Abstract

Since the number of days between calving and subsequent conception determines the calving interval in cattle, early pregnancy diagnosis has become a key to economic succes. Pregnancy is generally diagnosed by palpating the uterus and its contents per rectum. The accuracy of this method and the earliest time of which pregnancy can be recognized is dependent upon the experience of the palpator and on the pregnancy diagnosis criteria used.

Abstract

The impact of Dairy Cooperatives on knowledge, adoption and production and productivity of animals was examined. The study revealed that the knowledge and adoption of Dairy Innovations was significantly higher in cooporatives areas. There was significant reduction in age at first calving, dry period, calving interval and mortality rate in buffaloes. Cooperatives generated more employment per fern per annum than control villages.
