Molecule-based selective contacts have become a crucial component to ensure high-efficiency inverted perovskite solar cells1–5. These molecules always consist of a conjugated core with heteroatom substitution to render the desirable carrier-transport capability6–9. So far, the design of successful conjugation cores has been limited to two N-substituted π-conjugated structures, carbazole and triphenylamine, with molecular optimization evolving around their derivatives2,5,10–12. However, further improvement of the device longevity has been hampered by the concomitant limitations of the molecular stability induced by such heteroatom-substituted structures13,14. A more robust molecular contact without sacrificing the electronic properties is in urgent demand, but remains a challenge. Here we report a peri-fused polyaromatic core structure without heteroatom substitution that yields superior carrier transport and selectivity over conventional heteroatom-substituted core structures. This core structure produced a relatively chemically inert and structurally rigid molecular contact, which considerably improved the performance of perovskite solar cells in terms of both efficiency and durability. With the accelerated development of modern detection and communication technology, the multifunctional wearable materials with excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, infrared stealth, and human monitoring for improving military combat capability have received extensive attention. In this work, the lightweight melamine foam (MF)@silver nanowires (AgNWs)-iron nanowires (FeNWs) (AgFe-MF) was fabricated by a vacuum-assisted dip-coating method. Due to the porous structure and synergistic electrical and magnetic losses, this lightweight (0.115 g/cm3) composite foam with an ultra-low filler content (0.62 vol.%) exhibited an ideal EMI shielding efficiency of 38.4 dB. On the other hand, the AgFe-MF realized a powerful multifunctional integration. The surface saturation temperature of the AgFe-MF reached 94.2 °C under a low applied voltage of 1.8 V and remained extremely fast heating and cooling response and terrific working stability, resulting in excellent infrared stealth and camouflage effects. Furthermore, taking virtues of the elastic porous conductive architecture, the AgFe-MF was utilized as a piezoresistive sensor exhibiting board compressive interval of 0–1.62 kPa (50% strain) with a good sensitivity of 0.57 kPa−1. In this study, polyvinyl butyral (PVB) was used as raw material, combined with electrospinning and microperforation process to prepare micro-/nanofiber membranes with excellent low-frequency sound absorption performance. To comprehensively explore the influence mechanisms of fiber diameter, multi-layer structure, and microperforated structure on the sound absorption performance, experiment and theoretical analysis were both conducted. Experimental results showed that appropriately reducing the fiber diameter, increasing the number of PVB membrane layers, and setting microperforated structure and cavity could improve the sound absorption performance in the low-frequency range. By adjusting the number of layers and the microperforation structure, the effective sound absorption band range of the fiber membrane can also be adjusted to better meet the sound absorption requirements. When the number of fiber layers was 20, the perforation rate was 1%, the perforation diameter was 0.6 mm, and the cavity depth was 40 mm, the PVB fiber membrane had peaks of 0.8483 and 0.9792 at 350 Hz and 480 Hz, respectively. Theoretical analysis showed that the acoustic electrical analogy model can well predict the resonance frequency and sound absorption peak of fiber membrane, and proved that microporous fiber membrane had both porous and resonant sound absorption mechanisms. The effect of ambient temperature on health continues to draw more and more attention with the global warming. Bacillary dysentery (BD) is a major global environmental health issue and affected by temperature and other environmental variables. In the current study, we evaluated the effect of temperature on the incidence of BD from January 1st, 2008 to December 31st, 2011 in Jiayuguan, a temperate continental arid climate city in the Hexi Corridor of northwest China. A distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) was performed to evaluate the lag effect of temperature on BD up to 30 days. Results showed the risk of BD increased with temperature significantly, especially after 8 °C. The maximum risk of BD was observed at extreme high temperature (29 °C). The effect of temperature on BD risk was significantly divided into short-term effect at lag 5 days and long-term effect at lag 30 days. Age ≤ 15 years were most affected by high temperature. The maximum cumulative risk for lag 30 days (25.8, 95% CIs: 11.8–50.1) was observed at 29 °C. Age ≤ 15 years and females showed short-term effect at lag 5 days and long-term effect at lag 30 days, while age > 15 years and males showed acute short-term effect at lag 0 and light long-term effect at lag 16 days. Increasing studies have reported temperature modification effects on air pollutants–induced respiratory diseases. In the current study, daily data of respiratory emergency room visits (ERVs), meteorological factors, and concentrations of air pollutants were collected from 2013 to 2016 in Lanzhou, a northwest city in China. Daily average temperature was stratified into low (≤ 25 percentile, P25), medium (25–75 percentile, P25–P75) and high (≥ 75 percentile, P75) to explore how temperature modifies the effects of air pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, SO2, and NO2) on respiratory ERVs by using generalized additive Poisson regression model (GAM). Seasonal modification was also investigated. Results showed that (a) PM10, PM2.5, and NO2 had the strongest effects on respiratory ERVs in low temperature; (b) males and 15-and-younger were more vulnerable in low temperature while females and those older than 46 years were highly affected in high temperature; (c) PM10, PM2.5, and NO2 were mostly associated with the total and both males and females in winter, while SO2 resulted in the highest risk for the total and males in autumn and females in spring. Ambient air pollution has been regarded as an important cause of the morbidity and mortality of respiratory diseases. In the current work, a total of 469,490 respiratory emergency room (ER) visits in Lanzhou, China from Jan 1, 2013 to Dec 31, 2016 were collected. A generalized additive model (GAM) was used to investigate the association between O3 and respiratory ER visits for the different gender and age subgroups. The results showed that: (a) with per inter-quartile range (IQR) (31 µg/m3) increase in O3, the greatest relative risk (RR) of respiratory ER visits for the total was 1.014 (95% CI 1.008–1.020) at lag 4 days. Females and 16-to-45-year-olds were relatively more sensitive to O3; (b) the significant lag effects were found in single-day lag models, with the highest RR values for different groups were observed at lag 3-lag 5 days. The multi-day cumulative lag effects were stronger for the total; (c) in the multiple-pollutant models, the effects of O3 were generally increased when introducing other pollutants (PM10, PM2.5, SO2 and NO2) for adjustment. In recent years, O3 pollution had been worsening in China and became a major challenge for human health. To evaluate the O3 effects on circulatory and respiratory mortality in Harbin, a high latitude city of northeast China, we applied a time-series study from 2014 to 2016. After collecting data and adjusting for the effects of confounders, we built the generalized additive model to assess the associations between O3 and mortality at different lag days. The results showed that an interquartile-range (IQR) increase in O3 concentration corresponded to excess risk (ER) of 2.00% (95%CI: − 0.25–4.30%) for circulatory mortality at lag 0 and 8.02% (95%CI: 4.18–12.01%) for respiratory mortality at lag 2 days in the single-pollutant model. Stratified analysis showed that O3 had a greater effect on females than on males. The effect of O3 exposure on circulatory mortality was stronger during the warm period, while the opposite trend was founded for respiratory mortality. This work aims to obtain efficient sound absorbing materials in the low and middle frequency. Jute fiber and polypropylene were used to prepare a kind of composite material by mixing-hot pressing process. On this basis, micro-perforated composite materials with various perforation characteristics were fabricated. The effect of drilling diameter, punching ratio, thickness and cavity depth on its acoustic performance was studied. The acoustic-electric analogy model and transfer matrix method of the micro-perforated plate were introduced for analyzing the agreement between the theoretical value and the corresponding experimental results. It was found that the jute fiber reinforced polypropylene microperforated composite had good sound absorbing ability at the low and middle frequencies, and thus had obvious advantages compared with the traditional sound absorption materials. In addition, by properly adjusting the structural parameters, the materials can absorb broadband noise in different frequency ranges to meet diversified needs. To alleviate the energy crisis and global warming, photothermal catalysis is an attractive way to efficiently convert CO2 and renewable H2 into value-added fuels and chemicals. However, the catalytic performance is usually restricted by the trade-off between the dispersity and light absorption property of metal catalysts. Here we demonstrate a simple SiO2-protected metal–organic framework pyrolysis strategy to fabricate a new type of integrated photothermal nanoreactor with a comparatively high metal loading, dispersity, and stability. The core-satellite structured Co@SiO2 exhibits strong sunlight-absorptive ability and excellent catalytic activity in CO2 hydrogenation, which is ascribed to the functional separation of different sizes of Co nanoparticles. Large-sized plasmonic Co nanoparticles are mainly responsible for the light absorption and conversion to heat (nanoheaters), whereas small-sized Co nanoparticles with high intrinsic activities are responsible for the catalysis (nanoreactors). Purpose: The association between atmospheric particulate matter and emergency room visits for cerebrovascular disease were evaluated in Beijing. Methods: A generalized additive model was used to evaluate the associations between particulate matter and cerebrovascular disease, based on the daily data of meteorological elements, PM concentrations, and emergency room (ER) visits for cerebrovascular disease in Beijing from 2009 to 2012. Long-term trends and the effects of holidays, the day of the week, and confounding factors were controlled to determine the lag effect at 0–6 days. Single- and double-pollutant models were employed for different age and sex groups. Results: The effect of PM2.5 concentration on the number of daily ER visits for cerebrovascular disease was much stronger than that of PM10 concentration. PM2.5 and PM10 had maximum RR values of 1.096 and 1.054 at lag 6 for patients aged 61–75 years. For each inter-quartile range (IQR) increase in PM10 concentration, the maximum RR values for the total, males, females, aged 15–60 years, aged 61–75 years, and aged > 75 years were 1.024, 1.044, 1.043, 1.038, 1.054, and 1.032, respectively. For each IQR increase in PM2.5 concentration, the maximum RR values for the total, males, females, aged 15–60 years, aged 61–75 years, and aged > 75 years were 1.038, 1.064, 1.076, 1.054, 1.096, and 1.049, respectively. The RR values of the double-pollutant models were lower than those of the single-pollutant models. Conclusion: This study showed that the effects of PM pollution on cerebrovascular disease were different among different gender and age groups, and aged 61–75 years were mostly sensitive to particulate matters. The effects of PM2.5 on cerebrovascular disease were stronger than those of PM10. Previous studies have reported that daily average temperature is connected with respiratory diseases (RD), but proof is limited for the influence of the extreme low temperature on RD in Lanzhou, a northwestern China of temperate area. Generalized additive model (GAM) was built in this work to describe the relationship between daily mean temperature and RD in Lanzhou, China from 2012 to 2017. The results indicated that the exposure–response curve was inverse J-shaped, showing the lower the temperature, the larger the relative risk (RR). The RR of daily emergency room (ER) admissions in P5 extreme low temperature (the temperature below the fifth percentile, etc.) was larger than that in P10. The P5 extreme low temperature has the strongest effect at lag 0, and the RRs were 1.043 (95% CI: 1.030, 1.055) for the total, 1.031 (95% CI: 1.015, 1.046) for males and 1.058 (95% CI: 1.039, 1.077) for females. For different age groups, the largest RRs were 1.026 (95% CI: 1.013, 1.039) for the children (age < 16 years) at lag 5, 1.057 (95% CI: 1.030, 1.085) for the young adults (aged 16–45 years), 1.060 (95% CI: 1.023, 1.099) for the middle-aged (aged 46–60 years) and 1.121 (95% CI: 1.077, 1.166) for the elderly group of age > 60 years. Meanwhile, females and the elderly were more vulnerable to extreme temperature. The results could strengthen the scientific evidence of effects of extreme low temperature on RD in temperate areas. The clinical symptoms of perforating arteries differ, and responses to intravenous thrombolytic therapy are heterogeneous. Here, we investigated the effect of intravenous thrombolytic therapy and the related factors influencing acute perforating and non-perforating middle cerebral artery infarctions. We analyzed 320 patients with acute middle cerebral artery infarction who received alteplase thrombolysis within 4.5 h of onset at two stroke centers from January 2016 to December 2019. Outcome measures included rates of a favorable functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale scores of 0–2), distribution of modified Rankin Scale scores, intracranial hemorrhage, and symptomatic cerebral hemorrhage at 14 days, with comparisons between perforating artery and non-perforating artery cerebral infarction groups. In the perforating vessel disease group, 12 cases (17.4%) of intracranial hemorrhage occurred, with symptomatic cerebral hemorrhage in three cases (4.3%); there were no significant differences between the perforating and non-perforating vessel disease groups (all P > 0.05). In the perforating vessel disease group, the only significant prognostic factor was the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score before thrombolysis (Exp(B) = 1.365; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.124–1.659; P = 0.002), and the only significant risk factor for hemorrhagic transformation was previous perforator disease (Exp(B) = 0.078; P = 0.038). Regardless of whether an acute infarction is perforating or non-perforating, intravenous thrombolytic therapy can yield a favorable outcome. As one of the most important industrial cities in Northwest China, Lanzhou currently suffers from serious air pollution. This study analyzed the formation mechanism and potential source areas of persistent air pollution in Lanzhou during the heating period from November 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 based on the air pollutant concentrations and relevant meteorological data. Our findings indicate that particulate pollution was extremely severe during the study period. The daily PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations had significantly negative correlations with daily temperature, wind speed, maximum daily boundary layer height, while the daily PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations showed significantly positive correlations with daily relative humidity. Five persistent pollution episodes were identified and classified as either stagnant accumulation or explosive growth types according to the mechanism of pollution formation and evolution. The PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations and PM2.5/PM10 ratio followed a growing "saw-tooth cycle" pattern during the stagnant accumulation type event. Dust storms caused abrupt peaks in PM10 and a sharp decrease in the PM2.5/PM10 ratio in explosive growth type events. The potential sources of PM10 were mainly distributed in the Kumtag Desert in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Qaidam Basin and Hehuang Valley in Qinghai Province, and the western and eastern Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province. The contributions to PM10 were more than 120 μg/m3. The important potential sources of PM2.5 were located in Hehuang Valley in Qinghai and Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu; the concentrations of PM2.5 were more than 60 μg/m3. Under the global climate warming, extreme weather events occur more and more frequently. Epidemiological studies have proved that extreme temperature is strongly correlated with respiratory diseases. We evaluated extreme-temperature effect on respiratory emergency room (ER) visits for 5 years in Lanzhou, a northwest temperate climate city of China from January 1st, 2013, to August 31st, 2017. We built a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) to evaluate the lag effect up to 30 days. Results showed the relative risk (RR) of respiratory disease always reached the maximum at lag 0 day and decreased to 1.0 at lag 5 days. Extremely low temperature showed the lag effect of 22 days and the maximum RR was 1.415 (95% CI 1.295–1.546) at lag 0 day. Extremely high temperature showed the lag effect of 7 days and the maximum RR was 1.091 (95% CI 1.069–1.114) at lag 0 day. The elders (age > 65 years) were at the greatest risk to extreme temperatures and the response were very acute. Children (age ≤ 15 years) were at the lowest risk but the lag effect lasted the longest lag days than other subgroups. Males showed longer-term lag effect and higher RR than females. The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread worldwide and has led to recession, rising unemployment, and the collapse of the health-care system. The aim of this study was to explore the exposure–response relationship between daily confirmed COVID-19 cases and environmental factors. We used a time-series generalized additive model (GAM) to investigate the short-term association between COVID-19 and environmental factors by using daily meteorological elements, air pollutant concentration, and daily confirmed COVID-19 cases from January 21, 2020, to February 29, 2020, in Shanghai, China. We observed significant negative associations between daily confirmed COVID-19 cases and mean temperature (Tave), temperature humidity index (THI), and index of wind effect (K), whereas air quality index (AQI), PM2.5, PM10 NO2, and SO2 were significantly associated with the increase in daily confirmed COVID-19 cases. A 1 °C increase in Tave, one-unit increase in THI, and 10-unit increase in K (lag 0–7 days) were associated with 4.7, 1.8, and 1.6% decrease in daily confirmed cases, respectively. Daily Tave, THI, K, PM10, and SO2 had significant lag and persistence (lag 0–7 days), whereas the lag and persistence of AQI, PM2.5, and NO2 were significant at both lag 0–7 and 0–14 days. A 10-μg/m3 increase in PM10 and 1-μg/m3 increase in SO2 was associated with 13.9 and 5.7% increase in daily confirmed cases at lag 0–7 days, respectively, whereas a 10-unit increase in AQI and a 10-μg/m3 increase in PM2.5 and NO2 were associated with 7.9, 7.8, and 10.1% increase in daily confirmed cases at lag 0–14 days, respectively. Epidemiological studies have suggested that particulate matter (PM) pollution seriously affects human health, particularly it is closely associated with respiratory diseases. The aim of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the effect of PMs (PM10 and PM2.5) on emergency room (ER) visits for respiratory diseases in Lanzhou, a valley basin city in northwest China. Based on the data of the ER visits, daily concentration of particulate matters and daily meteorological elements from January 1, 2013, to July 31, 2017, we used a generalized additive model (GAM) of time series to evaluate the exposure–response relationship between PMs and respiratory ER visits. Seasonal modified effects of PM2.5 and PM10 on different age and gender groups were also performed. Results showed that the highest incidence of respiratory diseases occurred in winter. Respiratory ER visits for the total were significantly associated with PM2.5 (at lag 0 day) and PM10 (at lag 3 days), with relative risks (RRs) of 1.042 (95%CI: 1.036 –1.047) and 1.013 (95%CI: 1.011–1.016), respectively. Effects of PM pollutants on respiratory diseases are different among different age and gender groups. Children under 15 years and the elders over 60 years were the most sensitive to PM pollution, and males were more sensitive than females. Particulate matter (PM) has been proved to be a risk factor for the development of circulatory system diseases (CSDs) around the world. In this study, we collected daily air pollutants, emergency room (ER) visits for CSDs, and meteorological data from 2009 to 2012 in Beijing, China. After controlling for the long-term trend and eliminating the influence of confounding factors, the generalized additive model (GAM) was used to evaluate the short-term effects of PM10 on CSDs and cause-specific diseases. The results showed that for every 10 μg/m3 increase in PM10, the largest effect estimates in ER visits of total CSDs, arrhythmia, cerebrovascular diseases, high blood pressure, ischemic heart disease and other related diseases were 0.14% (95% CI: 0.06–0.23%), 0.37% (95% CI: − 0.23 to 0.97%), 0.20% (95% CI: 0.00–0.40%), 0.15% (95% CI: 0.02–0.27%), 0.18% (95% CI: 0.02–0.35%) and 0.35% (95% CI: − 0.04 to 0.79%), respectively. When NO2 or SO2 was added into the model, the effect estimates of PM10 were mostly attenuated, while in those models with PM2.5 added, the effect estimates of PM10 were mostly increased. Objective: To conduct a meta-analysis examining the effects of bariatric surgery on nocturnal hypoxemia in obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were searched (the last search date was June 10, 2018) to identify relevant clinical studies. The mean arterial oxygen saturation (MeanSaO2), nadir oxygen saturation (NadirSaO2), apnea hypopnea index (AHI), and body mass index (BMI) data during the perioperative period were extracted and analyzed using a random effects model. Then, we performed subgroup and sensitivity analyses and calculated the publication bias to assess the between-study heterogeneity.Results: In total, 15 studies with 636 patients were included; 13 were prospective observational trials, 1 was a randomized controlled trial (RCT), and 1 was a retrospective trial. After surgery, the MeanSaO2 and NadirSaO2 increased by 1.36 [95% CI (0.72, 2.00)] and 1.08 [95% CI (0.68, 1.49)], respectively, and the AHI and BMI decreased by 1.11 [95% CI (0.82, 1.40)] and 1.97 [95% CI (1.67, 2.27)], respectively. However, the heterogeneity across all trials was high; we identified some of the sources of that heterogeneity through subsequent subgroup and sensitivity analyses.Conclusions: Bariatric surgery is effective at improving nocturnal hypoxemia in obese patients with OSA; it also reduces body weight and the number of apnea events. A new cis-caffeoyl coumarin glycoside, cichorigenin-5-O-(4′-cis-caffeoyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), wasisolated from the stem barks of Fraxinus depauperata, together with two known coumarins, cichorigenin (2) and esculin (3). The chemical structures of compounds 1-3 were elucidated through spectroscopic and chemical analysis, as well as by comparison with the literature. Fibrillin-1 (FBN1) was reported to have impact on the physiological arterial stiffness and vascular remodeling with hypertension of recent years. In the previous study we reported the association of four functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of FBN1 gene and hypertension. Here, we further investigate the association of four tagging SNPs (tagSNPs) which covered remain genetic variation blocks of FBN1 gene with hypertension, blood pressure and efficacy of antihypertensive in a South Han Chinese population. A case-control study including 2,012 hypertension cases and 2,116 controls age- and sex-matched controls was conducted from a community-based population and four candidate tagSNPs of the FBN1 gene were genotyped. Association analysis by multiple logistic regression was conducted for allele, genotype and haplotype and hypertension, blood pressure trait and control status with antihypertensive. General linear model was applied to compare blood pressure levels between genotypes. The association of rs17361868 and hypertension was statistically significant and that was further observed in female, ≥55 years, non-smoking and non-drinking populations ( P < 0.05). Significant association of rs668842, rs11635140 and hypertension were observed in <55 years population as well as the later in female and non-smoking populations respectively. Haplotype G-T constructed of rs668842 and rs11635140 was significantly associated with hypertension comparing to reference haplotype A-C ( P = 0.022). Normally distributed square root of TGF-β1 (pg/ml) of hypertension cases (148.56 ± 66.46) was significantly higher than that of control (128.52 ± 65.11), P = 0.008. Furthermore, TGF-β1 was significantly correlated with SBP (r = 0.135, P = 0.018) and DBP (r = 0.154, P = 0.007) respectively whereas no statistical difference of blood pressure or TGF-β1 was observed between genotypes. Remarkably, rs17361868 were significantly associated with the status of blood pressure in the patients taking three of the antihypertensive drugs, Zhen Ju Jiang Ya tablets, Jiang Ya tablet and compound reserpine ( P < 0.05). The present study provides further association evidence of FBN1 gene polymorphisms and hypertension, antihypertensive efficacy.
