Background The onset of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) has been shown to be associated with several immunological conditions such as infections or atopy. The aim of this study was to clarify the risk of chronic fatigue syndrome following the diagnosis of psoriasis, an immune-related dermatological disease, by analyzing the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan. Method 2616 patients aged 20 years or older with newly diagnosed psoriasis during 2004–2008 and 10,464 participants without psoriasis were identified. Both groups were followed up until the diagnoses of CFS were made at the end of 2011. Results The relationship between psoriasis and the subsequent risk of CFS was estimated through Cox proportional hazards regression analysis, with the incidence density rates being 2.27 and 3.58 per 1000 person-years among the non-psoriasis and psoriasis populations, respectively (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] = 1.48, with 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07–2.06). In the stratified analysis, the psoriasis group were consistently associated with a higher risk of CFS in male sex (HR = 2.05, 95% CI 1.31–3.20) and age group of ≥ 60 years old (HR = 2.32, 95% CI 1.33–4.06). In addition, we discovered that the significantly increased risk of CFS among psoriasis patients is attenuated after they receive phototherapy and/or immunomodulatory drugs. Conclusions The data from this population-based retrospective cohort study revealed that psoriasis is associated with an elevated risk of subsequent CFS, which is differentiated by sex and age.

A scheme is presented to realize the controlled teleportation of an unknown three dimensional (3D) two-particle state by using a non-maximally entangled two-particle state and a non-maximally entangled three-particle state in the 3D space as the quantum channels, and one of the particles in the channels is used as the controlled particle. Analysis shows that when the quantum channels are of maximal entanglement, namely the channels are composed of a 3D Bell state and a 3D GHZ state, the total success probability of the controlled teleportation can reach 1. And this scheme can be expanded to control the teleportation of an unknown D-dimensional two-particle state.

A new aqueous chemical growth method for generation of ZnO flowerlike and spindlelike nanostructures, transformed from layered basic zinc acetate (LBZA) nanobelts, is developed. The novel as-synthesized ZnO flowerlike and spindlelike nanostructures are mainly due to the pH. They are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The X-ray diffraction peaks indicate that these ZnO nanostructures prefer to grow along the C-axis. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements show that the ZnO flowerlike nanostructures have strong ultraviolet (UV) emission properties at 380 nm, while no defect-related visible emission can be detected. The good performance for photoluminescence emission makes the ZnO flowerlike nanostructures to be promising candidates for photonic and electronic device applications.

After analyzing the regulation of overflow ecological water consumption in the Canmrik ecological area of mainstream zone of the Tarim River, in this paper a model of ecological bifurcation is developed, the dynamic overflow process of ecological bifurcation is simulated, and the quantitative relationships between the volume of ecological water consumption and the ecological conservation extent and overflow time are analyzed using GIS, advance of freshet and RS means. The results reveal that the effects of discharge and time of ecological bifurcation on the efficiency of ecological water consumption are significant, there is a geometrical exponential relationship between the efficiency of ecological bifurcation and the water supply with different discharges and different times under the same ecological water consumption, hypsography plays an important role in ecological water consumption, the regulation of ecological water consumption cannot be equated with the ordinary farming irrigation system, a serious water waste will result and the prospective ecological benefits will not be able to be achieved if an ordinary ecological bifurcation is implemented. The efficiency of ecological water consumption can be increased by 30% by selecting the bifurcation schemes in an optimized way, which is of the utmost importance for arid areas with shortage of water resources.
