Unlike traditional clustering analysis, the biclustering algorithm works simultaneously on two dimensions of samples (row) and variables (column). In recent years, biclustering methods have been developed rapidly and widely applied in biological data analysis, text clustering, recommendation system and other fields. The traditional clustering algorithms cannot be well adapted to process high-dimensional data and/or large-scale data. At present, most of the biclustering algorithms are designed for the differentially expressed big biological data. However, there is little discussion on binary data clustering mining such as miRNA-targeted gene data. Here, we propose a novel biclustering method for miRNA-targeted gene data based on graph autoencoder named as GAEBic. GAEBic applies graph autoencoder to capture the similarity of sample sets or variable sets, and takes a new irregular clustering strategy to mine biclusters with excellent generalization. Based on the miRNA-targeted gene data of soybean, we benchmark several different types of the biclustering algorithm, and find that GAEBic performs better than Bimax, Bibit and the Spectral Biclustering algorithm in terms of target gene enrichment. This biclustering method achieves comparable performance on the high throughput miRNA data of soybean and it can also be used for other species.

A method of high-heating-rate thermal reduction is used to produce porous graphene nanosheets (PGNSs). This material is characterized by a unique holey structure, which is suitable for ionic liquid (IL) electrolyte. To study the effects of electrolyte anion, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfony)imide (EMI-TFSI) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (EMI-FSI) ILs are used. Due to the smaller size of FSI−, EMI-FSI shows a higher conductivity and lower viscosity than those of EMI-TFSI. The specific capacitances of PGNS electrodes are 90 and 260 F g−1, respectively, measured in EMI-TFSI and EMI-FSI ILs at a potential scan rate of 50 mV s−1. The PGNS symmetric cell with EMI-FSI electrolyte is able to deliver a maximum energy and power densities of 110 Wh kg−1 and 101 kW kg−1, respectively, with a cell voltage of 3.5 V. In addition, 85% of the initial capacity can be retained after 2000 charge–discharge cycles.

Background This study aimed to describe the design and present the baseline characteristics of a web-based lifestyle intervention program, which comprises of sequentially and simultaneously delivered intervention modules targeting physical activity (PA) and fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC) in Chinese college students. Methods The study adopted a randomized placebo-controlled trial, using the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) and the Compensatory Carry-Over Action Model (CCAM) as the theoretical backdrops. 556 Chinese college students participated in the 8-week web-based lifestyle intervention program. All eligible participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups: 1) the PA-first arm which received a 4-week intervention addressing PA followed by a 4-week intervention addressing FVC; 2) the FVC-first arm which received a 4-week intervention addressing FVC followed by a 4-week intervention addressing PA; 3) the PA + FVC simultaneous arm that received an 8-week intervention addressing both PA and FVC at the same time; and 4) the placebo-control arm that received 8 weeks of general health information, which is not relevant for changing actual PA and FVC behaviors. Data collection includes four time-points: at the beginning and end of the intervention, and a 3-month and 12-month follow-up after the intervention. Results At baseline, 41.7% of participants were male and 58.3% were female. 41.0% of the participants did not meet the standard PA-recommendations, while 69.6% did not adhere to the standard FVC-recommendations. In total, only 19.6% of participants met both PA and FVC recommendations. Baseline characteristics across the four groups had no significant differences (all P = .17–.99), indicating successful randomization. Conclusions The preliminary results indicate a high prevalence of unhealthy lifestyles in college students in China, which further supports the need for web-based health intervention programs. This is also the first study that examines the comparative effectiveness of simultaneously and sequentially delivered lifestyle interventions in the Chinese population. These findings may contribute to the creation of future web-based health behavior change interventions. Trial registration ClinicalTrails.gov: NCT03627949, 14 August, 2018. Six 2-(2-acylaminobenzothiazol-6-yl)isoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-diones (1a–1f) and five 2-arylisoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-diones (1g–1k) were synthesized by refluxing homophthalic anhydrides with 2-acylaminobenzothiazolyl-6-amine or substituted aniline in glacial acetic acid. The cytotoxic activities of 1a–1k were evaluated via MTT method against A431, A549, and PC3. Compound 1b relatively displayed a higher cytotoxic activity than the others. The antitumor effect of 1b were evaluated in established nude mice PANC-1 xenograft model. The results suggest that compound 1b could potentially inhibit tumor growth.

An anisotropic EPR signal was observed in porous Si. According to its symmetry andg value, the EPR signal can be attributed to silicon dangling bonds located on the surface of a porous Si skeleton. The evolution of the EPR signal at room temperature in air was measured. The annealing temperature dependence of the EPR and the PL of porous Si in oxygen and the effects of gamma irradiation on the EPR and the PL spectra of porous Si were studied. The changes of the EPR signal and the PL intensity induced in atmosphere by ethyl alcohol and acetone were discovered. The dangling bond is only one of the factors which affect the PL.
