Sustainable Smart Manufacturing (SSM) has played an important role in current competitive business environment. Manufacturing organizations generate waste and environmental pollution through various manufacturing process. This research presents the development of TOPSIS based model for sustainable smart manufacturing practices in Indian industries. TOPSIS method gives an order of preference based on the separation from ideal solution. This paper provides suggestions and directions for manufacturing industries to implement sustainable smart manufacturing practices towards sustainable competitiveness. This research is very much useful for the industry people for selecting the right enabler to implement SSM in the organization.

In recent years, study on natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites has been extensive due to their strength and reduced weight. Natural fibers are also eco-friendly, have a reduced carbon footprint in the environment, biodegradable, low cost of production and are cheap as compared to synthetic fibers. Reuse of the waste natural fiber is a sustainable option for the environment. Although these properties make natural fiber a substitute in practical applications above synthetic fibers, their affinity toward water and improper matrix interface bonding is a major concern toward their use in many applications. Due to the above reasons, the use of synthetic fiber comes into play. Synthetic fibers do not encounter these problems but are non-biodegradable and cost more than natural fibers. Therefore, a lot of time has been spent on research and development of hybrid composites. These hybrid composites utilize both natural and synthetic fibers in such a way to get best possible solutions. Present work focuses on these hybrid composites, their production, properties and where they lack.

The global supply chain has become more complex in recent years, and the advent of artificial intelligence tools is set to improve the functioning of supply chain. This paper examines the effect of artificial intelligence tools on key parameters of supply chain such as cost, quality, pace, reliability, and sustainability. The Blockchain, the internet of things, the big data technologies, and the machine learning are the new potential enablers of sustainable manufacturing supply chain. This study reviews the current state-of-art research efforts and provides a systematic overview of the current and potential research directions to recognize the market trend in the adoption of these new technologies and some of the challenges as well.

In the current competitive world, the digitization of biogas plants is much needed. This can be achieved by employing the most modern technologies in the biogas plant. In the traditional biogas plant, the process is uncontrolled, and the efficiency of the model is low as it requires high inputs and the chances of leakage of gas are high. To overcome these issues, Industry 4.0 practices are implemented to improve the efficiency of the system. This paper is focused on the modification of the existing biogas plant. In the modified biogas plant, a closed chamber with the help of a gate valve is developed that closed the digester with no leakage of gas and add safety features to the process. In the proposed design, heat efficiency has been significantly improved and produced optimum methane gas during the winter session. In the proposed automated plant, human work has been optimized.

In India, apart from having huge population, it has limited skilled workers. The handling of organic waste requires a lot of care since it may lead to unwanted diseases if not properly handled. This research study employs a modern approach of Industry 4.0 in order to eliminate human intervention in the process of production using advanced concepts and IoT devices. It is proposed to use the old technique of producing biogas from organic waste and combines it with modern techniques to make an efficient and reliable process and supporting the nation’s most crucial requirement of energy. It can be concluded that the proposed work may help the nation’s sanitation and sustainable development initiative.

In the present conditions, Industry 4.0-enabled sustainable manufacturing practices can affect whole business system by methods for changing the techniques the things are organized, made, passed on and discarded. Industry 4.0 is reasonably novel to making nations, especially in India and necessities an obvious definition for fitting understanding and practice in business. Sustainable additive manufacturing technologies have removed many of the manufacturing restrictions that may previously have compromised a designer’s ability to make the product they imagined which, once again, can increase product desirability, pleasure, and attachment. As additive manufacturing technologies evolve, design methodologies for lightweighting, such as topology optimization, become more advanced, more new materials become available, and multiple material technologies, are developed, and the field of product design has the potential for great change. This research shows the key enablers of sustainable additive manufacturing. DEMATEL techniques are used to prioritize the key enablers.

Adoption of sustainable manufacturing has become a critical issue in the present manufacturing scenario for Indian pharmaceutical industries. At present, pharmaceutical industries among the world are interested to become sustainable in order to cover all three aspects environmental, social and economic. There are number of practices which have been done in pharmaceutical industries among the world to achieve the sustainability. The present study focuses on the development of fuzzy-ISM model for barriers which affect the sustainability in pharmaceutical industries of Himachal Pradesh. In the first stage of this study, survey methodology is adopted for the data collection from pharmaceutical industries of Himachal Pradesh, and after that, fuzzy-ISM model is developed.

In the last few years, the demand of energy over the globe is increasing at the rapid rate due to the rapid growth in industrialization in developing countries. The global energy scenario is changing day by day, and developing nations like Bangladesh and India are contributing a great share in the development of energy scenario. In Bangladesh, renewable energy share is only 3% out of its total energy consumption and production and now Government of Bangladesh is promoting the renewable energy projects in order to promote the renewable energy trend and sustainability in Bangladesh. Being a developing country, the electric power required in Bangladesh has been expanding at an essentially high rate. This requirement is fulfilled by the continued development in GDP as of late. The electricity generation of Bangladesh is now fulfilling the demand of electricity of its neighbor countries as well as its small towns. One-third of power generation in Bangladesh depends on the expensive fossil fuels which are imported from other countries and developed nations. The electricity generation in Bangladesh from fossil fuels affects the sustainability of nation and also results in high carbon emissions which is still a cause of worry. The rest 65% of power generation in Bangladesh depends on the natural gas resources which is depleting at the very fast rate, and there will be no future reservation of these resources. There is a need of renewable sources of energy which can fulfill the power demands of towns as well as industries of Bangladesh. Many studies have been done on the factors, drivers and barriers in renewable energy in Bangladesh. This study focuses on the current scenario and future scopes of renewable energy in Bangladesh. An extensive literature survey is taken for this study from the various databases like Elsevier, Springer and Web of Science. Further, future research directions are also given which will motivate the researchers to promote the renewable energy trend in Bangladesh. A brief outline of current electricity generation status and renewable energy source situations in Bangladesh has been presented in this paper.

The safeguarding of sensitive information has always been the mission of researchers and cryptographers since time immemorial. People all around the world have always felt the dire need to establish and ensure information security, i.e., to ascertain that crucial and confidential information is kept secure from any unwanted access and/or attack. Moreover, it is also necessary to provide access to confidential data to legitimate and authentic users after confirming login credentials. Cryptography is a well-known technique for maintaining confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation of messages, whereby the sender encrypts the plain text to generate ciphertext, sends it across a communication medium which on the receipt is decrypted by the authentic receiver. This paper proposes a novel cross-media encryption-cum-obfuscation technique where the encryption technique will obfuscate itself by changing its media. To simulate the proposed obfuscation technique in the real world, a specific hardware setup is requisite at both the terminals. So, the transmitter and receiver hardware circuitry is smartly designed to dynamically change the signatures and achieve enhanced security. Thus, it can be said that the proposed technique is robust against the traditional cryptanalysis methods and can ensure information security by obfuscating the data.

As per researchers, “AI research” is defined as the study of intelligent agents, where an intelligent agent is any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of successfully achieving its goals. Through this paper, we are proposing IntelliNet, which is an Intelligence Delivery Network (IDN). The objective of such a network is to infect intelligence into all the objects or devices which will be connected with the network. The prime reason behind infecting intelligence and not injecting it into any object is that here the source intelligence system not only delivers intelligence to the object but also senses all types of possible events for gathering knowledge in order to infect other objects as well, thereby making ordinary devices smart and intelligent.

Text mining is the process of extracting and/or deriving high-quality information from unstructured text by properly structuring the raw text. The structured texts serve as ideal candidates for revealing the syntactic and semantic interpretations encapsulated in them. To do so, we need to employ different methods of text mining and text analytics. Text Analytics deals with the objective of evaluating and assessing text by the application of natural language processing and other linguistic-oriented analytical methods. Text-based sentiment analysis aims to determine the attitude and sentimental state of an author by analysing different tokens of the texts in terms of their polarity. The aim of this paper is to propose a hybrid Lexicon-based sentiment and behaviour prediction system which can help one to comprehend the sentimental as well as the behavioural context of the author. We have used two sets of lexicons, viz. SenticNet 4.0 Lexicon and our own manually created Profile Lexicon in order to assess the input text and to predict the sentiment conveyed by the text as well as to identify the behaviour of the author. Our system works fairly in case of predicting both sentiment and behaviour by offering an accuracy of approximately 90%. Such a system has immense potential in identifying the real intention of an author once the behavioural and sentimental patterns of an author are predicted consummately.

Industry 4.0 uses cyber-physical systems (CPS), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and cloud data sharing to develop intelligent manufacturing systems. The Indian industries under the patronage of national and local government initiatives like Make in India and Digital India are looking forwards to adopting best in class manufacturing infrastructure to support the changing industrial environment and utilize the immense opportunities ahead. For this purpose, Industry 4.0 will play a vital role in achieving manufacturing competitiveness. This paper is an attempt to evaluate the key challenges of Industry 4.0 in the Indian context. A decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach is used to establish relations between the key challenges.

Developing countries like India are facing a predicament scenario because of the solid waste and hence its management is becoming a critical issue. As urbanization is increasing, enhanced municipal solid waste and its unscientific handling are degrading the urban environment and causing health hazard. Various methods like landfilling (major source of methane (CH4) emissions), incineration, composting have been used, but due to too slow operation, these processes have not fully satisfied the growing needs of the waste management. In this paper, we have shown that how CO2 emissions can be prevented from a coal-fired thermal power plant in Delhi, if a better method, i.e., plasma arc gasification (PAG) process is used for waste management and power generation using the municipal solid waste generated in the city, which is the need of the hour. The plasma gasification process ensures close loop cycle, thereby reducing the pollutants from the air. We have done a complete analysis of waste generation and emission production, and it is concluded that by this approach we can reduce major pollutants causing global warming due to municipal solid waste. In the present work, we have calculated that technology based on CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) like plasma arc gasification is implemented large amount of carbon dioxide emission can be prevented in addition to power generation that could suffice the energy need of the city.

The objective of this paper is to fabricate a system for press line that allows for real-time sorting of parts with defects caused by process variation. Despite high investment and advanced technology, defects like thinning, cracks and wrinkles are still common in products in the sheet metal forming industries. Variation of the process parameter is an unavoidable reality resulting in heavy investment in process control technologies like adaptive control and closed-loop systems. The limitations of a control system mandate an inspection line post-production. With this scheme, the dependence of product quality on the effectiveness of the inspection line can be reduced. The project that was undertaken herein mainly focuses on design and fabrication of online inspection measurement system which is used to monitor the process parameters-alignment, uneven force distribution and non-uniform pneumatic pressure. Comparison of real-time values is done with ideal value of process parameters to check variation of values in the press line. The readings on GUI of MATLAB show the exact parameters of the system at particular instants through which estimation of the reason for defect and an exact number of defective pieces can be found. The experiments affirmed the importance of process parameters in the consistency of quality through the feedback from sensors. The scheme can successfully reduce both producer and consumer risk. Savings in space, time, manpower and capital in inspection system can also be achieved.

The domain of image processing has been very popular among researchers since a very long time. It is a well-known fact that there are myriad objectives that can be met with this subject. Through this paper, we are proposing a novel technique whereby we will train our system by processing images on a two-dimensional plane and subsequently produce a resultant three-dimensional view of an image. We have attained this transformation through cross-dimensional image processing by studying, understanding and analyzing the various attributes and properties of an image. This cross-dimensional image processing technique explores the existing digital image processing domain where the inputted 2D image is mapped to produce a 3D view of the image in 3D space.

The ongoing digital era is witnessing and endorsing online transactions and information exchange at the speed of light. But the increasing number of hackers and social engineers has made the digital environment susceptible and vulnerable to intrusion and attack. Also, because of the dearth of advanced security models, maintaining security and protecting integrity of sensitive information is at stake. What the world needs now is a robust and reliable security model to establish information security and secure all digital transactions. Through this project work, we are introducing an artificially intelligent chatbot that will provide a user with the menu for choosing an appropriate encryption method (out of AES, DES, RC2, and hybrid methods) for securing his/her crucial information. The proposed idea of a firewall-based advanced digital locker for authenticating user’s digital signature before allowing access to the encrypted files provides the authorized user with a sense of more robustness, reliability, and a higher level of security.

Our modern life has been influenced in myriad ways by the Internet and digital technologies along with its every ameliorating advancement. But its omnipresence has consequently turned out be a boon for cyber attackers and intruders. The colossal impact of the Internet and the widespread growth of E-business have cleared the way for cyber fraudulence whereby attackers tend to target various public agencies especially the employees of Call Centre. The intruders have been using various techniques and tools of Social Engineering for the purpose of security breach and data leakage. This paper proposes a Social Engineering Attack Detection and Data Protection Model which can be used by the employees of any agency to not only detect the social engineering attacks but also to protect their files containing sensitive data and information from an attacker. Hence, this model will be very helpful and effective in resisting the attacker from manipulating himself or herself, in ensuring data protection and in safeguarding the security of employees.

Web browsing analysis is an emerging task to find the user’s behaviour during surfing of Internet. The individual session logs are observed and identified to authenticate and verify the intruders from normal users. While moving from one website to another website, the users will leave the digital footprints used to track the users’ interesting information which may assist the stakeholders about online advertising and the users’ sentimental analysis. A session log is a source for investigating an individual during a digital crime. Semantic forensics is novel investigation scheme employed to verify a users’ behaviour while browsing the Web, as it is a huge repository of information. In this paper, semantic forensics which is a new branch of forensic science is introduced and gives a clear-cut view about how the behavioural pattern of a user influence the semantic forensics. It also analyses the results by considering the sample database related to dark Web communication and explains how a session log can be accessed with the help of various phases in Cognitive Predictive Task (CPT).

The impact of the search engines has grown along with World Wide Web and it becomes the central role for the knowledge engineering. Semantic Web offers a pathway to process the knowledge and the enormous data from the documents on the Web which comprise semi-structured data. This paper proposes some strategies for execution of the queries on the Web of data to repossess the knowledge and information by the Web search engines. Natural language processing will be applied to convert the natural language queries to formal syntax to retrieve the semantics and pragmatics of the data from the existed ontologies on the Web to provide accurate information to users.

Natural language understanding is a principal segment of natural language processing in semantic analysis to the use of pragmatics to originate meaning from context. Information retrieval (IR) is one of the emerging areas to deal with enormous amounts of data, which are in the form of natural language. Content of the query posed will affect both volume of data and design of IR applications. This paper presents a cognition-applied methodology termed as High-Performance Linguistics (HPL), which is a question-answering system for interpreting a natural language sentence/query. It constitutes three phases of computations: parsing, triplet generation and triplet mapping/matching. The generation of the triplets for the knowledge base is to create new data and compare them with that of stored triplets in the database. Thus, the generation of the cognitive question-answering system can make easy using this machine learning techniques on the generated triplet database.

A new technique is proposed for the enhancement of security against the eavesdropper in Optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) Spectral amplitude coding (SAC) System. This technique is the combination of real and virtual user’s spectral chip, according to the newly developed Zero cross correlation code. The define sequence assign to virtual users, is complement to each other in a group of two users. Probability of code detection of individual user decreases due to virtual user and complement of defined sequence of virtual user, removes the occurrence of single user’s code in the channel. The simulation and analytical results show that the proposed scheme has a better performance than existing methods.
