The adversary makes malicious samples capable of triggering erroneous judgments in deep learning models by introducing imperceptible perturbations to the original benign texts. These malicious samples are referred to as adversarial texts. The exploration of adversarial text generation methods not only facilitates our understanding of the robustness of mainstream deep neural networks against such adversarial attacks but also aids in developing appropriate defensive strategies. Nevertheless, the mainstream research on textual adversarial attacks has mainly focused on attack effectiveness, overlooking the associated attack cost. For real-world attacks, considerations such as the time cost, material cost, manpower cost, and various constraints are also crucial. In this paper, we propose a low-cost adversarial text generation method based on the universal strategy in the black-box attack scenario, Universal Chinese Text Tricker (UCTT), for tendency classification on Chinese texts. UCTT is both text-independent and model-independent, which markedly reduces its attack cost. Instead of crafting adversarial texts for a specific text, UCTT generates universal perturbations based on a universal word substitution list, which is applicable to any data in tendency classification datasets. Given a perturbation rate, we can use the word list to craft adversarial texts by simple substitutions without accessing the target model. In the framework of adversarial text generation based on word importance, UCTT utilizes count, arithmetic progression, linear normalization, and nonlinear normalization to calculate the scores of the important words in the dataset and then computes the candidate word frequencies, which in turn constructs the universal word substitution list. Compared with other black-box methods, the experimental results on real-world tendency classification datasets show that UCTT exhibits an effective attack capability while significantly reducing the attack cost. Compared to the powerful baseline we designed that exceeds the SOTA, UCTT improves the efficiency of adversarial text generation by up to a factor of 7 without accessing the target model. In addition to demonstrating excellent attack performance on mainstream models, UCTT is also capable of attacking the powerful ChatGPT in the physical world, which cannot be directly attacked by traditional adversarial text generation methods due to the hard labels produced by the target model. Children now are facing an increasing risk of early life stress (ELS), which leads to detrimental psychosocial outcomes. Behavior studies suggested that positive parental interactions might moderate the negative impact of ELS, but the related biological alteration remains unclear. This study aims to investigate whether positive parent–child interactions moderate the association between maltreatment (as a severe form of ELS) and hair cortisol concentration (HCC), as well as between HCC and psychosocial outcomes in young children. Participants were 6-year-old Chinese children (N = 257, Mage = 6.2, 121 were male) selected by stratified cluster random sampling from a Shanghai population representative cohort. Proximal 3 cm hair strands were analyzed using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry for HCC. Children’s psychosocial outcome was evaluated using the parental report Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Parents also reported the frequency of positive parent–child interactions using the Chinese Parent–Child Interaction Scale (CPCIS) as well as the history of maltreatment. Multi-level logistic regression models adjusting for individual, kindergarten, and district confounders were used to evaluate the associations between maltreatment, HCC, and psychosocial outcomes. Interactions terms tested whether more frequent positive parent–child interactions moderates the association between maltreatment and HCC, as well as between HCC and psychosocial outcomes. Maltreated children exhibited higher levels of HCC (B = 1.20, 95% CI: 0.38,2.02; p = 0.004), and children with higher HCC exhibited poorer psychosocial outcomes (B = 0.34, 95% CI: 0.18,0.51; p < 0.001). Positive parent–child interactions did not have a moderating effect on the association between maltreatment and HCC, but they demonstrated a moderating effect on the association between increased HCC and psychosocial outcomes (interaction term: B = −0.42, 95% CI: −0.75,−0.10; p = 0.01). These findings provide evidence that positive parental interaction may serve as a moderator between chronic cortisol exposure and psychosocial problems. Introduction: To investigate the application value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), the difference of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value calculated from ADC map was used, in evaluating the pathologic grade of astrocytic tumors. Methods: 33 patients with histopathologically proven supratentorial astrocytic tumors were included in this prospective study. All of them received conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), DWI with diffusion factor of 0 and 50 s/mm and of 0 and 3,000 s/mm, and perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI) examinations. Pseudo-color ADC maps were obtained by means of using ADC map with low b value (0 and 50 s/mm) minus ADC map with high b value (0 and 3,000 s/mm). Results: The highest ADC value of grades I-II, grade III, and grade IV was (0.91 ± 0.07) × 10, (1.81 ± 0.38) × 10, and (2.36 ± 0.32) × 10 mm/s, respectively, and there was statistical difference among them ( p < 0.001). The highest ADC value between low-grade (grades I-II) and high-grade (grades III-IV) astrocytic tumors showed statistical difference as well ( p < 0.001). The highest ADC value of astrocytic tumors correlated positively with the pathologic grade of tumor ( r = 0.853, p < 0.001). Positive correlation was found between the highest ADC value and maximum relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) value ( r = 0.829, p < 0.001) in high-grade astrocytic tumors; however, the highest ADC value and maximum rCBV value had no significant correlation in low-grade astrocytic tumors ( r = 0.259, p = 0.536). Conclusion: Quantitative analysis of highest ADC value of supratentorial astrocytic tumors may provide valuable information of tumor microcirculation and perfusion, thus allowing a promising new method for preoperatively assessing the pathologic grade of tumor. The dysfunction of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) is one of the key factors in the pathogenesis of asthma. How miR-98-5p works in asthma has not been completely elucidated. This work focused on how miR-98-5p functions in the proliferation and migration of human ASMCs treated with interleukin-13 (IL-13). MiR-98-5p expression in plasma of asthmatic patients and IL-13-stimulated ASMCs was probed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). RAS-relevant C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (RAC1) protein expression in ASMCs was assessed by Western blot. The growth of ASMCs was measured by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay. The migration of ASMCs was examined by Transwell assay. Besides, the apoptosis of ASMCs was analyzed by flow cytometry. The targeting relationship between miR-98-5p and RAC1 3′-UTR was verified by a dual-luciferase reporter gene assay. MiR-98-5p expression was reduced in patients' plasma and IL-13-stimulated ASMCs, and RAC1 expression was upregulated in ASMCs treated with IL-13. MiR-98-5p overexpression inhibited IL-13-induced proliferation and migration of ASMCs while promoting the apoptosis. The opposite result was observed after inhibiting miR-98-5p expression. Besides, RAC1 was identified as a direct downstream target of miR-98-5p in ASMCs. The restoration of RAC1 expression counteracted the impacts of miR-98-5p overexpression on IL-13-stimulated proliferation, migration, and apoptosis of ASMCs. Key Message: PbMYB1L enhances the cold tolerance and anthocyanin accumulation of transgenic Arabidopsis by regulating the expression of genes related to the cold-responsive genes pathway and anthocyanin synthesis pathway. MYB transcription factors (TFs) have been demonstrated to play diverse roles in plant growth and development. In the present study, we identified a novel R2R3-MYB transcription factor, PbMYB1L, from the peel of 'Red Zaosu' pear (Pyrus bretschneideri), which was induced by cold stress and acted as a positive regulator in anthocyanin biosynthesis. Notably, the transgenic Arabidopsis lines exhibited enhanced tolerance to cold stress. Compared to the Arabidopsis wild-type plants, the transgenic lines displayed longer primary roots and reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels including O2−, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and malondialdehyde (MDA). Furthermore, significant upregulation of key cold-responsive genes AtCBF1, AtCBF2, AtCBF3, AtCBF4, and AtKIN1 was observed in the transgenic plants under cold stress conditions compared to wild type. Arabidopsis plants overexpressing PbMYB1L had significant anthocyanin accumulation in leaves after cold treatment with quantitative results indicating higher expression of anthocyanin structural genes compared to wild type. Citrus rootstock can modify plant growth and enhance stress resistance. There are many genotypes and species used as citrus rootstocks. Although multiple citrus rootstocks whole genome sequence and transcriptome databases have previously been published, no suitable internal reference genes have been investigated for standardization of gene expression via quantitative real-time PCR. Here we reported the first systematic and comprehensive analysis of reference genes for quantitative real-time PCR standardization in various citrus rootstocks. The expression stability of ten candidate reference genes in diverse sample subsets of flooding, drought, alkaline and cold treatments was evaluated using four statistical algorithms, geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper and ΔCt method. The results demonstrated that the expression stability of reference genes varied under different experimental conditions. In addition, normalization of gene expression of 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase 3 (NCED 3), involved in abscisic acid biosynthesis, was conducted to further confirm the reliability of the reference genes. Overall, EF-1α, DIM 1, GAPC and UBC expressed much more stably. ACTIN and GAPDH were not recommended for normalization in given experimental conditions due to low stability. Our main contribution was to identify reference genes with suitable and stable expression in citrus rootstocks varied across selected experimental conditions. In this paper, we reported the synthesis of a new polyoxovanadate hybrid with chlorobenzoyl ligand, which was characterized by a series of spectroscopic technologies radiated with the wavelengths from nanoscale to decimetre including X-ray diffraction, Ultraviolet-Visible spectrometer, Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometer, Raman spectrometer and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. The electrochemical behaviour and thermal stability were also investigated through cyclic voltammetries and thermogravimetric analyses, respectively. PICALM rs3851179 and CLU rs11136000 have been recently associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Investigating the effects of these genetic variants on the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) of the hippocampus may provide new insight into AD pathogenesis. We investigated the main effects and interactions of these two genetic variants on hippocampal rsFC in 283 healthy young adults. The hippocampus showed positive rsFC with the default mode network and negative rsFC with the fronto-parietal network. Risk PICALM G-allele carriers showed weaker negative rsFC compared with AA carriers, whereas risk CLU-CC carriers exhibited stronger positive and negative rsFC than T-allele carriers. There existed complex interactions between PICALM and CLU on the negative rsFC of the hippocampus. Moreover, we found an allele-dependent effect of CLU on hippocampal connectivity when an additive genetic model was applied to CLU. Most of these effects remained significant even after controlling for individual ApoE status. Our results suggest that PICALM and CLU risk genotypes exert differential impacts on the hippocampal rsFC in healthy young subjects. A common variant (rs53576) of the OXTR gene has been implicated in a number of socio-emotional phenotypes, such as anxiety-related behavior. Previous studies have demonstrated that A-allele carriers have higher levels of physiological and dispositional stress reactivity and depressive symptomatology compared to those with the GG genotype, but the mediating neural mechanisms remain poorly understood. We combined voxel-based morphometry and resting-state functional connectivity analyses in a large cohort of healthy young Chinese Han individuals to test the hypothesis that the OXTR gene polymorphism influences an anxiety-related temperamental trait, as assessed by the harm avoidance subscale from the Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire via modulating the gray matter volume and resting-state functional connectivity of the brain, especially the limbic system. We revealed that female subjects with the AA genotype showed increased harm avoidance scores relative to G-carrier females. We also found that, compared to female individuals with the GG/GA genotype, female individuals with the AA genotype exhibited significantly smaller amygdala volumes bilaterally (especially the centromedial subregion), with a trend of allele-load-dependence. Compared to female individuals with the GG/GA genotype, female subjects with the AA genotype demonstrated reduced resting-state functional coupling between the prefrontal cortex and amygdala bilaterally, also with an allele-load-dependent trend. Furthermore, the magnitude of prefrontal-amygdala coupling in the left hemisphere was positively correlated with harm avoidance scores in female subjects. Our findings highlight a possible neural pathway by which a naturally occurring variation of the OXTR gene may affect an anxiety-related temperamental trait in female subjects by modulating prefrontal-amygdala functional connectivity. Background: Currently, the most popular hospital payment method in China is fee-for-service (FFS) with a global budget cap. As of December 2009, a policy change means that heart stents are covered by public health insurance, whereas previously they were not. This policy change provides us an opportunity to study how a change in insurance benefit affected the quantity and quality of hospital services. The new policy introduced incentives for both patients and providers: it encourages patient demand for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) services and stent use (moral hazard effect), and discourages hospital supply due to the financial pressures of the global cap (provider gaming effect). If the provider's gaming effect dominates the moral hazard effect, actual utilisation and costs might go down, and vice versa. Our hypothesis is that patients in the higher reimbursement groups will have fewer PCIs and lower inpatient costs. Objective: We aimed to examine the impact of health insurance benefit design on PCI and stent use, and on inpatient costs and out-of-pocket expenses for patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in Shanghai. Methods: We included 720 patients with AMI (467 before the benefit change and 253 after) from a large teaching tertiary hospital in Shanghai. Data were collected via review of hospital medical charts, and from the hospital billing database. Patient information collected included demographic characteristics, medical history and procedure information. All patients were categorised into four groups according to their actual reimbursement ratio: high (90-100 %), moderate (80-90 %), low (0-80 %) and none (self-paid patients). Multiple regression and difference-in-difference (DID) models were used to investigate the impacts of the health insurance benefit design on PCI and stent use, and on total hospital costs and patients' out-of-pocket expenses. Results: After the change in insurance benefit policy, compared with the self-paid group, PCI rates for the moderate and low reimbursement groups increased by 22.2 and 20.3 %, respectively, and decreased by 48.7 % for the high reimbursement group. The change in insurance benefit policy had no impact on the number of stents used. The high reimbursement group had the lowest hospital costs, and the low reimbursement group had the highest hospital costs, regardless of benefit policy change. The general linear regression results showed that the high reimbursement group had higher total hospital costs than the self-paid group, but were the lowest among all reimbursement groups after the benefit policy change (DID = 1,202.21, P = 0.0096). There were no significant changes in the other two groups, and there were no differences in the out-of-pocket costs across any of the insured groups. Conclusions: Our results suggest that the benefit policy change did not impact life-saving procedures or reduce patients' burden of disease among AMI patients. The effect of 'provider gaming' was the strongest for the high reimbursement group as a result of the global budget cap pressure. The current FFS with a global budget cap is of low efficiency for cost containment and equity improvement. Purpose: To prospectively evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) imaging including dynamic contrast-enhanced MR imaging in the differentiation of benign from malignant orbital masses and to evaluate which MR imaging features are most predictive of malignant tumors.Materials and Methods: The study was approved by the institutional review board and signed informed consent was obtained. Nonenhanced, static, and dynamic contrast-enhanced MR imaging was performed in 102 adult patients with an orbital mass. Diagnosis was based on histologic findings. MR imaging features of benign and malignant orbital lesions were evaluated correlated with histological findings. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the best combination of MR imaging features that might be predictive of malignancy.Results: Nonenhanced, static, and dynamic enhancement MR imaging was significantly superior to two other models in prediction of malignancy (p < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified that the most discriminating MR imaging features were isointense mass on T2-weighted imaging and a washout-type time-intensity curve for both observers.Conclusion: Nonenhanced, static, and dynamic enhancement MR imaging improved differentiation between benign and malignant orbital masses in adult patients.
