Two genera, Neotegonotus Newkirk & Keifer and Boczekiana Petanovic (Eriophyidae: Phyllocoptinae) are recorded for the first time from Saudi Arabia with two new species; N. saudiensissp. nov. collected from Ficus carica L. (Moraceae) and B. bahahensissp. nov. collected from Anthemis rascheyana Boiss (Asteraceae) described and illustrated based on females. The study reports four new records of phytoseiid mites from the Indian subcontinent. This paper deals with two new species of Torrenticolidae (Acari, Hydrachnidia) from Tibet, P. R. China, i.e., Torrenticola serratiextension Gu & Guo, sp. nov., Monatractides tuberocapitulum Gu & Guo, sp. nov. Meanwhile, the male of T. anziensis Gu & Guo, 2019 is reported for the first time. Megalurothrips usitatus, is an important pest of cowpeas Vigna unguiculata, that causes severe damage to cowpea crops in Southeast Asia and Hainan Province in China. Neoseiulus newsami is a natural enemy of M. usitatus that was first reported from Ledong Li Autonomous County, Hainan, China. Here, we evaluated the potential of N. newsami as a biocontrol agent for use against M. usitatus. In laboratory tests, N. newsami showed a similar rate of attack on this pest as did the better-known species Neoseiulus barkeri. The functional response curve of N. newsami fed M. usitatus showed that more 1st instar prey were consumed by N. newsami at higher prey densities, indicating a Type III functional. The maximum attack coefficient (a) was 0.063 ± 0.011 and the handling time per consumed prey (Th) was 0.58 ± 0.09. The maximum attack rate (T/Th) was 41.37. Neoseiulus newsami showed higher predation and oviposition rates than did N. barkeri or Neoseiulus cucumeris. Our results suggest that N. newsami has a higher predation capacity against M. usitatus. A new species of Cryptognathus, C. deliciosussp. nov., is described from kiwifruit (Actinidiaceae: Actinidia deliciosa) imported from New Zealand on several occasions. The new species is most similar to C. australiensis Luxton, 1973, with which it shares very short dorsal setae. These collections represent two surprising findings. First, that Cryptognathidae, which are usually regarded as edaphic mites associated with damp habitats like moss, also occupy low arboreal habitats. The genus Schwiebea Oudemans (Sarcoptiformes: Acaridae) includes notable agricultural pests that are widely distributed across diverse ecological environments. Despite their economic significance, mites of this genus in Thailand have been insufficiently studied. This research describes a new species, Schwiebea citraesp. nov., collected from the roots of pomelo, Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr., contributing to the broader knowledge of acarid diversity. The present study is based on oribatid mite material collected from litter in highlands bamboo location in Bale Mountains National Park, Southeastern Ethiopia. A list of 35 species belonging to 27 genera and 19 families is presented; of these, Nothrus berlesei and Dolicheremaeus capillatus neonominatus are recorded in Ethiopia for the first time. Two new species—Coronabelba pustulata Ermilov sp. nov. and Suctobelbila quattuor Ermilov sp. nov.—are described. Coronabelba pustulata differs from the other congeneric species by the presence of densely tuberculate dorsal part of the notogaster, bordered by two longitudinal ridges. Suctobelbila quattuor differs from the other congeneric species by the presence of four longitudinal cerotegumental bands represented by sparse granules connected by cerotegumental cords on the notogaster. The fossil representatives of the family Resinacaridae (Acari: Heterostigmata) from the Late Eocene Rovno amber are reviewed. Three new species are described in the genus Resinacarus Vitzthum, namely, R. longipilissp. nov., R. vitzthumisp. nov., and R. striatussp. nov. A new genus and species, Pararesinacarus krczaligen. and sp. nov. are also described. The extant species Pararesinacarus aradii (Krczal) comb. nov. was moved from Resinacarus. All active stages of the extant type species of the genus Resinacarus, R. resinatus Vitzthum, are redescribed based on type material. A key to genera and species of Resinacaridae is also provided. Two new species of mites belonging to the family Parholaspididae are described based on female specimens from China, Gamasholaspis transaduncus Zhang, Xie & Yan sp. nov. from Guangdong Province, and Neparholaspis taishanensis Zhang, Xie & Yan sp. nov. from Shandong Province. Two new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Damaeidae are described, based on adults collected from litter in the wet highland locality in Bale Mountains National Park, southeastern Ethiopia. Coronabelba adiscidialis Ermilov & Kolesnikov sp. nov. differs from the other species of the genus by larger body size, long, rod-like bothridial seta, truncated interlamellar seta, the location of dorsal notogastral setae on the slightly developed tubercles, the presence of 10 setae on leg femur I, and the absence of discidium. Metabelbella baleensis Ermilov & Kolesnikov sp. nov. differs from the other species of the genus by the larger body size, comparatively large tubercle-like parastigmatic tubercle Sa shifted in the epimeral region, and the presence of long, straight thorn-like dorsal notogastral setae. Two new Clathrosperchon (Rhynchohydracaridae: Hydryphantoidea) species were described (Clathrosperchon nunesaesp. nov. and C. bitucaisp. nov.) and tabular and dichotoumous keys to the known Clathrosperchon species based on adults are provided. In addition, the phylogenetic placement of Rhynchohydracaridae was inferred using five molecular markers: COI, 18S, 28S, HSP70 and SRP54, testing previous hypothesis that the family may be more closely related to Neohydrachnidia than Hydryphantoidea due to larval characters. Our results recovered Rhynchohydracaridae nested among Lebertioidea, as sister group to Limnesiidae, and the traditional composition of Hydryphantoidea and Lebertioidea could be rejected based on AU-test. Given the larval characters and the recovered phylogenetic placement of the family, we propose that Rhynchohydracaridae must be included in Neohydrachnidia. This paper represents the first record of Hydrachnidia for the Minas Gerais State, Brazil, and is also the largest dataset of neotropical water mites included in a phylogenetic inference to date. Two new species of Oppiidae are described, based on adults collected from Ethiopia. Arcoppia afroalpina Ermilov sp. nov. differs from its closely related species, A. arcualis arcualis by the morphology of the rostrum, the length and morphology of branches on the bothridial head, and the body size. Helioppia ethiopiaensis Ermilov sp. nov. differs from its closely related species, H. sol by the morphology of the rostrum, the morphology of the bothridial head, the development of the notogastral seta c, the location of the notogastral seta la, the presence of the costula, and longer notogastral setae. New faunistic data on mites of the family Cunaxidae of Asian Russia are provided. A total of 11 species were found, among them four species are described as new for science, namely, Neobonzia scutatasp. nov., Cunaxa palustrissp. nov., C. quinquesetosasp. nov., and Cunaxoides magnificussp. nov. Scirula impressa Berlese is recorded from Russia for the first time and redescribed; Cunaxoides trepidus Kuznetsov and Livshitz recorded from Asian Russia for the first time and redescribed; Armascirus fendai Kalúz and Vrabec and Cunaxoides lootsi Den Heyer are recorded from Russia for the first time; Cunaxa gordeevae Sergeyenko, C. anomala Khaustov and Kuznetsov, and Cunaxoides desertus Kuznetsov and Livshitz are recorded from Asian Russia for the first time. The family Tarsonemidae comprises 51 genera, some of which have been reported on coconut palms, including Fungitarsonemus De Leon, Nasutitarsonemus Beer & Nucifora, Steneotarsonemus Beer and Tarsonemus Canestrini & Fanzago. The genus Tarsonemus consists of approximately 280 species, with only 11 reported in Brazil. During collections of Cocos nucifera L. fruit on the Brazilian coast, four Tarsonemus species were found associated with the perianth of these fruits. Two new species are described, Tarsonemus arrudai França, Araújo & Lofego sp. nov., and T. litoralis França, Araújo & Lofego sp. nov. while the other two species, Tarsonemus pseudokennedyi Ochoa and T. lenticulatus Gheblealivand, Haddad & Magowski, were found for the first time in Brazil, and both are redescribed based on males and females. One new species of eriophyoid mite from China, is described and illustrated, namely: Shevtchenkella radermacherasp. nov. on Radermachera sinica (Hance) Hemsl. (Bignoniaceae). We also found the new host plants of Tetra clerodendriWei, 2003: Clerodendrum fortunatum L. and provided two new combinations—Aculops puerariae (Qin, Wang & Wei, 2008) comb. nov. and Kyllocarus microcarpae (Wang, Wei & Yang, 2009) comb. nov. During the year 2023, Hypericaceae plants were sampled in Iran and two new Aculus species were found on them: Aculus quattuorlaminate Lotfollahi, Jahandideh et Honarmand sp. nov. on Hypericum perforatum L. and Aculus hufarighooni Honarmand, Jahandideh et Lotfollahi sp. nov. on Hypericum scabrum L. Both species were vagrant on their host plants. Five new species of Pavania (Acari: Heterostigmata: Dolichocybidae) phoretic on scarab beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) are described: P. eurysternophilasp. nov. collected on Eurysternus cyclops and E. caribaeus in French Guiana and Brazil; P. tenuisetasp. nov. on Canthon sp. in French Guiana; P. nicaraguaiensissp. nov. on Canthon deyrollei in Nicaragua; P. brevisetosasp. nov. on Canthon humectus in Mexico; and P. lancetosetosasp. nov. on Scarabaeus rugosus in South Africa. The species checklist is the basic data that reflects the species diversity in a country or region. In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the taxonomic study of oribatid mites in China and the 60th anniversary of the Special Committee of Acarology of the Entomological Society of China, and to explore the China's biodiversity, and scientifically answer "how many species and what species are there in China", we compiled a checklist of Chinese oribatid mites, including a total of 1000 species and 35 subspecies in 311 genera and 158 subgenera representing 112 families. In addition, we provided a brief history of taxonomic research on oribatid mites in China in the past 100 years, Chinese name, literature citations and provincial distribution information of each species and subspecies, and a list of species nomina nuda. Four new chigger species, belonging to genera Leeuwenhoekia Oudemans, 1911 (Leeuwenhoekiidae), Colicus Brennan 1970, and Herpetacarus (Vercammen-Grandjean 1960) (Trombiculidae), are described, based on specimens deposited in the Acarological collection at Centro de Coleções Taxonômicas da UFMG, including voucher material for which sequences from multiple genes are available, sampled from Minas Gerais and Amazonas states, Brazil. Leeuwenhoekia berthalutzaesp. nov. was found in association with the rodent Calomys sp. and Oligoryzomys sp., Colicus helenagrecaesp. nov. with the rodent Cerradomys cf. subflavus, Colicus carolinaesp. nov. in cave soil, off-host, and Herpetacarus mariellaesp. nov. in leaf litter, off-host. A new mesostigmatic mite species, Antennseius (Vitzthumia) circumcaspiussp. nov., is described from Russia and Iran on the adult specimens. This soil-dwelling species populates different habitats (including coastal maritime and inner salty grasslands, forest and orchard soil-litter, and moss) in Kalmykia, Dagestan, Kazakhstan, and Iran. The new species is very close to Antennoseius oudemansi (Thor, 1930); A. janusLindquist & Walter, 1989 (granulate form); and A. koroljevaeChelebiev, 1984. All these species compose together a natural group as designated by Chelebiev (1984). Idiosomal integument of most shields and soft cuticle of their adult is tuberculate-granulate. Females of these species are possessed the inversely trapezoidal opisthonotal shield with posterolateral margins usually emarginated; anal shield bearing only three circumanal setae. The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Koch, 1836) (Acari: Tetranychidae) causes significant problems in cotton fields. The pest has developed resistance to abamectin, which is used intensely against spider mite populations. A discriminating dose was applied to T. urticae populations collected from Aydın, Adana, Şanlıurfa, and Diyarbakır provinces between 2019 and 2021, where there is significant cotton production and intensive acaricide applications. Populations with a mortality rate of less than 80% at the discriminating dose applied to field populations were included in the bioassay study. Then, the 10 most resistant populations were determined based on their LC50 and LC90 values. It was observed that there was high resistance (HR) in two T. urticae populations collected from Diyarbakır (DIY28 and DIY2) with LC50 values of 24.5 and 33.81 mg L-1, respectively 113 and 156-fold and one population collected from the province of Aydın (AYD4) LC50 value of 23.5 mg L-1 and 109-fold. As a result of the comparisons with a susceptible population in biochemical studies, it was determined that the carboxylesterase (CarE) enzyme of these populations (except for SAN6, SAN7, SAN8, ADA9, and ADA11) had more than 2-fold higher activity compared to the glutathione enzyme (GST), and they were in statistically different groups. When the GST enzyme activities were examined, it was found that the enzyme activities were generally low, except for the ADA11 and ADA16 populations (3.73 and 2.3-fold). In terms of the target site resistance, it was observed that there was no target site mutation (G314D and I321T-G326E) in the glutamate-gated chloride channels (Units GluCl 1 and 3) in these highest 10 resistant populations. It can be said that the resistance levels determined for abamectin from the obtained populations were determined to be low. In brief, out of the total 44 populations brought in and tested, only 30 populations were considered resistant with a mortality rate below 80% after the applied discriminating dose. It was determined that 6.8% of these 30 populations had HR, 31.8% had medium resistance (MR), and 29.5% had low resistance (LR). When examining by regions, it was found that high resistance populations were more prevalent in Diyarbakır and Aydın (15.4% and 10%, respectively) provinces, while the highest percentage of MR populations was found in Şanlıurfa, at 90%. Abamectin still acts as an effective acaricide. However, it is recommended to use acaricides with different modes of action to prevent possible emergence of resistance cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two new species of TarsonemusCanestrini & Fanzago, 1876—namely Tarsonemus bengalicus Karmakar & Bera sp. nov. and Tarsonemus kajuae Karmakar & Bera sp. nov.—are described and illustrated based on specimens collected on leaves of Bamboo, Bambusa vulgaris Schard. and Cashew, Anacardium occidentale L., respectively from Ramnagar, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. Oribatid mites play a crucial role in nutrient cycling, litter decomposition, and humus formation in the ecosystem. Here, an Illumina HiSeq platform was used to sequence the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of Ceratozetella imperatoria. The mt genome is a circular molecule of 14,229 bp (GenBank number: PP419053), and a total of 37 genes were described. The start codon in all 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) included ATT, ATA, TTG, and ATG, the stop codon of all 13 protein-coding genes was TAA, TAG, and single T. The AT skew and GC skew were 0.153 and 0.263 observed across the whole mt genome of Ceratozetella imperatoria. Besides the negative AT skew in PCGs, rRNA and CR, positive AT skew and GC skew were detected in the remaining components. A phylogenetic tree of 29 mite species was constructed using PCGs by the maximum likelihood method. Two new species of the genus Eotetranychus are described from the Huaping National Nature Reserve, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Eotetranychus delphinussp. nov. was collected from Schizophragma integrifolium Oliv. (Hydrangeaceae); E. enpeiisp. nov. was collected from Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Pers (Lauraceae). We also provide COI sequence data of these two new species: E. delphinussp. nov. (GenBank accession numbers PP582994) and E. enpeiisp. nov. (GenBank accession numbers PP582995). Of the 44 species within the genus Dermacentor (Acari: Ixodidae) worldwide, nine are found in the Neotropics and four are endemic to this region. In Colombia, located in the northwestern corner of South America, there are two species of the genus: Dermacentor imitans restricted to the trans-Andean Pacific region, and Dermacentor nitens widely distributed in the country. Elsewhere, D. nitens is found in both the Nearctic and Neotropics, from southern USA to northern Argentina. In the Neotropics, D. nitens is widely distributed including records in Caribbean islands. Molecular analyses of D. nitens collected in the Amazon region of Colombia have shown genetic differences with specimens from other localities of the country, although morphological differences have not been explored. We performed morphological and molecular comparisons of individuals from two natural regions of Colombia: the Orinoquia, and the Amazon. The morphological and morphometric results show that females and males are grouped in two morphotypes: morphotype I from the Orinoquia region, and morphotype II from Leticia in the Amazon region. The molecular analyses supported the morphological results and showed the formation of two well-differentiated sister clades within D. nitens, with divergences between both morphotypes of 3–4% and 5–6% for the 16S rRNA and COI genes, respectively. Species delimitation analyzes and the Poisson Tree Processes model tentatively suggest the presence of two species within the sequences associated with D. nitens in Colombia. The first represented by the sequences from the Orinoquia region evaluated here, together with sequences from other regions of Colombia and other Neotropical countries such as Brazil, Panama, and French Guiana. The second is represented by the sequences of individuals from Leticia, in the Amazon region of Colombia. The results highlight that D. nitens might represent a species complex, but further sampling, experimental crosses, and studies at the level of complete genomes should be performed to obtain additional evidence for species recognition. Abrolophus boleticolussp. nov. and Marantelophus kastamonuensissp. nov. are described and illustrated from larvae collected from the wild, edible mushrooms, Boletus aereus (Boletaceae) and Marasmius oreades (Marasmiaceae), respectively, in Türkiye. Both of these erythraeid genera, which belong to the subfamily Abrolophinae, have comb-like seta on the palptarsus. Amblyomma multipunctum is a poorly known Neotropical tick (Acari, Ixodidae) described in 1899. It has been found associated with large mammals such as tapirs (Tapirus), and the Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus). Males, females and nymphs have been described; however, the larvae of the species remain unknown. Valid records for A. multipunctum are few and limited to three countries in northwestern South America: Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. In the present work, two partially engorged nymphs of A. multipunctum parasitizing the northern pudu, Pudu (Pudella) mephistophiles, were collected near to the Puracé National Natural Park, Department of Cauca, Colombia. Ticks were identified by morphology, with diagnostic characters such as scutum with multiple punctuations, two separate spurs in coxa I (the external being longer than the internal), a small triangular spur in coxae II–IV, spiracular plate triangular with rounded angles and a vestigial prolongation in article I of the palps. In addition, the taxonomical identity was validated using molecular evidence by PCR amplification of a fragment of the 16S rDNA gene, showing an identity percentage of 100% comparing with sequences in GenBank for A. multipunctum. This study reports the first association of A. multipunctum with P. mephistophiles, the extension of geographical distribution in Colombia, extending its elevational range by 644 m in the country, and contributing to the knowledge of the intraspecific variation of the tick nymph. Two new species of the subgenus Pergalumna (Pergalumna)—P. (P.) araguaensissp. nov. and P. (P.) bispinatasp. nov.—are described, based on adults collected from leaf litter in the Aragua State, Northern Venezuela. Pergalumna (P.) araguaensis differs from the related species P. (P.) espejillosensis by the morphology of the bothridial seta and rostrum, the location of the notogastral porose area Aa and solenidion on the leg tibia IV, the absence of the dorsosejugal porose area. (P.) montana by the body size, the morphology of head of the bothridial seta, the number of the notogastral porose areas, the presence of the median pore, the absence of the postanal porose area and striate ornamentation on the pteromorph. In this study, we described and illustrated two new Aceria species (Eriophyidae: Eriophyinae: Aceriini) associated with the Asteraceae host plants in rangelands of Lahrud and Agh Qal'eh villages, in Meshginshahr county, Ardabil province, Iran. This article examines the infestation patterns of Amblyomma rotundatum ticks on Rhinella ornata toads in two different environments in Southeast Brazil. The study reveals that while the prevalence of tick infestations is higher on toads from oceanic islands, tick abundance and mean intensity of infestation are higher on toads from mainland areas. The researchers suggest that reduced human activity on the islands may result in less altered natural habitats and increased infestation chances, while anthropogenic actions on the mainland may lead to tick re-infestations during toad assemblage. The article also discusses the infestation of A. rotundatum ticks on different species of toads and other animals in Brazil, with Rhinella icterica, Rhinella marina, and Rhinella schneideri being the most commonly infested toad species. Notably, no males of A. rotundatum were found on toads, but instead on a snake, a lizard, and a tortoise. Oribatid mites (Acari, Oribatida) are a large group of soil animals, with small body sizes and complex morphological structures. At present, oribatid mite species identification is essentially based on morphological characters. In this study, we collected 124 specimens of oribatid mites belonging to 110 species of 72 genera in Russia, and extracted their genomic DNA subsequently. In order to investigate whether the molecular data (DNA-barcoding marker, COI gene) and morphological classification results are consistent, we used three methods, ASAP, ABGD and GMYC, to delimit species, and calculate a maximum likelihood tree. The results indicate that COI gene fragments can be effectively used for species delimitation. There are some cryptic species identified in oribatid mites, which do not have distinct morphological differences, but diverge considerably in molecular data. Meanwhile, some formerly unidentified species could be identified through molecular means. The study enriches the molecular data of oribatid mites worldwide and provides the basis for more detailed taxonomic studies of oribatid mites in Russia. In the future, more analyses and mining of molecular data, combined with morphological analyses, will help to reveal and further understand the phylogenetic relationships of Oribatida. A new genus and two new species of the family Eriophyidae (Acari: Eriophyoidea) from medicinal plants, Thailand are described and illustrated. There are Asetapatella ipomoneae gen. nov., sp. nov. on Ipomoea carnea subsp. fistulosa (Mart. ex Choisy) D.F. Austin (Convolvulaceae) and Aceria rotundifolii n. sp., on Mitragyna rotundifolia (Roxb.) Kuntze (Rubiaceae). Asetapatella ipomoneae gen. nov., sp. nov. is vagrant on the lower leaf surface, causing no apparent symptoms to the host plant. Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) bagdasarjani Wainstein & Arutunjan and T. (A.) khosrovensis Arutunjan have been frequently recorded from Iran. While investigating the population dynamics of these two predatory mite species on white mulberry in 2022 and 2023, in Tehran (Iran), our study unveiled intriguing morphological abnormalities and variations. Specifically, variations were observed in the number of dorsal shield solenostomes, insertion of ventrianal setae, shape of spermatheca and length of peritreme. New material of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from the Uttarakhand State of India is reported. Ten species are identified, among which Sperchon (Hispidosperchon)rostratus Lundblad, 1969 is reported for the first time for India and two species, i.e. Monatractides smiti (Torrenticolidae) and Atractides uttarakhandensis (Hygrobatidae) are described as new to science. One sample collected in standing water in Uttar Pradesh State revealed the presence of three Arrenurus species, of which A. Five new Glossilus species of eriophyoid mites from China are described and illustrated. They are Glossilus lanceolatussp. nov. on Cunninghamia lanceolata (Cupressaceae), Glossilus hodginsussp. nov. on Chamaecyparis hodginsii (Cupressaceae), Glossilus obtusussp. nov. on Chamaecyparis obtusa (Cupressaceae), Glossilus procumbenussp. nov. on Juniperus procumbens (Cupressaceae), and Glossilus funebrussp. nov. on Cupressus funebris (Cupressaceae). We provided two new combinations—Glossilus convergens (Keifer, 1966), comb. nov. and Glossilus juniperensis (Xue & Yin, 2020), comb. nov. Two new species of the subgenus Scheloribates (Perscheloribates) (Oribatida, Scheloribatidae) are described, based on adults collected from dry litter in Shorea dipterocarp forest in Southern Vietnam. Scheloribates (P.) posteriorugosussp. nov. is characterized by the presence of heavily rugose sculpturing (several longitudinal ridges with deep furrows between them) in posterior part of the notogaster; S. (P.) dentiunguissp. nov. is characterized by the presence of strong teeth in mediobasal part of the leg claws. An identification key to the known species of S. This work aimed to recognize the mite fauna present in the different environments of a chocolate production system in Serra Gaúcha, Southern Brazil. The collections were carried out in August 2022 in different environments of an artisanal chocolate factory and store. Chocolate samples were collected from the store, the manufacturing process, the raw materials used to produce chocolates and the dust from the factory environments. Different collection methodologies were used depending on the materials' characteristics or environments. A total of 407 mites belonging to the families Acaridae, Anystidae, Blattisociidae, Cheyletidae, Glycyphagidae, Laelapidae, Pyemotidae, Tarsonemidae, Tetranychidae, Tydeidae, in addition to Oribatida and Uropodina, were collected. Tydeidae was most abundant, with 55% of the specimens found, with Brachytydeus oregonensis being the most representative, followed by Acaridae, with Tyrophagus putrescentiae representing 27.5% of the mites found. This study aims to design and develop a set of universal primers for amplification of the entire mitochondrial genome of Acaridae mites based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The conserved regions were screened by comparing the mitochondrial genomes of known Acaridae mites in GenBank. To ensure that the primers cover the entire mitochondrial sequence, the mitochondrial genome was divided into six overlapping fragments based on the conserved region. After synthesizing primers, we extracted the total DNA of Acaridae mites collected from grain stores. Then the total DNA of individual Acaridae mites was used as the template for PCR, Sanger sequencing, and sequence splicing. Agarose gel electrophoresis revealed that the lengths of the six amplification products were between 1.2 kb and 3.8 kb, consistent with design expectations. The resulting sequences could be successfully spliced to form a loop structure, confirming that the primers cover the entire mitochondrial genome. The splicing results were consistent with the full sequence released in GenBank. The female of a new fossil genus and species, Rhombometridium pankowskiorumgen. and sp. nov. (Acari: Trochometridiidae), is described from Cretaceous Kachin amber. The new genus is characterized by the presence of well-developed sporothecae anteriad legs III, each sporotheca containing several ovoid fungal spores. This is the oldest (ca. 100 Mya), evidence of symbiosis between mites and fungi and the first fossil record of the mite family Trochometridiidae. The new genus shares synapomorphies with the family Trochometridiidae (presence of sporothecae between bases of legs III and IV) and Caraboacaridae (rhombic body shape, absence of setae v2, absence of palpal solenidion, palps fused with distinctly widened gnathosomal capsule), and potentially represents a transitional form or a missing link between these two closely related families. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and burden of Demodex mites in patients with rosacea, and to investigate their potential contribution to the aetiology of rosacea. The study included 82 patients (44 with papulopustular rosacea and 38 with erythematotelangiectatic rosacea) diagnosed with rosacea by clinical examination and 82 healthy controls without dermatologic disease. Samples were obtained from each participant from the cheek, nasolabial, and chin regions using standardised skin surface biopsy (SSSB). Samples were examined under a light microscope, and Demodex species were identified and counted. Demodex positivity (≥5 mites) was detected in 91% of patients and 20% of controls in the study (p< 0.01). Only D. folliculorum (total 1328, mean 44.27/cm2) was detected in 37% of patients and D. folliculorum + D. brevis coinfection (total 6071, mean 134.91/cm2) in 55% of patients. Only D. folliculorum (total 97, mean 6.06/cm2) was detected in 20% of healthy controls, while D. folliculorum + D. brevis co-infection was not detected. The study showed that Demodex burden in patients with rosacea was approximately 30 times higher than in healthy controls and was caused by coinfection of D. folliculorum and D. brevis (mean Demodex burden: 179.18/cm2 in patients, 6.06/ cm2 in healthy controls). It was concluded that Demodex infestation, especially co-infection with D. folliculorum and D. brevis, may be a potential factor in the aetiology of rosacea that should not be ignored in the clinic, and that it may be appropriate to initiate antiparasitic treatment when the parasite is detected. The results of long-term research on tetranychid and phytoseiid mites in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine are summarized. Transcarpathian Tetranychoidea are represented by 28 species from 10 genera, and the same list for Phytoseiidae included 49 species from 11 genera. For 77 species of mites from 21 genera, species composition, abundance, trophic specialization, and biotopic distribution in different altitudinal zones of Transcarpathia, Ukraine was analysed. Ten species of tetranychid mites (Bryobia rubrioculus, Tetranyhus horridus, Amphytetranyhus viennensis, Eotetranycuus carpini, E. quercicola, Neotetranychus rubi, Oligonychus ununguis, Panonychus ulmi, T. turkestani and T. urticae), and 11 species of phytoseiid mites (Neoseiulus umbraticus, Kampimodromus aberrans, Amblyseius andersoni, A. rademacheri, Euseius ucrainicus, Dubininellus echinus, D. juvenis, Typhloctonus aceri, T. tuberculatus, Anthoseius (A.) rhenana and A. (A.) clavata) were common to all three studied altitudinal zones. The species diversity of tetranychids was highest in the lowlands (23 species), slightly lower in the foothills (19 species), and the lowest in the mountain zone (11 species). For phytoseiid mites, it was the highest in the foothills (38 species), 25 in the lowlands and 21 in mountains. Among the tetranychids, the transzonal species A. viennensis retained its dominant status in all altitudinal zones. In the lowland, the highest rates of occurrence and dominance indices were observed for the species B. rubrioculus and T. turkestani, and in the foothills—for P. ulmi and T. horridus. The species composition of mites in the lowlands and mountains varied the most for both predators and phytophagous mites. Among the tetranychids, the most striking marker species in the mountains were P. ulmi and N. rubi. Only in the mountains were found such phytoseiid species as N. alidis, N. montanus, T. runiacus, T. mutatus, and A. salviae, which could thus be considered strictly mountainous. All of them have fragmented habitats and are tied to mountainous regions. In that altitudinal zone, an exceptionally high occurrence rate and dominance index were established for N. montanus among the phytoseiids. This is most probably due to significantly greater differences in the temperature and humidity regimes and range of host plants and, for predatory mites, prey species. The results of this study provide additional information about the structure of the communities of phytophagous and predatory mites in the natural zones of the mountain landscape and changes in the composition of the communities under the influence of environmental factors and the forage base, which is a consequence of the altitudinal distribution of the investigated biocenoses. During field surveys of eriophyoid mites in Razavi and North Khorasan provinces (Iran) in summer 2023, two new Aceria spp. (Acari: Eriophyoidea: Eriophyidae) on Amaranthaceae plants were discovered, illustrated and described: Aceria sodaesp. nov. on Soda rosmarinus (Bunge ex Boiss.) Akhani and Aceria esfarayeniensissp. nov. on Salsola arbusculiformis Drobow. Adults of two new species, Limnesia (Limnesia) lupingae Li & Guo sp. nov. and Limnesia (Limnesia) macrophthalma Li & Guo sp. nov., from Heilongjiang and Hubei provinces respectively, are described in detail.
