Postnatal depressive symptoms have harmful effects on families' well-being. This study reports the dyadic interactions between fathers' and mothers' social support, parenting sense of competence, and postnatal depressive symptoms, and explores the mediating role of parenting sense of competence in the relationship between social support and depressive symptoms. A multi-center, cross-sectional study was designed. A convenience sample of 280 participants (140 couples) in China completed assessments of study variables at three days postpartum. Mothers' social support was positively related to fathers' parenting sense of competence (β = 0.219, p =.018). Fathers' social support was negatively related to mothers' postnatal depressive symptoms (β = -0.192, p =.036). In mothers and fathers, the indirect effects of social support on postnatal depressive symptoms through parenting sense of competence were significant (β = -0.108, 95% CI [-0.202, -0.040]; β = -0.108, 95% CI [-0.241, -0.007]). Furthermore, the indirect effect of mothers' social support on fathers' postnatal depressive symptoms through fathers' parenting sense of competence was significant (β = -0.100, 95% CI [-0.196, -0.014]). Postnatal depressive symptoms in fathers should receive equal attention as those in mothers. There are dyadic interaction effects between mothers' and fathers' social support, parenting sense of competence, and postnatal depressive symptoms, therefore, developing couple-centered interventions is crucial. Parenting sense of competence mediated the relationship between social support and postnatal depressive symptoms; thus it is important to improve parenting sense of competence to reduce postnatal depressive symptoms during the early postpartum transition. Purpose: We assessed the effectiveness of "timing it right" (TIR) applications in patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer through a carefully designed TIR intervention program. The assessment in this study emphasized the impact of the TIR intervention on the unmet needs and psychological pain of patients with head and neck cancer at different stages of radiotherapy. Methods: In total, 140 radiotherapy patients were randomly recruited into two study groups: (1) the TIR intervention group received routine nursing follow-up and comprehensive nursing intervention based on TIR, and (2) the control group received routine nursing care. Assessments were conducted at baseline, before discharge, and 3 months and 6 months after discharge. The comprehensive needs and psychological pain of patients with radiotherapy were measured using the Comprehensive Needs Assessment Tool in Cancer for Patients (CNAT) and the Distress Thermometer (DT), respectively. A linear mixed model was applied to analyze the effects. Results: A total of 137 patients completed the study. Compared to the control group, the TIR group showed significant improvements in information needs, health and psychological problems, healthcare staff, physical symptoms, health facilities and services, religious/spiritual support, and psychological pain (F=8.503, p=0.004; F=1.896, p=0.003; F=12.422, p<0.001; F=9.634, p=0.001; F=7.310, p=0.006; F=1.684, p=0.009; F=1.692, p=0.041). In addition to practical support, the remaining indicators differed significantly by time point, group, and group-time interaction. Conclusions: The patient support application based on TIR can effectively address unmet needs and improve psychological pain, supporting TIR as an effective psychological management and intervention strategy for radiotherapy patients in the early stage of long-term rehabilitation. Objective: To assess the 5′ CpG island methylation of Fanconi anemia, complementation group F (FANCF) gene in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) tissues and normal ovarian tissues and to investigate the relationship between FANCF methylation and clinicopathologic features and prognosis of EOC. Methods: The experiment was performed with 112 EOC tissue samples (case group) and 60 normal ovarian tissues (control group). With methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP), FANCF methylation status of cases and controls was assessed. And the association between FANCF methylation and the clinicopathological features of EOC was investigated with univariate survival analysis and Cox regression model analysis. Results: The methylation-positive rate of the case group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P = 0.015). The FANCF promoter methylation rates showed significant differences in the comparisons stratified by age, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging, histopathological classification, and lymph node metastasis (all P < .05). Univariate survival analysis showed there were significant differences in mean survival time between the groups based on FIGO staging, histopathological classification, lymph node metastasis, and FANCF methylation (all P < .05). Cox regression model analysis suggested that FIGO staging and FANCF methylation were independent risk factors for EOC prognosis. Conclusion: CpG island methylation of FANCF gene promoter region is strongly associated with the susceptibility and clinicopathologic features of EOC.
