Abstract

Ultrafiltration of a colloidal suspension, an oil-water emulsion, was investigated in a pilot-plant apparatus with tubular membrane modules. A model presented in the literature for describing the permeation rate based on the Hagen-Poiseuille equation was used and modified. A method was developed for estimating fluxes utilizing a small amount of experimental data and using a parameter estimation procedure based on simulation.
