The research aims to excavate the role of global (Fed Rate, Crude, Real Dollar Index) and endogenous economic variables (GDP and Consumer Price Index) in shaping the spillover amongst the major Indian Financial indicators, viz. Nifty Index, MCX Gold, USDINR, Govt. Bond 10Y maturity and agricultural index N-Krishi. To facilitate cross-comparison decomposition of time-varying spillover output generated from Time-Varying Vector Autoregression (TVP-VAR) with aggregation at three layers is performed. The research finds that Indian Financial Indicators are vulnerable to spillover shocks from global variables predominantly driven by Fed Rate and Real Dollar Index. USDINR turns out to be most sensitive to global shocks and transgresses the shock to other financial indicators. Importantly, persistently high inflation has brought volatility spikes in the directional spillover to financial indicators. Though spillover subsidence is observed post-2014, with an all-time high during GFC, a sudden spurt in all financial indicators has been observed post-Covid-19, with Govt. bonds showing a sporadic rise. An important observation relates to staunch spillover from GDP during GFC with reoccurrence post-Covid. Additionally, a closely knit spillover tie is observed among USDINR, N-Krishi, and Crude. The study is beneficial to RBI to proactively monitor the weakening rupee along with Fed tapering to manage the rising spillover post-Covid-19. The effort of RBI has to be reciprocated by the government in inflation targeting to reinforce the curbing efforts of rising shock spillover.

This research work focuses on the influence of Neodymium (Nd) doping (0–10 at.%) on the structural, optical, electrical, and photo-response properties of Zinc Oxide thin films deposited on glass substrates by cost-effective spray pyrolysis technique. For all the deposited films, the X-ray diffraction peaks matched the hexagonal wurtzite structure of ZnO with the maximum intensity along the (1 0 1) plane. Using XRD data, the crystallite size, dislocation density, and micro-strain of the films were estimated. Compared to other films, Zn0.96Nd0.04O film exhibited higher crystallinity ~ 18 nm. At higher doping concentrations, a fibrous-granular mixed structure was observed. Above 80 percentage of transparency in the visible region and bandgap of 3.42 eV was observed for the Zn0.96Nd0.04O film. The decrease in Urbach energy with increase in the doping concentration indicated the improvement in crystallinity. The peaks related to band edge emission, zinc, and oxygen-related defects were observed in the photoluminescence analysis also increased band edge emission and lesser defects were observed in the Zn0.96Nd0.04O film. The highest charge carrier concentration ~ 1.7 × 1017 cm−3 and mobility ~ 62.8 cm2/Vs were noticed in of Zn0.96Nd0.04O film. When exposed to UV light, Zn0.96Nd0.04O film exhibited the maximum photocurrent ~ 10−4 A. Hence the Zn0.96Nd0.04O film can be used as a UV photodetector. Graphical Abstract

Renewable energy delivers reliable power supplies and fuel diversification, enhancing energy security and lowering fuel spill risk. Renewable energy also helps conserve the nation's natural resources. Solar and other renewable energy sources have become increasingly prominent in recent years. India has achieved the 20 GW capacity solar energy production target before 2022. It is presently producing the lowest-cost solar power at the global level. Thermal energy has dominated the energy market. Countries have decided on energy generation from renewable sources and adopting green energy. This study forecasted non-renewable and renewable energy from multiple sources (hydropower, solar, wind and bioenergy) using grey forecasting model DGM (1,1,α). The comparative analyses with the classical models DGM (1,1) and EGM (1,1) revealed the superiority of the DGM (1,1,α). We also used CAGR for 2009-2019 to compare the actual and predicted data growth rate. The results show that non-renewable and renewable energy production is expected to increase. However, renewable energy generation wind sources continue to increase faster than hydropower, solar and bioenergy.

High fructose flux enhances hepatocellular triglyceride accumulation (hepatic steatosis), which is a prime trigger in the emergence of hepatic ailments. Nevertheless, the pathophysiology underlying the process is not completely understood. Emerging evidences have revealed the inputs from multiple cues including inflammation, oxidative stress, and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the development of hepatic steatosis. Here, we substantiated the role of NLRP3 inflammasome and its convergence with oxidative and ER stress leading to hepatic steatosis under high fructose diet feeding. Male SD rats were fed on 60% high fructose diet (HFrD) for 10 weeks and treated with antioxidant quercetin or NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor glyburide during the last 6 weeks, followed by metabolic characterization and analysis of hepatic parameters. HFrD-induced hepatic steatosis was associated with the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, pro-inflammatory response, oxidative, and ER stress in liver. Treatment with quercetin abrogated HFrD-induced oxidative stress, along with attenuation of NLRP3 activation in the liver. On the other hand, inhibition of NLRP3 signaling by glyburide suppressed HFrD-induced oxidative and ER stress. Both glyburide or quercetin treatment significantly attenuated hepatic steatosis, associated with mitigated expression of the lipogenic markers in liver. Our findings verified the association of NLRP3 inflammasome with oxidative and ER stress in fructose-induced lipogenic response and indicate that in addition to be a target of oxidative/ER stress, NLRP3 can act as a trigger for oxidative/ER stress to activate a vicious cycle where these cues act in a complex manner to propagate inflammatory response, leading to hepatic steatosis.

The aim of the study is to see if visceral fat volume (VFV), subcutaneous fat volume (SFV), and visceral-subcutaneous fat ratio (VSR) can be used to detect metabolically obese normal weight individuals in Asian Indian population.This is a single center prospective cross-sectional study and 80 cases having either hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia with normal waist circumference and 80 controls having normal metabolic parameters with normal waist circumference were evaluated. Visceral and subcutaneous fat volumes and visceral to subcutaneous fat ratios were determined by computed tomography (CT) at L4-L5 level with a slice thickness of 5 mm.Visceral fat volume, subcutaneous fat volume, and VSR are significantly higher in patients with metabolic risk factors as compared to those without risk factors. Volume of subcutaneous fat is significantly higher in females as compared to males. VSR is higher in males in our study. The cutoff values for VFV, SFV, and VSR to predict at least one metabolic syndrome are 8.5 cmFor individuals with normal waist circumference, VFV, SFV, and VSR can effectively predict the presence of one metabolic risk factor.• Visceral fat volume, subcutaneous fat volume, and visceral-subcutaneous fat ratio can predict individuals at risk of metabolic syndrome having normal waist circumference. • Higher VSR in Indian population is due to low reservoir of primary adipose tissue fat compartment which leads to diversion of adipocytes into the secondary adipose tissue fat compartment. • This data can be used as a screening tool in preventive radiology for identifying individuals at risk of developing metabolic syndrome.

In this study, we present a promising and facile approach toward the fabrication of non-toxic, water-stable, and eco-friendly luminescent fiber paper composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer and CsPbBr3@SiO2 core–shell perovskite nanocrystals. PCL-perovskite fiber paper was fabricated using a conventional electrospinning process. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) clearly revealed incorporation of CsPbBr3@SiO2 nanocrystals in the fibers, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) demonstrated that incorporation of CsPbBr3@SiO2 nanocrystals did not affect the surface and diameter of the PCL-perovskite fibers. In addition, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and contact angle measurements have demonstrated that the PCL-perovskite fibers exhibit excellent thermal and water stability. The fabricated PCL-perovskite fiber paper exhibited a bright green emission centered at 520 nm upon excitation by ultra-violet (UV) light (374 nm). We have demonstrated that fluorescent PCL-perovskite fiber paper is a promising candidate for anti-counterfeiting applications because various patterns can be printed on the paper, which only become visible after exposure to UV light at 365 nm. Cell proliferation tests revealed that the PCL-perovskite fibers are cytocompatibility. Consequently, they may be suitable for biocompatible anti-counterfeiting. The present study reveals that PCL-perovskite fibers may pave way toward next generation biomedical probe and anti-counterfeiting applications. Graphical Abstract

Background Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) of lower extremities comprises a clinical spectrum that extends from asymptomatic patients to critical limb ischemia (CLI) patients. 10% to 40% of the patients are at the risk of primary amputation. This study was planned in “no-option” patients of CLI due to atherosclerotic PAD to assess the efficacy and safety of pooled, allogeneic, adult human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells which is already approved for marketing in India for CLI due to Buerger’s disease. Methods This was a single-arm, multi-centric, phase III study where mesenchymal stromal cells was injected as 2 million cells/kg body weight in the calf muscle and around the ulcer. Twenty-four patients of lower extremity CLI due to PAD with Rutherford III-5 or III-6 and ankle–brachial pressure index ≤ 0.6 and having have at least one ulcer with area between 0.5 and 10 cm2 were included in the study. These patients were evaluated over 12 months from drug administration. Results Over a period of 12 months, statistical significant reduction of rest pain and ulcer size along with improvement in ankle–brachial pressure index and ankle systolic was observed. The quality of life of patients improved together with increase in total walking distance and major amputation-free survival time. Conclusion Mesenchymal stromal cells may be a feasible option to treat “no-option” patients with atherosclerotic PAD. Minimal residual disease (MRD) has become an essential tool in the management of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and aids in tailoring treatment strategies to suit specific patient needs. Although much progress has been made in this area, there is limited data on the use of MRD in the Indian context. Our objective was to identify relevant literature that discusses the utility of MRD in the management of B-cell ALL in adolescents and young adults (AYA) and adults in Indian settings. A systematic search and screening of articles were performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. The primary data source was PubMed followed by Google Scholar for articles and conference proceedings. Of the 254 records screened, 24 records were retained for analysis. MRD monitoring had a significant role in the management of AYA/adult B-cell ALL patients. Variability of results was observed across these studies with respect to methods, techniques, and use. However, these studies evidenced and validated the importance of MRD assessment in risk-adapted management of B-cell ALL and highlighted the need for optimization. The advances in MRD diagnostics and applications are yet to be tested and adopted in Indian settings. Hence, there is a need for in-depth research to develop and optimize approaches for calibrating country-specific management strategies. The potential role of MRD assessments in anticipating relapse or treatment failures warrants more attention for the preemptive positioning of novel strategies involving immunotherapies.

Dermatophytosis is one of the most common superficial infections of the skin affecting nearly one-fifth of the world population at any given time. With nearly 30% of worldwide terbinafine-resistance cases in Trichophyton mentagrophytes/Trichophyton interdigitale and Trichophyton rubrum reported from India in recent years, there is a significant burden of the emerging drug resistance epidemic on India. Here, we carry out a comprehensive retrospective analysis of dermatophytosis in India using 1038 research articles pertaining to 161,245 cases reported from 1939 to 2021. We find that dermatophytosis is prevalent in all parts of the country despite variable climatic conditions in different regions. Our results show T. rubrum as the most prevalent until 2015, with a sudden change in dermatophyte spectrum towards T. mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale complex since then. We also carried out an 18S rRNA-based phylogenetics and an average nucleotide identity-and single nucleotide polymorphism-based analysis of available whole genomes and find very high relatedness among the prevalent dermatophytes, suggesting geographic specificity. The comprehensive epidemiological and phylogenomics analysis of dermatophytosis in India over the last 80 years, presented here, would help in region-specific prevention, control and treatment of dermatophyte infections, especially considering the large number of emerging resistance cases.
