The aim of this study was to understand the dynamics of multidimensional poverty and its determinants among mid-aged and older adults. We used 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2018 data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. We utilised basic descriptive statistics, the poverty transition matrix, Kaplan–Meier estimates, and the discrete-time proportional hazards model for data analysis. From 2011 to 2018, the incidence of multidimensional poverty among mid-aged and older people basically decreased, but the average poverty intensity remained stable. Most mid-aged and older adults had transient multidimensional poverty. The longer an individual remained multidimensionally poor, the smaller the probability of exit from poverty; The longer an individual remained nonpoor after escaping from poverty, the smaller the probability of returning to poverty. As to other factors, individual characteristics, family structure, living arrangements, social capital, and living areas significantly affected the risks of multidimensional poverty exit and reentry. Based on these results, the government should implement targeted interventions for frail older adults with the identified characteristics to prevent them from persistent multidimensional poverty or return to poverty.

Background Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours (MPNSTs) of the trachea are extremely uncommon neoplasms with unknown genetic and clinical profiles. Only individual cases have been reported in the literature to date. Case presentation Here, we present a rare case of a 61-year-old female patient with a primary MPNST of the trachea who complained of irritating cough and progressively increasing breathlessness for 4 weeks. This patient initially underwent intraluminal resection of the mass and was misdiagnosed with clear cell sarcoma. Less than a year later, the mass relapsed, and the obstructive symptoms reappeared and gradually worsened. Debulking of the endotracheal tumour mass was performed once again, and an MPNST was definitively diagnosed. Open sleeve tracheal resection and tracheoplasty were later performed with curative intent. This patient was alive without recurrence at her six-month postoperative follow-up. We also compared the clinical outcomes of previously reported cases of MPNSTs and our case. Conclusions This paper emphasizes that thoracic surgeons should be aware that malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours of the trachea can be misdiagnosed in clinical practice and must be included in the differential diagnosis of tracheal neoplasms.

In this paper, we study positive Toeplitz operators on the harmonic Bergman space via their Berezin transforms. We consider the Toeplitz operators with continuous harmonic symbols on the closed disk and show that the Toeplitz operator is positive if and only if its Berezin transform is nonnegative on the disk. On the other hand, we construct a function such that the Toeplitz operator with this function as the symbol is not positive but its Berezin transform is positive on the disk. We also consider the harmonic Bergman space on the upper half plane and prove that in this case the positive Toeplitz operators with continuous integrable harmonic symbols must be the zero operator.

In this paper, we introduce a general multilevel gradient Uzawa algorithm for symmetric saddle point systems. We compare its performance with the performance of the standard Uzawa multilevel algorithm. The main idea of the approach is to combine a double inexact Uzawa algorithm at the continuous level with a gradient type algorithm at the discrete level. The algorithm is based on the existence of a priori multilevel sequences of nested approximation pairs of spaces, but the family does not have to be stable. To ensure convergence, the process has to maintain an accurate representation of the residuals at each step of the inexact Uzawa algorithm at the continuous level. The residual representations at each step are approximated by projections or representation operators. Sufficient conditions for ending the iteration on a current pair of discrete spaces are determined by computing simple indicators that involve consecutive iterations. When compared with the standard Uzawa multilevel algorithm, our proposed algorithm has the advantages of automatically selecting the relaxation parameter, lowering the number of iterations on each level, and improving on running time. By carefully choosing the discrete spaces and the projection operators, the error for the second component of the solution can be significantly improved even when comparison is made with the discretization on standard families of stable pairs.

According to the equivalence principles, high frequency approximation and boundary conditions, a method has been developed to deal with the EM scattering by a rectangular conducting flat plate coated with uniaxial anisotropic radar absorbing material (RAM). The simple and effective method is available to the system of RCS prediction in which the large complex targets modeled by facets and wedges. Numerical results show some properties of EM scattering by conducting plate coated with thin uniaxial anisotropic RAM.

Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects of Astragaloside and Perindopril on myocardial sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ -ATPase (SERCA) activity and the SERCA type 2 mRNA level in Coxsack-ievirus B3 (CVB3)-infected cardiomyocytes.Methods: Cultured cardiomyocytes of rats were divided into normal, model, Astragaloside and Perindopril groups. The model, Astragaloside and Perindopril groups were infected with CVB3. Meanwhile, the Astragaloside and the Perindopril groups were treated with Astragaloside (10 μg/ml) and Perindopril (1.3 μg/ml) respectively. Cytopathic effect (CPE), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), the SERCA activity and mRNA level of the SERCA type 2 were observed after 96 hours.Results: The CPE and cTnI of model group were significantly higher than those of normal, Astragaloside and Perindopril groups (P 0.05).Conclusion: Astragaloside and Perindopril were able to reverse the down-regulations of cardiac SERCA activity and mRNA expression caused by virus infection to alleviate the cardiomyocyte injury.

Surveying the propagation path loss behavior of Shenzhen city and from the data recorded we can obtain the city’s path loss slopes, which can be comparatively regarded as the reliable bases of system design.

A RCS prediction system named SCTE (Scattering from Complex Target and Environment) for calculating high-frequency electromagnetic scattering from complex target within complex environment is presented. The scattering body is described by Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) representations in which the complex body is modeled as NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-spline) surfaces. The complex environment (rough surface of sea or ground) is also carefully considered by using fractal function. Scattering fields are calculated by using physical optics and the equivalent currents methods. There is a good agreement between the present results and that from measurements which demonstrates the accuracy of this system.

The scattering characteristics of electromagnetic waves from buildings are presented. The uniform geometric theory of diffraction (UTD) is employed to approximate the near field-far field distribution. The numerical results presented demonstrate that the UTD solution can be conveniently and efficiently applied to many practical problems. As such results are of importance to the mobile communication field.

The EM scattering from rough surface has been investigated in the past years. Periodic and random models are often used in modeling the rough surface. Recently, the fractal geometry is rapidly improved. It provides a new way to model the rough surface whose characteristics are long-range order and short-range disorder. In this paper, A fractal function is used to model the rough surface. A scattering coefficient for calculating the angular distribution and the amount of energy in the spectrally scattering field to the fractal characteristics of the surfaces by finding their analytical expressions is derived by using the Kirchhoff solution. In the end, we calculate some scattering patterns.

An all-sky and a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometers (FPI) have been developed for observations of vertical winds and two-dimensional atmospheric motions in the low-thermosphere and the mesosphere region by the measurement of Doppler shift and broadening of airglow emission lines. The system of FPI is described and the method of data analysis is proposed, an example of observation is also given.

To clarify the effects of an antithyroid drug on the kinetics of thyroglobulin synthesis, secretion, and reabsorption in the thyroid follicles, propylthiouracil (PTU) was administered to rats and the thyroid glands were examined by a refined post-embedding immunogold technique during and after withdrawal of PTU. Seven-wk-old male Wistar rats were administered with S mg of PTU/d through a gastric tube, and sacrificed at 1 and 2 wk of administration and at 1, 2, and 3 d, and 1, 2, 3, and 4 wk, after discontinuation. The administration of PTU caused a remarkable dilatation of the rER and Golgi apparatus, but these areas gradually recovered after withdrawal of PTU. During the experiment, no significant change in the density of thyroglobulin (Tg) was observed except for a transient increase immediately after withdrawal of PTU. The expression of Tg on subapical vesicles (SV) and follicular colloid took a relatively parallel course; increasing during administration of PTU and decreasing with a transient peak immediately after treatment was discontinued. In contrast to the remarkable changes in the morphology of compartments involved in Tg synthesis, the development of colloid droplets and formation of secondary lysosomes were suppressed during and after discontinuing administration of PTU. However, the basic pattern of the gradient of Tg density among the cellular compartments was essentially retained in the experimental group. Thus the present immunoelectron-microscopic study provided evidence that administration of PTU stimulates the synthesis and secretion of Tg in the follicular epithelium in vivo, and, also, suppresses reabsorption and degradation of Tg. Further, it was speculated that the density gradient of Tg among the compartments involved in Tg synthesis, secretion and storage is regulated by an unknown constitutive mechanism and not by the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)-TSH receptor-mediated system.

The electromagnetic (EM) scattering by rivets on the conducting plate is studied for the first time by using electric field integral equation (EFIE) in conjunction with the moment method. The surfaces of the rivets and the plate are partitioned into triangular cells, the current distribution on the patches is represented by sub-domain type basis function, the EFIE is translated into matrix equation by the Galerkin method, then the current coefficient is obtained. The results show the properties of radar cross section (RCS) varying with the incident angle when there are rivets on the plate.
