METTL3 is an important methyltransferase in N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) modification. Recently, METTL3 mediates methylation of pri-microRNA (miRNA) to accelerate miRNA maturation, regulating tumor development. This study explored whether METTL3 mediated miR-99a-5p to influence oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cell metastasis. MiR-99a-5p, ZBTB7A, and MATTL3 expression was measured using quantitative real-time PCR. Biological behaviors were assessed using cell counting kit-8, flow cytometry, Transwell assay, as well as western blot. Luciferase reporter assay evaluated the interaction between miR-99a-5p and ZBTB7A. METTL3-regulated pri-miR-99a-5p processing was determined by RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP) and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation (MeRIP) assays. The consequences clarified that miR-99a-5p was upregulated in OSCC cells. Downregulation of miR-99a-5p suppressed cellular viability, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and induced apoptosis. ZBTB7A acted as a miR-99a-5p target and reversed the effects on cellular behaviors induced by miR-99a-5p inhibitor. m6A content and METTL3 expression were increased in OSCC cells. METTL3 promoted the m6A modification of pri-miR-99a-5p and thereby facilitated miR-99a-5p processing. Moreover, knockdown of METTL3 inhibited OSCC metastasis by downregulating miR-99a-5p. Taken together, METTL3 promoted miR-99a-5p maturation in an m6A-dependent manner, which further targets ZBTB7A to accelerate the progression of OSCC. Human hematopoiesis starts at early yolk sac and undergoes site- and stage-specific changes over development. The intrinsic mechanism underlying property changes in hematopoiesis ontogeny remains poorly understood. Here, we analyzed single-cell transcriptome of human primary hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) at different developmental stages, including yolk-sac (YS), AGM, fetal liver (FL), umbilical cord blood (UCB) and adult peripheral blood (PB) mobilized HSPCs. These stage-specific HSPCs display differential intrinsic properties, such as metabolism, self-renewal, differentiating potentialities etc. We then generated highly co-related gene regulatory network (GRNs) modules underlying the differential HSC key properties. Particularly, we identified GRNs and key regulators controlling lymphoid potentiality, self-renewal as well as aerobic respiration in human HSCs. Introducing selected regulators promotes key HSC functions in HSPCs derived from human pluripotent stem cells. In this paper, a new La(III) ion-imprinted polymer La(III)-IIP was prepared by imprinting polymerization method, using methacrylic acid as the functional monomer and alkylated mesoporous silica as the carrier. La(III)-IIP was characterized by FTIR and SEM techniques. The material was also used to capture La3+ in low concentration wastewater, and the structural morphology as well as the elemental composition of the material were characterized and analyzed. In addition, based on the characterization and experimental data, the adsorption type of La(III) and the possible adsorption mechanism of the material were further analyzed, and finally, the selective adsorption of lanthanum and the regeneration performance of the material were investigated. Background: Long-term outcome of patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) who achieved a pathological complete response (pCR) was scarcely discussed, and never had the factors affecting the prognosis of pCR patients been investigated. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients who achieved a pCR to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in Jinling Hospital. The 3- and 5-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were calculated with the Kaplan–Meier method. Meanwhile, univariate and multivariate COX regression analysis was applied to identify prognostic factors affecting patients' survival. Results: A total of 37 consecutive LAGC patients with pCR were included. The 3- and 5-year OS rates were 88.8% and 78.6%, and the 3- and 5-year PFS rates were 86.5% and 75.8%. In the multivariate COX model, NAC duration of more than 3 cycles (HR 0.11 [0.02–0.62], P = 0.013) and poorly differentiated tumor at diagnosis (HR 0.17 [0.03–0.95], P = 0.043) were detected as protective factors for patients OS. Whereas for PFS, NAC duration (HR 0.12 [0.02–0.67], P = 0.015) was the only protective factor confirmed, with tumor differentiation at diagnosis exhibiting marginal significance (HR 0.21 [0.04–1.09], P = 0.063). Conclusions: Patients with LAGC who achieved a pCR displayed favorable long-term survival outcome, especially those with adequate cycles (≥ 3) of NAC. Objectives: To demonstrate the importance of extracapsular extension (ECE) of transitional zone (TZ) prostate cancer (PCa), examine the causes of its missed detection by Mp-MRI, and develop a new predictive model by integrating multi-level clinical variables. Materials and methods: This retrospective study included 304 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical prostatectomy after 12 + X needle transperineal transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-MRI-guided targeted prostate biopsy from 2018 to 2021 in our center was performed. Results: In this study, the incidence rates of ECE were similar in patients with MRI lesions in the peripheral zone (PZ) and TZ (P = 0.66). However, the missed detection rate was higher in patients with TZ lesions than in those with PZ lesions (P < 0.05). These missed detections result in a higher positive surgical margin rate (P < 0.05). In patients with TZ lesions, detected MP-MRI ECE may have grey areas: the longest diameters of the MRI lesions were 16.5–23.5 mm; MRI lesion volumes were 0.63–2.51 ml; MRI lesion volume ratios were 2.75–8.86%; PSA were 13.85–23.05 ng/ml. LASSO regression was used to construct a clinical prediction model for predicting the risk of ECE in TZ lesions from the perspective of MRI and clinical features, including four variables: the longest diameter of MRI lesions, TZ pseudocapsule invasion, ISUP grading of biopsy pathology, and number of positive biopsy needles. Highly ordered ZIF-8-derived carbon material NPC@ZnO was obtained by high-temperature pyrolysis under N2 atmosphere using ZIF-8 as a sacrificial template. The P-NPC@ZnO was successfully produced by surface modification with phosphoric acid treatment and the introduction of P elements. The adsorption performance of P-NPC@ZnO and control NPC@ZnO on Lu3+ was investigated using lutetium(III) as the adsorbent. The successful preparation of the materials was confirmed by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, TGA, BET, Raman and XPS characterization methods, and the adsorption type and mechanism of the adsorbent materials were analyzed, and finally the regenerative use performance as well as the selective performance of the adsorbents were investigated. The results showed that the adsorption performance of P-NPC@ZnO material for Lu3+ was remarkable under the optimal conditions, and the maximum adsorption amount could reach 230.21 mg g−1, which was twice as much as that of NPC@ZnO material. The experimental data were fitted to show that the rate-limiting step is controlled by surface adsorption, and lutetium(III) forms a single molecular layer adsorption with the adsorption sites on the surface of the adsorbent material. Purpose: Anti-PD-1 antibody (anti-PD-1 mAb) showed favorable outcomes in some patients with relapsed/refractory (r/r) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL). However, the role of anti-PD-1 antibody in NK/T-cell lymphoma-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (NK/T-LAHS) remains unclear. Here, we evaluated the efficacy and toxicity of anti-PD-1 antibody-based treatment in NK/T-LAHS patients. Methods: The clinical data of 98 patients diagnosed with NK/T-LAHS at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University from May 2014 to November 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients received anti-HLH [HLH-2004 (etoposide, dexamethasone, cyclosporine A) or DEP-based (liposomal doxorubicin, etoposide, methylprednisolone)] regimen and sequential anti-ENKTL chemotherapy (ChT) combined with anti-PD-1 antibody or not. Results: The overall response rate (ORR) of the anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT regimens was higher than that of the ChT regimens (73.3% vs. 45.5%, P = 0.041). The toxicity of the anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT regimens was tolerable. Except for higher rate of neutropenia, no significant difference in adverse events (AEs) was observed between the two groups. When the optimal response to anti-ENKTL was achieved, the median EBV DNA levels in patients who received anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT were significantly lower than patients who received ChT only (878 copies/mL vs. 18,600 copies/mL, P = 0.001). With a median follow-up of 26.6 months (range 0–65.9 months), the median overall survival (mOS) was 3.5 months (95% CI：2.3–4.7 months). Patients treated with anti-PD-1 mAb plus ChT experienced a longer mOS than those who received ChT only [5.2 months (95% CI: 2.5–7.8 months) vs. 1.5 months (95% CI: 0.5–2.6 months), P = 0.002]. Cox multivariate analysis found that anti-PD-1 mAb was an independent prognostic factor for all NK/T-LAHS patients. Conclusion: In conclusion, anti-PD-1 mAb combined with ChT regimens seemed to be associated with prolonged survival in NK/T-LAHS patients and may represent a potentially promising treatment strategy for this population. Primary lymphoma of the uterine cervix (LUCX) is extremely rare, and its diagnosis is challenging. However, its clinicopathological features have not been well characterized. Thirteen primary LUCX patients were retrospectively studied, and 54 patients from the literature were reviewed. Primary LUCX was identified in 0.22% (13/6000) of patients with uterine cervical malignancies in our institution. The patients' median age was 51 years (range: 22–85 years). All patients had a bulk of neoplasms in the uterine cervix. The median tumour diameter was 6 cm (range: 1.5–10 cm). Approximately 78.0% (39/50) of the patients initially presented with irregular vaginal bleeding or discharge. Moreover, 86.7% (39/45) had Ann Arbor stage I or II. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified, was the most common type, accounting for 85.0% (57/67) of primary LUCX cases. Follicular lymphoma (7.5%, 5/67), extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (4.5%, 3/67), mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), blastoid variant (1.5%, 1/67), and peripheral T-cell lymphoma (1.5%, 1/67) were occasionally observed. Three patients (7.1%, 3/42) with DLBCL, NOS died from the disease during the follow-up period. Their 5-year overall survival (OS) rate was 93.5%. The patient with MCL, blastoid variant in our present cohort died of the disease 33 months after diagnosis. Primary LUCX is an extremely rare condition. The clinical symptoms are non-specific. Boron nitride nanosheet (BNNS) has been widely used in aluminum (Al) matrix composites because of its extraordinary mechanical properties. However, the strengthening mechanism of BNNS in the Al matrix was seldom studied. In this work, three different BNNS/Al models were constructed, and the effect of BNNS's volume fraction on the compressive properties of BNNS/Al composites was investigated using molecular dynamics. With the increase of BNNS's volume fraction, the ultimate strength and Young's modulus are significantly enhanced, but the critical strain decreases gradually. The stress distribution reveals the contribution of the BNNS and Al matrix. In addition, the atomic configurations were captured to analyze the reason for the decrease in critical strain. The interaction between the Al matrix and BNNS is evident at the interface. This results in the great deformation of the Al matrix in the direction perpendicular to the BNNS. Since BNNS can transfer the compression load and block the propagation of stacking faults in the Al matrix, BNNS/Al composites have excellent compression properties in both the elastic and plastic stages. Radiomic model reliability is a central premise for its clinical translation. Presently, it is assessed using test–retest or external data, which, unfortunately, is often scarce in reality. Therefore, we aimed to develop a novel image perturbation-based method (IPBM) for the first of its kind toward building a reliable radiomic model. We first developed a radiomic prognostic model for head-and-neck cancer patients on a training (70%) and evaluated on a testing (30%) cohort using C-index. Subsequently, we applied the IPBM to CT images of both cohorts (Perturbed-Train and Perturbed-Test cohort) to generate 60 additional samples for both cohorts. Model reliability was assessed using intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) to quantify consistency of the C-index among the 60 samples in the Perturbed-Train and Perturbed-Test cohorts. Besides, we re-trained the radiomic model using reliable RFs exclusively (ICC > 0.75) to validate the IPBM. Results showed moderate model reliability in Perturbed-Train (ICC: 0.565, 95%CI 0.518–0.615) and Perturbed-Test (ICC: 0.596, 95%CI 0.527–0.670) cohorts. An enhanced reliability of the re-trained model was observed in Perturbed-Train (ICC: 0.782, 95%CI 0.759–0.815) and Perturbed-Test (ICC: 0.825, 95%CI 0.782–0.867) cohorts, indicating validity of the IPBM. To conclude, we demonstrated capability of the IPBM toward building reliable radiomic models, providing community with a novel model reliability assessment strategy prior to prospective evaluation. In this paper, APTES was used as the functional monomer, reamed MCM-41 was used as the carrier, and epichlorohydrin was used as the crosslinking agent to prepare the Lanthanide ion-imprinted polymer, La-IIP. The effects of pH, time, temperature, and initial concentration on La-IIP adsorption were investigated, and the adsorption mechanism was discussed by fitting the adsorption data to various kinetic and thermodynamic models. The results showed that La-IIP reached adsorption equilibrium in 20 min at 338 K and pH = 5, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 272.2 mg/g. The La-IIP adsorption process conformed to the Langmuir adsorption model, and La-IIP showed strong selectivity for La(III) in the presence of interfering ions with similarproperties. 2 M hydrochloric acid solution was used to eluate La-IIP and re-adsorb lanthanum ion solution. The purpose of this study was to develop Bi-parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (BP-MRI) based radiomics models for differentiation between benign and malignant prostate lesions, and to cross-vendor validate the generalization ability of the models. The prebiopsy BP-MRI data (T2-Weighted Image [T2WI] and the Apparent Diffusion Coefficient [ADC]) of 459 patients with clinical suspicion of prostate cancer were acquired using two scanners from different vendors. The prostate biopsies are the reference standard for diagnosing benign and malignant prostate lesions. The training set was 168 patients' data from Siemens (Vendor 1), and the inner test set was 70 patients' data from the same vendor. The external test set was 221 patients' data from GE (Vendor 2). The lesion Region of Interest (ROI) was manually delineated by experienced radiologists. A total of 851 radiomics features including shape, first-order statistical, texture, and wavelet features were extracted from ROI in T2WI and ADC, respectively. Two feature-ranking methods (Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance [MRMR] and Wilcoxon Rank-Sum Test [WRST]) and three classifiers (Random Forest [RF], Support Vector Machine [SVM], and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator [LASSO] regression) were investigated for their efficacy in building single-parametric radiomics signatures. A biparametric radiomics model was built by combining the optimal single-parametric radiomics signatures. A comprehensive diagnosis model was built by combining the biparametric radiomics model with age and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) value using multivariable logistic regression. All models were built in the training set and independently validated in the inner and external test sets, and the performances of models in the diagnosis of benign and malignant prostate lesions were quantified by the Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUC). The mean AUCs of the inner and external test sets were calculated for each model. The non-inferiority test was used to test if the AUC of model in external test was not inferior to the AUC of model in inner test. Combining MRMR and LASSO produced the best-performing single-parametric radiomics signatures with the highest mean AUC of 0.673 for T2WI (inner test AUC = 0.729 vs. external test AUC = 0.616, p = 0.569) and the highest mean AUC of 0.810 for ADC (inner test AUC = 0.822 vs. external test AUC = 0.797, p = 0.102). The biparametric radiomics model produced a mean AUC of 0.833 (inner test AUC = 0.867 vs. external test AUC = 0.798, p = 0.051). The comprehensive diagnosis model had an improved mean AUC of 0.911 (inner test AUC = 0.935 vs. external test AUC = 0.886, p = 0.010). The loss of electrodes in micro-electrical discharge machining (micro-EDM) is inevitable so that the electrode shape is deformed during processing, which seriously affects the final machining accuracy. Therefore, electrode loss prediction and compensation measures must be taken. In this paper, combined with the characteristics of the micro-electrical discharge machining computer numerical control (CNC) machine independently developed by the research group, a method to directly obtain the tool loss length and machined hole depth is put forward by integrating the electric contact method and coordinate transformation. Under the different processing conditions, the trends of electrode loss length with machining hole depth, the trends of electrode loss length with discharge time, and the trends of machining hole depth with discharge time were obtained. Meanwhile, the change rule was discussed and analyzed. Under fixed processing conditions, the hole depth is linearly related to the electrode loss length. The relationship between electrode loss length and hole depth and discharge time is approximately linear. Traditional Chinese Medicine often use the prescription composed of herbs to cure the disease, which requires doctors with the rich professional knowledge and experience. It is much expected that the prescription can be generated automatically to assist doctors in prescribing using such as machine learning on the tongue images. However, it is confronted with two challenges. First, there is not a larger tongue image database available for machine learning. Second, there is no such machine learning method available for generating prescription according to the given tongue image. This paper begins with constructing a larger tongue image database, where each image corresponds to a prescription. It then uses auto-encoder to extract features for the tongue image, on which the recommendation neural network is proposed to recommend herbs for the prescription. Finally, a new prescription generation method is proposed to select optimal herbs from the recommended herbs to form the final prescription. Extranodal natural killer (NK)/T cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) with aberrant CD20 expression is extremely rare. Here, we describe the clinicopathologic features of 11 CD20-positive ENKTCLs from three institutions in China along with a literature review. Membranous expression of CD20 was identified in 1.29% (11/851) of ENKTCLs. CD20-positive ENKTCLs primarily occurred in extra-nasal sites (72.2%, 13/18) rather than in the nasal cavity (27.8%, 5/18). Most evaluated patients (71.4%, 10/14) presented ENKTCL at advanced stage IV. The percentage of CD20-positive tumor cells ranged from 20 to 90%, and the CD20 staining intensity was dimmer in tumor cells than in normal B cells. Among four cases with multiple biopsies, three cases showed discordant expression of CD20 between the disseminated and primary lesions. All evaluated cases were negative for other B cell markers, including PAX5, CD79a, and CD19, except for one case that showed focally positive for CD79a. Patients with CD20-positive ENKTCL more frequently had advanced diseases (stage III/IV: 70% vs 17%, p = 0.001), with older age (median age at diagnosis: 60 years vs. 43.5 years, p = 0.006) and had inferior outcome (median survival: 18.7 moths vs 36.0 moths, p = 0.017) compared with CD20-negative cases. Four nonsynonymous single nucleotide variants (C > T) and one stop-gain mutation (C > T) in the exonic region of CD20 gene (MS4A1) were detected in one of seven cases with target region next-generation sequencing. Thus, ENKTCL with aberrant CD20 expression is rare, tends to occur in older patients, and is characterized by a highly aggressive clinical course and poor outcomes. Somatostatin receptor 2a (SSTR2a) is an important diagnostic and scintigraphic marker in several tumors, as well as a potential therapeutic target. However, the expression and clinicopathologic significance of SSTR2a in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remain unknown. The expression of SSTR2a was retrospectively analyzed in a large series of NPC tissue samples (106 primary NPC samples, comprising 99 primary non-keratinizing NPC (NK-NPC) and 7 keratinizing NPC (K-NPC) samples, and 41 metastatic NPC samples) by immunohistochemistry, with 24 cases of normal nasopharyngeal mucosa tissues used as a control group. Normal epithelia in nasopharyngeal mucosa were negative for SSTR2a in all 24 cases. The expression of SSTR2a in primary NPC was correlated to the histological subtype. Most cases of primary NK-NPC showed expression of SSTR2a (93.9%, 93/99 cases). The percentage of SSTR2a-positive tumor cells ranged from 10 to 100%, while the intensity ranged from 2+ to 4+. None of the primary K-NPC samples showed SSTR2a expression (0/7, 100%). All cases of NPC showed negative expression of other neuroendocrine markers, including synaptophysin, chromogranin A, and CD56. Of all 41 cases of metastatic NK-NPC lesions, SSTR2a expression is concordant with that of the primary lesions, which shows statistical significance (p < 0.001). Our observations expand the spectrum of recognized SSTR2a-positive tumors and demonstrate for the first time that SSTR2a is frequently expressed in primary and metastatic NK-NPC, highlighting its potential as a scintigraphic and therapeutic target in this disease. Purpose: Neoadjuvant therapy is routinely used in the management of locally advanced rectal cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of pathological parameters in tumor response after treatment. Methods: We reviewed the hematoxylin–eosin slides from pretreatment biopsies of 150 rectal cancer patients who received preoperative chemoradiotherapy (PCRT) at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between May 2013 and June 2016. Pathological and clinical parameters were both studied. The tumor response after chemoradiotherapy was evaluated using the tumor regression grade (TRG). Logistic regression was used to evaluate the relevance between these parameters and tumor response. Results: Complete tumor response (TRG0 and pCR) to PCRT was identified in 40 (26.7%) patients. The pCR rate was 93.33% (14 of 15) in cases with signet ring cell component versus 19.26% (26 of 135) in those without signet ring cell component (p < 0.001). Four cases with signet ring cell component were evaluated as clinical complete response (cCR), all of whom also achieved pCR; in contrast, only 9 of 15 (60%) cCR cases without signet ring cell achieved pCR. Conclusion: Our data suggest that the signet ring cell component in pretreatment biopsies may be a potential predictor of tumor response to PCRT in rectal cancer. Background: Short bowel syndrome (SBS) resulting from extensive intestinal resection is thought to significantly affect gut microbiota. Data are limited on the signatures of the intestinal microbiome in SBS with different anatomical types.Aims: The aim of our investigation was to characterize the composition and function of gut microbiota in SBS with or without ileocecal resection (ICR).Methods: Six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats underwent 75% small bowel resection (SBR) with the ileocecal junction intact (SBR group, jejunoileal anastomosis, n = 10) or removed (ICR group, jejunocolic anastomosis, n = 10), or sham surgery (sham group, n = 10). Colonic contents of the rats were collected 28 days after operation, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was performed on the MiSeq Illumina platform to analyze bacterial composition.Results: Overall structures of the gut microbiome differed significantly among the three groups. The bacterial α-diversity of the ICR group was remarkably lower than that of the sham group. ICR rats were enriched with Lactobacillus and opportunistic pathogens from Proteobacteria but depleted of commensal genera belonging to the Lachnospiraceae, Ruminococcaceae and Erysipelotrichaceae families. Genera from the Bacteroidales S24-7 group, Porphyromonadaceae, Prevotellaceae, Rikenellaceae and Christensenellaceae were prevalent in SBR rats. Functional pathways of branched-chain and aromatic amino acid biosynthesis, lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis and infectious diseases were abundant in the ICR group, while SBR rats featured pathways of C5 branched dibasic acid metabolism, biotin metabolism and one carbon pool folate.Conclusions: ICR causes dramatically more severe intestinal dysbiosis than SBR only in SBS rat models, resulting in altered functional profiles of the gut microbiome. Rotating electrodes can effectively improve the processing performance of micro-electrical discharge machining (micro-EDM), but there is still a lack of systematic research on the specific effects of electrode rotation and rotational speed changes. In this paper, the effects of electrode rotation and rotational speed on the discharge channel, debris stress, and debris motion in micro-EDM were analyzed theoretically. An AISI304 sheet was used as the workpiece and helical tungsten carbide alloy as the electrode. The through-hole drilling experiments of micro-EDM were carried out at low and high discharge energy and different electrode rotational speeds. In terms of processing efficiency, the effects of electrode rotation and rotational speed on material removal rate (MRR), relative tool wear ratio (RTWR), and short circuit number were analyzed. The results show that MRR increases first and then decreases, RTWR and short circuit number decrease first and then increase. In the aspect of processing precision, the impacts of electrode rotation and rotational speed on taper angle and overcut were analyzed. The results show that the electrode rotational speed has little effect on the change of the taper angle. In addition, when the electrode rotational speed is small, there is no obvious change in overcut. When the speed is too high, the overcut increases obviously and shows a trend of continuous increase. Finally, by comparing the experimental results, the optimal electrode rotational speeds of micro-EDM with two kinds of discharge energy were determined. Incidental detection of lymphoma in lymph node (LN) dissection for carcinoma is extremely rare. The occurrence and clinicopathological features of this rare condition have not been characterised. The medical records of 11,889 consecutive patients who underwent LN dissection for carcinoma in the abdominopelvic cavity were retrospectively reviewed. Among these patients, 11 had lymphomas detected in LN dissections and 7 had no previous history of lymphoma, representing an incidental detection rate of 0.06% (7/11889). The patients had a median age of 63 years (range, 48-69 years), and the male-to-female ratio was 1:2.5. The sites and histological types of the carcinoma were as follows: adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon (2 cases), endometrioid adenocarcinoma of the endometrium (2 cases), squamous carcinoma of the uterine cervix (1 case), adenocarcinoma of the stomach (1 case), and adenocarcinoma of the rectum (1 case). All incidental lymphoma cases (100%, 7/7) were low-grade B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL), including 5 cases of follicular lymphoma (grades 1-2) and 2 cases of small lymphocytic lymphoma. The median follow-up interval was 39 months (5-65 months). All the patients were alive at the end of the follow-up period. Low-grade B-NHL can be incidentally detected during LN dissection for carcinoma in the abdominopelvic cavity. The subtype of incidental lymphoma is likely related to the epidemiology of lymphoma classes in the corresponding area. In this study, we designed a novel drug-eluting coating for vascular implants consisting of a core coating of the anti-proliferative drug docetaxel (DTX) and a shell coating of the platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor monoclonal antibody SZ-21. The core/shell structure was sprayed onto the surface of 316L stainless steel stents using a coaxial electrospray process with the aim of creating a coating that exhibited a differential release of the two drugs. The prepared stents displayed a uniform coating consisting of nano/micro particles. In vitro drug release experiments were performed, and we demonstrated that a biphasic mathematical model was capable of capturing the data, indicating that the release of the two drugs conformed to a diffusion-controlled release system. We demonstrated that our coating was capable of inhibiting the adhesion and activation of platelets, as well as the proliferation and migration of smooth muscle cells (SMCs), indicating its good biocompatibility and anti-proliferation qualities. In an in vivo porcine coronary artery model, the SZ-21/DTX drug-loaded hydrophobic core/hydrophilic shell particle coating stents were observed to promote re-endothelialization and inhibit neointimal hyperplasia. This core/shell particle-coated stent may serve as part of a new strategy for the differential release of different functional drugs to sequentially target thrombosis and in-stent restenosis during the vascular repair process and ensure rapid re-endothelialization in the field of cardiovascular disease. A cardiovascular stent that releases drugs to prevent artery blockage has been developed by researchers in China, the United Kingdom and Italy. A common treatment for cardiovascular disease, coronary stents ensure blood flow by keeping arteries open. Many of these stents also release drugs to repair the damage that these devices can do to surrounding tissue. Such damage includes the proliferation of smooth muscle cells that build up as scar tissue on the inside of the artery. Guixue Wang and Tieying Yin from the Bioengineering College of Chongqing University, China, and co-workers sprayed stainless-steel stents with particles consisting of a shell of the anti-proliferative drug docetaxel and an antibody core which prevents the formation of blood clots. Tests of their device using a pig coronary artery showed that smooth muscle cell proliferation was inhibited. Hydrophobic core/hydrophilic shell platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor monoclonal antibody (SZ-21)/docetaxel (DTX) dual-drug loaded stents exhibiting a uniform coating of nano/micro particles using coaxial electrospray were prepared. Experimental data combined with a biphasic mathematical model indicated the release of the two drugs conformed to a diffusion-controlled release system. The core/shell SZ-21/DTX dual-drug loaded stents showed good blood and cell compatibility, promoted re-endothelialization in vivo and reduced in-stent restenosis in porcine coronary arteries. In the process of laser additive manufacturing, the transmission efficiency of laser energy and the forming quality are influenced by the plasma which plays a fundamental role in coupling the incident radiation to the material. The aim of this work is to present an effective spectral diagnosis method for quality research in laser additive manufacturing. A spectrum acquisition system for direct metal deposition (DMD) was established by using fiber optic spectrometer to collect the radiation during the forming process under different process parameters. The relationships between laser powers, powder feeding rate, traverse speed, and the radiation intensity of the plasma were found. Meanwhile, special wavelengths were chosen to establish the time-domain diagram (the relationship between the intensity and time) corresponding to the process, and some forming defects caused by the changes of processing parameters were correlated with the spectral information. What is more, to diagnose the defects automatically, statistical process control (SPC) method was used to analyze the correlations between intensity fluctuation and the forming defects. The findings of the paper will be helpful to understand the formative mechanism and influencing factors of laser-induced plasma during laser additive manufacturing and lay the foundations for automatic quality control of laser additive manufacturing process. In electrical discharge machining (EDM), material is heated to an extremely high temperature then moved by melting and vaporization. Understanding the energy distribution and heat transfer during the process is conducive to knowing more about the machining mechanism of EDM. Many researches have been conducted to explore the energy distribution in micro EDM. Almost all of these efforts did not consider the difference in material removal mechanism between conventional and micro EDM, which has severe effects on the accuracy of their research. This paper proposes a method in regard to micro EDM for estimating plasma radius and energy distribution through comparing the results of experiment and theoretical calculation. In this method, the differences in the material removal mechanism between conventional and micro EDM are properly considered. The results of single discharge experiment were analyzed by this method. The plasma radius and fraction of energy transferred into workpiece are determined by the discharge current and discharge duration. The increase of discharge current and discharge duration led to the increase of plasma radius, while low discharge current and high discharge duration is helpful for improving the fraction of energy transferred into workpiece. With the development of micro electro mechanical system (MEMS), the application of micro components is becoming increasingly wide. Micro electrical discharge machining (micro EDM) is one of the most effective manufacturing processes for micro components. During past few decades, some innovative methods for improving micro EDM performance have been proposed. Using special-shaped electrode is just one of them. Although micro EDM with helical electrode has been proposed and the availability has been proved for several years, relatively little is known about the precise effect of helical electrode rotation on micro EDM performance. In this study, micro through-holes were machined on Ti6Al4V sample with a cylindrical electrode and helical electrode. The helical electrode achieves better machining performance overall compared to the cylindrical electrode due to its favorable debris removal ability. The higher the rotational speed of helical electrode, the higher the material removal rate (MRR). When using the cylindrical electrode, the MRR first increases and then decreases after reaching a peak at 3000 rpm. Higher MRR is obtainable with the helical electrode with reverse rotation; with forward rotation, it yields higher machining precision (lower overcut and taper rate). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is consistently associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, the manifestation and prognostic value of serum EBV antibodies still remain unknown. One hundred and forty-one patients with ENKTCL were evaluated for serum EBV EA-IgA and VCA-IgA antibodies levels in the past 24 years in our institution. Their correlation with clinicopathological features, plasma EBV DNA load, and patients' outcomes was analyzed. EBV EA-IgA ≥1:10 and VCA-IgA ≥1:160 were found in 18.4 and 16.3% of patients, respectively. They correlated with adverse ENKTCL profile and inferior overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). EA-IgA ≥1:10 was an independent prognostic factor on OS (RR = 2.276, p = 0.008) and associated with lower complete response (CR) rate (34.8 vs 70.6%, p = 0.001) and higher relapse rate in CR patients (62.5 vs 34.7%, p = 0.016). In subgroup analysis, both EA-IgA ≥1:10 and VCA-IgA ≥1:160 significantly correlated with inferior OS and PFS in patients with stage I/II, IPI score 0-1, plasma EBV DNA (+), and CR. Patients with plasma EBV DNA (+) and EA-IgA ≥1:10 (or VCA-IgA ≥1:160) had significantly shorter periods of OS and PFS in comparison with other corresponding groups. Elevated serum EBV EA-IgA and VCA-IgA levels were related to adverse ENKTCL profile and correlated with poor treatment response, early relapse, and poor prognosis in patients with ENKTCL. Background: Few articles focused on endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD) in the management of Crohn's strictures in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract.Aims: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of EBD for Crohn's strictures in the upper GI tract and to determine early predictors of response and surgical intervention.Methods: All eligible patients who underwent EBD for Crohn's strictures in the upper GI tract were retrospectively reviewed. The long-term success was defined as the recovery of normal diets without surgical intervention over the follow-up period. In order to seek early predictors, patients who achieved long-term success were compared with those who didn't.Results: A total of 67 dilations of upper GI strictures were performed between June 2011 and March 2015 on 24 patients (mean age 25.6 ± 6.7, 20 male) with Crohn's disease. Technical success was achieved in 62 of 67 dilations (92.5 %) with a complication rate of 3 %. After the median follow-up period of 23.0 months (range 6.2-51.2 months), nine patients underwent surgical intervention, nine patients were still depending on tube feeding; in the meantime, only six (25 %) patients achieved long-term success. Additionally, patients who remained 1 month intervention-free (55.6 vs. 5.9 %, P = 0.015) were more likely to achieve long-term success.Conclusions: EBD was a safe procedure, but not a potent therapy for Crohn's upper GI strictures. Little is known about the role of progranulin (PGRN) in cervical cancer, which is an autocrine growth factor. We used immunohistochemistry, western blot, and ELISA to determine the expression levels of PGRN in cervical cancer and cervical cancer cell lines. Immortalized normal cervical cell line H8 with lower PGRN expression was treated with recombinant human PGRN (rhPGRN) and forced expression of PGRN by transfection and cell proliferation were determined. PGRN knockdown by siRNA was also performed in HeLa cells with high PGRN expression and cell proliferation was also determined. Furthermore, H8 cell xenograft mouse model was employed to determine if PGRN treatment could increase tumorigenesis of H8 cell xenograft. Our results showed that PGRN expression was significantly increased in cervical cancer tissue and high expression of PGRN is closely correlated with the degree of malignancy in cervical cancer cell lines. Increased PGRN expression or rhPGRN treatment increased the proliferation of H8 cells. Consistently, PGRN knockdown in HeLa cells by siRNA transfection reduced proliferation of HeLa cells. In H8 cell xenograft model, both intraperitoneal and intratumoral rhPGRN treatments increased tumorigenic capacity of H8 cell line. Primary central nervous system (CNS) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (NKTCL), is an extremely rare tumor. To the best of our knowledge, only four cases have been described previously. Here, we report a case of primary CNS NKTCL in a 25-year-old immunocompetent Chinese male. The patient presented with worsening dizziness, headaches, and vomiting for approximately 2 weeks. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated three masses with solid components entirely in the parenchyma of the right hemisphere, and no sinonasal/nasopharyngeal lesions were found. The patient underwent a partial resection of the right temporal mass. Histological examination revealed that intermediate-sized, pleomorphic lymphocytes were arranged in an angiocentric distribution with large geographic necroses. The tumor cells expressed CD3ε, CD56, TIA-1, granzyme B, and Epstein−Barr virus-encoded RNAs. A rearrangement study showed T-cell receptor γ-chain gene rearrangement with monoclonal appearance. Postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy were also given, but the lymphoma failed to respond to therapy and the patient died 18 months later. Our observation and the four others found in the literature indicate that primary CNS NKTCL occurs predominantly in adult males. This is the youngest patient with primary CNS NKTCL reported. A fast authentication mode based on Multi-Block Chaining (MBC) is put forward; and its security is proved. The MBC mode is for new generation block cipher algorithms. Its speed is about 13% faster than that of the authentication modes in common use (for example, cipher block chaining-message authentication code mode). The dependence test results meet the requirement. The MBC mode is complete; its degree of avalanche effect is about 0.9993; its degree of strict avalanche criterion is 0.992 or so. The frequency test results indicate that the output generated by the MBC mode has uniformity. The binary matrix rank test results imply that it is linear independent among disjoint sub-matrices of the output. Maurer’s universal statistical test results show that the output could be significantly compressed without loss of information. Run test, spectral test, non-overlapping template matching test, overlapping template matching test, Lempel-Ziv compression test, linear complexity test, serial test, approximate entropy test, cumulative sums test, random excursions test and random excursions variant test results fulfill the requirements of all. Purpose: To investigate the performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics models for benign and malignant prostate lesion discrimination and extracapsular extension (ECE) and positive surgical margins (PSM) prediction., Methods and Materials: In total, 459 patients who underwent multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) before prostate biopsy were included. Radiomic features were extracted from both T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). Patients were divided into different training sets and testing sets for different targets according to a ratio of 7:3. Radiomics signatures were built using radiomic features on the training set, and integrated models were built by adding clinical characteristics. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) were calculated to assess the classification performance on the testing sets., Results: The radiomics signatures for benign and malignant lesion discrimination achieved AUCs of 0.775 (T2WI), 0.863 (ADC) and 0.855 (ADC + T2WI). The corresponding integrated models improved the AUC to 0.851/0.912/0.905, respectively. The radiomics signatures for ECE achieved the highest AUC of 0.625 (ADC), and the corresponding integrated model achieved the highest AUC (0.728). The radiomics signatures for PSM prediction achieved AUCs of 0.614 (T2WI) and 0.733 (ADC). The corresponding integrated models reached AUCs of 0.680 and 0.766, respectively., Conclusions: The MRI-based radiomics models, which took advantage of radiomic features on ADC and T2WI scans, showed good performance in discriminating benign and malignant prostate lesions and predicting ECE and PSM. Combining radiomics signatures and clinical factors enhanced the performance of the models, which may contribute to clinical diagnosis and treatment.
