- Abstract
Aggregation dynamics of water-in-oil microemulsion containing polyacrylamide gels have been investigated. Gels were formed only in an aqueous phase of water-in-oil microemulsions composed of a surfactant Aerosol OT, iso-octane, and water. Increasing the temperature, the percolation transition first occurred and then the phase separation occurred. The percolation transition was characterized by a steep increase of the electrical conductivity, which was interpreted in terms of a power law. The phase separation process initiated by a temperature jump was investigated by using a time-resolved light scattering. It was found that the scattering intensity can be scaled with the scaling law similar to that for the ordinary spinodal decomposition if the fractal dimension is taken as the dimensionality of the system.
