This work reports on the synthesis of a unique nickel oxide/carboxylated reduced graphene oxide (NiO/c-rGO) nanocomposites electrochemical sensor for the detection of quercetin (QCT). The successful integration of NiO nanoparticles into the c-rGO matrix was confirmed by the characterization and synthesis of both the NiO nanoparticles and c-rGO. After that, the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was treated with the NiO/c-rGO nanocomposite, which produced a modified GCE with improved electrochemical characteristics. The NiO/c-rGO modified GCE showed a wide linear-range of 0.5 to 750 µM and a low detection limit of 0.016 µM, indicating high sensitivity towards QCT. Additionally, the sensor exhibited excellent selectivity, with very little interference from examined kinds of analytes, both organic and inorganic. Additionally, the sensor's long-term stability was demonstrated by its steady redox reaction to QCT, with a sensitivity of roughly 96.68% over a 33-day period. The suggested sensor's use was evaluated by measuring differential pulse voltammetry on real samples, including onions, apple juice, honey, and green tea. These samples' QCT recovery rates, which varied from 96.00 to 99.40%, showed the precision, dependability, and potency of the suggested sensor. Based on these results, the NiO/c-rGO nanocomposite may be a great material to use in the creation of stable, highly sensitive, and selective electrochemical sensors for QCT detection. Recent advances in computer vision and deep learning techniques have facilitated significant progress in video scene understanding, thus helping film and television practitioners achieve accurate video editing. However, so far, publicly available semantic segmentation datasets are mostly limited to indoor scenes, city streets, and natural images, often ignoring example objects in action movies, which is a research gap that needs to be urgently filled. In this paper, we introduce a large-scale, high-precision semantic segmentation dataset of props in Chinese martial arts movie clips, named ChineseMPD. Specifically, this dataset first establishes segmentation rules and general review criteria for audiovisual data, and then provides semantic segmentation annotations for six weapon props (Gun, Sword, Stick, Knife, Hook, and Arrow) with a summary of 32,992 objects.To the best of our knowledge, this dataset is the largest semantic segmentation dataset for movie props to date. This study uses a modified electrode made of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) and Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) to provide a unique method for the extraction and electrochemical detection of cyanidin in berry fruits. The special pairing of MIPs with MWCNTs improves the sensors' sensitivity and selectivity, allowing for accurate cyanidin detection and quantification. The electropolymerization procedure was used to create the electrode, and TEM, XRD, and Raman studies were used to confirm its structure. Using Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV), the electrochemical response of the MIP/MWCNTs/GCE sensor was investigated. With a detection limit of 0.14 mg/mL, the sensor showed a linear range of 0.5 mg/mL to 242 mg/mL, demonstrating good sensitivity and adaptability. Real samples (berry fruits, human urine, and tap water) were used to further validate the sensor's performance, and the results revealed a strong correlation with the UPLC technique. The DPV approach showed excellent accuracy and suitability with low relative standard deviation values (less than 4.66%) and adequate recovery values (97.00–99.50%). Excellent selectivity, repeatability, and stability characterize the suggested MIP/MWCNTs/GCE sensor, which makes it a viable instrument for real-world uses in the food and environmental industries. Prime editing allows precise installation of any single base substitution and small insertions and deletions without requiring homologous recombination or double-strand DNA breaks in eukaryotic cells. However, the applications in bacteria are hindered and the underlying mechanisms that impede efficient prime editing remain enigmatic. Here, we report the determination of vital cellular factors that affect prime editing in bacteria. Genetic screening of 129 Escherichia coli transposon mutants identified sbcB, a 3ʹ→5ʹ DNA exonuclease, as a key genetic determinant in impeding prime editing in E. coli, combinational deletions of which with two additional 3ʹ→5ʹ DNA exonucleases, xseA and exoX, drastically enhanced the prime editing efficiency by up to 100-fold. Efficient prime editing in wild-type E. coli can be achieved by simultaneously inhibiting the DNA exonucleases via CRISPRi. Our results pave the way for versatile applications of prime editing for bacterial genome engineering. Prime editing in bacteria is currently inefficient. Craniofacial microsomia (CFM; also known as Goldenhar syndrome), is a craniofacial developmental disorder of variable expressivity and severity with a recognizable set of abnormalities. These birth defects are associated with structures derived from the first and second pharyngeal arches, can occur unilaterally and include ear dysplasia, microtia, preauricular tags and pits, facial asymmetry and other malformations. The inheritance pattern is controversial, and the molecular etiology of this syndrome is largely unknown. A total of 670 patients belonging to unrelated pedigrees with European and Chinese ancestry with CFM, are investigated. We identify 18 likely pathogenic variants in 21 probands (3.1%) in FOXI3. Biochemical experiments on transcriptional activity and subcellular localization of the likely pathogenic FOXI3 variants, and knock-in mouse studies strongly support the involvement of FOXI3 in CFM. Our findings indicate autosomal dominant inheritance with reduced penetrance, and/or autosomal recessive inheritance. The phenotypic expression of the FOXI3 variants is variable. The penetrance of the likely pathogenic variants in the seemingly dominant form is reduced, since a considerable number of such variants in affected individuals were inherited from non-affected parents. Here we provide suggestive evidence that common variation in the FOXI3 allele in trans with the pathogenic variant could modify the phenotypic severity and accounts for the incomplete penetrance. Most cases of craniofacial microsomia are sporadic but familial cases have been reported. Thrombotic cerebro-cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. However, current drug therapeutics are compromised by narrow therapeutic windows, unsatisfactory thrombolysis effects, severe bleeding events, and high recurrence rates. In this study, we exploit a self-propelling nano-penetrator with high fuel loading and controllable motion features, which is molecularly co-assembled using a photothermal photosensitizer (DiR) and a photothermal-activable NO donor (BNN6). The precisely engineered nano-penetrator of the BNN6-DiR fuel pair shows distinct advantages in terms of NO productivity and autonomous motion under laser irradiation. In animal models of artery/vein thrombosis and acute ischemic stroke, the self‐fueled nano-penetrator enables self-navigated thrombus-homing accumulation, self-propelled clot deep penetration, fluorescence image-guided photothermal/mechanical thrombolysis, and NO-mediated prevention of thrombosis recurrence and acute ischemic stroke salvage. As expected, the molecularly self-fueled nano-penetrator displayed favorable therapeutic outcomes without bleeding risk compared to the clinically available thrombolytic drug. This study offers a facile, safe, and effective nonpharmaceutical modality towards the clinical treatment of thrombosis and ischemic stroke. The Feynman-Kac formula provides a way to understand solutions to elliptic partial differential equations in terms of expectations of continuous time Markov processes. This connection allows for the creation of numerical schemes for solutions based on samples of these Markov processes which have advantages over traditional numerical methods in some cases. However, naïve numerical implementations suffer from issues related to statistical bias and sampling efficiency. We present methods to discretize the stochastic process appearing in the Feynman-Kac formula that reduce the bias of the numerical scheme. Semi-closed supercritical CO2 (sCO2) gas turbine is a promising candidate for the next generation power cycles with high efficiency and almost 100% carbon capture. In this study, the multicomponent effects on the sCO2 systems are investigated. A real-fluid modeling framework based on the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) theory is implemented to predict the phase boundary and real mixture critical point, and to capture the phase separation in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. A novel VLE-based tabulation method is developed to make the CFD solver computationally more affordable. VLE-based thermodynamic analyses show that a small amount of combustion-relevant impurities (e.g., H 2 O , CH 4 , and O 2 ) can significantly elevate the mixture critical point of the sCO 2 systems. As a result, the so-called "supercritical" CO 2 systems might be in the subcritical two-phase zone where phase separation occurs. At the relevant conditions in this study (100–300 bar), phase separation only has a small influence on the CO 2 / H 2 O / CH 4 / O 2 mixture density, but has a considerable influence on the heat capacity of the mixture. VLE-based CFD simulation of a laminar premixed sCO 2 shock tube shows that expansion waves can trigger significant condensation in the systems and the latent heat of the condensation can change the temperature and density fields in the systems. To understand the phase separation during mixing, VLE-based large-eddy simulations (LES) of turbulent jet-in-crossflows in the sCO 2 systems are conducted, and the results show that when two subcritical gas or supercritical gas-like streams mix, the mixture can partially condense to subcritical liquid phase. Here, we report the discovery and molecular characterization of a novel mitovirus isolated from tissues of Lagenaria siceraria, named "Lagenaria siceraria associated mitovirus 1" (LsaMV1). Next-generation sequencing and adapter-ligation-mediated amplification were used to obtain the full-length genome sequence of LsaMV1. The genome of LsaMV1 is 3,098 nucleotides (nt) long and contains an opening reading frame (ORF) encoding a putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRP). Homology searches and phylogenetic analysis of the 855-aa RdRP suggested that LsaMV1 is a member of a new species in the family Mitoviridae. Purpose of review: Enchondroma is a common cartilage benign tumor that develops from dysregulation of chondrocyte terminal differentiation during growth plate development. Here we provide an overview of recent progress in understanding causative mutations for enchondroma, dysregulated signaling and metabolic pathways in enchondroma, and the progression from enchondroma to malignant chondrosarcoma. Recent findings: Several signaling pathways that regulate chondrocyte differentiation are dysregulated in enchondromas. Somatic mutations in the metabolic enzymes isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 (IDH1/2) are the most common findings in enchondromas. Mechanisms including metabolic regulation, epigenetic regulation, and altered signaling pathways play a role in enchondroma formation and progression. Summary: Multiple pathways regulate growth plate development in a coordinated manner. Although 3D frameworks as collectors have been proved to improve the electrochemical performance of lithium metal anodes, the development of lithiophilic frameworks to form a compact anode is still desired. Hence, we developed lithiophilic carbon felt by decorating with metallic oxides (e.g. ZnO, NiO, Co3O4, Fe2O3, CuO) using a facile dipping method to improve lithiophilicity that can spontaneously infuse molten lithium into the frameworks. The formed composite anode possessed superior advantages and can uniform lithium nuclear. Thus, the composite anode delivered enhanced cycling performance under 10 mA cm−2 for 1 mAh cm−2 for 500 cycles and even under 10 mA cm−2 for 2 mAh cm−2 for 500 cycles. The assembled full cell coupled with LiFePO4 also exhibited excellent cycling performance and lower polarization. The Tuolai Group dominates the Central Qilian Terrane, and there are different opinions on the age and tectonic attribute of the Tuolai Group. Based on large-scale geologic mapping and zircon dating, the Tuolai Group is divided into four parts: metamorphic supracrustal rocks, Neoproterozoic acid intrusive rocks, early–middle Ordovician acid intrusive rocks and middle Ordovician basic intrusive rocks. The metamorphic supracrustal rocks are the redefined Tuolai complex-group and include gneiss and schist assemblage by faulting contact. Zircon U–Pb LA-MC-ICP-MS dating was conducted on these samples of gneiss and migmatite from the gneiss assemblage, quartzite, two-mica schist and slate from the schist assemblage. The five detrital samples possess similar age spectra; have detrital zircon U–Pb main peak ages of 1.7 Ga with youngest U–Pb ages of ~1150 Ma. They are intruded by Neoproterozoic acid intrusive rocks. Therefore, the Tuolai Group belonging to late Mesoproterozoic and early Neoproterozoic. With this caveat in mind, we believe that U–Pb detrital zircon dating, together with the geologic constraints obtained from this study and early work in the neighboring regions. We suggest that the formation age of the entire crystalline basement rocks of metasedimentary sequence from the Central Qilian Terrane should be constrained between the Late Mesoproterozoic and the Late Neoproterozoic, but not the previous Paleoproterozoic. Two intense rainfalls [Hurricane Joaquin (2015) and Hurricane Matthew (2016)], one year apart, provided a unique opportunity to examine changes in dissolved organic matter (DOM) dynamics in coastal blackwater rivers under extreme flooding conditions in the southeastern United States. Two sites along Waccamaw River (a coastal blackwater river) and the outflow of 18 sub-basins of Yadkin-Pee Dee Basin were sampled during and after the flooding events. The peaks of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and nitrogen (DON) concentrations were observed 18 and 23 days after peak discharge in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Moreover, DOM aromaticity and abundance of humic substances significantly increased during the same period. Separation of discharge hydrograph into surface runoff and subsurface flow suggested that temporal changes were mainly due to contributions from subsurface flow flushing organic matter from wetlands and organic-rich riparian zones. The spatial analysis highlighted the key role of the forested wetlands as the only land use that significantly correlated with both DOM quantity (DOC and DON load) and DOM composition (i.e., aromaticity). The Yadkin-Pee Dee River basin alone exported more than 474 million kg DOC into the ocean during high-flow conditions from the 2016 event, indicating that such extreme short-term events mobilized enormous amounts of organic carbon and nitrogen to the ocean. Considering the predicted increase in frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events in the eastern U.S., the results of this study can shed light on changes in DOM dynamics that may occur under such conditions in the near future. Reduced-order models of the bladed disk of the aero-engine compressor were established by adopting Prestressed component mode synthesis (PCMS) method. The frequency veering characteristics of the tuned bladed disk were analyzed. From the aspect of the strain energy, the forced vibration response of the mistuned bladed disk was analyzed, along with calculation of the contribution degree factors, the localization factors and frequency veering distances, finding the influences of the frequency veering distance, the contribution degree factors and the localization. The results show that frequency veering has significant influence on vibration localization of the mistuned bladed disk; in the region of frequency veering, the degree of vibration localization of the mistuned bladed disk is relatively high; along with the changes of the frequency veering distance, the contribution degree of the strain energy of the blades of localization of the mistuned bladed disk shows the certainty of regularity. The massive Ulva (U.) prolifera bloom in the Yellow Sea was first observed and reported in summer of 2008. After that, the green tide event occurred every year and influenced coastal areas of Jiangsu and Shandong provinces of China. Satellite remote sensing plays an important role in monitoring the floating macroalgae. In this paper, U. prolifera patches are detected from quasisynchronous satellite images with different spatial resolution, i.e., Aqua MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer), HJ-1A/B (China Small Satellite Constellation for Environment and Disaster Monitoring and Forecasting), CCD (Charge-Coupled Device), Landsat 8 OLI (Operational Land Imager), and ENVISAT (Environmental Satellite) ASAR (Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. Two comparative experiments are performed to explore the U. prolifera monitoring abilities by different data using detection methods such as NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) with different thresholds. Results demonstrate that spatial resolution is an important factor affecting the extracted area of the floating macroalgae. Due to the complexity of Case II sea water characteristics in the Yellow Sea, a fixed threshold NDVI method is not suitable for U. prolifera monitoring. A method with adaptive ability in time and space, e.g., the threshold selection method proposed by Otsu (1979), is needed here to obtain accurate information on the floating macroalgae. Main conclusion: miRNAs are involved in the pollen development during the CMS occurrence in rice. Abstract: miRNAs are 20-24 nt endogenously expressed small RNAs that play key roles in the regulation of many growth and developmental processes in plants. The knowledge on cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) regulation by miRNAs in rice is rather limited. In this study, Illumina sequencing was employed to examine the expression profiles of rice anther miRNAs from the CMS line MeixiangA (MxA) and its maintainer line MeixiangB (MxB). A total of 518 known miRNAs and 144 novel miRNAs were identified during rice anther development. Based on the number of sequencing reads, a total of 24 miRNAs were discovered to be differentially expressed between MxA and MxB, and the results were partially validated by qRT-PCR. Among these, 16 miRNAs were decreased and 8 miRNAs were increased in MxA compared with MxB. Target prediction showed that they target genes encoding EF-hand family proteins, F-box domain-containing proteins, MYB transcription factors, PPR-containing proteins and transposons. The expression patterns for targets of osa-miR528, osa-miR5793, osa-miR1432, osa-miR159, osa-miR812d, osa-miR2118c, osa-miR172d and osa-miR5498 were selectively examined, and the results showed that there was a negative correlation on the expression patterns between miRNAs and their targets. These targets have previously been reported to be related with pollen development and male sterility, suggesting that miRNAs might act as regulators of CMS occurrence in rice anthers. Furthermore, miRNA editing events were observed. The U → C and U → A editing phenomenon was validated by molecular cloning and sequencing. Traveling wave differential protection has the ability, in theory, to entirely eliminate the effects of distributed capacitive current, but it cannot be applied on series-capacitor-compensated lines directly. In this paper, unbalanced output of conventional forward and reverse traveling wave differential currents under normal operating conditions and external faults was analyzed. A new type of traveling wave differential current was defined by combining forward and reverse traveling wave differential currents. Expressions of the defined differential current when internal and external faults occur were deduced. On this basis, a new principle of traveling wave module differential protection on series-capacitor-compensated lines was proposed, and characteristics of module differential current under different faults were analyzed. The priniciple is immune to line distributed capacity, series capacitor positions, and presence or absence of MOV breakovers. The validity of this scheme was verified by PSACD simulations. To assess inter-and intraobserver reproducibility for measuring perfusion CT derived cerebral blood volume (CBV) and relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) with different slice thickness in patients with brain neoplasms. Three independent observers who were blinded to the histopathologic diagnosis performed perfusion derived CBV and rCBV measurements with 5 mm and 10 mm slice thickness in 52 patients with various cerebral neoplasms. The results of the measurements with different slice thickness were compared. Calculation of coefficient of variation (CV), and relative paired difference of the measurements were used to determine the levels of inter-and intraobserver reproducibility. The differences of CBV and rCBV measurements between different slice thickness groups were statistically significant ( P < 0.05) respectively in observer 2, and were not significant in the other two observers ( P > 0.05). For the same slice thickness, both the difference of CBV and rCBV measurements among the three observers were not statistically significant. Interobserver CV and relative paired difference of the measurements with 10 mm slice thickness group were slightly lower than those of 5 mm slice thickness group. Interobserver CV and relative paired difference of CBV group were slightly lower than those of rCBV group. The intraobserver differences of CBV and rCBV in 10 mm slice thickness group were statistically significant for observer 2 respectively. No other intraobserver differences of measurements were statistically significant. CV and relative paired difference of intraobserver CBV and rCBV measurements for observer 2 were significantly higher than for the other two observers. High reproducibility of CBV and rCBV measurements was acquired with the two different slice thickness. Suitable training may be helpful to maintain a high level of consistency for measurements. Thrust and nappe tectonics have affected the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula, the easternmost terminal of the Sulu Ultra-high Pressure Metamorphic Belt. Four nappes have been mapped, named respectively the Shidao, Rongcheng, Mishan and Mouping nappes. The methods used included multi-scale structural analysis and structural chronology analysis. These nappes define four deep level slip-thrust shear zones that were mainly active in the Mesozoic. The amount of ductile deformation decreases from the Shidao to Rongcheng to Mouping to Mishan shear zones, and shows an inverse relationship with temperature. 40Ar/39Ar chronological analysis and the chronological results of former workers reveal four movement steps defined by the development of thrusts and nappes in the late Triassic (210–180 Ma), extensional movement from the Jurassic to early Cretaceous (180–130 Ma), slip-thrust movement in the Early Cretaceous (130–120 Ma), and extensional movement since the Late Cretaceous (120 Ma). The order of boundary shear zone motion in the period of slip-thrust movement during the Early Cretaceous (130–120 Ma) was along the Shidao, Rongcheng, Mouping and finally the Mishan shear zone. This resulted in clockwise rotation of the nappes relative to block west to the Tan-Lu Faults. Because of the similar evolutionary history of the Tan-Lu Faults and the thrust and nappe structure in the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula, slip dislocation along the Tan-Lu Faults might have been absorbed by thrust and nappe tectonics in the Jiaodong area in the Mesozoic era, resulting in much less dislocation on the Tan-Lu faults in North Eastern China than that in south along the Jiaodong Peninsula. A major slip and thrust belt within the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula is located at the eastern terminal of the Qinling-Dabie-Sulu orogenic belt between the Sino-Korea Block and Yangtze Block. Although a lot of isotope chronologic data have been obtained regionally, little structural chronological research has been conducted in this region and this paper corrects that. Syn-deformational minerals were systematically selected from samples of the NE-ENE trending transpressional shear zones and transpressional nappes and carefully analysed using 40Ar/39Ar methods. Two tectonic events were defined with the first event resulting from early movement of transpressional nappes around 190 Ma ago. This accords with the period of syn-orogenic sinistral slip of the Tan-Lu faults and clockwise shear in the Eastern Qinling-Tongbaishan part of the Qinling-Dabie-Sulu orogenic belt. The second event involved strikeslip thrust movement of deep shear zones between 130Ma and 120Ma. This resulted from the onset of Mesozoic tectonic conversion in the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula. The sinistral strikeslip-thrusting in Jiaodong Peninsula and the extensional tectonism (toward ESE) in Liaodong Peninsula probably resulted in the clockwise rotation of Korea Peninsula in late Mesozoic. SHRIMP U-Pb zircon analyses for a gabbro sample from the Garzê ophiolite block yielded a mean206Pb/238U age of 292 ±4 Ma, which indicated that the spreading time of the Garzê-Litang Tethys was most likely at the earliest Permian. Combined with previous studies, we suggest that the opening of the Tethys in southwest China was derived from breakup of the East Gondwanaland in the late Paleozoic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ambient sunlight-driven CO2 methanation cannot be realized due to the temperature being less than 80 °C upon irradiation with dispersed solar energy. In this work, a selective light absorber was used to construct a photothermal system to generate a high temperature (up to 288 °C) under weak solar irradiation (1 kW m−2), and this temperature is three times higher than that in traditional photothermal catalysis systems. Moreover, ultrathin amorphous Y2O3 nanosheets with confined single nickel atoms (SA Ni/Y2O3) were synthesized, and they exhibited superior CO2 methanation activity. As a result, 80% CO2 conversion efficiency and a CH4 production rate of 7.5 L m−2 h−1 were achieved through SA Ni/Y2O3 under solar irradiation (from 0.52 to 0.7 kW m−2) when assisted by a selective light absorber, demonstrating that this system can serve as a platform for directly harnessing dispersed solar energy to convert CO2 to valuable chemicals. While light-driven CO2 methanation provides a renewable means to upgrade waste emissions, the sunlight is insufficient to drive high temperature CO2 methanation.
