Harnessing solar energy by photocatalytically converting oxygen and water into high-value-added H2O2 is a promising way of alleviating both environmental and energy issues. It is worth noting that suppressing detrimental side reactions, such as the generation of •O2−, is a critical approach to enhancing H2O2 production. Herein, a 2-fold interpenetrating 3D uranium-organic framework (YTU-W-1) was developed and introduced for photocatalytic H2O2 production. The material demonstrates a different photocatalytic mechanism when employing uranyl as an initiator, as compared with the conventional semiconductor photocatalytic pathway involving photo-generated charge carriers. Benefiting from the strong hydrogen abstraction effect of the U≡O• and the direct one-step oxygen reduction pathway, YTU-W-1 exhibits enhanced photocatalytic performance for H2O2 production with yield efficiency of 221 µmol h−1 g−1. Furthermore, YTU-W-1 displays a high H2O2 selectivity of 68%, confirmed by rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) measurement. DFT calculations were used to elucidate the critical role of uranyl in the photocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction for H2O2 production. This research introduces an innovative approach to photo driven H2O2 production, underscoring the potential for heterogeneous catalysts to engage in photocatalytic reactions independently of photo-generated charge carriers. The development of adsorbent materials for effective capture of radioactive iodomethane (CH3I) from the off-gas of used nuclear fuel reprocessing, remains a significant and challenging line of research because currently state-of-art adsorbents still suffer from low binding affinity with CH3I. Here, we proposed a brand-new adsorption topological structure by developing a 2D interdigitated layered framework, named SCU-20, featuring slide-like channel with multiple active sites for CH3I capture. The responsive rotating-adaptive aperture of SCU-20 enables the optimal utilization of all active sites within the pore for highly selective recognition and capture of CH3I. A record-breaking CH3I uptake capacity of 1.84 g/g was achieved under static sorption conditions with saturated CH3I vapor. Both experimental and theoretical findings demonstrated that the exceptional uptake of SCU-20 towards CH3I can be attributed to the confined physical electrostatic adsorption of F sites, coupled with the chemical nitrogen methylation reaction with uncoordinated N atoms of pyrazine. Moreover, dynamic CH3I uptake capacity potentially allows for the capture of CH3I in simulated real-world off gas reprocessing conditions. Ethanol is a versatile but volatile chemical that may threaten both industrial safety and human health. To address the need for improved detection and monitoring of ethanol leakage and concentration, we successfully synthesized indium-doped ZnO (In-ZnO) with a hollow nanocage structure through the hydrothermal method and calcination, effectively expanding the specific surface area from 9.54 to 18.45 m2 g−1, increasing the proportion of absorbed oxygen from 5.6% to 9.4% and that of oxygen vacancies from 32.7% to 38.5%, and promoting the interaction between ethanol molecules and active sites. Our optimized doping of 1% In-ZnO exhibited a substantial increase in its responsiveness when exposed to 100 ppm ethanol at 328 °C (R = 313.8). Confucianism provides a specific view on the world held by many people living in several Asian societies. It offers views on humans and nature that generally differ from other traditional or Western modern views. The paper presents a systematic analysis of the literature in education with a focus on science education about the connection of Confucianism with education for sustainability. It suggests a framework for how education for sustainability can be operated in the foreground of Confucian societies taking concepts from the international literature into consideration. This critical review provides justification for a stronger reflection about how to include ideas from Confucianism into education for sustainability in the teaching and learning of science. It suggests that Confucian thinking offers a rich and authentic context for science learning in Confucian societies and and also provides a chance to reflect on views of humans, nature, and science in science education in other societies, potentially contributing to the development of more balanced and holistic worldviews. Platinum recovery from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in highly acidic solutions is significant to the electronics industry and environmental remediation. However, the lack of ingenious design and synergetic coordination gives rise to unsatisfied PtCl42− extraction capacities and selectivities in most previously reported adsorbents (e.g., polymeric and inorganic materials). Herein, we proposed a synergistic strategy that realizes highly selective PtCl42− uptake through first- and second-sphere coordinations. The proof-of-concept imine-linked covalent organic framework (SCU-COF-3) was found to chelate PtCl42−via the direct N⋯Pt coordination and the synergistically interlaminar N—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, which was disclosed by the comprehensive analysis of extended X-ray adsorption fine structure (EXAFS) characterizations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The unique adsorption mechanism imparts a superior adsorption capacity (168.4 mg g−1) and extraordinary Pt(II) selectivity to SCU-COF-3 under static conditions. In addition, SCU-COF-3 exhibits an upgraded distribution coefficient of 1.62 × 105 mL g−1, one order of magnitude higher than those of reported natural adsorbents. Specifically, SCU-COF-3 can extract PtCl42− quantitatively from a simulated acidic waste solution coexisting with other 12 competitive ions, suggesting its promising application in practical scenarios. Dendritic cells (DCs) play an important role in activating, regulating, and maintaining the immune response. CD103+ DCs, one of the DC subpopulations, mainly function in the mucosal immune response. They are responsible for capturing and carrying antigens to the relevant lymph nodes to activate the downstream immune responses. However, there is limited available information regarding the function of CD103+ DCs in the porcine mucosal immune response. In this study, two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against porcine CD103 were prepared, and their applications were evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA), and flow cytometry. The produced mAbs (7F3 and 9H3) were both IgG1 subtype with κ chains in the light chain. The 7F3 recognizes a linear epitope (PDLRPRAQVYFSDLE) while 9H3 recognizes another linear epitope (QILDEGQVLLGAVGA). The prepared mAbs could be used in vivo to detect the cells expressing CD103 molecules, giving wide applications of both mAbs. In conclusion, this study successfully prepared 2 mAbs against CD103 protein, and they showed applicability in vivo experiments, which will provide the basis for the study of porcine mucosal immunity. Grouting is an important method to reinforce soft coal roadway, and the presence of primary cracks in the coal body has an important influence on the grouting effect. With the discrete element simulation method, the grouting process of the soft coal seam was simulated. The mechanism of primary cracks on grouting was revealed, while the influence of fracture characteristics and grouting pressure on the grouting effect was analyzed. The results demonstrated that grouting in the soft coal seam involves the stages of seepage, rapid splitting, slow splitting, and stability. Due to the presence of primary cracks, the grouting diffusion radius increased significantly. Under the slurry pressure, the tensile stress concentration was formed at the crack tip, and the slurry split the coal once the splitting pressure was reached. In addition, the distribution characteristics of fractures are found to have a great influence on the grouting effect. It is observed that smaller fracture spacing is associated with a larger slurry diffusion radius and thus easier penetration of the primary crack tips. The fracture angle affects the direction of fracture propagation. The secondary fracture formed by splitting is a tensile fracture, which is more likely to extend along the direction parallel to the maximum principal stress. Porcine enteric coronaviruses (CoVs) cause highly contagious enteric diarrhea in suckling piglets. These COV infections are characterized by clinical signs of vomiting, watery diarrhea, dehydration, and high morbidity and mortality, resulting in significant economic losses and tremendous threats to the pig farming industry worldwide. Because the clinical manifestations of pigs infected by different CoVs are similar, it is difficult to differentiate between the specific pathogens. Effective high-throughput detection methods are powerful tools used in the prevention and control of diseases. The immune system of piglets is not well developed, so serological methods to detect antibodies against these viruses are not suitable for rapid and early detection. This paper reviews various PCR-based methods used for the rapid and efficient detection of these pathogenic CoVs in swine intestines. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a novel class of diagnostic and therapeutic target in cancer. Here, we aimed to explore the effects and mechanism of miR-195 regulation in colon cancer. The expressions of several putative miRNAs in colon tumors, compared to those in normal tissues, were investigated by bioinformatical analysis of a Gene Expression Omnibus database. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis (qRT-PCR) was used to validate the identified changes in normal tissues, primary tumors, and metastatic tumors. MTT, soft agar colony formation, and transwell assays were used to evaluate the effects of miR-195 overexpression or inhibition on cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion. Targets of miR-195 were identified by TargetScan, and subsequently verified by qRT-PCR and Western blot. The role of miR-195 in the β-catenin pathway was also studied using RT-PCR and Western blot. MiR-195 expression was downregulated in colon carcinoma tissues and negatively correlated with the metastatic potential. While transfecting miR-195 mimics decreased the proliferation, migration, and invasion of colon cancer cells, miR-195 inhibition exerted opposing effects. WNT3A was identified as a direct target of miR-195. β-catenin was also downregulated by miR-195 in colon cancers. MiR-195 downregulation is associated with the enhanced proliferation, migration, and invasion of colon cancer. MiR-195 directly downregulates WNT3A.
