Semantic analysis is a particular technique, which is an interesting area of research that associates with Natural Language Processing (NLP), artificial intelligence, opinion mining, text clustering, and classification. Numerous text processing techniques are being used to find out sentiments from the comments, such as social media tweets, hoax, fiction, nonfiction, novels, books, movies, health care, and stock exchange. Agrarian experts' opinions play a vital role in the agriculture sector that yields good crop productivity. This paper presents a descriptive analysis of agriculture experts' opinions through machine learning methods based on textual data collection. The data has been collected by surveying various academia, research institute, and industry of Punjab, Pakistan. The impact of various agricultural inputs such as seed quality, soil quality, soil-intensive tillage, climate changes, water shortage, synthetic fertilizer, and precision technologies on crop productivity have been collected through questionnaires. This research provides a descriptive analysis of collected agrarians experts opinions to increase the crop yield by providing awareness regarding current agriculture inputs to farmers by using machine learning. The current research provides a cohesive expert guideline for improving crop productivity, useful for agricultural policymaking, and conveys adequate farmers' knowledge. Consequently, the proposed method is an innovative way of discovering recommendations of agrarians through sentiment analysis in survey data using machine learning methods. Household food security is a major issue in developing countries like Pakistan. Despite significant breakthroughs in grain production within the country, the problem of food availability and utilization persists. Diet is one of the most potent determinants of nutritional condition. The dietary intake method has been utilized to determine the food security status of households, which depends on various factors. There are no automatic and user-friendly methods available to decide food security status, which is generally determined by manually calculating calorie intakes. Due to its high performance and precision, machine learning holds major significance. In this paper, the status of food security has been examined by applying machine learning algorithms, namely, support vector machine, naïve Bayes, k-nearest neighbors, random forest, logistic regression, and neural network, on survey data of households for best predicting the status. A food analysis (FA) app has been developed to automatically predict the FAO status of a household's food security by implementing the random forest model that found higher precision among algorithms. Additionally, the proposed mobile app will also be helpful for collecting the households' data. Furthermore, the objective of the study was to enhance food security awareness among individuals. Mapping and monitoring the distribution of croplands and crop types support policymakers and international organizations by reducing the risks to food security, notably from climate change and, for that purpose, remote sensing is routinely used. However, identifying specific crop types, cropland, and cropping patterns using space-based observations is challenging because different crop types and cropping patterns have similarity spectral signatures. This study applied a methodology to identify cropland and specific crop types, including tobacco, wheat, barley, and gram, as well as the following cropping patterns: wheat-tobacco, wheat-gram, wheat-barley, and wheat-maize, which are common in Gujranwala District, Pakistan, the study region. The methodology consists of combining optical remote sensing images from Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 with Machine Learning (ML) methods, namely a Decision Tree Classifier (DTC) and a Random Forest (RF) algorithm. The best time-periods for differentiating cropland from other land cover types were identified, and then Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8 NDVI-based time-series were linked to phenological parameters to determine the different crop types and cropping patterns over the study region using their temporal indices and ML algorithms. The methodology was subsequently evaluated using Landsat images, crop statistical data for 2020 and 2021, and field data on cropping patterns. The results highlight the high level of accuracy of the methodological approach presented using Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 images, together with ML techniques, for mapping not only the distribution of cropland, but also crop types and cropping patterns when validated at the county level. These results reveal that this methodology has benefits for monitoring and evaluating food security in Pakistan, adding to the evidence base of other studies on the use of remote sensing to identify crop types and cropping patterns in other countries. Timely and reliable estimation of regional crop yield is a vital component of food security assessment, especially in developing regions. The traditional crop forecasting methods need ample time and labor to collect and process field data to release official yield reports. Satellite remote sensing data is considered a cost-effective and accurate way of predicting crop yield at pixel-level. In this study, maximum Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) during the crop-growing season was integrated with Machine Learning Regression (MLR) models to estimate wheat and rice yields in Pakistan's Punjab province. Five MLR models were compared using a fivefold cross-validation method for their predictive accuracy. The study results revealed that the regression model based on the Gaussian process outperformed over other models. The best performing model attained coefficient of determination (R2), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE, t/ha), and Mean Absolute Error (MAE, t/ha) of 0.75, 0.281, and 0.236 for wheat; 0.68, 0.112, and 0.091 for rice, respectively. The proposed method made it feasible to predict wheat and rice 6–8 weeks before the harvest. The early prediction of crop yield and its spatial distribution in the region can help formulate efficient agricultural policies for sustainable social, environmental, and economic progress.
