Abstract The contemporary era’s extensive use of data, particularly in education, has provided new insights and benefits. This data is called ‘education big data’, and the process of learning through such data is called ‘learning analytics’. Education in big data and learning analytics are two important processes that produce impactful results and understanding. it is crucial to take advantage of these processes to enhance the current education system. We conduct a bibliometric analysis based on the PRISMA statement template. The publications used for the analysis are based on the years 2012–2021. We examine and analyze a total of 250 publications, mainly sourced from the Scopus database, for insights regarding education big data and learning analytics. All of the publications also undergo filtration according to specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the bibliometric analysis conducted, we discover the distribution of education big data and learning analytics publications across the years 2012–2021, the most relevant journals and authors, the most significant countries, the primary research keywords, and the most important subject area involved. This study presents the trends and recommendations in education big data and learning analytics. We also offer suggestions for improvement and highlight the potential for enhancement of the education system through the full utilization of education big data and learning analytics.

This study investigates the potential of renewable energy sources to address the growing energy demands of developing nations while ensuring environmental sustainability. Here, a model-based analysis to assess the feasibility of utilizing rice straw pyrolysis as a renewable energy source is investigated. The thermogravimetric analysis identified the optimal temperature range for pyrolysis (230–400 °C) and the Coats–Redfern model was employed for kinetic analysis. Diffusion models, particularly D3, exhibited the best fit with an activation energy of 16–18 kJ/mol. Thermodynamic analysis confirmed the endothermic nature of the process, with positive enthalpy and negative entropy changes indicating an increase in energy and a more ordered product. These findings suggest that rice straw pyrolysis holds promise as a viable renewable energy option. Numerous traditional practices are both beneficial and harmful. Traditional harmful practices, such as female genital mutilation and traditional cervical cauterization, are carried out for a number of reasons but can have negative health and social effects. In addition to deeply held beliefs, a lack of knowledge and awareness of the consequences of these practices contributes to the persistence of these issues. The objective of this study is to examine whether traditional cervical cauterizations were associated with preterm births in Somalia. This prospective cohort study was conducted at our hospital over a one-year period. Seven hundred and two patients were included in this study; these patients were divided into two groups, cauterized and non-cauterized groups, and the two groups were compared on pregnancy outcomes. We examined whether traditional cervical cauterizations were associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm births. According to the findings of this study, traditional cervical cauterization was prevalent among patients visiting MSTREH (n = 328, 46.7%). Infections of the uterine cervix and infertility were the two main indications for cauterization, 44.8%, and 34.8%, respectively.Being older, uneducated, and poverty were significantly associated with traditional cauterization (P < 0.001). There was a significant correlation between prior traditional cervical cauterization and the risk of preterm births. Women with prior cauterization were two and half times more likely to deliver a preterm fetus (OR: 2.64, 95% CI 2.15–3.33) compared to non-cauterized mothers. Our findings show that women who have previously undergone traditional cervical cauterization have a significantly higher risk of preterm birth and negative pregnancy outcomes than non-cauterized women. The project aimed to conduct an up-to-date and comprehensive bibliometric analysis of robotic surgery to provide a detailed and holistic understanding of the field. Three strategies were employed in the data analysis i.e. search terms were explored in (A) the title, abstract, and keywords and (B) only in the title of the documents. In 3rd part we analyzed the top 100 most cited papers. Vosviewer and R Studio were utilized for detailed bibliometric and network analyses. Strategy one identified 38,469 publications, and strategy two identified 6451 publications from 2001 to 2023. The top authors, universities, countries, sponsors, and sources based on the number of publications were identified for both strategies. The top 100 most cited papers were analyzed, providing the annual number of publications and various citation metrics. Top authors (by number of publications, total citations, h-index, g-index, and m-index), universities, and countries within these highly cited papers, along with their co-authorship networks and dynamics, were examined. Co-words analysis of the top 100 most cited papers revealed the primary focus of these documents across 25 categories. This comprehensive bibliometric analysis of robotic surgery highlighted significant contributions and collaborations in the field, emphasizing the importance of global and collaborative efforts in advancing robotic surgery research. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become essential in disaster management due to their ability to provide real-time situational awareness and support decision-making processes. Visual servoing, a technique that uses visual feedback to control the motion of a robotic system, has been used to improve the precision and accuracy of UAVs in disaster scenarios. The study integrates visual servoing to enhance UAV precision while exploring recent advancements in deep learning. This integration enhances the precision and efficiency of disaster response by enabling UAVs to navigate complex environments, identify critical areas for intervention, and provide actionable insights to decision-makers in real time. It discusses disaster management aspects like search and rescue, damage assessment, and situational awareness, while also analyzing the challenges associated with integrating visual servoing and deep learning into UAVs. This review article provides a comprehensive analysis to offer real-time situational awareness and decision support in disaster management. It highlights that deep learning along with visual servoing enhances precision and accuracy in disaster scenarios. The analysis also summarizes the challenges and the need for high computational power, data processing, and communication capabilities. UAVs, especially when combined with visual servoing and deep learning, play a crucial role in disaster management. Owning pets offers various potential health benefits; however, it can be associated with gastrointestinal illnesses due to poor food safety knowledge and practices. This study aimed to evaluate the level of food safety knowledge and practices among pet owners in Lebanon, exploring the association between their knowledge/practices and socio-demographic characteristics. The participants included 300 pet owners, representing various genders, ages, educational levels, educational backgrounds, and incomes. They completed a questionnaire of 72 food handling practices and knowledge questions related to preparation, cross-contamination, storage and hygiene. In parallel, 300 non-pet owners with comparable sociodemographic characteristics to pet owners (control group) completed the questionnaire. On average, food safety knowledge scores were 62.1 ± 14.9% and 58.7 ± 15.5% among pet and non-pet owners, respectively, and the difference was significant (p = 0.05). On the other hand, mean food safety practice scores were 41.3 ± 14.8% and 40.4 ± 15.3% among pet and non-pet owners, respectively, and the difference was not significant (p = 0.41). In the food safety knowledge part, non-pet owners who were young, high income, university graduate, and from health-related majors scored significantly (p < 0.05) higher, while among pet-owners, only participants with a university degree and from health-related majors scored significantly (p < 0.05) higher, in terms of knowledge. On the other hand, In the food safety practices part, non-pet owners who were young, high income, and university graduates scored significantly (p < 0.05) higher, while among pet-owners, only young and high-income participants scored significantly (p < 0.05) higher. These results highlight the need for ongoing educational initiatives to improve food safety practices among both pet owners in Lebanon. The study suggests that targeted educational programs should be developed, considering specific socio-demographic characteristics, to enhance overall food safety awareness and practices among the population. The present study investigated the relative abundance of mosquitoes larvae in three different breeding habitats in seven districts of Beni-Suef Governorate, Egypt during two years (2019–2020). The results showed that the species composition of mosquitoes was represented by four genera and eight species; four of Culex (Cx. pipiens Linnaeus,1758, Cx. theileri Theobald,1903, Cx. perexiguus Theobald, 1903 and Cx. antennatus (Becker,1903)), two of Anopheles (An. coustani Laveran, 1900 and An. multicolor Cambouliu, 1902) and one each of Aedes and Culiseta (Ae. caspius (Pallas, 1771) and Cs. longiareolata (Macquart, 1838)). The results were demonstrated also, that Cx. pipiens (4934 larvae) was the most common species, followed by Cx. perexiguus (2991 larvae) in all breeding habitats. Particularly, this species distributed in drains more than irrigation tanks and agriculture canals, the other species of Anopheles and Aedes were very little or absence in all test breeding habitats. The densities of almost mosquitoes species with higher collections were found in Saft, Elfant and El-Maimun villages and rate of collection decreased in Tizmant and Bedahl. These information on the species composition and their abundance of mosquitoes in Beni-Suef may help better planning for the integrated pest management for these vectors and transmitted diseases. Many coastal areas have soft clay soils, characterized by high compressibility and low bearing capacity. There are several methods for improving soil characteristics, one of which is stone columns technique. This method can reduce the possibility for liquefaction, speed the consolidation effect, strengthen the soil, and lessen the compressibility of soft, loose, and fine-graded soils. In this study, unit cell stone columns with 50- and 75-mm diameters and the length of stone column to the depth of the soft clay (L/H) of 1 and 0.75, were subjected to laboratory experiments on soft clay soil with a cohesion of 7 kPa. Crushed asphalt, crushed concrete, crushed ceramic, dolomite, and treated concrete were tested as filler materials in the stone columns. In addition, tests were conducted on both unreinforced and geogrid-encased stone columns. The main objective is to identify the most effective filler material that improves in load-bearing capacity and minimizes the settlement. The behavior of stone columns was assessed by varying stress concentration ratio (n) and the load improvement factor (LIF). The results indicate that both n and LIF increase with increasing the settlement to the plate diameter ratio, reaching a stable value when that ratio reaches 10% or higher. Consequently, it can be inferred that using floating stone columns is more economically efficient than using end-bearing stone columns. Increasing the length and reinforcing the vertically encased stone columns improve both the bearing capacity and the stress concentration ratio. All the materials used in this study improved the bearing capacity and reduced settlement. It is observed that treated concrete yielded the best results in improvement, while crushed asphalt is considered the most economical option compared to the other materials used. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder that causes muscle weakness and degeneration. In this study, we identified potential biomarkers and drug targets for DMD through a comprehensive meta-analysis of mRNA profiles. We conducted an in-depth analysis of three microarray datasets from the GEO database, utilizing the Affymetrix platform. A rigorous data pre-processing pipeline encompassed background correction, normalization, log2 transformation and probe-to-gene symbol mapping. Robust multi-array average method followed by Limma package in R was employed to ensure differential expression analysis within individual datasets, yielding gene-specific p-values. We identified 63 genes exhibiting statistically significant differential expression across the three datasets (p < 0.05) and an absolute log fold change > 1.5. Functional enrichment analyses of these differentially expressed genes were done, followed by pathway analyses. Our results suggested pertinent biological processes, molecular functions and cellular components associated with DMD. Finally, eight hub genes—COL6A3, COL1A1, COL3A1, COL1A2, POSTN, TIMP1, THBS2 and SPP1—were pinpointed as central players in the network. Two differentially expressed genes with substantial absolute log-fold changes, namely, DMD, downregulated and MYH3, upregulated, were identified as potential therapeutic candidates. In light of these findings, our work contributes not only to understanding DMD at the molecular level but also presents potential targets for therapeutic strategies. The massive environmental pollution caused by widespread industrialization jeopardizes human life and ecosystems. Among several pollutants, heavy metal ions in fresh water reservoirs pose a major threat that needs an immediate attention. One of the feasible, cheap and robust approaches to mitigate this pollution is the sorption on efficient and easily available materials. Hence, the contemporary study is designed to the synthesis, characterization, and application of the sodic form of hydroxyethyl cellulose maleate (HEC-MAL-Na) for the selective uptake of Cd(II) metal ions from the spiked aqueous solution. The esterification of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) with maleic anhydride was initially carried out to synthesize HEC-MAL. HEC-MAL was subsequently neutralized by NaHCO3 to form HEC-MAL-Na. The sodic form of HEC-MAL was characterized by comparing the FT-IR spectra of HEC-MAL-Na, HEC-MAL and HEC. Zero-point charge pH of HEC-MAL-Na confirmed the neutralization of HEC-MAL by NaHCO3. HEC-MAL-Na was utilized as an adsorbent for the treatment of polluted water by removing Cd(II) ions via an ion-exchange mechanism. The optimum conditions for the effective removal of Cd(II) ions from the aqueous solution were determined by screening different parameters such as temperature, pH, contact time, sorbent dose and initial metal ion concentration. The experimental data supported the pseudo-second order kinetics and Langmuir isothermal model for removal of Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution with the maximum sorption capacity of 277.7 mg/g at pH 5.5, initial metal ion concentration (110 mg L−1), sorbent dosage (40 mg) and contact time (30 min) at 298 K. The thermodynamic parameters, such as ∆S°, ∆H° and ∆G° were also estimated, and their values indicated the exothermic, spontaneous and feasible nature of the sorption process. This study interprets aeromagnetic data from the Tizi n'Test area in the High Atlas massif of Morocco, aiming to gain insights into its litho-structural architecture and implications for mineral exploration and mining. We employed six different analytical techniques to the residual magnetic field data, including reduction to the pole (RTP), upward continuation, total horizontal derivative, Tilt angle, Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) analysis, and Euler deconvolution. Our analyses differentiated the study area into three magnetic domains: the eastern Ouzellarh block, characterized by positive anomalies, a central domain characterized by a negative magnetic signature demarcating the transitional zone between the Anti-Atlas and the High Atlas separated by the Ouchden fault: and the western domain, represented by the Tichka massif. The application of total horizontal derivative, tilt angle, and a combination of filters in ternary image formats (Tilt angle, upward continuation 1000 + Tilt angle and upward continuation 3000 + Tilt angle) revealed both known and previously unidentified geological lineaments, mapping structural complexity across various orientations (NE–SW, NNE–SSE, E–W, NW–SE, and N–S). The CET grid analysis method unveiled the structural complexity, highlighting the geodynamic evolution of the region. Particularly, the Ouchden fault delineates a magnetic domain divide between the ancient High Atlas and the Ouzellarh block (Anti-Atlas). Furthermore, Euler deconvolution indicated magnetic source depths ranging from 52 m in the western domain of the Tichka massif to 6560 m in the Ouzellarh block. A comprehensive structural scheme, classified by C-A fractal analysis, identified zones favourable for exploration and mining, particularly along the Ouchden fault, Tizi n'Test, NE-SW trending lineaments in the northwestern domain, as well as along the Tichka granite’s margin. Background: Gender differences in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis is a relatively common phenomenon, particularly amongst those patients under 80 years of age presenting with fragility fractures. The clinical implications of these findings are that strategies, which tend to focus on osteoporosis management in women, should also pay enough attention to osteoporosis in men. However, there have been questions whether there is a gender difference when setting intervention thresholds for osteoporosis management. This work was carried out aiming to determine the fracture probabilities calculated by FRAX at which therapeutic intervention in older men and women can be considered. Results: Assessment of fracture risk probability thresholds in men revealed that for hip fractures, ROC was 0.754 (95% CI: 0.69–0.817). The sensitivity was 80.5% for threshold probabilities of 2.5%. For the major osteoporosis fracture, ROC was 0.828 (95% CI: 0.694–0.963). The sensitivity was 87.5% for threshold probabilities of 10%. Assessment of fracture risk probability threshold in women ROC was 0.760 (95% CI: 0.691–0.83). The sensitivity was 76.1% for threshold probabilities of 3%. For major osteoporosis fracture, ROC was 0.848 (95% CI: 0.784–0.912). The sensitivity was 87.3% for threshold probabilities of 15%. Conclusion: Operational aspects of osteoporosis management should consider gender specific fracture thresholds. Interventional thresholds were found to be different in men compared to women. This experiment aimed to assess the regulatory effects of treatment with Balanites aegyptiaca fruit ethanol extract (BA-EE) on oxidant/antioxidant status, anti-inflammatory cytokines, and cell apoptosis gene expression in the abomasum of Haemonchus contortus–infected goats. Twenty goat kids were assigned randomly to four equal groups: (G1) infected-untreated, (G2) uninfected-BA-EE-treated, (G3) infected-albendazole-treated, (G4) infected-BA-EE-treated. Each goat in (G1), (G3), and (G4) was orally infected with 10,000 infective third-stage larvae. In the fifth week postinfection, single doses of albendazole (5 mg/kg.BW) and BA-EE (9 g/kg.BW) were given orally. In the ninth week postinfection, the animals were slaughtered to obtain abomasum specimens. The following oxidant/antioxidant markers were determined: malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT). The mRNA gene expression of cytokines (IL-3, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α) and cell apoptosis markers (Bax, Bcl-2) were estimated. (G1) showed significantly reduced GSH content and GST and SOD activities but a markedly increased MDA level. (G3) and (G4) revealed a markedly lower MDA level with pronouncedly elevated GSH, SOD, and GST levels. The antioxidant properties of BA-EE were superior to those of albendazole. The mRNA gene expressions of IL-3, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, and Bax-2 were upregulated in (G1) but downregulated in (G3) and (G4). Bcl-2 and Bcl-2/Bax ratio expression followed a reverse course in the infected and both treated groups. We conclude that BA-EE treatment has a protective role in the abomasum of H. contortus–infected goats. Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated, hyperproliferative skin disease. Etiopathogenesis of psoriasis is not well understood. Plexin B2 was found to have effects on CD100-mediated T-cell morphology and expressed in the immune system. It may play a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. To assess the tissue level of plexin-B2 and plexin B2 related gene polymorphism which is signal regulatory protein gamma (SIRPγ-rs71212732) in psoriatic patients before and after NB-UVB, acitretin therapy alone or in combination and to detect correlation between level of tissue plexin B2 and disease severity and improvement. This single blinded randomized controlled trial was carried on 50 psoriatic patients and 50 healthy controls. Psoriasis Area and Severity Index score (PASI) was used to evaluate the disease severity. Tissue plexin-b2 level was measured using ELISA and SIRPγ-rs71212732 (T\C) was assessed using TaqMan™ assays and real-time PCR. A significant lower tissue plexin-B2 level was observed in control group (2.9 ± 0.6 pg/g) than cases (25.8 ± 2.8, pg/g) (p < 0.001). Also, a significantly higher tissue plexin-B2 level was observed in sever psoriasis (32.7 ± 3.8 pg/ml) in than moderate psoriasis (13.6 ± 2.1 pg/ml, p = 0.001). Tissue plexin B2 was positively correlated with diseases severity. Significantly higher (TC& TT) genotypes and mutant (C) allele among patients compared to the controls, p < 0.001 for all. Tissue plexin-b2 level was high in psoriasis vulgaris with positive correlation with disease severity and decreased after treatment. In recent years, face biometrics recognition systems are a wide space of a computer usage which is mostly employed for security purpose. The main purpose of the face biometrics recognition system is to authenticate a user from a given database. Due to the widespread expansion of the surveillance cameras and facial recognition technology, a robust face recognition system required. The recognition system needs to store a large number of training samples in any storage unit, that time hackers can access and control that data. So, Protecting and managing sensitive data is essential object. This requires a technique that preserve the privacy of individuals, maintain data integrity, and prevent information leakage. The storage of biometric templates on centralized servers has been associated with potential privacy risks. To address this issue, we have developed and implemented a proof-of-concept facial biometric identification system that uses a private Blockchain platform and smart contract technology. So, the proposed approach is presented a secure and tamper-proof from data breaches as well as hacks with data availability, by using the Blockchain platform to store face images. This paper aims to utilize Blockchain technology to identify individuals based on their biometric traits, specifically facial recognition system makes it tamper-proof (immutable) ensuring security. The system consists of enrolment and authentication phases. Blockchain technology uses peer-to-peer communication, cryptography, consensus processes, and smart contracts to ensure the security. The proposed approach was tested on two popular datasets: CelebFaces Attributes (CelebA) and large-scale face UTKFace datasets. The experimental results indicate that the system yields highly performance outcomes, as evidenced by the Equal Error Rate (EER) values of 0.05% and 0.07% obtained for the CelebA and UTKFace datasets, respectively. This paper emphasizes on testing the flexural capacity of Hybrid Steel Truss Reinforced Concrete Beam (HSTRCB), where a prefabricated steel truss is embedded into concrete beam instead of conventional rebars, forming a composite section. Five doubly reinforced concrete beams were designed, casted, experimentally tested and analyzed to investigate the flexural behavior of HSTRCB, in comparison to ordinary reinforced concrete beam. All beams were designed according to ACI 318, having same flexural capacity. First beam is ordinary reinforced concrete beam while the other four HSTRCB were designed having identical smooth steel angles, as compression and tension reinforcement, with different shear reinforcement alignment, and spacing. Different smooth truss typology were used as reinforced rebar replacement in the RC beams to determine the significant truss configuration that has highest flexural behaviour. Numerous heat transfer applications, such as heat exchangers, solar trough collectors, and fields including food processing, material research, and aerospace engineering, utilize hybrid nanofluids. Compared to conventional fluids, hybrid nanofluids exhibit significantly enhanced thermal conductivity. The aim of this work is to explore flow and heat transmission features under of magneto-hydrodynamic bioconvective flow of carbon nanotubes over the stretched surface with Dufour and Soret effects. Additionally, comparative dynamics of the carbon nanotubes (SWCMT − MWCNT/C2H6O2 with SWCMT − MWCNT/C2H6O2 − H2O) flow using the Prandtl fluid model in the presence of thermal radiation and motile microorganisms has been investigated. To examine heat transfer features of Prandtl hybrid nanofluid over the stretched surface convective heating is taken into consideration while modeling the boundary conditions. Raising thermal radiation (0.1 ≤ Rd ≤ 1.7) and Dufour number (0.1 ≤ Du ≤ 0.19) values improves temperature profile. Background: The wingless signaling pathway of bone development is inhibited by sclerostin, which may contribute to the etiology of ankylosing spondylitis. Aim: The study aimed to evaluate serum sclerostin levels in ankylosing spondylitis patients and investigate how it correlated with radiographic damage using the Spondylo-arthritis Research Consortium of Canada index (SPARCC), disease activity, and functional impairment. Results: This cross-sectional case–control study revealed a significantly lower mean serum sclerostin (11.28 ng/ml) in AS patients compared with controls (101.25 ng/ml). Serum sclerostin levels showed a significant negative correlation with each of Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index (BASMI) (p = 0.043), sacroiliac joints SPARCC, spine SPARCC, and overall SPARCC scores (p = 0.012, p = 0.036, and p = 0.007). In large-scale all-solid-state storage technologies, solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) provide greater safety and longer cycle life than traditional liquid or gel polymer electrolytes. Polymer electrolytes (PEs) derived from biopolymers have been intensively explored for use in electrochemical devices due to their great flexibility, low cost, and environmental sustainability. However, biopolymer-based electrolytes cannot meet the expectations of practical applications at room temperature due to their low ionic conductivity. Over the years, improving the performance of this class of electrolytes has been the focus of intense research and development, notably polymer blending, plasticization, and structural functionalization. Here, we investigate the performance of an all-biopolymer solid electrolytes based on a methylcellulose-pectin blend doped with potassium phosphate. FESEM micrographs, as well as the shifting and changing intensity of FTIR bands in the electrolyte specimens confirm the polyblend homogeneity with no phase separation. The increased amorphous fraction of the composite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) is seen in the XRD and DSC patterns of the plasticized and unplasticized samples. Impendence studies performed on the system recorded a maximum ionic conductivity of 1 × 10–5 Scm−1 by doping with 50 wt.% K3PO4. This value further increased to 5.9 × 10–4 Scm−1 upon adding 25 wt.% EC to the polymer system. A novel approach employing activated nanodiamond combined with MIL-125 in micro solid-phase extraction has been successfully developed for the efficient extraction of cadmium and lead from food and water samples. Analytical parameters such as solution pH, adsorbent amount, sample volume, eluent concentration and volume, vortex time, and matrix effect to obtain the best recovery rates could be reached. The method's limits of detection were found to be 0.84 and 1.97 μg L−1 for Cd(II) and Pb(II). Its limits of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 2.81 and 6.57 μg L−1 for Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively. Other performances that were found included preconcentration factors (PF) of 100 and 20 for Cd(II) and Pb(II), enhancement factors (EF) of 96 and 28 for Cd(II) and Pb(II), and relative standard deviation (RSD%) of 5.0 and 1.3 for Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively. The method's validation was carried out using certified reference materials (SPS-WW2 wastewater and HR-1 Humber River sediment) ensuring its accuracy and reliability. The developed technique was successfully applied to determine the Cd(II) and Pb(II) contents in water and food samples. The optimized parameters and analytical characteristics demonstrate the method's efficiency in achieving low detection limits, high preconcentration factors, and reliable quantification. Recent advances in nanotechnology have offered novel ways to combat cancer. By utilizing the reducing capabilities of Lactobacillus acidophilus, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are synthesized. The anti-cancer properties of AgNPs have been demonstrated in previous studies against several cancer cell lines; it has been hypothesized that these compounds might inhibit AMPK/mTOR signalling and BCL-2 expression. Consequently, the current research used both in vitro and in silico approaches to study whether Lactobacillus acidophilus AgNPs could inhibit cell proliferation autophagy and promote apoptosis in HepG2 cells. The isolated strain was identified as Lactobacillus acidophilus strain RBIM based on 16 s rRNA gene analysis. Based on our research findings, it has been observed that this particular strain can generate increased quantities of AgNPs when subjected to optimal growing conditions. The presence of silanols, carboxylates, phosphonates, and siloxanes on the surface of AgNPs was confirmed using FTIR analysis. AgNPs were configured using UV–visible spectroscopy at 425 nm. In contrast, it was observed that apoptotic cells exhibited orange-coloured bodies due to cellular shrinkage and blebbing initiated by AgNP treatment, compared to non-apoptotic cells. It is worth mentioning that AgNPs exhibited remarkable selectivity in inducing cell death, specifically in HepG2 cells, unlike normal WI-38 cells. The half-maximum inhibitory concentration (IC50) values for HepG2 and WI-38 cells were 4.217 µg/ml and 154.1 µg/ml, respectively. AgNPs induce an upregulation in the synthesis of inflammation-associated cytokines, including (TNF-α and IL-33), within HepG2 cells. AgNPs co-treatment led to higher glutathione levels and activating pro-autophagic genes such as AMPK. Additionally, it resulted in the suppression of mTOR, MMP-9, BCL-2, and α-SMA gene expression. The docking experiments suggest that the binding of AgNPs to the active site of the AMPK enzyme leads to inhibiting its activity. The inhibition of AMPK ultimately results in the suppression of the mechanistic mTOR and triggers apoptosis in HepG2 cells. In conclusion, the results of our study indicate that the utilization of AgNPs may represent a viable strategy for the eradication of liver cancerous cells through the activation of apoptosis and the enhancement of immune system reactions. Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and etiology of kidney failure (KF) among children below 15 years of age receiving chronic dialysis in Saudi Arabia and describe their dialysis modalities. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 8 August 2022, encompassing all 23 pediatric dialysis centers in Saudi Arabia. Data gathered comprised patient demographics, causes of KF, and the dialysis methods employed. Collected data underwent analysis to determine prevalence of children undergoing chronic dialysis, discern underlying causes of KF, and evaluate distribution of patients across different dialysis modalities. Results: The prevalence of children on chronic dialysis is 77.6 per million children living in Saudi Arabia, equating to 419 children. The predominant underlying cause of KF was congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract (CAKUT), representing a substantial 41% of cases. Following this, others or unknown etiologies accounted for a noteworthy 25% of cases, with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) comprising 13%, glomerulonephritis at 11%, and congenital nephrotic syndrome contributing 10% to etiological distribution. Regarding dialysis modalities employed, 67% of patients were on peritoneal dialysis (PD), while the remaining 33% were on hemodialysis (HD). Conclusions: This first nationwide study of pediatric chronic dialysis in Saudi Arabia sheds light on the prevalence of children undergoing chronic dialysis and underlying causes of their KF, thereby contributing to our understanding of clinical management considerations. Reports from different parts of the world suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown and social distancing measures have heralded unprecedented mental health challenges among children and adolescents. To date, there is a dearth of studies emerging from the Arabian Gulf, where the majority of its population are children and adolescents. The study aims to examine the prevalence of anxiety-related symptoms and their covariates among children and adolescents in an Arabian Gulf country, Oman. This is a cross-sectional analytic study carried out over two weeks (1st to 15th of August 2020) during the COVID-19 pandemic across Oman. Parents were asked to complete the online survey, which consisted of the parent version of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) instrument and questions regarding basic socio-demographic information. Logistic regression was used to identify the contributing variables associated with anxiety-related symptoms. A total of 790 valid responses were received. Among the 790 children, 33.3% (n = 263) were diagnosed with anxiety-related symptoms by the SCARED instrument. Logistic regression analysis suggested that anxiety-related symptoms in children and adolescents were significantly associated with three demographic variables. The model shows that children with divorced or separated parents were 1.9 times more likely to have anxiety-related symptoms than children of married couples (OR = 1.93, p = 0.035). Children living in families with an income below USD 1000/month, were 1.8 times more likely to have anxiety-related symptoms than a family with an income of USD 4000/month (OR = 1.833, p = 0.018). Children in grades 3–6 were 1.8 times more likely to have anxiety-related symptoms than those in grades 1–2 (OR = 1.79, p = 0.024). Anxiety-related symptoms are common among Omani children and adolescents. They are more likely to be reported in middle scholastic grade levels and children from families with marital discord and low socioeconomic status. It is not clear whether the presently observed rates of anxiety exceed the prevalence that would have been observed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid advancement of modern communication technologies necessitates the development of generalized multi-access frameworks and the continuous implementation of rate splitting, augmented with semantic awareness. This trend, coupled with the mounting pressure on wireless services, underscores the need for intelligent approaches to radio signal propagation. In response to these challenges, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) have garnered significant attention for their ability to control data transmission systems in a goal-oriented and dynamic manner. This innovation is largely attributed to equitable resource allocation and the dynamic enhancement of network performance. However, the integration of rate-splitting multi-access (RSMA) architecture with semantic considerations imposes stringent requirements on IRS platforms to ensure seamless connectivity and broad coverage for a diverse user base without interference. Semantic communications hinge on a knowledge base-a centralized repository of integrated information related to the transmitted data-which becomes critically important in multi-antenna scenarios. This article proposes a novel set of design strategies for RSMA-IRS systems, enabled by reconfigurable intelligent surface synergizing with semantic communication principles. An experimental analysis is presented, demonstrating the effectiveness of these design guidelines in the context of Beyond 5G/6G communication systems. The RSMA-IRS model, infused with semantic communication, offers a promising solution for future wireless networks. Performance evaluations of the proposed approach reveal that, despite an increase in the number of users, the delay in the RSMA-IRS framework incorporating semantics is 2.94% less than that of a RSMA-IRS system without semantic integration. There is limited information about the relationship between diabetes mellitus (DM) and ALT to HDL-C ratio. This study aims to investigate this relationship for the first time in Iran. The data of this study were taken from the third phase of the Shahroud Eye Cohort Study, which was conducted in 2019 with the participation of 4394 people aged 50–74. ALT and HDL-C levels were measured using a BT-1500 autoanalyzer. The mean ALT/HDL-C ratio was reported along with 95% confidence intervals (CI). The multiple logistic regression was used to examine the association between this ratio and DM, while controlling for the effects of other independent variables. The mean and standard deviation of the ALT/HDL-C ratio in all participants were 16.62 ± 11.22 (95% CI 16.28–16.96). The prevalence of DM was 34.7% and individuals with DM had a mean ALT/HDL-C ratio that was 1.80 units higher than those without diabetes (P < 0.001). Also, in individuals with DM, the HDL-C was found to be 0.035 (mmol/L) lower (P < 0.001), while ALT was 1.13 (IU/L) higher (P < 0.001) compared to those without diabetes. Additionally, after controlling for confounding factors, the odds of developing DM increased in a non-linear manner with an increase in the ALT/HDL-C ratio. Abdominal obesity, advanced age, female gender, and hypertension were also found to be associated with increased odds of DM. Background: Variceal hemorrhage from the rupture of esophageal varices is accompanied by a substantial mortality rate. So, newly diagnosed cirrhotic patients are recommended to perform screening esophago-gastroduodenoscopy (EGD) for identifying varices. The primary objective of the present research was to ascertain the most precise biochemical and ultrasonographic variables that have the potential to non-invasively forewarn the occurrence of varices in cirrhotic patients. The study evaluated different parameters such as aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index (APRI), platelet count/splenic diameter (PC/SD), portal vein velocity (PVV), and splenic and hepatic stiffness in prediction of EV. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that was conducted on 100 cirrhotic patients based on clinical, laboratory, and radiological assessments. All patients were subjected to thorough clinical examinations; laboratory tests were conducted to assess liver function and calculate Child–Pugh score and non-invasive tests for detecting esophageal varices such as APRI, PC/SD, Doppler ultrasonography for assessment of PV Doppler, and hepatic and splenic elastography. All patients got an endoscopic assessment in order to examine and classify the esophageal varices. Results: Based on the current study, we found that predictors for EV among the studied patients were the following: PC/SD ratio with odds ratio (OR) was 2.20, PVV with OR was 4.68, liver stiffness with OR was 1.99, and splenic stiffness with OR was 3.55. With ROC curve analysis, PVV has the best overall accuracy (85.4%) for prediction of EV with an area under the curve of 0.79 at cutoff point < 7.09 (cm/s) followed by splenic stiffness that has 82.6% overall accuracy with an area under the curve of 0.71 at cutoff point > 62.22 kPa. Conclusion: PVV and splenic stiffness measurement hold potential as non-invasive markers for predicting the presence of esophageal varices in individuals with liver cirrhosis. The Eadsorption of Mn-BNNT (8, 0) to Cimetidine adsorption are higher than other nanostructures. The nanotubes have more negative Eadsorption than Mn-B36N36 and Mn-Si72 to Cimetidine adsorption. The nanotubes have higher ΔGadsorption to Cimetidine than nanocages. The water is increased the capacity of Mn-doped nanostructures to deliver the Cimetidine. Background & aims: Eosinophilic ascites is non-common and challenging disease. This study aimed to describe the clinical presentation and treatment of eosinophilic ascites. Methods: This was a prospective single-center study that included cases with eosinophilic ascites who were admitted to Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology Department, Assiut University Hospital, Assiut, Egypt, during the period between May 2020 to May 2023. The clinical presentation, investigations, treatment, and follow-up data of the included patients were collected and analyzed. Results: Seventeen cases of eosinophilic ascites were included in the study. The main presenting manifestations were abdominal pain (47.1%), and abdominal pain with distension (29.4%). Two patients presented with a picture of intestinal obstruction. Moderate ascites was found in 10 patients (58.8%) by ultrasound. Eosinophilia in the peripheral hemogram was detected in 76.5% of the study population. Endoscopic examination showed gastro-duodenitis in 9 patients (52.9%) and duodenitis in 4 patients (23.5%). All patients showed complete improvement and disappearance of ascites after starting steroids within two weeks. Eleven patients (64.7%) relapsed after discontinuation of steroids. Conclusion: Eosinophilic ascites is an uncommon cause of ascites that is often underdiagnosed. The relapse rate after stopping treatment is high but with excellent response to retreatment. Channel state estimation (CSE) is essential for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless systems to deal with multipath channel fading. To attain a high data rate with the use of OFDM technology, an efficient CSE and accurate signal detection are required. The use of machine learning (ML) to improve channel estimates has attracted a lot of attention lately. This is because ML techniques are more adaptable than traditional model-based estimation techniques. The present study proposes a receiver for low-spectrum usage in OFDM wireless systems on Rayleigh fading channels using deep learning (DL) long short-term memory (LSTM). Before online deployment and data retrieval, the proposed DL LSTM estimator gathers channel state information from transmit/receive pairs using offline training. Based on the simulation results of a comparative study, the proposed estimator outperforms conventional channel estimation approaches like minimum mean square error and least squares in noisy and interfering wireless channels. Furthermore, the proposed estimator outperforms the DL bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM)-based CSE model. In particular, the proposed CSE performs better than other examined estimators with a reduced number of pilots, no cycle prefixes, and no prior knowledge of channel statistics. A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method had been applied to speciate chromium in natural and wastewater samples. MWCNTs@CuAl2O4@SiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by sol–gel and calcination methods and then characterized using SEM, FTIR, and XRD techniques. MWCNTs@CuAl2O4@SiO2 was used to extract Cr(VI) as pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate chelates. Some analytical parameters involving pH, ligand (APDC) and adsorbent amounts, sample initial and final volume, and the effects of matrices were tested and optimized. For the oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI), potassium permanganate was used, and after that, the presented method was applied to determine the total chromium levels. The calculations were carried out to obtain Cr(III) concentration by finding differences between total chromium and Cr(VI) concentrations. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 6.2 µg L−1 and 20.8 µg L−1, respectively. This paper discusses the geochemical constraints on genesis of dispersed mineralized quartz-fluorite veins (QFV) at south west Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. These veins range from colorless to pale to deep violet in color and extend continuously and/or discontinuously in NE-SW, E-W, N-S, and NW-SE trends. They exhibit varying thicknesses ranging from a few centimeters to approximately 0.3 m. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis has revealed the existence of secondary uranium minerals, notably kasolite Pb(UO2)SiO4.(H2O), in association with other minerals such as galena (PbS), atacamite (Cu2Cl(OH)3), and fluorite (CaF2) within the quartz-fluorite veins (QFV). Furthermore, the SEM analysis indicates a significant presence of fluorine incorporated into the biotite lattice of the host granitic rocks. Geochemically, there is a reasonable difference between the host granitic rocks and QFV, especially, silica and alumina contents. Also, some trace elements experienced enrichment in QFV such as Cu, U, Pb and Ag. The chondrite normalized pattern of QFV rare earth elements (REE) shows conspicuous negative Tb anomalies while the host rocks showed negative Eu anomalies. It is noticeable that there is a closed relation between uranium and fluorine in QFV. The Th/U ratios are < 1 in QFV samples indicating that the QFV had not been derived from magmatic origin. Furthermore, the REE and the mineral assemblages of QFV imply to hydrothermal origin (meteoric water) at shallow depth and low temperature < 200 °C under oxidation condition (epithermal genesis). Background: Bicondylar tibial plateau fractures pose many treatment challenges due to their complex fracture patterns and associated soft tissue compromise. We aim to evaluate outcomes of acute ORIF (aORIF) versus staged ORIF (sORIF) of high energy bicondylar tibial plateau fractures. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 186 patients at two high-volume Level I trauma centers. One hundred one patients underwent aORIF and 85 underwent sORIF between 2011 and 2019. Clinical outcomes of interest included operative time, wound dehiscence, superficial and deep infection, nonunion, flap coverage, arthrodesis, and early conversion to arthroplasty. Results: Patients had a median follow up of 12 months (6–98 months). The sORIF group had a higher ISS (p = 0.02) and a higher rate of open fractures (24.7% vs 11.9%, p = 0.03). The groups were statistically similar in other demographics and co-morbidities. Operative time was significantly shorter in the aORIF group (157 vs 213 min., p < 0.001). There was no statistical difference in wound dehiscence, deep infection, flap coverage, nonunion, unplanned reoperation, or post-traumatic arthritis between groups. However, aORIF was associated with a significantly lower rate of superficial infection (p = 0.01), arthroplasty (p = 0.003) and unplanned reoperation (p = 0.005). Subgroup analysis of only the 41C3 fractures showed a lower rate of superficial infections in the aORIF group (p = 0.04). No difference in complications was found between the fracture subgroups. Conclusion: We found no increased risk of complications with aORIF compared to sORIF for bicondylar tibial plateau fractures. While not all injuries may be appropriate for aORIF, our results demonstrate the safety of aORIF when patients are properly selected by experienced fracture surgeons. Level of evidence: Level III. In the realm of speaker identification, pitch frequency serves as a fundamental feature. However, this feature can be compromised when a speaker records his speech in a closed room, resulting in distorted signal features. This distortion not only reduces the effectiveness of speaker identification systems, but also opens the door for potential deception by hackers who exploit the reverberation effects in closed rooms. To address this concern, the correction of estimated pitch frequencies emerges as an essential step for the success of speaker identification systems. This paper presents a Hybrid Approach for Estimating Pitch Frequency (HAEPF) that integrates both the Zero Crossing Rate (ZCR) and Auto-Correlation Function (ACF) methods. Furthermore, the paper delves into the modeling of reverberant speech using comb filtering, shedding light on how multiple reflections impact the accuracy of pitch frequency estimation. Several simulation experiments were conducted to assess pitch frequency estimation for speech signals, both in the presence and absence of reverberation. The estimation errors were calculated for all three scenarios of reverberation (mild, moderate, and severe). The results clearly indicate that as the degree of reverberation, characterized by the comb filter order, increases, the pitch frequency estimation error also increases. The estimation accuracy of the proposed approach is calculated in terms of Pitch Frequency Estimation Error (PFEE), Gross Pitch Error (GPE) and Octave Error (OER) and is compared with those of several established pitch frequency estimation methods. The proposed approach exhibits a notable enhancement even in noisy environments, reducing PFEE by 43%, and achieving GPE and OER of less than 0.3 and 0.12, respectively, at a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 0 dB. While interactive simulations have been mostly limited to Computer Graphics applications, new generations of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) allow the realization of industrial-grade interactive 3D physics simulations. By combining an immersed boundary method with efficient GPU-based MINRES and CG solvers using a GPU-based geometric multigrid preconditioner, we demonstrate a fast industrial 3D computational mechanics solver. The various implementation aspects - specifically how they differ from similar concepts used in the Computer Graphics community - are discussed in detail. The proposed concept opens up new classes of industrial simulation applications allowing a democratization beyond today's expert users, from designer centric simulation to operational and service decisions based on 3D simulations. This study aimed to investigate the influence of different constitutive models on the accuracy of predicting spring-back in cold roll forming for pre-punched profiles. Finite element analysis was conducted using Abaqus, employing eight distinct constitutive models that varied in terms of yield criteria, yield function calibration, and elastic modulus degradation. To evaluate the impact of holes and their positions on spring-back, three samples made of St12 with a 1 mm thickness were used: a sample without holes, a profile with holes in the bending zone (on the bend), and a profile with holes close to the bending zone (near the bend). The results show that ignoring variation in elastic modulus has less influence on the accuracy of spring-back prediction for "near the bend" than the two other profiles. This case is explained by less change in elastic modulus during roll forming of the "near the bend" profile. Additionally, calibrating yield criteria based on R-values, such as Hill48_R and Yld89_R, and yield stress values result in more precise spring-back estimations for the "on the bend" and "near the bend" profiles, respectively. This approach proves superior when contrasted with the alternative calibration methods. Moreover, neglecting the effect of Young's modulus variation in Yld2000-2d and Hill48_S results in the lowest MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) of approximately 20% compared to other models. However, it is worth noting that Yld2000-2d underestimates the experimental values while Hill48_S tends to overestimate them. Biosorption is a good choice for removal of pollutants from water. In this study, hull cell of thermally autolyzed baker yeast, was used as a low-cost biosorbent against U(VI) pollution. The changes of biomass properties due to autolysis were analyzed using SEM, FTIR and BET techniques. Uranium (VI) biosorption capacity was evaluated and the effective parameters were examined by Placket Burman Design and the levels of significant factors (including pH, biomass concentration, initial U(VI) concentration) were further optimized using Response Surface Methodology. Based on the results obtained from the proposed quadratic model, maximum U uptake (84 mg/g) was occurred under optimum conditions including: 2.0 g biomass/L, pH value of 4.5 and 300 mg/L of initial U(VI) concentration. Furthermore, the experimental data were fitted to pseudo-first-order kinetic model (R2 = 0.991) and Freundlich isotherm model (R2 = 0.965). Background: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare cerebrovascular disorder characterized by progressive steno-occlusive changes in the internal carotid arteries, leading to an abnormal vascular network. Hypertension is prevalent among MMD patients, raising concerns about its impact on disease outcomes. This study aims to compare the clinical characteristics and outcomes of MMD patients with and without hypertension. Methods: We conducted a multicenter, retrospective study involving 598 MMD patients who underwent surgical revascularization across 13 academic institutions in North America. Patients were categorized into hypertensive (n=292) and non-hypertensive (n=306) cohorts. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to adjust for baseline differences. Results: The mean age was higher in the hypertension group (46 years vs. 36.8 years, p < 0.001). Hypertensive patients had higher rates of diabetes mellitus (45.2% vs. 10.7%, p < 0.001) and smoking (48.8% vs. 27.1%, p < 0.001). Symptomatic stroke rates were higher in the hypertension group (16% vs. 7.1%; OR: 2.48; 95% CI: 1.39-4.40, p = 0.002) before matching. After PSM, there were no significant differences in symptomatic stroke rates (11.1% vs. 7.7%; OR: 1.5; CI: 0.64-3.47, p = 0.34), perioperative strokes (6.2% vs. 2.1%; OR 3.13; 95% CI: 0.83-11.82, p = 0.09), or good functional outcomes at discharge (93% vs. 92.3%; OR 1.1; 95% CI: 0.45-2.69, p = 0.82). Conclusion: No significant differences in symptomatic stroke rates, perioperative strokes, or functional outcomes were observed between hypertensive and non-hypertensive Moyamoya patients. In this study, we propose and simulate a magnetoplasmonics heterostructure that utilizes spin–orbit fields to generate an internal magnetic field and create a significant magneto-optical effect. Our approach offers a new way to overcome the challenges of using permanent magnets or magnetic coils in conventional magnetoplasmonics, such as high-power consumption and non-scalability. We demonstrate that it is possible to create an appropriate amount of magnetic field using spin–orbit fields induced by the spin-Hall effect, such that the consumption power becomes reasonable and the dimensions could be miniaturized. This approach will be an important development in the field of magneto-optics, as it can lead to enhanced transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect in the present of surface plasmon polaritons. The proposed nanostructure consists of a ferromagnetic film adjacent to a heavy metal layer, both sandwiched between two noble metal films, and deposited on a dielectric prism. The strength of the Kerr signal strongly depends on the thickness of the ferromagnetic layer, with the maximum effect observed at a thickness of 5nm. This concept has potential for various nanophotonic and spintronic applications, particularly for developing high-speed active plasmonic devices for ultrafast light modulation. Kojic acid (KA) has gained significant attention due to its widespread use in the food and cosmetics industries. However, concerns about its potential carcinogenic effects have heightened the need for sensitive detection methods. This study introduces a fluorescence-based optical sensor for the quantification of KA in food samples, utilizing fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) synthesized from pomegranate peel via a hydrothermal method. The Stern–Volmer plot demonstrated a linear response for KA in the range of 120 to 1200 µM, with a Pearson correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9999 and. The sensor exhibited a detection limit of 30 ± 0.04 µM and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 90 ± 0.14 µM. Application of the developed method to soy sauce and vinegar samples yielded accurate KA determinations, with recoveries of 103.11 ± 0.96% and 104.45 ± 2.15%, respectively. These findings highlight the potential of the proposed sensor for practical applications in food quality and safety assessment, offering valuable insights into the presence of KA in food products. Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a frequent digestive illness in North America, causing symptoms and complications. It affects 18.1–27.28% of people and is associated with decreased quality of life. Treatment improves quality of life, but treatment costs are higher. The study aims to assess the role of screening of patients proven to have GERD by upper gastrointestinal endoscope for early detection of interstitial lung diseases. Subjects and methods: This research was cross-sectional research. The study will be conducted at the Chest Diseases Department of Ain Shams University hospitals. This prospective cross-sectional research will be performed on 90 randomly selected cases diagnosed with GERD by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. For 1 year. Result: The findings of chest HRCT for enrolled patients are 15 patients (16.7%) showed positive CT findings suggestive of interstitial lung disease, whereas 75 patients (83.3%) had normal CT scans. The most common CT finding was atelectasis reported in nine patients (10%). a statistically significant correlation between age and fibrosis and reticular infiltration, female gender, and reticular infiltration. no statistically significant association between CT findings and each of the chest symptoms and GERD symptoms. Conclusion: CT chest screen of patients diagnosed with GERD by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy plays a favorable role in the early detection of ILD to help in early management and treatment them. In patients diagnosed with GERD by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, we revealed that: reticular infiltration is more prevalent in female gender. Reticular infiltration and fibrosis increase with older age. Reticular infiltration and atelectasis increase in patients who have a hiatus hernia. Cough, dyspnea, and wheezes increase in older age. Zic family member ZIC4 is a transcription factor that has been shown to be silenced in several cancers. However, understanding the regulation and function of ZIC4 in pediatric choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) remained limited. This study employed data mining and bioinformatics analysis to investigate the DNA methylation status of ZIC4 in CPTs and its correlation with patient survival. Our results unveiled ZIC4 methylation as a segregating factor, dividing CPT cohorts into two clusters, with hyper-methylation linked to adverse prognosis. Hyper-methylation of ZIC4 was confirmed in a choroid plexus carcinoma-derived cell line (CCHE-45) by bisulfite sequencing. Furthermore, our study demonstrated that demethylating agent and a histone methyltransferase inhibitor could reverse ZIC4 silencing. RNA sequencing and proteomic analysis showed that ZIC4 over-expression influenced genes and proteins involved in immune response, antigen processing and presentation, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and metabolism. Functionally, re-expressing ZIC4 negatively impacted cell proliferation and migration. Ultimately, these findings underscore ZIC4 hyper-methylation as a prognostic marker in CPTs and shed light on potential mechanisms underlying its tumor suppressor role in CPC. This study aimed to estimate the hepatic and immune ameliorating potential of extracted bovine lactoferrin (LF), Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) or their combination (LF/SeNPs) against bleomycin (BLM) induced hepatic injury. Fifty adult male rats (160–200 g) were equally divided into five groups: (1) the saline control group, (2) BLM-injected (15 mg/kg twice a week, ip), and (3–5) groups treated orally with LF (200 mg/kg/day), SeNPs (0.0486 mg/kg/day) or LF/SeNPs combination (200.0486 mg/kg/day) for 6 weeks post BLM-intoxication. Blood and liver samples were subjected to biochemical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical analyses. The results revealed that BLM caused a significant increase in hepatic lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide, as well as serum markers of liver functions (AST, ALT and GGT activities), and levels of GM-CSF, CD4, TNF-α, IL-1β, TGF-β1, fibronectin, triglycerides, cholesterol and LDL-C. Additionally, hepatic glutathione, Na+/K+-ATPase, and glutathione peroxidase, as well as serum HDL-C, total protein and albumin levels were significantly reduced. Moreover, BLM injection resulted in marked histopathological alterations and severe expression of caspase 3. Post-treatment of BLM-intoxicated rats with LF, SeNPs or LF/SeNPs combination obviously improved the BLM-induced hepatic damages; this was achieved from the marked modulations in the mentioned parameters, besides improving the histopathological hepatic architecture. It is worth mentioning that LF/SeNPs exerted the greatest potency. In conclusion, the obtained results demonstrated that LF, SeNPs and LF/SeNPs succeeded in attenuating the BLM-induced hepatic dysfunction. Background: Pleural effusion is the most prevalent pleural disorder. One third of pleural effusions are caused by lung cancer. Thoracoscopy is regarded as the most reliable diagnostic method for the evaluation of suspected pleural malignancy. Aim and objectives: To assess visible pleural characteristics of abnormalities and their locations for malignant and benign pathologies as well as to determine the incidence of malignancy in the apparent normal pleura. Patients and methods: This was a descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional research that was performed on 36 cases with undiagnosed exudative pleural effusions prepared for medical thoracoscopy and on whom the cytological analysis was inconclusive, at the thoracoscopic Unit Department of Chest Diseases, Faculty of Medicine Zagazig University, from December 2023 to May 2024. Results: The apparent normal pleura and adhesions were significantly greater in benign effusions than in malignant effusions (p = 0.019 and p = 0.04, respectively), while nodular effusion was significantly greater in malignant effusions than in benign effusions (p = 0.003). Bleeding was significantly greater in malignant effusions than in benign effusions (p = 0.019). As regards the thoracoscopic findings, 24 (66.7%) patients showed nodular patterns, 14 (38.9%) patients showed adhesions, and two (5.6%) patients had pus, while six (16.7%) patients had apparent normal pleura. The costal pleura was the most frequently affected site (88.9%) followed by the visceral pleura (55.6%) then the diaphragmatic pleura (38.9%). Conclusion: Medical thoracoscopy (MT), a minimally invasive and a generally safe treatment, enables the interventional pulmonologist to access the pleural cavity directly and obtain pleural samples under direct view helping in predicting the pathology. Partial accelerated life tests (PALTs) are employed when the results of accelerated life testing cannot be extended to usage circumstances. This work discusses the challenge of different estimating strategies in constant PALT with complete data. The lifetime distribution of the test item is assumed to follow the power half-logistic distribution. Several classical and Bayesian estimation techniques are presented to estimate the distribution parameters and the acceleration factor of the power half-logistic distribution. These techniques include Anderson–Darling, maximum likelihood, Cramér von-Mises, ordinary least squares, weighted least squares, maximum product of spacing and Bayesian. Additionally, the Bayesian credible intervals and approximate confidence intervals are constructed. A simulation study is provided to compare the outcomes of various estimation methods that have been provided based on mean squared error, absolute average bias, length of intervals, and coverage probabilities. This study shows that the maximum product of spacing estimation is the most effective strategy among the options in most circumstances when adopting the minimum values for MSE and average bias. In the majority of situations, Bayesian method outperforms other methods when taking into account both MSE and average bias values. When comparing approximation confidence intervals to Bayesian credible intervals, the latter have a higher coverage probability and smaller average length. Two authentic data sets are examined for illustrative purposes. Examining the two real data sets shows that the value methods are workable and applicable to certain engineering-related problems. Introduction: Healthcare providers should be well prepared to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect their patients and themselves as frontline workers. The aim of this study was to assess oncologists' and health care workers (HCWs) knowledge, attitude, and practice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on them. Material and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among Egyptian oncologists and HCWs in the oncology department at Suez Canal University Hospitals, Egypt. Participants were reached through a Google Form questionnaire. The questionnaire was shared on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp) over four months, from June 1st to September 30, 2022. All physicians and HCWs in the oncology department were invited to participate in the survey. Researchers intended to enroll all physicians and HCWs within the study period. Results: Out of the 110 participants included in the study, there was a female predominance, and the majority were oncology nurses and clinical oncologists. Knowledge with significant participants' characteristics showed that knowledge significantly varied by age. The level of knowledge was significantly higher among participants between 30 and 40 years old (OR = 5.111; 95% CI, 1.202–21.738; P = 0.027). 65.5% of the participants had poor knowledge, with a mean ± SD of 4.9 ± 1.4. About 43.6% of the participants experienced more burnout than before the COVID-19 pandemic, with a negative emotional impact. 63.7% reported a negative financial impact due to the pandemic. 62.7% had support from their family, even though their job increases their risk of infection. 7.3% only reported a positive impact regarding their friend's relationship. Conclusion: COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on oncologists' personal and professional lives. The primary purpose of this article is to examine the issue of estimating the finite population distribution function from auxiliary information, such as population mean and rank of the auxiliary variables, that are already known. In order to better estimate the distribution function (DF) of a finite population, two improved estimators are developed. The bias and mean squared error of the suggested and existing estimators are derived up to the first order of approximation. To improve the efficiency of an estimators, we compare the suggested estimators with existing counterpart. Based on the numerical outcomes, it is to be noted that the suggested classes of estimators perform well using six actual data sets. The strength and generalization of the suggested estimators are also verified using a simulation analysis. Based on the result of actual data sets and a simulation study, we observe that the suggested estimator outperforms as compared to all existing estimators which is compared in this study.
