Abstract

Gait is very important to identify person from distance. It requires very less interaction with human participants. Gait is considered the popularly known visual identification technique. The major challenges associated with gait-based person identification are high variability, gait occlusion, pose and speed variance and uniform gait cycle detection, etc. In this research work, the CASIA-A, B and C data set is explored for the view, cloth and speed invariant person identification to address the challenged associated with gait-based person identification. In this work, the very important technique of computer vision for object identification is being explored. It included feature extraction techniques, namely gait energy image(GEI) for cloth invariance, histogram of gradients(HOG) for multiview invariance and Zernike moment with random transform for crossview invariance. To classify data, SVM, ANN and XGBoost-based machine learning algorithms are used on the CASIA gait data set and achieved 99, 96 and 67% identification accuracy, respectively, for three different scenarios of invariance, i.e. speed, cloth and pose.

Abstract

Violence is typically seen as a public health and social problem. Therefore, it has become more and more crucial to develop a technology-based application to tackle with this problem. Then, a question coming up is how to detect violent behaviors in video surveillance. In this study, we propose a deep neural network by using the pre-trained model—Darknet19 combined with convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) deep learning models. The spatial features are extracted by pre-trained model Darknet19. Training our CNN model based on spatial features will get the temporal features. Then, these features are fed to the LSTM to classify the video-based activities into specific categories (violence or non-violence behaviors). The experiments are conducted on Hockey Fight dataset, and the accuracy score is used to evaluate our model. By combination of the superior features of our own CNN and LSTM models, our proposed model has obtained encouraging experimental results much more than the others.

Abstract

With the rapid growth of social networks and e-commerce, aspect-based sentiment analysis has gradually become a vital tool to analyze and evaluate the customers’ feedback through social networking platforms or online sales websites. We could capture the customer insights as well as political opinions and predict the future social trend by analyzing the customer feedback in terms of aspects. In this research, we propose a hybrid deep learning method to solve the aspect detection problem. The aspect detection is the task to identify of the entity E and attribute A pairs expressed in the text. This model combines the advantages of each of the convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) methods, in which CNN works well in extracting spatial features, while LSTM works effectively in data classification. Experimental results on the Vietnamese VLSP 2018 dataset show that the proposed method achieves better results than the previous research methods if it only relies on a single method.

Abstract

Hand gesture recognition systems are used as an interface between computers and humans. An electronic machine capable of recognizing various types of hand gestures is easily operable using natural languages. This way of controlling a device is much more intuitive and effortless as compared to using a touch screen, manipulating a mouse or remote control, tweaking a knob or pressing a switch. This paper presents a dynamic hand gesture-based password recognition system which uses feed-forward back-propagation neural networks. The uniqueness of this system lies in the fact that it would use an ordinary low-cost webcam (built into the laptop) rather than a high-resolution Kinect camera. The advantage of using such a camera is that this software can be integrated as a security tool into everyday electronic devices such as laptops and smart phones. This can provide an additional layer of protection to security devices when combined with other security tools such as alphanumeric passwords, biometric passwords, etc. To fulfill this objective, this work uses Octave as well as a built-in laptop webcam. The obtained results show the best accuracy of 100% for the training dataset and average accuracy of 96.16% for the testing dataset. Additionally, the minimum cost function value chosen for training the samples came out as 3.556e−01.

Abstract

In this research article, we have reported periodic cellular automata rules for different gait state prediction and classification of the gait data using Extreme Machine Leaning (ELM). This research is the first attempt to use cellular automaton to understand the complexity of bipedal walk. Due to nonlinearity, varying configurations throughout the gait cycle and the passive joint located at the unilateral foot-ground contact in bipedal walk resulting variation of dynamic descriptions and control laws from phase to phase for human gait is making difficult to predict the bipedal walk states. We have designed the cellular automata rules which will predict the next gait state of bipedal steps based on the previous two neighbor states. We have designed cellular automata rules for normal walk. The state prediction will help to correctly design the bipedal walk. The normal walk depends on next two states and has total eight states. We have considered the current and previous states to predict next state. So we have formulated 16 rules using cellular automata, eight rules for each leg. The priority order maintained using the fact that if right leg in swing phase then left leg will be in stance phase. To validate the model we have classified the gait Data using ELM (Huang et al. Proceedings of 2004 IEEE international joint conference on neural networks, vol 2. IEEE, 2004, [1]) and achieved accuracy 60%. We have explored the trajectories and compares with another gait trajectories. Finally we have presented the error analysis for different joints.
