This paper investigates the problem of fixed-time synchronization of time-varying coupled competitive neural networks with impulsive effects. Synchronizing impulses and desynchronizing impulses are each taken into account. The innovative pure power-law control is designed in this paper to avoid vibratory behaviors, which is more straightforward and effective than the common design including the linear and power-law terms. Note that the key difficulty is determining how to ensure fixed-time synchronization and estimate the settling time in an impulsive sense since the impulsive influences may lead to the discontinuity of the states. However, the theoretical framework of fixed-time synchronization under desynchronizing impulses has not been constructed much in the existing literature, which deeply motivated us to contribute to this analysis. By using the average impulsive intervals method, graph theory, and the Lyapunov method, two cases of the settling time along with the fixed-time synchronization criteria regarding the synchronizing and desynchronizing impulses are given. To clarify the effect of plant spacing on the growth, yield formation, and quality of sugar beet taproot. We designed field experiments in 2021–2022, and sugar beet variety KWS1176 was used as experimental material, and 9 plant spacing treatments from 8 to 32 cm were set up. The morphological indicators, photosynthetic characteristics, and the nutrient contents were determined at the stages of the leafage growing period (V1), sugar increase period of taproot (V2), sugar accumulation period I of taproot (V3), and sugar accumulation period II of taproot (V4), and the root yield and quality parameters were measured at the harvest. The results showed that in the plant spacing treatments of 11 and 14 cm, sugar beet had a suitable canopy structure and space for taproot growing. The canopy photosynthetic activity was higher, which provided sufficient photosynthetic products for root growth, and appropriate root size could balance root growth and sucrose accumulation. The highest root yield and sugar content were also obtained in the treatment of 14 cm plant spacing. With the increase of plant spacing, the yield of sugar beet decreased, and the content of α-amino N, K+, and Na+ in the root increased, which had a disadvantageous influence on the processing quality of the root. It was found that the number of cambial rings and the average distance between cambial rings could be used as qualitative indicators of the sugar content of taproot and the processing quality. Immune response plays a crucial role in post-myocardial infarction (MI) myocardial remodeling. Neogenin (Neo1), a multifunctional transmembrane receptor, plays a critical role in the immune response; however, whether Neo1 participates in pathological myocardial remodeling after MI is unclear. Our study found that Neo1 expression changed significantly after MI in vivo and after LPS + IFN-γ stimulation in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) in vitro. Neo1 functional deficiency (using a neutralizing antibody) and macrophage-specific Neo1 deficiency (induced by Neo1flox/flox;Cx3cr1cre mice) increased infarction size, enhanced cardiac fibrosis and cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and exacerbated left ventricular dysfunction post-MI in mice. Mechanistically, Neo1 deficiency promoted macrophage infiltration into the ischemic myocardium and transformation to a proinflammatory phenotype, subsequently exacerbating the inflammatory response and impairing inflammation resolution post-MI. Neo1 deficiency regulated macrophage phenotype and function, possibly through the JAK1-STAT1 pathway, as confirmed in BMDMs in vitro. Blocking the JAK1-STAT1 pathway with fludarabine phosphate abolished the impact of Neo1 on macrophage phenotype and function, inflammatory response, inflammation resolution, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, cardiac fibrosis, infarction size and cardiac function. In conclusion, Neo1 deficiency aggravates inflammation and left ventricular remodeling post-MI by modulating macrophage phenotypes and functions via the JAK1-STAT1 signaling pathway. The comparable property (or inclusion property) is the basic property of rough set theory. Unfortunately, the well-known granular variable precision fuzzy rough set does not satisfy the comparable property. To remedy this gap, a novel granular variable precision fuzzy rough set model with comparable property is proposed and discussed. Firstly, by analyzing the existing granular precision fuzzy rough set models, we find the reason that they do not satisfy the comparable property. Then, we give a new granular precision fuzzy rough set model with the comparable property. Secondly, we study the basic properties, characterization theorem and accuracy measure of the new model. Thirdly, we apply the novel model in the study of fuzzy decision system. An attribute reduction method is developed, and the corresponding attribute reduction algorithm is designed. Finally, by using public accessible datasets, we make a series of experiments to verify the effectiveness and reliability of our method and make comparisons with some existing attribute reduction methods. Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of chemotherapy among intermediate-risk (stage II/T3N0) nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients receiving radiotherapy (RT). Methods: We identified stage II/T3N0 NPC patients who received radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database (2004–2019). Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were assessed using the Kaplan–Meier method with log-rank test and Cox proportional hazards models to evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy. Subgroup analysis was also conducted based on the baseline characteristics. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to balance the intergroup covariates. Results: A total of 1623 patients were enrolled in the study, 1444 received chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and 179 received RT alone. CRT, compared to RT alone, was independently associated with a better OS (HR 0.57, 95% CI 0.45–0.71) and CSS (HR 0.55, 95% CI 0.39–0.79). After PSM, similar results were obtained, and CRT was superior to RT alone in terms of OS (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.39–0.92) and CSS (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.40–0.91). Subgroup analysis revealed that OS benefits from CRT were mainly observed in T0-2N1(HR 0.51, 95% CI 0.38–0.70) and T3N0 (HR 0.64, 95% CI 0.42–0.98) rather than T2N0 (HR 1.00, 95% CI 0.51–1.94). Interestingly, after PSM, OS benefits were still seen in T0-2N1 (HR 0.44, 95% CI 0.24–0.82), while not seen in T2N0 (HR 1.83, 95% CI 0.56–5.97) and T3N0 (HR 0.56, 95% CI 0.28–1.12). Conclusion: For T0-2N1 NPC patients, CRT was superior to RT alone with better survival, whereas, for T2-3N0 patients, CRT was comparable to RT alone. Subduction of the Pacific slab has been widely credited for the destruction of the eastern North China Craton (NCC). However, the nature of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) beneath the central and western NCC is less well constrained, which has hindered the understanding of cratonic responses to repeated Phanerozoic circum-craton subductions. Here, we report the in situ major- and trace-element contents and Sr isotopic compositions of minerals from 27 peridotite xenoliths obtained from Cenozoic basalts from Xiyang‒Pingding, central NCC, to gain new insights into how plate subduction affected the Archean lithospheric keel. On the basis of olivine major-element and clinopyroxene trace-element contents, as well as clinopyroxene Sr isotopic compositions, we divide the xenoliths into four types. The high-Mg# types 1 and 2 peridotites show high olivine forsterite (Fo) contents, convex-upward rare-earth element patterns, and high 87Sr/86Sr (0.7053‒0.7062) in clinopyroxene, and they could be relicts of an old cratonic root. The high-Mg# type 3 peridotites exhibit high (La/Yb)N and low Ti/Eu and 87Sr/86Sr (0.7038‒0.7044), and they are interpreted as reaction products of Archean SCLM and carbonatitic melts from the asthenosphere with a contribution of recycled oceanic components. The low-Mg# type 4 peridotites display low 87Sr/86Sr (0.7029‒0.7033) and represent fragments of modified SCLM that has been recently refertilized by asthenospheric melts. Complex architectures of the SCLM underneath Xiyang‒Pingding reflect multistage overprinting of mantle metasomatism. Recent influxes of asthenospheric melts played a critical role in transforming refractory SCLM to fertile SCLM. Combined with previous studies, our findings suggest that the SCLM beneath the central NCC became progressively more refertilized from the center toward both the northern and southern margins, a spatial pattern that was likely generated by N‒S-trending subductions of the circum-craton plates. Electric fields can spontaneously decay via the Schwinger effect, the nucleation of a charged particle-anti particle pair separated by a critical distance d. What happens if the available distance is smaller than d? Previous work on this question has produced contradictory results. Here, we study the quantum evolution of electric fields when the field points in a compact direction with circumference L < d using the massive Schwinger model, quantum electrodynamics in one space dimension with massive charged fermions. We uncover a new and previously unknown set of instantons that result in novel physics that disagrees with all previous estimates. In parameter regimes where the field value can be well-defined in the quantum theory, generic initial fields E are in fact stable and do not decay, while initial values that are quantized in half-integer units of the charge E = (k/2)g with k ∈ ℤ oscillate in time from +(k/2)g to −(k/2)g, with exponentially small probability of ever taking any other value. We verify our results with four distinct techniques: numerically by measuring the decay directly in Lorentzian time on the lattice, numerically using the spectrum of the Hamiltonian, numerically and semi-analytically using the bosonized description of the Schwinger model, and analytically via our instanton estimate. In this paper, the issue of exponential synchronization of fractional-order multilayer coupled neural networks with reaction-diffusion terms is investigated by using periodically intermittent control. It deserves to mention that spatial diffusions, multilayer interactions and fractional dynamics are introduced to coupled neural networks at the same time. A novel fractional-order differential inequality is established on the basis of Caputo partial fractional operator. Moreover, to realize exponential synchronization of the underlying neural networks, some sufficient conditions are presented with the help of Lyapunov method and graph theory. Theoretical results show that the exponential convergence rate is dependent on the control gain and the order of fractional derivative. During her younger age, the ovarian function and the oocyte quality were better than the present state; there is possibility that few oocytes could mature and continually develop to the implantation process; however, the influence of the variant prohibit the further development of the embryo and finally lead to miscarriage. This paper mainly studied the observer design of Lipschitz stochastic discrete system. For the first time, generalized Lipschitz conditions are introduced into the observer design of a class of nonlinear stochastic discrete systems. From this paper, it can be seen that the generalized Lipschitz condition can better reflect the structural information of the nonlinear part, and thus has more advantages than the classical Lipschitz condition in the observer design. The stability criterion and observer design method of nonlinear stochastic discrete systems were proposed. Gene therapy is considered a potential treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Researchers have been working on this for many years to find effective therapeutic targets. Here, we found that MRTF-A (myocardin-related transcription factor A) could activate the transcription of L-type Ca2+-channel-related protein CACNA1S (calcium voltage-gated channel subunit alpha1 S) by binding to the CarG box in the promoter of CACNA1S. However, increased phosphorylation and decreased expression of MRTF-A were observed, along with the expression of CACNA1S reduced in mdx mice. Further, the decreased expression and increased phosphorylation of MRTF-A could inhibit the release of Ca2+ via CACNA1S. Background: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are a type of soft tissue sarcomas (STS) with recurrence and metastatic potential. We aimed to investigate the risk factors for developing distant metastases (DM) and to identify the prognostic factors in patients with DM. Methods: Based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Result (SEER) database, MPNST patients diagnosed between 2010 and 2016 were extracted in our study. The logistic regression model was performed for predicting DM development while the Cox proportional hazard regression model was conducted for revealing the prognostic factors. Results: Eventually, 764 patients diagnosed with MPNSTs were included with 109 cases presenting with metastases at initial diagnosis. Larger tumor size and lymph node metastases were independent risk factors for developing DM. The median overall survival (OS) for patients with metastases was 8.0 (95% CI: 6.1–9.9) months. Multiple metastatic sites and no surgical treatment were prognostic factors for worse survival. Tumors located in non-head and neck region were related with better survival. Conclusions: The incidence of DM was 14.3% with a dismal median OS of 8.0 months for metastatic MPNSTs. More evaluation should be applied for patients with large tumor size and lymph metastases. Tumors located in head and neck region and the presence of multiple metastases predicted worse survival outcome. Biomass from agriculture, forestry, and urban wastes is a potential renewable organic resource for energy generation. Many investigations have demonstrated that anaerobic fungi and methanogens could be co-cultured to degrade lignocellulose for methane generation. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of natural anaerobic fungi-methanogens co-culture on the methane production and lignocellulosic degradation of wastes from rice, corn and sugarcane. Hu sheep rumen digesta was used to develop a natural anaerobic fungi-methanogen co-culture. The substrates were rice straw (RS), rich husk (RH), corn stover (CS), corn cobs (CC), and sugarcane baggage (SB). Production of total gas and methane, metabolization rate of reducing sugar, glucose, and xylose, digestibility of hemicellulose and cellulose, activity of carboxymethylcellulase and xylanase, and concentrations of total acid and acetate were highest (P < 0.05) in CC, moderate (P < 0.05) in RS and CS, and lowest (P < 0.05) in SB and RH. The pH, lactate and ethanol were lowest (P < 0.05) in CC, moderate (P < 0.05) in RS and CS, and lowest (P < 0.05) SB and RH. Formate was lowest (P < 0.05) in CC, RS and CS, moderate (P < 0.05) in SB, and lowest (P < 0.05) in RH. Therefore, this study indicated that the potential of methane production and lignocellulosic degradation by natural anaerobic fungi-methanogens co-culture were highest in CC, moderate in RS and CS, and lowest in SB and RH. MHC class I-related chain A (MICA) is one of the major ligands for natural killer group 2 member D (NKG2D), which is an activating NK receptor. MICA is expressed on the surface of human epithelial tumor cells, and its shedding from tumor cells leads to immunosuppression. To activate immune response in the tumor microenvironment, we designed an anti-VEGFR2–MICA bispecific antibody (JZC01), consisting of MICA and an anti-VEGFR2 single chain antibody fragment (JZC00) and explored its potential anti-tumor activity. JZC01 targeted vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) and inhibited tumorigenesis by blocking the VEGFR2 signaling pathway. Additionally, JZC01 promoted NK and CD8+ T cells to release IFN-γ and engaged activated lymphocytes to lysis of VEGFR2-expressing tumor cells. The in vivo anti-tumor activity of JZC01 was investigated by establishing a Lewis lung cancer cell-transplanted mouse model. It effectively reduced the tumor vascular density and increased the infiltration and activation of NK and CD8+ T cells in the tumor microenvironment. Thus, JZC01 functions in anti-tumor angiogenesis and anti-tumor immune activation, and showed improved anti-tumor efficacy combined with docetaxel, which provides a new insight into anti-tumor therapy. Sesquiterpanes are ubiquitous components of crude oils and ancient sediments. Liquid saturated hydrocarbons from simulated pyrolysis experiments on immature organic-rich mudstone collected from the Lower Cretaceous Hesigewula Sag were analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). C14 bicyclic sesquiterpanes, namely, 8β(H)-drimane, 8β(H)-homodrimane, and 8α(H)-homodrimane were detected and identified on basis of their diagnostic fragment ions (m/z 123, 179, 193, and 207), and previously published mass spectra data, and these bicyclic sesquiterpanes presented relatively regular characteristics in their thermal evolution. The ratios 8β(H)-drimane/8β(H)-homodrimane, 8β(H)-homodrimane/8α(H)-homodrimane, and 8β(H)-drimane/8α(H)-homodrimane all show a clear upward trend with increasing temperature below the temperature turning point. Thus, all these ratios can be used as evolution indexes of source rocks in the immature–low-maturity stage. However, the last two ratios may be more suitable than the first ratio as valid parameters for measuring the extent of thermal evolution of organic matter in the immature–low-maturity stage because their change amplitude with increasing temperature is more obvious. An extremely halophilic archaeon, strain ZY8T, was isolated from a rock salt of Yunnan salt mine. It was able to grow at 12-30% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 15-20%), pH 7.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 8.5), and 20-45 °C (optimum, 42 °C). Sequence similarity search of its 16S rRNA gene showed that strain ZY8T belonged to the genus Halorubrum, and it is closely related to species of H. aethiopicum SAH-A6T (98.6%), H. aquaticum EN-2T (98.6%), and H. halodurans Cb34T (98.5%), respectively. Strain ZY8T contained phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester and phosphatidylglycerol sulfate as its major phospholipids, and a sulfated diglycosyl diether as its major glycolipid. The DNA G+C content was 66.7 mol%. DNA-DNA relatedness between strains ZY8T and closely related species were far below 70%. Based on the phenotypic and phylogenetic analyses, it is proposed that strain ZY8T represents a novel species of the genus Halorubrum, for which the name Halorubrum glutamatedens sp. nov. is proposed. We consider a communication scheduling problem that arises within wireless sensor networks, where data is accumulated by the sensors and transferred directly to a central base station. One may choose to compress the data collected by a sensor, to decrease the data size for transmission, but the cost of compression must be considered. The goal is to designate a subset of sensors to compress their collected data, and then to determine a data transmission order for all the sensors, such that the total compression cost is minimized subject to a bounded data transmission completion time (a.k.a. makespan). A recent result confirms the NP-hardness for this problem, even in the special case where data compression is free. Here we first design a pseudo-polynomial time exact algorithm, articulated within a dynamic programming scheme. This algorithm also solves a variant with the complementary optimization goal—to minimize the makespan while constraining the total compression cost within a given budget. Our second result consists of a bi-factor (1+ϵ,2)-approximation for the problem, where (1+ϵ) refers to the compression cost and 2 refers to the makespan, and a 2-approximation for the variant. Lastly, we apply a sparsing technique to the dynamic programming exact algorithm, to achieve a dual fully polynomial time approximation scheme for the problem and a usual fully polynomial time approximation scheme for the variant. In this work, the crystallization of immiscible polypropylene (PP)/polybutene-1 (PB) blends, in particular the effect of crystal morphology of PP (HTC, high Tm component) on the subsequent crystallization behavior of PB (LTC, low Tm component) was studied. Herein, we firstly indicated that PP/PB blends were not completely compatible but characterized as the LCST-like phase diagram above the melting temperature of PP. Crystallization of PP at different crystallization temperatures brought about different PP crystal morphologies and PB was segregated and confined at different locations. Much larger-sized domain of PB component appeared in PP spherulites resulting from the effects of non-negligible phase separation and the slower PP crystallization rate as PP crystallized at high temperature. As temperature continued to fall below Tm of PB, the fractionated and confined crystallization of PB occurred in the framework of PP spherulites, reflected by the decreased crystallization temperature (Tc) of PB and the formation of form I′ beside form II. Notably, if PP previously crystallized at high Tc, fractionated crystallization of PB became predominant and confined crystallization of PB became weak due to the much wider droplet-size distribution of PB domains. Stream temperature is an important control of many in-stream processes. There is rising concern about increases in stream temperature with projected climate changes and human-related water activities. Here, we investigate the responses to climate change and water diversions in Eel River basin. The increase in stream temperatures is considered to be the result of changes in air temperature, the proportion of base flow and the amount of stream flow derived from historical and future simulations using the integrated VIC hydrologic model and ANN stream temperature model. The results show that stream temperature will increase throughout the basin in the future under two climate change representative concentration pathways (RCPs 4.5 and 8.5) and will also be influenced by the water diversion activities schedules. Specifically, the stream temperature increases, in the late twenty-first century under RCP8.5 scenarios, from 1.20 to 2.40 °C in summer and from 0.58-3.46 °C in winter respectively; Water diversion activities in Eel River Basin can increase nearly 1 °C in stream temperature. Therefore, both climate change and water diversion activities can substantially cause the rise of more than 2 °C in stream temperature. In conclusion, stream temperature is mainly sensitive to the proportion of base flow in summer, but also the change of the amount of stream flow in winter in our case study area. In addition, it should be noted that the low intensity irrigation schedule has lower impacts on increasing stream temperature, whereas the high intensity irrigation schedule will further exacerbate the rise of stream temperature. Understanding the different impacts of climate change scenarios and irrigation schedules on stream temperature can help identify climate-sensitive regions, climate-sensitive seasons and water diversion schedules as well as assist in planning for climate change and social adaptive management. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) can only analyze volatile molecular compounds, and it has limitations when applied to determine the complex components of crude oils and hydrocarbon source rocks. Based on Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS) and GC/MS analyses, the molecular compositions of NSO compounds in extracts from the Permian Dalong Formation, Sichuan Basin and the Permian Lucaogou Formation, Junggar Basin in China were compared. Analyses of types of heteroatoms present (S1, S2, S3, OS, OS2, O2S, NS, and NOS compounds) suggest that marine shales from the Dalong Formation are mainly composed of carboxylic acids (O2 compounds) with a high abundance of fatty acids, indicating a marine phytoplankton organic source. However, lacustrine shales from the Lucaogou Formation are dominated by pyrrolic compounds (N1 compounds) with abundant dibenzocarbazole. It suggests that the organic source materials may be derived from lower aquatic organisms and lacustrine algae. Bag of Words (BoW) model and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are two milestones in visual recognition. Both BoW and CNN require a feature pooling operation for constructing the frameworks. Particularly, the max-pooling has been validated as an efficient and effective pooling method compared with other methods such as average pooling and stochastic pooling. In this paper, we first evaluate different pooling methods, and then propose a new feature pooling method termed as selective, discriminative and equalizing pooling (SDE). The SDE representation is a feature learning mechanism by jointly optimizing the pooled representations with the target of learning more selective, discriminative and equalizing features. We use bilevel optimization to solve the joint optimization problem. Experiments on seven benchmark datasets (including both single-label and multi-label ones) well validate the effectiveness of our framework. Particularly, we achieve the state-of-the-art fused results (mAP) of 93.21 and 93.97% on the PASCAL VOC2007 and VOC2012 datasets, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An adsorption-coagulation-microfiltration (A-C-MF) hybrid process using copper ferrocyanide (CuFC) as the adsorbent was developed in this study for the removal of cesium from water. The effect of coagulant on cesium removal by CuFC adsorption was investigated. A simpler calculation method for determining the CuFC dosage was established based on the Freundlich adsorption isotherms. Although the volume of treated water was 1.32 times higher for the A-C-MF process than the adsorption-microfiltration (A-MF) process, the cake layer and membrane pore resistances in the former were both lower than those in the latter due to the coagulation process. Transient receptor potential cation channel-6 (TRPC6) gene mutations cause familial focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), which is inherited as an autosomal dominant disease. In patients with TRPC6-related FSGS, all mutations map to the N- or C-terminal TRPC6 protein domains. Thus far, the majority of TRPC6 mutations are missense resulting in increased or decreased calcium influx; however, the fundamental molecular mechanisms causing cell injury and kidney pathology are unclear. We report a novel heterozygous TRPC6 mutation (V691Kfs*) in a large kindred with no signs of FSGS despite a largely truncated TRPC6 protein. We studied the molecular effects of V691Kfs* TRPC6 mutant using the tridimensional cryo-EM structure of the tetrameric TRPC6 protein. The results indicated that V691 is localized at the pore-forming transmembrane region affecting the ion conduction pathway, and predicted that V691Kfs* causes closure of the ion-conducting pathway leading to channel inactivation. We assessed the impact of V691Kfs* and two previously reported TRPC6 disease mutants (P112Q and G757D) on calcium influx in cells. Our data show that the V691Kfs* fully inactivated the TRCP6 channel-specific calcium influx consistent with a complete loss-of-function phenotype. Furthermore, the V691Kfs* truncation exerted a dominant negative effect on the full-length TRPC6 proteins. In conclusion, the V691Kfs* non-functional truncated TRPC6 is not sufficient to cause FSGS. Our data corroborate recently characterized TRPC6 loss-of-function and gain-of-function mutants suggesting that one defective TRPC6 gene copy is not sufficient to cause FSGS. To use copper ferrocyanide (CuFC) more efficiently in wastewater treatment, the method of isotope carrying used in Cs removal was investigated. A calculation model based on Freundlich isotherm was established to determine the optimum initial cesium concentration, at which the highest decontamination factor (DF) could be obtained at a certain CuFC dosage. An accurate DF prediction model was developed to describe synergistic effects of sodium and potassium. Plant microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in various developmental and physiological processes ( e.g. seed germination, vegetative growth, flowering, seed production, and responses to abiotic or biotic stimuli) by targeting mRNAs for cleavage or translational repression at the post-transcriptional level. Bamboo flowering is an unusual physiological phenomenon relative to the typical graminaceous plants. In this study, we focused on the microRNAome of developing Dendrocalamus latiflorus inflorescences. Solexa high-throughput small RNA (sRNA) sequencing technology was used to sequence and quantify the miRNAs expressed during two phases of D. latiflorus flower development. A total of 118 conserved miRNAs and 47 novel miRNAs was identified in the developing flowers. The transcript levels of most of the miRNAs were similar between the two phases. However, five miRNAs showed distinct changes as the flowering developed, with the novel miRNA dla-miR18 in particular showing a large difference in transcript abundance between the two phases. Fifteen of the D. latiflorus miRNAs found in this study appeared likely to be specific to flower development. Moreover, 130 of the floral unigenes of D. latiflorus were determined to be putative targets of the miRNAs, and the miRNA cleavage sites of seven of these putative targets were validated by 5′-RACE. The results of this study provide the first broad survey of the microRNAomes of Bambusoideae and yield valuable insights into the potential roles of microRNAs in bamboo inflorescence development. We examine vibrational energy transfer across the heme-protein and protein-solvent interfaces of cytochrome c, using, as appropriate, classical, semiclassical, and quantum approaches. To characterize energy flow across the interface between the heme and the rest of cytochrome c, we calculate communication maps for the protein in its native structure as well as two structures with Met80 dissociated from the heme at 300 K. The response to excess energy in the heme is mediated by covalent and hydrogen bonds to the heme, as well as several through-space interactions, including those involving the dissociated Met80. This observation suggests no energy flow bottleneck between the heme and Met80 that would impede rebinding kinetics at 300 K. We examine the possibility of additional bottlenecks to energy flow by calculating the temperature dependence of the ergodicity threshold in an imidazole-ligated Fe-porphyrin system that constitutes the core of the heme-histidine complex. The ergodic threshold, which we calculate quantum mechanically, corresponds to a temperature of about 140 K. We also address the flow of excess vibrational energy from the protein to the solvent. We calculate the thermal boundary conductance between cytochrome c and water semiclassically over a range of temperatures and find that the protein-water interface poses no greater resistance to thermal flow than the protein itself. Copy number variations (CNVs) recently have been recognized as an important source of genetic variability. Compelling evidence has indicated that CNVs are responsible for phenotypic traits by altering the copy numbers of functional genes. The molecule interacting with CasL-like protein 2 ( MICAL- L2) gene plays a critical role in muscle fiber development and has been identified in the CNV region by comparative genomic hybridization array. In the present study, we detected the different distributions of MICAL- L2 gene copy numbers in four Chinese cattle breeds (QC, NY, LX, and CY) and investigated the functional effects of MICAL- L2 CNVs on the gene’s expression level and the phenotypic traits in QC and NY cattle. The results showed that the copy number loss (relative to Angus cattle) was more frequent in CY than in the other breeds. The MICAL- L2 gene copy number presented a moderate negative correlation with the transcriptional expression in fetal skeletal muscles ( P < 0.05). Statistical analysis revealed that the MICAL- L2 CNVs were significantly associated with body weight, body height, and body length of NY cattle in the early stages (6 and 12 months old), and the copy number loss showed better traits than the gain and/or median groups ( P < 0.05). No significance was found at the late stages in QC (24 months old) and NY cattle (18 and 24 months old). These observations provided further insight into the associations between cattle CNVs and economic traits, suggesting that the CNVs may be considered promising markers for the molecular breeding of Chinese beef cattle. Two new flavonoids, 8,2′-diprenyl-3,5,7,5′-tetrahydroxyflavone (1) and 8-(1-methoxy-2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyl)naringenin (2), along with twelve known compounds (3–14), were isolated from the leaves of Macaranga pustulata. The structures of the new compounds 1 and 2 were established by detailed spectroscopic data analysis and ECD computational methods. The inhibitory effects of compounds 1–6 against NLRP3 inflammasome activation as well as the cytotoxic activities of compounds 1–4 against MCF-7 and HCT-116 cancer cell lines were investigated. This study provides proof of concept of a colorimetric biosensor for influenza H1N1 virus assay based on the CRISPR/Cas13a system and hybridization chain reaction (HCR). Target RNA of influenza H1N1 virus activated the trans-cleavage activity of Cas13a, which cleaved the special RNA sequence (-UUU-) of the probe, further initiating HCR to copiously generate G-rich DNA. Abundant G-quadruplex/hemin was formed in the presence of hemin, thus catalyzing a colorimetric reaction. The colorimetric biosensor exhibited a linear relationship from 10 pM to 100 nM. The detection limit was 0.152 pM. The biosensor specificity was excellent. This new and sensitive detection method for influenza virus is a promising rapid influenza diagnostic test. Circadian rhythms are oscillations in biological processes that function as a key adaptation to the daily rhythms of most environments. In the model cyanobacterial circadian clock system, the core oscillator proteins are encoded by the gene cluster kaiABC. Genes with high expression and functional importance, such as the kai genes, are usually encoded by optimal codons, yet the codon-usage bias of the kaiBC genes is not optimized for translational efficiency. We discovered a relationship between codon usage and a general property of circadian rhythms called conditionality; namely, that endogenous rhythmicity is robustly expressed under some environmental conditions but not others. Despite the generality of circadian conditionality, however, its molecular basis is unknown for any system. Here we show that in the cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongate, non-optimal codon usage was selected as a post-transcriptional mechanism to switch between circadian and non-circadian regulation of gene expression as an adaptive response to environmental conditions. When the kaiBC sequence was experimentally optimized to enhance expression of the KaiB and KaiC proteins, intrinsic rhythmicity was enhanced at cool temperatures that are experienced by this organism in its natural habitat. However, fitness at those temperatures was highest in cells in which the endogenous rhythms were suppressed at cool temperatures as compared with cells exhibiting high-amplitude rhythmicity. These results indicate natural selection against circadian systems in cyanobacteria that are intrinsically robust at cool temperatures. Modulation of circadian amplitude is therefore crucial to its adaptive significance. Moreover, these results show the direct effects of codon usage on a complex phenotype and organismal fitness. Our work also challenges the long-standing view of directional selection towards optimal codons, and provides a key example of natural selection against optimal codons to achieve adaptive responses to environmental changes. We propose a sensitive H1N1 virus fluorescence biosensor based on ligation-transcription and CRISPR/Cas13a-assisted cascade amplification strategies. Products are generated via the hybridization of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probes containing T7 promoter and crRNA templates to a target RNA sequence using SplintR ligase. This generates large crRNA quantities in the presence of T7 RNA polymerase. At such crRNA quantities, ternary Cas13a, crRNA, and activator complexes are successfully constructed and activate Cas13a to enhance fluorescence signal outputs. The biosensor sensitively and specifically monitored H1N1 viral RNA levels down to 3.23 pM and showed good linearity when H1N1 RNA concentrations were 100 pM–1 µM. Biosensor specificity was also excellent. Importantly, our biosensor may be used to detect other viral RNAs by altering the sequences of the two probe junctions, with potential applications for the clinical diagnosis of viruses and other biomedical studies. Genetic polymorphism is a difference in DNA sequence among individuals, groups, or populations that give rise to different forms. Differences in DNA sequences that occur naturally in a population. Single nucleotide substitutions, insertions and deletions of nucleotides and repetitive sequences (microsatellites) are all examples of polymorphism. The position at which such a sequence difference is found is a polymorphic site. A single nucleotide substitution is called a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). SNPs can occur in coding parts of the gene. If they result in genetic code change, amino-acid polymorphism would occur. The heterodimeric IFN-γ receptor ( IFNGR) complex was made up of two receptor subunits including IFNGR-1 and IFNGR-2. There exist five dbSNP alleles in IFNGR1 exon region and six dbSNP alleles in IFNGR2. Some researchers had found that the greatest risk of the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) be detected in the individuals who had the Met14/Val14 genotype or the combination of IFNGR1 Met14/Val14 genotype and IFNGR2 Gln64/Gln64 genotype in Japanese patients. So we aimed to assess the association between two polymorphisms within the IFNGR gene (A88G and A839G) and SLE in Chinese patients. This study included 154 patients with SLE and 159 unrelated healthy controls. We examined the IFNGR genotype by the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)-single-strand conformation polymorphism method, RT-PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism method and DNA sequencing. Genotype frequencies between SLE patients and controls were compared and relationship between genotype frequencies and clinical manifestations of SLE were evaluated. We found that IFNGR2 Arg64/Arg64 genotype decrease the risk of SLE (OR = 2.326, 95% CI 1.181–4.581, Fisher P = 0.015), and the same as IFNGR2 Arg64/Arg64 genotype and IFNGR1 Val14/Val14 genotype combination (OR = 2.420, 95% CI 1.206–4.854, Fisher P = 0.013). The allelic frequency of Val14/Met14 is significantly higher in the patients with oral ulcer or thrombocytopenia when compared with patient without these clinical feature (OR = 4.630, 95% CI 1.370–15.640, Fisher P = 0.021; or OR = 6.368, 95% CI 2.009–20.191, Fisher P = 0.003). On the contrary, the allelic frequency of Val14/Val14 is lower in the patients with oral ulcer or thrombocytopenia than those without these clinical feature (OR = 0.216, 95% CI 0.064–0.730, Fisher P = 0.021; or OR = 0.157, 95% CI 0.050–0.498, Fisher P = 0.003). And after data analysis, we also find that the allelic frequency of Gln64/Gln64 is lower in the patients with arthritis when compared with patient without arthritis (OR = 0.369, 95% CI 0.166–0.818, Fisher P = 0.017). We can conclude that the IFNGR polymorphisms (Val14Met and Gln64Arg) are protective in SLE in Chinese patients. ALI is characterized by macrophage-driven inflammation, causing severe lung damage. Currently, there are limited therapeutic options available for ALI. Liensinine (LIEN), with known anti-inflammatory properties, lacks extensive study in the ALI context. This study aimed to investigate the impact of LIEN on ALI and elucidate its molecular mechanisms. A total of thirty-six male BALB/c mice altogether were split into six groups: Control, LPS (10 mg/kg), Low (10 mg/kg LIEN + 10 mg/kg LPS), Middle (20 mg/kg LIEN + 10 mg/kg LPS), High (40 mg/kg LIEN + 10 mg/kg LPS), and DEX (2 mg/kg DEX + 10 mg/kg LPS). Lung tissue injury, pulmonary edema, and inflammatory factor levels were evaluated in lung tissues and LPS-stimulated bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM). TAK1 activation, TRAF6 ubiquitination, and their interactions were assessed to understand the involved molecular mechanisms. LIEN treatment ameliorated lung tissue injury and suppressed LPS-induced inflammatory factor levels in lung tissues and BMDM. Mechanistically, LIEN inhibited TAK1 activation by disrupting TRAF6–TAK1 interactions, limiting p65's nuclear translocation, and reducing the release of inflammatory factors. According to network pharmacology and molecular docking, LIEN most likely prevents inflammation by interfering directly with the Src. Overexpression of Src in BMDM abolished the regulation of TRAF6 by LIEN, supporting the involvement of the Src/TRAF6/TAK1 axis in its mechanism of action. Based on this study, LIEN treats ALI by modifying the Src/TRAF6/TAK1 axis and blocking the activation of the NF-κB pathway, regulating the release of inflammatory factors. Fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) poses a significant public health risk due to its association with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Given the limited availability of PM 2.5 monitoring stations, there is a pressing need for reliable real-time forecasting models. This study introduces TSPPM25, a novel Transformer-based model designed for spatiotemporal prediction of PM 2.5 levels. TSPPM25 leverages multiple data embedding techniques and various attention layers to effectively capture the intricate spatiotemporal relationships in multivariate data. The model's performance is evaluated using a California Aerosol Optical Depth PM 2.5 dataset and compared with several baseline models, including LSTM, Bi-LSTM, Linear Regression, and basic heuristics models. The results demonstrate that TSPPM25 exhibits superior spatiotemporal learning capabilities, robustness, and stability, outperforming other models across MSE, MAE, and SMAPE metrics. Furthermore, the study explores the underlying patterns in PM 2.5 data through harmonic analysis, revealing that TSPPM25 performs exceptionally well even in complex scenarios characterized by mixed wave patterns. Conclusively, TSPPM25 emerges as a valuable tool for predicting PM 2.5 levels demonstrating its efficacy in the California region, and thereby contributing significantly to the field of air quality forecasting. Mobile web-based augmented reality (MWAR) provides users with quick richer information interaction forms due to its convenience and universality. However, the 3D model data service for MWAR is a type of centralized file-based data service, which cannot simultaneously meet diverse user and response delay requirements in large-scale and complex applications. This affects the application and promotion of large-scale and complex MWAR application. To this end, this paper proposes a collaborative model data computing service framework (CMCSF) for MWAR between Mobile Edge Servers (MES), Cloud Servers (CS), and mobile devices. The main contributions of this paper include: (1) The CMCSF converts the file-based 3D model data service in MWAR to a computing-based and interfaced data service to meet the diverse service requirements of users; (2) The CMCSF establishes a collaborative computing model data service between the MES and the CS, and it computes a control and deployment strategy for the collaborative computing model data service in order to reduce the response delay of 3D model data; and (3) The CMCSF optimizes the loading method of the WebGL engine (for example, three.js) and applies the asynchronous loading method of the JSON interface data on the http protocol for browsers to get persistent model data services. Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide, with a high mortality rate and unfavorable prognosis. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is a key regulator of tumour growth, metastasis, and the response to chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immune response. It acts via responding to misfolded proteins and triggering abnormal activation of ER stress sensors and downstream signalling pathways. Notably, the expression patterns of ER-stress-related-genes (ERSRGs) are indicative of survival outcomes, especially in the context of immune infiltration. Through consensus clustering of prognosis-associated ERSRGs, we delineated two distinct LUAD subtypes: Cluster 1 and Cluster 2. Comprehensive analyses revealed significant disparities between these subtypes in terms of prognosis, immune cell infiltration, and tumor progression. Leveraging the robustness of LASSO regression and Multivariate stepwise regression, we constructed and validated an ER Stress-associated risk signature for LUAD. This signature underwent assessments for its prognostic value, correlation with clinical attributes, and interaction within the tumour immune microenvironment. By integrating this signature with multivariate cox analysis of distinct pathological stages, we devised an enhanced nomogram, validated through various statistical metrics, with an area under the curve for overall survival at 1, 3, and 5 years post-diagnosis being 0.79, 0.80, and 0.81, respectively. In conclusion, our findings introduce a composite signature of 11 pivotal ERSRGs, holding promise as a potent prognostic tool for LUAD, and offering insights for immunotherapeutic and targeted intervention strategies. Existing methods for arbitrary shaped text spotting can be divided into two categories: bottom-up methods detect and recognize local areas of text, and then group them into text lines or words; top-down methods detect text regions of interest, then apply polygon fitting and text recognition to the detected regions. In this paper, we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of these two methods, and propose a novel text spotter by fusing bottom-up and top-down processing. To detect text of arbitrary shapes, we employ a bottom-up detector to describe text with a series of rotated squares, and design a top-down detector to represent the region of interest with a minimum enclosing rotated rectangle. Then the text boundary is determined by fusing the outputs of two detectors. To connect arbitrary shaped text detection and recognition, we propose a differentiable operator named RoISlide, which can extract features for arbitrary text regions from whole image feature maps. Based on the extracted features through RoISlide, a CNN and CTC based text recognizer is introduced to make the framework free from character-level annotations. To improve the robustness against scale variance, we further propose a residual dual scale spotting mechanism, where two spotters work on different feature levels, and the high-level spotter is based on residuals of the low-level spotter. Our method has achieved state-of-the-art performance on four English datasets and one Chinese dataset, including both arbitrary shaped and oriented texts. Selective oxidation is one of the most important and challenging transformations in both academic research and chemical industry. Recently, a highly selective and efficient way to synthesize biologically active γ-hydroxy-α,β-unsaturated molecules from Cu-catalyzed vinylogous aerobic oxidation of α,β- and β,γ-unsaturated compounds has been developed. However, the detailed reaction mechanism remains elusive. Herein, we report a density functional theory study on this Cu-catalyzed vinylogous aerobic oxidation of γ,γ-disubstituted α,β- and β,γ-unsaturated isomers. Our computational study unveils detailed mechanism for each elementary step, i.e. deprotonation, O2 activation, and reduction. Besides, the origin of regioselectivity, divergent reactivities of substrates as well as reducing agents, and the byproduct generation have also been investigated. Notably, the copper catalyst retains the + 2 oxidation state through the whole catalytic cycle and plays essential roles in multiple steps. Despite some interesting results from different research groups, a public database for Uyghur online handwriting recognition and a baseline study are not yet available for comparison purpose. In order to fill this void, we present a database of Uyghur online handwritten words and carry out the first benchmark experiments using it. This database contains 125,020 samples of 2030 words collected from 393 writers. According to Uyghur lexicon characteristics, two out-of-vocabulary datasets are especially provided for evaluation. We carry out some unconstrained handwritten word recognition experiments on the database using recurrent neural networks as base model. Recognition results are acquired using connectionist temporal classification without lexicon search and external language model. Concatenated and averaged bidirectional recurrent layers are compared for better generalization. Based on Uyghur unicode representation, we are interested in comparing the models using different alphabets, based both on character types and character forms. To improve generalization, we propose 1D convolutional model which implements 1D convolutional layers for sequence feature extraction. In our experiments, the proposed 1D convolutional model and its variations surpassed the base recurrent layered model on the out-of-vocabulary words by clear margin. 83.23% CAR (character accurate rate) was resulted when out-of-vocabulary samples are used for testing. The highest recognition rate is as high as 94.95% CAR when the test set shares the same lexicon to the training set. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of clinicopathological characteristics and computed tomography (CT) morphological features in predicting lymph node metastasis (LNM) for patients with T1 colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: A total of 144 patients with T1 CRC who underwent CT scans and surgical resection were retrospectively included in our study. The clinicopathological characteristics and CT morphological features were assessed by two observers. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were used to identify significant LNM predictive variables. Then a model was developed using the independent predictive factors. The predictive model was subjected to bootstrapping validation (1000 bootstrap resamples) to calculate the calibration curve and relative C-index. Results: LNM were found in 30/144 patients (20.83%). Four independent risk factors were determined in the multiple logistic regression analysis, including presence of necrosis (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 10.32, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.96–54.3, p = 0.004), irregular outer border (adjusted OR = 5.94, 95% CI 1.39–25.45, p = 0.035), and heterogeneity enhancement (adjusted OR = 7.35, 95% CI 3.11–17.38, p = 0.007), as well as tumor location (adjusted ORright-sided colon = 0.05 [0.01–0.60], p = 0.018; adjusted ORrectum = 0.22 [0.06–0.83], p = 0.026). In the internal validation cohort, the model showed good calibration and good discrimination with a C-index of 0.89. Conclusions: There are significant associations between lymphatic metastasis status and tumor location as well as CT morphologic features in T1 CRC, which could help the doctor make decisions for additional surgery after endoscopic resection. Previous studies have demonstrated that bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) play important roles in cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, artery calcification, myocardial remodeling, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and diabetic cardiomyopathy. Kielin/chordin-like protein (KCP) is a secreted protein that regulates the expression and function of BMPs. However, the role of KCP in cardiac aging remains unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of KCP in cardiac aging and its possible mechanisms. Echocardiogram showed that heart function was impaired in aged mice (24 months). In addition, analysis of heart structure showed that KCP knockout (KO) aggravated cardiac remodeling in aged mice. Moreover, KCP KO increased p-smad2/3 and TGF-β expression, while decreased BMP-2 expression in aged mice. Furthermore, KCP KO increased the expression of cardiac senescence-related proteins in aged mice. KCP KO aggravated the imbalance of oxidants and antioxidants and increased the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in aged mice. Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute, systemic vasculitis and occurs mainly in childhood. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine synthesized predominantly by neutrophils and monocytes/macrophages and plays an important role in systemic inflammatory disease. However, a little information is currently available on the relationship of serum IL-6 with conventional inflammatory mediators, clinical classification, IVIG response and coronary artery aneurysm (CAA). 165 Chinese children with KD were enrolled and divided into six subgroups, including complete KD, incomplete KD, IVIG-responsive KD, IVIG-nonresponsive KD, coronary artery noninvolvement KD and coronary artery involvement KD. Blood samples were collected from all subjects within 24-h pre- and 48-h post-IVIG therapy, respectively. Serum IL-6 and conventional inflammatory mediators were detected. (1) Serum IL-6 markedly increased in the acute phase of KD, whereas declined to normal after IVIG therapy; it was positively correlated with C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. (2) Serum IL-6 was significantly elevated in patients with incomplete KD when compared with their complete counterparts. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) value for serum IL-6 in prediction of incomplete KD was 0.596, and the estimated sensitivity and specificity were 77.80% and 54.40% with a cutoff of IL-6 > 13.25 pg/ml, respectively. (3) Serum IL-6 was significantly elevated in patients with IVIG-nonresponsive KD when compared with their IVIG-responsive counterparts; the AUC value for serum IL-6 in prediction of IVIG-nonresponsive KD was 0.580, and the estimated sensitivity and specificity were 60.00% and 66.30% with a cutoff of IL-6 > 26.40 pg/ml, respectively. (4) No significant differences in IL-6 were found between KD patients with and without CAA. An association between type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and gut microbiota is well established, but the results of related studies are inconsistent. The purpose of this investigation is to elucidate the characteristics of the gut microbiota in T2DM and non-diabetic subjects. Forty-five subjects were recruited for this study, including 29 T2DM patients and 16 non-diabetic subjects. Biochemical parameters, including body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), serum total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), were analyzed and correlated with the gut microbiota. Bacterial community composition and diversity were detected in fecal samples using direct smear, sequencing, and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In this study, it was observed that indicators such as BMI, FPG, HbA1c, TC, and TG in T2DM patients were on the rise, concurrent with dysbiosis of the microbiota. We observed an increase in Enterococci and a decrease in Bacteroides, Bifidobacteria, and Lactobacilli in patients with T2DM. Meanwhile, total short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and D-lactate concentrations were decreased in the T2DM group. In addition, FPG was positively correlated with Enterococcus and negatively correlated with Bifidobacteria, Bacteroides, and Lactobacilli. This study reveals that microbiota dysbiosis is associated with disease severity in patients with T2DM. Purpose: To investigate the potential of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) for evaluating the severity of tubular atrophy/interstitial fibrosis (TA/IF) in immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) patients.Materials and methods: A total of 80 patients with IgAN and 33 healthy adults were investigated. Patients were divided into three groups according to the TA/IF (T) grade of the Oxford classification: T0 (n = 28), T1 (n = 35), and T2 (n = 17). Patients and control subjects underwent conventional ultrasound (US) and CEUS. Time-intensity curves of CEUS were drawn for regions of interest located in the renal cortex and medulla using QLab software. Conventional US and CEUS quantitative parameters were analyzed. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), binary logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used.Results: There were no significant differences in renal size, cortical thickness, and medullary perfusion parameters (P > 0.05), whereas the differences in peak intensity (PI), area under the time-intensity curve (AUC) and wash-in slope (WIS) of cortical perfusion parameters between the control subjects and patients were significant (P < 0.05). PI was significantly lower with the increasing degree of T (P < 0.05). PI was associated independently with the degree of T in IgAN patients (P < 0.05). ROC analysis revealed that using the optimal cutoff values of 15.38 dB for diagnosis of T0-T1 (sensitivity 83.30% and specificity 63.00%) and 14.69 dB for diagnosis of T2 (sensitivity 100.00% and specificity 66.70%), the corresponding areas under the ROC curve were found to be 0.782 and 0.952, respectively.Conclusions: CEUS can potentially be used as a noninvasive imaging marker to evaluate the severity of TA/IF in IgAN patients. A non-motile, pleomorphic rod-shaped or oval, red-pigmented (nearly scarlet), extremely halophilic archaeon, strain Y78T, was isolated from a salt deposit of Yunnan salt mine, China. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that it was phylogenetically related to species of the genus Halorubrum, with a close relationship to Halorubrum rutilum YJ-18-S1T (98.6%), Halorubrum yunnanense Q85T (98.3%), and Halorubrum lipolyticum 9-3T (98.1%). The temperature, NaCl, and pH ranges for growth were 25-50 °C, 12-30% (w/v), and 6.5-9.0, respectively. Mg2+ was required for growth. The polar lipids of strain Y78T were phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester, phosphatidylglycerol sulfate, and a sulfated diglycosyl diether. The DNA G+C content was 66.6 mol%. DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain Y78T and two closely related species of the genus Halorubrum were far below 70%. Based on the data presented in this study, strain Y78T represents a novel species for which the name Halorubrum depositum sp. nov. is proposed; the type strain is Y78T (= CGMCC 1.15456T = JCM 31272T). Biological control using entomopathogenic fungi is a promising alternative to the chemical control of locusts. The current study collected many trains of Beauveria bassiana and tested their suitablility for migratory locust management. Twenty fungal stains were isolated from the soil (collected from three different climatic zones in China) using the Galleria mellonella bait protocol. The phylogenetic analysis of the collected fungal strains based on ITS1 and ITS4 sequences revealed that they all belonged to B. bassiana. The results of pathogenicity testing against the third nymphal instar of Locusta migratoria showed that eight strains were highly pathogenic, causing 100% mortality within 10 days of treatment. The LC50 values of the strains B. bassiana BJ (BbBJ), B. bassiana ZJ1(BbZJ1), and B. bassiana HN1 (BbHN1) were 2.27 × 105, 0.16 × 105 and 1.02 × 105 conidia/mL, respectively indicating the lowest LC50 values for strains collected from Beijing, Zhejiang, and Hainan, respectively. The LT50 values for fourth and fifth instar larvae and the horizontal transmission ability of strain BbZJ1 were 4.62 days, 8.69 days and 91.7% respectively proving to be the best among the three selected strains. In addition, analysis of virulence factors of the three regionally best strains showed that BbZJ1 had the highest germination rate, fastest growth (by 7.06 mm day−1), produced the most conidia (16.03 × 106 conidia mm−2), had higher protease activity, and a hydrophobicity value of 97.31%. BbZJ1 strain has an excellent pathogenicity against local migratory locust, and has the potential for developing fungal biopesticide for controlling local locusts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Understanding the phase transformation and failure mechanism of NiTi shape memory alloys under variable environments of high and low temperatures is critical to the establishment of constitutive properties and to the realization of controllable design. Information regarding the correlation between the phase transformation and deformation can be obtained by in situ neutron scattering measurements. Therefore, a variable temperature mechanical loading device is designed, which can be used for mechanical loading and in situ neutron scattering measurements in a variable temperature environment. Specifically, the device can achieve precise temperature control with a temperature change from −55 °C to 200 °C in a protective atmosphere. The rated load in the axial direction is 6 kN, and the maximum displacement of the unilateral grip is larger than 30 mm. In situ neutron scattering measurements can be performed through neutron windows, and the strain can be measured by digital image correlation technology. Moreover, the force sensor is calibrated to improve test precision. Through an evaluation of temperature uncertainty, the temperature measurement performance is estimated. Tensile tests of the NiTi alloy at variable temperatures are carried out, and preliminary results are given. The four deformation stages of the NiTi alloy can be seen from the stressstrain curve, which corresponds to the existing results. This demonstrates that the designed variable temperature mechanical loading device can supply the testing demands. NASICON-type material Na1+xZr2SixP3−xO12 (0 ≤ x ≤ 3) is considered to be one of the most promising solid-state electrolytes that can be applied in all-solid-state sodium batteries (SSNBs). However, further increasing the ionic conductivity of Na1+xZr2SixP3−xO12 (0 ≤ x ≤ 3) to obtain higher performance electrolyte materials is still a challenge for its practical application. Herein, the Na3.4Zr2Si2.4P0.6O12 (NZSP) powder is prepared by the solution-assisted solid-state reaction (SA-SSR), and solid-state electrolytes with excellent electrochemical properties are obtained by doping with NaF as a sintering aid. With the increase of NaF doping, the crystal structure of NZSP is changed as well as a slight excess of Na+ may increase the bottleneck size of the crystal, so that it enhances the migration ability of Na+ in the crystal. Also, NaF as a sintering aid lowers the sintering temperature, increases the densities and improves the effective contact between crystals, which reduces the grain boundary impedance of NZSP. However, the excessive NaF dopant leads to the generation of microcracks decreasing the Na+ conducting and mechanical properties of solid-state electrolytes. Using this simple and low-cost strategy of NaF doping, NZSP-0.3NaF achieves an excellent conductivity of 4.98 mS cm−1 with unexpectedly low activation energy of 0.227 eV. Therefore, this composition is one of the few electrolytes with high conductivity reported so far and is a competitive option for solid-state sodium batteries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
