive in probing the electroweak phase transition at lower/higher resonance masses. With 3 ab−1 integrated luminosity, the combination of the bbγγ and 4l channels can discover/exclude a significant portion of the viable parameter space that realizes a strong first order phase transition when the resonance mass is heavier than 500 GeV. We introduce the effective field theory of two different light dark particles interacting with the standard model (SM) light states in a single vertex, termed dark sector effective field theory (DSEFT). We focus on the new light particles with spin up to 1 and being real in essence, namely, new real scalars ϕ and S, Majorana fermions χ and ψ, and real vectors Xμ and Vμ. In the framework of low energy effective field theory with QED and QCD symmetry, the DSEFT can be classified into six categories, including the scalar-scalar-SM (ϕS-SM), fermion-fermion-SM (χψ-SM), vector-vector-SM (XV-SM), scalar-fermion-SM (ϕχ-SM), scalar-vector-SM (ϕX-SM), and fermion-vector-SM (χX-SM) cases. For each case, we construct the effective operator basis up to canonical dimension 7, which will cover most interesting phenomenology at low energy. As a phenomenological example, we investigate the longstanding neutron lifetime anomaly through the neutron dark decay modes n → χϕ or χX from the effective interactions in the fermion-scalar-SM or fermion-vector-SM case. When treating the light fermion as a dark matter candidate, we also explore the constraints from DM-neutron annihilation signal at Super-Kamiokande. We find the neutron dark decay in each scenario can accommodate the anomaly, at the same time, without contradicting with the Super-Kamiokande limit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A11 dopaminergic neurons regulate somatosensory transduction by projecting from the diencephalon to the spinal cord, but the function of this descending projection in itch remained elusive. Here, we report that dopaminergic projection neurons from the A11 nucleus to the spinal dorsal horn (dopaminergicA11‐SDH) are activated by pruritogens. Inhibition of these neurons alleviates itch‐induced scratching behaviors. Furthermore, chemogenetic inhibition of spinal dopamine receptor D1‐expressing (DRD1+) neurons decreases acute or chronic itch‐induced scratching. Mechanistically, spinal DRD1+ neurons are excitatory and mostly co‐localize with gastrin‐releasing peptide (GRP), an endogenous neuropeptide for itch. In addition, DRD1+ neurons form synapses with GRP receptor‐expressing (GRPR+) neurons and activate these neurons via AMPA receptor (AMPAR). Finally, spontaneous itch and enhanced acute itch induced by activating spinal DRD1+ neurons are relieved by antagonists against AMPAR and GRPR. Thus, the descending dopaminergic pathway facilitates spinal itch transmission via activating DRD1+ neurons and releasing glutamate and GRP, which directly augments GRPR signaling. Interruption of this descending pathway may be used to treat chronic itch. We construct the on-shell amplitude basis and the corresponding effective operators for generic modified gravity theory, such as pure gravity with higher derivatives, scalar-tensor gravity, Einstein-Yang-Mills, etc. Taking the Weyl tensor as the building block, we utilize the Young tensor technique to obtain independent operators, without equation of motion and total derivative redundancies. We update our algorithm and vastly increase the speed for finding the monomial basis (m-basis) of effective operators expressed in terms of Weyl tensors with Lorentz indices, the familiar form for the General Relativity community. Free amino acids (FAAs) are believed to play important roles in osmoregulation and buffer capacity in some aquatic animals, such as fishes. However, the potential roles of FAAs have not been systematically summarized and characterized until now. In the present study, the meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the relationships between FAAs and environmental salinities. Twenty published documents were included, accounting for 106 study cases. The effect sizes of total free amino acids (TFAAs), total essential amino acids (TEAAs), and total non-essential amino acids (TNEAAs) to salinity increase were calculated and determined by the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method. It clearly showed that the elevated salinities significantly induced the contents of TFAAs, TEAAs, and TNEAAs at the ratio of 36%, 27%, and 29%, respectively. Faced to the salinity changes, the contents of FAAs in fishes under freshwater and seawater varied significantly, while the individuals under brackish water displayed relatively constant contents of FAAs. When salinity elevated, the contents of 17 amino acids in muscles significantly increased, suggesting the important roles of FAA metabolism in osmoregulation in fishes. The results also indicated that the effect sizes of TFAAs were positively related to the rates of salinity increases, and exhibited a significant quadratic linear relationship with temperatures. Additionally, the contents of FAAs also showed positive correlation with osmotic pressure, concentrations of plasma Na+, Cl−, and urea, implying their potential roles of FAAs in osmoregulation in fishes. These findings suggested that elevated salinities greatly induced the contents of FAAs in fishes, making a great contribution to maintaining the homeostasis of fishes in response to environmental salinity changes. Three novel N-rich hypercrosslinked porous polymers (NHCP1, NHCP2, and NHCP3) were facilely developed using Friedel-Crafts alkylation. NHCP1 with a remarkably large surface area (2066 m2 g−1) showed the best adsorption performance for chlorophenol pollutants. A sensitive and simple method was developed by using NHCP1 as a sorbent for solid-phase extraction to preconcentrate several chlorophenols in honey, water, and peach beverage samples followed by determination using a high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detector. The detection wavelength was 280 nm. Under the optimized conditions, the linear ranges were 1.67–1000 ng g−1 for honey, 0.170–100 ng mL−1 for water, and 0.330–100 ng mL−1 for peach beverage samples. The detection limits (S/N = 3) were 0.500–2.00 ng g−1, 0.0500–0.100 ng mL−1, and 0.100–0.200 ng mL−1, respectively. Recovery values were 89.3–111% with relative standard deviations <9.4%. The proposed extraction/preconcentration and quantitative analysis method provides an affordable and effective alternative for the preconcentration and determination of low levels of chlorophenols in real samples. We for the first time identify all the dimension-8 (dim-8) SMEFT operators that can have an interference with the SM with E4/Λ4 enhancement in the high energy limit for the processes q q ¯ → WW / WZ . Our results therefore explicitly show that the non-interference observed for the dimension-six does not extend to dimension-eight. We compute the contributions of those dimension-8 operators to the cross-section at the 14 TeV Large Hadron Collider and compare the results with dimension-6 (dim-6) originated corrections at the order of dim-6-SM interference and dim-6 squared. We find one (two) dim-8 operator(s) can generate amplitudes of a similar order of magnitude compared with their dim-6 squared counterparts assuming unity dimensionless Wilson coefficients. During the study, new non-interference scenarios are found due to the selection rule of angular momentum as well as strong suppression due to the symmetric initial state for the proton-proton collider. Purpose: To investigate the value of the combined diagnosis of multiparametric MRI-based deep learning models to differentiate triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) from fibroadenoma magnetic resonance Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System category 4 (BI-RADS 4) lesions and to evaluate whether the combined diagnosis of these models could improve the diagnostic performance of radiologists. Methods: A total of 319 female patients with 319 pathologically confirmed BI-RADS 4 lesions were randomly divided into training, validation, and testing sets in this retrospective study. The three models were established based on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, and T2-weighted imaging using the training and validation sets. The artificial intelligence (AI) combination score was calculated according to the results of three models. The diagnostic performances of four radiologists with and without AI assistance were compared with the AI combination score on the testing set. The area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and weighted kappa value were calculated to assess the performance. Results: The AI combination score yielded an excellent performance (AUC = 0.944) on the testing set. With AI assistance, the AUC for the diagnosis of junior radiologist 1 (JR1) increased from 0.833 to 0.885, and that for JR2 increased from 0.823 to 0.876. The AUCs of senior radiologist 1 (SR1) and SR2 slightly increased from 0.901 and 0.950 to 0.925 and 0.975 after AI assistance, respectively. Conclusion: Combined diagnosis of multiparametric MRI-based deep learning models to differentiate TNBC from fibroadenoma magnetic resonance BI-RADS 4 lesions can achieve comparable performance to that of SRs and improve the diagnostic performance of JRs. Background and aims: The plant growth promoting rhizobacteria have been repeatedly addressed in improving plant growth and resistance against pathogens. This study explored the role of Paraburkholderia sp. GD17 in improving tomato plant growth and resistance to Botrytis cinerea (Bc). Methods: Tomato roots were treated with GD17 strain, and then the leaves were inoculated with Bc. Physiological and biochemical parameters, and gene expression were analyzed. Results: In the absence of Bc, GD17 efficiently improved plant growth, and increased photosynthetic efficiency. In the presence of Bc, GD17-bacterized plants exhibited an enhanced resistance, as indicated by 67% of disease index in non-bacterized plants, while by 24% in bacterized ones. In response to Bc, the defense reaction was reinforced in bacterized plants, as shown by enhanced antioxidative capacity and mitigated oxidative damage, as well as increased PR gene expression in bacterized plants compared with control. Photosynthesis was inhibited by Bc inoculation, to a greater degree in non-bacterized plants than in bacterized ones. In the presence of Bc, soluble sugar contents significantly increased in non-bacterized plants, while it was controlled in bacterized plants. The carbohydrate catabolism-related genes, including starch degradation, photorespiration, and pentose phosphate pathway, generally presented a higher expression in bacterized plants under Bc attack. Conclusions: GD17 strain improved tomato plant growth by increasing the photosynthetic efficiency. GD17 enhanced plant resistance against Bc-induced disease by increasing defense and alleviating oxidative damage. Alkene feedstocks are used to produce polymers with a market expected to reach 128.4 million metric tons by 2027. Butadiene is one of the impurities poisoning alkene polymerization catalysts and is usually removed by thermocatalytic selective hydrogenation. Excessive use of H2, poor alkene selectivity and high operating temperature (e.g. up to 350 °C) remain the most significant drawbacks of the thermocatalytic process, calling for innovative alternatives. Here we report a room-temperature (25~30 °C) electrochemistry-assisted selective hydrogenation process in a gas-fed fixed bed reactor, using water as the hydrogen source. Using a palladium membrane as the catalyst, this process offers a robust catalytic performance for selective butadiene hydrogenation, with alkene selectivity staying around 92% at a butadiene conversion above 97% for over 360 h of time on stream. The overall energy consumption of this process is 0.003 Wh/mLbutadiene, which is thousands of times lower than that of the thermocatalytic route. This study proposes an alternative electrochemical technology for industrial hydrogenation without the need for elevated temperature and hydrogen gas. Industrial thermocatalytic hydrogenation requires excessive H2 gas and high temperature operation. Here, the authors report a room-temperature electrochemistry-assisted hydrogenation process using a palladium membrane as the catalyst and water as the hydrogen source, eliminating the need for H2 gas. Purpose: Both cyclic pentapeptide c(RGDfK) and acridine orange (AO) exhibit antitumor effects and cell permeability. This study aimed to evaluate the nuclear targeting efficiency and safety of the nuclear targeting probe for bladder cancer (BCa) synthesized by c(RGDfK) and AO. Methods: The nuclear targeting probe AO-(cRGDfK)2 was synthesized from AO hydrochloride, azided c(RGDfK), and a near-infrared skeleton synthesized via click chemistry reactions. The effect of the AO-(cRGDfK)2 probe on cell viability was assessed in BCa 5637 cells. The tumor cell targeting efficacy of the AO-(cRGDfK)2 probe was evaluated in BCa cells in vitro and in tumor-bearing mice in vivo. Nuclear-specific accumulation of fluorescence probe in BCa tumor cells was evaluated using laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM). Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to detect histopathological changes in the spleen, heart, liver, and kidney. Results: The AO-(cRGDfK)2 probe did not cause a significant reduction in cell viability. LSCM analysis showed that AO-(cRGDfK)2 exhibited nuclear-specific ambulation in BCa cells and was not accumulated in 293T cells. Also, this probe efficiently targeted tumor cells in the serum and urine samples. In vivo imaging system of tumor-bearing mice showed that ~ 80% percent of fluorescence signal was accumulated in the tumor sites. The probe did not change histopathology in the heart, liver, spleen, and kidney in tumor-bearing mice after the 21-day treatment. Conclusions: The AO-(cRGDfK)2 probe exhibited nuclear-specific accumulation in BCa cells without cytotoxicity, which provides an innovative alternative to improve anticancer therapy for BCa. Melanocortin 3 and 4 receptors are two important neural G protein-coupled receptors that regulate energy homeostasis in vertebrates. Melanocortin receptor accessory protein 2 (MRAP2) is also involved in the regulation of food intake and body weight as a variable regulator of melanocortin receptors. Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a valuable cold-water fish cultured worldwide. In the rainbow trout model, we cloned and identified mrap2a, a paralog of mrap2. Rainbow trout mrap2a consisted of a 690 bp ORF and was expected to encode a putative protein of 229 amino acids. The qPCR results showed that rainbow trout mrap2a was expressed at high levels in brain tissue similar to mc3r and mc4r. In addition, co-immunoprecipitation verified that MRAP2a interacts with MC3R and MC4R in vitro and that MRAP2a is involved in and regulates the constitutive activity and signaling of MC3R and MC4R. MRAP2a reduced constitutive and agonist-stimulated cAMP levels of MC3R; furthermore, MRAP2a increased constitutive ERK1/2 activation but reduced ligand-induced stimulation at high levels of expression. For MC4R, MRAP2a showed decreased cAMP basal activity but increased agonist-stimulated cAMP signaling and increased ACTH ligand sensitivity. However, MRAP2a failed to affect MC4R constitutive activity and agonist-induced ERK1/2 signaling. Undoubtedly, our study will have great significance for revealing the conserved role of MC4R and MC3R signaling in teleost fish, especially in cold-water fish growth and energy homeostasis. Based on the molecular docking simulation and structure of larotrectinib, some larotrectinib derivatives as antitumor compounds were designed and synthesized. The antitumor activities of the synthesized compounds were tested by A549 and H1975 cell lines with larotrectinib as the positive control drugs. The molecular docking of the selected compounds with protein was carried out to further explain the binding modes and the ADME data of the compounds were predicted, which showed that the compounds had good physicochemical property and biological characteristics. A sensitive electrochemical sensor for the determination of carbendazim (CBZ) was developed with Ni-doping nanoporous carbon-graphene composite (G-Ni/C) as the electrode material. The combination of graphene and Ni-doping nanoporous carbon not only prevented the aggregation of graphene, but also improved electric conductivity and substantially enhanced the electro catalytic activity for CBZ sensing. The electrochemical characterization of G-Ni/C towards CBZ determination was conducted by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The sensor based on G-Ni/C/GCE exhibits good electroanalytical activity towards the electro-oxidation of CBZ at the potential of + 0.6 V vs Ag/AgCl. Some key factors including sample pH, scan rates, accumulation potential, and accumulation time were investigated. The method offered a wide linear range of 0.04 to 10.0 µM with a detection limit of 8.9 nM. The obtained sensor was successfully employed for the determination of CBZ in pond water and juice samples with RSD < 5.7% and recoveries in the range 91.3–111%. The transfer of the concept of chirality from molecules to synthesized nanomaterials has attracted attention amongst multidisciplinary teams. Here we demonstrate heterogeneous nucleation and anisotropic accumulation of Au nanoparticles on multilayer MoS2 planes to form chiroptically functional nanomaterials. Thiol amino acids with chiral conformations modulate asymmetric growth of gold nanoarchitectures on seeds of highly faceted Au/MoS2 heterostructures. Consequently, dendritic plasmonic nanocrystals with partial chiral morphologies are synthesized. The chirality of dendritic nanocrystals inherited from cysteine molecules refers to the structural characteristics and includes specific recognition of enantiomeric molecules. With integration of the intrinsic photothermal properties and inherited enantioselective characteristics, dendritic Au/MoS2 heterostructures exhibit chirality-dependent release of antimicrobial drugs from hydrogel substrates when activated by exogenous infrared irradiation. A three-in-one strategy involving synthesis of chiral dendritic heterostructures, enantioselective recognition, and controlled drug release system is presented, which improves nanomaterial synthetic technology and enhances our understanding of crucial chirality information. The standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) provides systematic parameterization of all possible new physics above the electroweak scale. According to the amplitude-operator correspondence, an effective operator can be decomposed into a linear combination of several j-basis operators, which correspond to local amplitudes carrying certain spin and gauge quantum numbers in a particular scattering channel. Based on the Poincare and gauge symmetries of scattering amplitude, we construct the j-basis using the Casimir method for both the Lorentz and gauge sectors. The quantum numbers of the j-basis operators fix the quantum numbers of any intermediate state in the corresponding amplitudes, such as a UV resonance. This can be re-interpreted as the j-basis/UV correspondence, thus obtaining the j-bases in all partitions of fields for an operator amounts to finding all of its UV origins at tree level, constituting the central part of the bottom-up EFT framework. Applying the j-basis analysis to SMEFT, we obtain a complete list of possible tree-level UV origins of the effective operators at the dimension 5, 6, 7, and all the bosonic operators at dimension 8. Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) is one of southern China's most important native tree species, which has experienced noticeable climate-induced changes. Published papers (1978–2020) on tree growth of Chinese fir forests in China were collected and critically reviewed. After that, a comprehensive growth data set was developed from 482 sites, which are distributed between 102.19° and 130.07°E in longitude, between 21.87° and 37.24°N in latitude and between 5 and 2260 m in altitude. The dataset consists of 2265 entries, including mean DBH (cm), mean H (m), volume (m3), biomass (dry weight) (kg) (stem (over bark) biomass, branches biomass, leaves biomass, bark biomass, aboveground biomass, roots biomass, total trees biomass) and related information, i.e. geographical location (Country, province, study site, longitude, latitude, altitude, slope, and aspect), climate (mean annual precipitation-MAP and mean annual temperature-MAT), stand description (origin, age, canopy density and stand density), and sample regime (plot size, number and investigation year). Our results showed that (1) the best prediction of height was obtained using nonlinear composite model Height = 1.3 + 34.23 ∗ (1 - e - 0.01025 ∗ DBH 1.347 ) , (R2 = 0.8715, p < 0.05), (2) the equation Volume = DBH2/(387.8 + 19,190/Height) (R2 = 0.9833, p < 0.05) was observed to be the most suitable model for volume estimation. Meanwhile, when the measurements of the variables are difficult to carry out, the volume model Volume = 0.03957 − 0.01215*DBH + 0.00118*DBH2 (R2 = 0.9573, p < 0.05) is determined from DBH only has a practical advantage, (3) the regression equations of component biomass against DBH explained more significant than 86% variability in almost all biomass data of woody tissues, which were ranked as total trees (97.25%) > aboveground (96.55%) > stems (with bark) (96.17%) > barks (88.95%) > roots (86.71%), and explained greater than 64% variability in branch biomass. The foliage biomass equation was the poorest among biomass components (R2 = 0.6122). The estimation equations derived in this study are particularly suitable for the Chinese fir forests in China. Coronaviruses can have a devastating impact on the health of humans and animals. Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes extremely high fatality rates in neonatal piglets, whereas severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the current COVID-19 pandemic in humans. As a critical component of the host antiviral innate immune response, type I interferon production and signaling play a very important role, especially in the initial phase of the antiviral responses. Coronaviruses have evolved multiple ways to counteract type I interferon responses. Although the primary functions of the nucleocapsid protein are to facilitate viral RNA replication and package viral genomic RNA into virions, recent studies have shown that the nucleocapsid protein is also involved in virus-host interactions. Purpose: The prolyl 3-hydroxylase family member 4 gene (P3H4) is involved in the development of human cancers. The association of P3H4 with bladder cancer (BC) prognosis is unclear. This study aimed to analyze the association of P3H4 with BC prognosis. Methods: RNA-Seq data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas project and BC microarray datasets (GSE13507, GSE31684, and GSE32548) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. We analyzed the differences in P3H4 expression levels between BC tumors and non-tumor tissues and between samples with different clinical information. The association of P3H4 and P3H4-related genes with BC prognosis and the possibility of using P3H4 expression as a prognostic biomarker in BC patients were also analyzed. RevMan was used to perform the meta-analysis. Results: P3H4 was upregulated in BC tissues compared with the adjacent non-tumor tissues (p = 4.06e−08). Univariate Cox regression analysis and meta-analysis showed that high P3H4 expression level contributed to a poor BC prognosis (Hazard ratio, HR = 1.348, 95% CI 1.140–1.594, p = 4.89e−04; meta-analysis: HR = 1.45, 95% CI 1.10–1.91; p = 9.00e−03). Among the genes related to P3H4, the PLOD1 gene was closely associated with P3H4 expression (r = 0.620, p = 2.49e−44). Also, a meta-analysis showed that PLOD1 expression was associated with a poor prognosis in BC patients (HR = 1.77, 95% CI 1.31–2.38; p = 2.00e−04). Ethylene insensitive (ein) mutation in Arabidopsis has been demonstrated to improve cadmium (Cd) tolerance, but the involved mechanisms still need to be clarified. In this study, the photosynthesis-related processes were addressed by comparatively analyzing the performance between Arabidopsis wild type (WT) plants and ethylene insensitive mutant ein2-1 under Cd stress. Exposure to 50 μM CdCl2 for 48 h decreased chlorophyll contents, Rubisco activity, and net photosynthetic rate, respectively, by 23, 24, and 28% in WT plants, while 13, 11, and 15% in the mutant, when compared with their control levels (without Cd). The expressions of photosynthesis-related genes presented a global down-regulation in WT plants, while they exhibited a mixed pattern in ein2-1 under Cd stress. The genes involved in carbon metabolisms generally expressed at a higher level in the mutant under Cd stress. Collectively, these data suggested that the role of ethylene in Arabidopsis plant response to Cd was correlated with the transcriptional regulation of genes related to photosynthesis and carbon metabolisms. The melanocortin-3 receptor (MC3R) is an important regulator of energy homeostasis and inflammation in mammals. However, its function in teleost fish needs to be further explored. In this study, we characterized rainbow trout MC3R (rtMC3R), which encoded a putative protein of 331 amino acids. Phylogenetic and chromosomal synteny analyses showed that rtMC3R was closely related to bony fishes. Quantitative PCR (qPCR) revealed that the transcripts of rtMC3R were highly expressed in the brain and muscle. The cellular function of rtMC3R was further verified by the signal-pathway-specific luciferase reporter assays. Four agonists such as α-MSH, β-MSH, ACTH (1–24), and NDP-MSH can active rtMC3R, increasing the production of intracellular cAMP and upregulating MAPK/ERK signals. Moreover, we found that rtMC3R stimulated with α-MSH and NDP-MSH can significantly inhibit the NF-κB signaling pathway. Three carbonyl-functional novel hypercrosslinked polymers (HCP-TPS, HCP-TPA, and HCP-TPP) were successfully fabricated through an one-step Friedel–Crafts acylation reaction by copolymerizing paraphthaloyl chloride with triphenylsilane, triphenylamine, and triphenylphosphine, respectively. The resultant HCPs contained plenty of carbonyl-functional groups. Among the series of such HCPs, HCP-TPS displayed the best adsorption capability to chlorophenols (CPs), and thus it was employed as solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent for enrichment of chlorophenols from water, honey, and white peach beverage prior to determination by high-performance liquid chromatography. Under the optimal conditions, the detection limits of the method (S/N = 3) were 0.15–0.3 ng mL−1 for tap water and leak water, 2.5–6.0 ng g−1 for honey sample and 0.4–0.6 ng mL−1 for white peach beverage sample. The recoveries of CPs in the spiked water, honey samples, and white peach beverage were in the range of 89.0–108.4%, 81.4–118.2%, and 85.0–113.5%, respectively. This work provides a new strategy for constructing functionalized HCPs as efficient SPE adsorbents. We obtain the complete and independent bases of effective operators at mass dimension 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 in both standard model effective field theory with light sterile right-handed neutrinos (νSMEFT) and low energy effective field theory with light sterile neutrinos (νLEFT). These theories provide systematical parametrizations on all possible Lorentz-invariant physical effects involving in the Majorana/Dirac neutrinos, with/without the lepton number violations. In the νSMEFT, we find that there are 2 (18), 29 (1614), 80 (4206), 323 (20400), 1358 (243944) independent operators with sterile neutrinos included at the dimension 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 for one (three) generation of fermions, while 24, 5223, 3966, 25425, 789426 independent operators in the νLEFT for two generations of up-type quarks and three generations of all other fermions. A ring-width series was developed from Dahurian larch (Larix gmelinii) in the northeastern forest area of Inner Mongolia, China. By analyzing the relationships between tree-ring data and climate records, an August–September mean maximum temperature (T89) series during 1845 and 2012 was reconstructed based on a simple linear regression equation. This reconstructed series explained 40.9% variance of the observed temperature from 1959 to 2012. The reconstructed T89 series was consistent with the historical disaster events caused by extreme climate (e.g., flood, frost disaster, and cold damage). Besides, the temperature comparisons showed that the year in which the warm months (April–September) in northeast China began to warm up has latitude differences. It started with a gradual delay from north to south, starting 1980 in the south region, after 1950 AD in the central region and after 1940 in the north region. Background and aims: The plant growth promoting rhizobacteria have been extensively implicated in plant responses to changing environments. However, the action mechanisms still need to be elucidated. This study addressed the effect of Paraburkholderia sp. GD17 on rice seedlings in responses to salt stress. Methods: The experiment consisted of GD17-inoculated and non-inoculated plants, with or without NaCl treatment. Physiological and biochemical parameters, and gene expression were analyzed. Results: GD17 efficiently colonized inside roots, and provided a protection against salt stress. Following exposure to 68 mM of NaCl for 48 h, although the accumulation of Na+ was not affected in GD17-inoculated (+ GD17) roots relative to non-inoculated ones, its concentration was substantially reduced in + GD17 shoots. The contents of K and other mineral elements were higher in + GD17 plants. The expression of Na+ and K+ transporter-encoding genes generally presented a higher level in + GD17 plants. The antioxidative defense especially related to the removal of H2O2 was more strongly activated in + GD17 plants. Correspondingly, salt-induced oxidative damage was significantly ameliorated. A substantial increase in proline content and gene expression was observed in + GD17 plants. Additionally, the cell wall invertase-encoding gene displayed a dramatically higher expression level in + GD17 plants. Conclusions: GD17 efficiently improved rice seedling tolerance to salt stress. The possible mechanisms might be associated with the absorption and redistribution of mineral elements, the vacuolar sequestration of Na+ as well as exclusion of Na+, antioxidative defense, the production of proline, and the sucrose catabolism in apoplast. The regulatory role of salicylic acid (SA) has been extensively reported in plants subjected to cadmium (Cd) stress. However, the underlying mechanisms still remain to be elucidated. This study provided evidence that root biological processes played crucial roles in SA-altering Arabidopsis plant responses to Cd stress. The nahG (naphthalene hydroxylase G)-transformed plants (with a significantly reduced endogenous SA) displayed a stronger tolerance, while the mutant snc1 (suppressor of nonexpressor of PR gene, constitutive 1; with high endogenous SA) was more sensitive, compared with wild-type (WT) plants under Cd stress. Correspondingly, a stronger antioxidative defense and a weaker oxidative stress were detected in nahG roots, while a more severe oxidative damage occurred in snc1 roots. The expression of a set of redox-related genes was examined, and mostly presented a higher level in nahG roots. A higher content of total flavonoids was observed in nahG roots under Cd stress, which was positively correlated with the expression of flavonoid biosynthesis-related genes. The metal-chelating and -sequestrating genes presented higher expression levels in nahG than in other two genotypes following Cd exposure. Noticeably, the pectin methylesterase inhibitor-encoding genes displayed dramatically high basal expression levels in nahG roots, and further induced under Cd stress. Accordingly, the pectin methylesterase activity was the least in nahG under both control and Cd stress. These results suggest that nahG-conferred Cd tolerance is associated with the root antioxidation defense, flavonoid biosynthesis, metal chelation and sequestration, and cell wall modification. We obtain the complete operator bases at mass dimensions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 for the low energy effective field theory (LEFT), which parametrize various physics effects between the QCD scale and the electroweak scale. The independence of the operator basis regarding the equation of motion, integration by parts and flavor relations, is guaranteed by our algorithm [1, 2], whose validity for the LEFT with massive fermions involved is proved by a generalization of the amplitude-operator correspondence. At dimension 8 and 9, we list the 35058 (756) and 704584 (3686) operators for three (one) generations of fermions categorized by their baryon and lepton number violations (∆B, ∆L), as these operators are of most phenomenological relevance. The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) provides a systematic and model-independent framework to study neutrino non-standard interactions (NSIs). We study the constraining power of the on-going neutrino oscillation experiments T2K, NOνA, Daya Bay, Double Chooz and RENO in the SMEFT framework. A full consideration of matching is provided between different effective field theories and the renormalization group running at different scales, filling the gap between the low-energy neutrino oscillation experiments and SMEFT at the UV scale. We first illustrate our method with a top- down approach in a simplified scalar leptoquark model, showing more stringent constraints from the neutrino oscillation experiments compared to collider studies. We then provide a bottom-up study on individual dimension-6 SMEFT operators and find NSIs in neutrino experiments already sensitive to new physics at ∼20 TeV when the Wilson coefficients are fixed at unity. We also investigate the correlation among multiple operators at the UV scale and find it could change the constraints on SMEFT operators by several orders of magnitude compared with when only one operator is considered. Furthermore, we find that accelerator and reactor neutrino experiments are sensitive to different SMEFT operators, which highlights the complementarity of the two experiment types. The Higgs sector in neutral naturalness models provides a portal to the hidden sectors, and thus measurements of Higgs couplings at current and future colliders play a central role in constraining the parameter space of the model. We investigate a class of neutral naturalness models, in which the Higgs boson is a pseudo-Goldstone boson from the universal SO(N)/SO(N − 1) coset structure. Integrating out the radial mode from the spontaneous global symmetry breaking, we obtain various dimension-six operators in the Standard Model effective field theory, and calculate the low energy Higgs effective potential with radiative corrections included. We perform a χ2 fit to the Higgs coupling precision measurements at current and future colliders and show that the new physics scale could be explored up to 2.3 (2.4) TeV without (with) the Higgs invisible decay channels at future Higgs factories. A lithium-ion battery thermal management system has always been a hot spot in the battery industry. In this study, a novel high-thermal-conductivity composite phase-change material (CPCM) made by paraffin wax and silicon was adopted to facilitate heat transfer. Moreover, high resistance or even insulation of CPCM is capable of preventing short circuits between the cells. The heat transfer mechanism of CPCMs was determined under a scanning electron microscope. A thermogravimetric analyzer was employed to determine the thermal stability. A differential scanning calorimeter was used to explore the thermophysical properties of the composite samples. By comparing the results of the experiment, it was reported that under the silicon carbide content of 5%, the parameters were better than others. The phase-change enthalpy of CPCM was 199.4 J/g, the leakage rate of liquid was 4.6%, and the melting point was 53.6 °C. To verify the practicality of CPCM, a three-dimensional layered battery pack model was built in the COMSOL Multiphysics software. By simulating the thermal runaway inside the battery packs of various materials, it was reported that the addition of CPCM significantly narrowed the temperature range of the battery pack from 300–370 to 303–304 K. Therefore, CPCM can effectively increase the rate of heat transfer to prevent the chain of thermal runaway reactions. It also enables the battery pack to run at a stable temperature. We investigate a simplified freeze-in dark-matter model in which the dark matter only interacts with the standard-model neutrinos via a light scalar. The extremely small coupling for the freeze-in mechanism is naturally realized in several neutrino-portal scenarios with the secret neutrino interactions. We study possible evolution history of the hidden sector: the dark sector would undergo pure freeze-in production if the interactions between the dark-sector particles are negligible, while thermal equilibrium within the dark sector could occur if the reannihilation of the dark matter and the scalar mediator is rapid enough. We investigate the relic abundance in the freeze-in and dark freeze-out regimes, calculate evolution of the dark temperature, and study its phenomenological aspects on BBN and CMB constraints, the indirect-detection signature, as well as the potential to solve the small scale structure problem. This study elucidates the causal relationship between urbanization (URB) and carbon emission (CE) in newly industrialized countries. Countries with high economic growth that have transitioned from agricultural to industrialized economies consume a substantial portion of the world's energy and release CE. Thus, we use the panel bootstrap Granger causality test to examine the nexus between URB and CE. The result shows that URB has a significant impact on the CE in seven countries, namely Brazil, China, India, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines and Thailand. On the other hand, CE Granger-causes URB only in South Korea. The results are consistent with the stochastic differential model, which states that CE is the combination of the rising urban population and economic activities. To minimize CE, these countries should implement energy efficiency policies, reduce the use of fossil fuels, move toward hydel and solar resources and emphasize the conservation of forests.
