Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices provide a considerable amount of data that can be used to predict future values, enabling sustainable control of blood glucose levels to prevent hypo-/hyperglycemic events and associated complications. However, it is a challenging task in diabetes management as the data from CGM are sequential, time-varying, nonlinear, and non-stationary. Due to their ability to deal with these types of data, artificial intelligence (AI)-based methods have emerged as a useful tool. The traditional approach is to implement AI methods in baseline form, which results in exploiting less sequential information from the data, thus reducing the prediction accuracy. To address this issue, we propose a novel glucose prediction approach within the encoder–decoder framework, aimed at improving prediction accuracy despite the complex and non-stationary nature of CGM data. Sequential information is extracted using a convolutional neural network-based encoder, while predictions are generated by a gated recurrent unit (GRU)-based decoder. In our approach, the decoder is designed with the multilayer GRU attached to an attention layer to ensure the modulation of the most relevant information so that it leads to a more accurate prediction. The proposed attention-based multilayer GRU approach has been extensively evaluated on the OhioT1DM dataset, and experimental results demonstrate the advantage of our proposed approach over the state-of-the-art approaches. Peroxidase mimicking Fe3O4@Chitosan (Fe3O4@Chi) nanozyme was synthesized and used for high-sensitive enzyme-free colorimetric detection of H2O2. The nanozyme was characterized in comparison with Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) using X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, and thermogravimetric analysis. The catalytic performance of Fe3O4@Chi nanozyme was first evaluated by UV–Vis spectroscopy using 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine. Unlike Fe3O4NPs, Fe3O4@Chi nanozyme exhibited an intrinsic peroxidase activity with a detection limit of 69 nM. Next, the nanozyme was applied to a microfluidic paper-based analytical device (µPAD) and colorimetric analysis was performed at varying concentrations of H2O2 using a machine learning-based smartphone app called "Hi-perox Sens++." The app with machine learning classifiers made the system user-friendly as well as more robust and adaptive against variation in illumination and camera optics. In order to train various machine learning classifiers, the images of the µPADs were taken at 30 s and 10 min by four smartphone brands under seven different illuminations. According to the results, linear discriminant analysis exhibited the highest classification accuracy (98.7%) with phone-independent repeatability at t = 30 s and the accuracy was preserved for 10 min. Although it is reported that olanzapine (OLZ), which is an atypical antipsychotic drug, causes sexual dysfunction in men, it is noteworthy that there is not any study evaluating the toxic effects of OLZ on the male reproductive system. In the scope of this research, it was aimed to assess the reproductive toxic effects of OLZ by oral administration of 2.5, 5, or 10 mg/kg of it to male rats for 28 days. For this purpose, sperm concentration, motility and morphology, and DNA damage were determined, and histopathological examination of testis tissue was carried out in rats. Also, the levels of serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and testosterone, which play roles in the regulation of reproductive functions, and the levels of glutathione (GSH), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) which play roles in reproductive pathologies as oxidative stress biomarkers, were determined. According to the results, normal sperm morphology was decreased in 5 ve 10 mg/kg OLZ-administered groups, and pathological findings were evident in the testicular structure of the OLZ-administered group when compared with the control group. It was determined that serum LH, FSH, and testosterone levels were decreased in the OLZ-administered group. Also, decreases of GSH levels in testis tissue were determined and evaluated as the markers of the oxidative stress induced by OLZ in the testis. In conclusion, it was determined that reproductive toxic effects were induced in rats by OLZ administration.
