Rad predstavlja kulturno-povijesne spomenike Gorskog kotara i Like, a cilj rada je da se prikaže kulturna baština koja nikada neće izgubiti svoju vrijednost. Rad se sastoji od pet poglavlja, a u samom uvodu je opisano o čemu će se govoriti. Prvo poglavlje govori o najvažnijim kulturno-povijesnim spomenicima Gorskog kotara. Odabrano je njih sedam, a među njih se ubrajaju i spomenici NOB-a. Drugo poglavlje govori o sakralnim objektima u Gorskom kotaru. Postoji mnogo malih zavjetnih crkava koje se nalaze gotovo u svakom naselju. Treće poglavlje govori o poznatom književniku i manifestaciji „Goranovo proljeće“. Naime, radi se o književnoj manifestaciji koja se održava svake godine krajem ožujka u Lukovdolu, rodnom mjestu Ivana Gorana Kovačića. Manifestacija okuplja velik broj pjesnika iz svih krajeva Hrvatske. Četvrto poglavlje opisuje kulturno-povijesne spomenike Like. Neki od najpoznatijih su Memorijalni centar Nikole Tesle i Spomen dom Ante Starčevića. Zadnje poglavlje se bavi sakralnim objektima na području Like. Jedno od poznatijih je Svetište Majke Božje od Krasna. Crkve su uglavnom i danas u funkciji. Sačuvane su, ali neke od njih je uništilo vrijeme i kasnije se nisu mogle obnoviti. Bogata kulturna baština Gorskog kotara i Like stvara temelj za razvoj proizvoda kulturnog turizma koji se ubraja u posebne oblike turizma. Na kraju rada se nalazi popis korištenih izvora i slika. This paper presents the cultural and historical monuments of Gorski Kotar and Lika with the aim of showcasing the cultural heritage of a value that is never to diminish. The paper consists of five chapters, with the introduction giving the main outline of the paper itself. The first chapter depicts the most important cultural and historical monuments of Gorski Kotar. A total of seven sites have been chosen, among which there are monuments commemorating National Liberation Struggle. The second chapter is dedicated to Gorski Kotar sacral relics, given the fact that numerous small votive churches can be found in almost each rural settlement all over the area. It is the notable writer Ivan Goran Kovačić and the renowned Goran’s Spring poetry event that the third chapter focuses on. Every year at the end of March the event takes place in Lukovdol, the birthplace of Kovačić, bringing together a vast number of poets from all parts of Croatia. The fourth chapter depicts the cultural and historical monuments of Lika, with the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre and Ante Starčević Memorial House being among the most prominent ones. The Lika region sacral relics are presented in the last chapter, among which The Shrine of Our Lady of Krasno stands out as one of Croatia’s most visited shrines. The churches are by far serving their main purpose to this very day, being quite wellpreserved. Yet, some of them have not stood the test of time, nor has their rebuilding been attainable so far. What sets out the basis for the development of cultural tourism, an invaluable type of tourism of its own, is the rich cultural heritage of Gorski Kotar and Lika. The final part of the paper presents the Bibliography.

Narodni običaji predstavljaju jednu od glavnih sastavnica identiteta pojedinih naroda. Njihov značaj vidljiv je kroz njihovo postojanje i očuvanje dugi niz godina. Običaji su podložni neprestanim promjenama, ali njihov temelj ostao je nepromijenjen; temelje se na usmenoj predaji, tradiciji i narodnim vjerovanjima koji se prenose generacijama. Narodni običaji obuhvaćaju životne (obiteljske), godišnje (blagdanske) i radne (gospodarske) običaje. Te vrste zastupljene su u svim segmentima čovjekova života, a ponajviše u ruralnim sredinama. Ljudi su od davnina pokušavali pronaći različite načine kako bi obilježili, ali i zaštitili važne događaje i ljude u svojim životima. Običaji su prepuni magijskih vjerovanja i rituala koji služe u prethodno navedene svrhe. Zaštita trudnice, djeteta, stoke i usjeva te božićni, pokladni, korizmeni i uskršnji običaji, samo su neki od narodnih običaja koji se detaljnije obrađuju u ovome diplomskom radu. Stoljetna tradicija stvaranja novih i njegovanja starih narodnih običaja postala je simbolom hrvatskog naroda i čitave zajednice. Posebnost prostora Republike Hrvatske očituje se u postojanju narodnih običaja specifičnih i jedinstvenih za ovaj prostor. Sveukupna nematerijalna baština, običaji, vjerovanja i tradicija, ključni su za stvaranje budućnosti koja korijene vuče iz davne prošlosti. Folk customs are one of the main components of the identity of particular nations. Their significance is visible through their existence and preservation throughout many years. Customs are subject to constant change but their foundation has remained unchanged; they are based on the oral tradition of storytelling, traditions and folk beliefs passed down from generation to generation. Folk customs include life (family), annual (holidays) and work (economic) customs. They are present in all segments of human life, especially in rural areas. People have, for a long time, tried to find different ways to mark but also protect important events and people in their lives. The customs are full of magical beliefs and rituals that serve for the above-mentioned purposes. The protection of pregnant women, children, livestock and crops, as well as Christmas, carnival, Lent and Easter customs, are just some of the folk customs discussed in more detail throughout this thesis. The century-old tradition of creating new and nurturing old folk customs has become a symbol of the Croatian people and the entire community. The uniqueness of the territory of the Republic of Croatia is reflected in the existence of folk customs that are specific and unique for this area. Overall, intangible heritage, customs, beliefs and traditions are crucial for the creation of a future that has its roots in the ancient past.

Ovaj rad govori o kulturno-povijesnom pregledu Kastavštine, bogatom i zanimljivom nasljeđu i povijesnoj epohi koja danas svoju povijest održava živom preko kulturnog turizma i očuvanjem tradicije. Opisani su neki od brojnih mitova, legendi i obreda koji su Kastavcima ostavljeni u nasljeđe kao dio kulturnog identiteta. U prvom dijelu rada definira se nematerijalna baština, objašnjava njezin pojam, značenje, zaštita i očuvanje. Nematerijalnoj se baštini sve više pridaje pažnje i vrijednosti jer s odmicanjem od jednostavnijih i sporijih vremena, a prihvaćanjem površnosti i prolaznosti sadašnjice, još uvijek vapimo za izvorima našeg kulturnog identiteta. Kulturna baština ovoga grada neiscrpan je izvor turističke ponude kojom danas Kastav oživljava svoj povijesni značaj. U drugom djelu opisuje se povijest Kastavštine. Njezina sadržajna i kompleksna povijest bila je plodno tlo za stvaranje bogate kulturne baštine. Centralni dio ovog rada koncentriran je na mitove i legende s područja Kastavštine koji čine važan dio bogate kastavske nematerijalne baštine i tradicije. Mitovi i legende izazivaju znatiželju i daju dozu mističnosti određenom vremenu, prostoru i društvu. Legende i predaje oplemenjuju ljude jer se kroz njih vidi duša naroda. Njihova osebujnost i maštovitost predstavlja veliku vrijednost tradicijske kulture, posebno za očuvanje vlastitog identiteta. Predstavljaju osnovu mnogim turističkim ponudama kojima Kastav konkurira na sve zahtjevnijem tržištu kulturnog turizma. This paper deals with the cultural and historical overview of the Kastav area, namely, its rich and interesting heritage and historical epoch that is brought to life trough cultural tourism and the preservation of tradition. The text describes a number of myths, legends and rituals, a heritage left to the people of Kastav as part of their cultural identity. In the first part, we define what intangible cultural heritage is, that is, define its meaning, protection and conservation. Ever more attention is being paid to and value given to the intangible cultural heritage, as, with the transitioning from the times of a slower pace that were more uncomplicated to the acceptance of the superficiality and ephemeral character of the times present, we are still yearning to discover the roots of our cultural identity. The cultural heritage of the town of Kastav is an inexhaustible source of the tourist offer, which also serves the noble purpose of revitalising the town’s historical meaning. In the second part of the paper, we describe the history of the Kastav area. Its eventful and complex history was a fertile ground for creating a rich cultural heritage. Myths and legends provoke curiosity and give a dose of mysticism to a specific time, place and society. Legends and oral tradition can ennoble people because they help us understand the very soul of human beings. Their distinctiveness and imaginativeness is of a great value for the tradition culture, especially so with regard to the preservation of people’s identity. Oral tradition is the basis of a number of tourist offers provided by the town of Kastav in competing on the increasingly demanding market of cultural tourism.
