This work aims to explore the potentialities of an end-user personalisation platform in industrial settings. In such a context, stakeholders with different roles and competencies collaborate to manage and control an environment where legacy machines coexist and interact with newer ones. Our goal is to provide a rule-based tool that allows end-users to build personalised solutions to respond quickly to the dynamic needs of factories. We report on a case study in the paper factory domain, in which the industrial aspects identified with expert stakeholders through interviews have been simulated and addressed through an extension of a personalisation platform. A first user test of the resulting environment has been carried out with a representative set of users, and has provided useful and encouraging feedback in terms of the potentialities of the proposed approach in industrial contexts. The article compares the accuracy of forecasted and actual supply chain cost and price factors in a Nordic paper mill's sales to customers in two large European countries. Empirical longitudinal research data covering the years between 2002 and 2008 were obtained from a large integrated Finnish paper mill, and consisted of sales volumes, paper prices, variable costs, and transport costs. It was expected that the mill would be able to forecast demand, prices and costs accurately, but the empirical findings showed that the forecasts for paper price, demand, and cost varied from one market to another and were not highly accurate. In addition, the forecasting of gross margins seemed to be very inexact. It is concluded that there is a need for more reliable forecasting methods in the paper industry to anticipate economic development as paper demand and costs change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This exploratory and practical case study examines one country's white papers on disability policies whilst drawing upon experiences of an international technical cooperation project. The creation process, contents, and functions of white papers on disability in Mongolia are analysed descriptively using document data and the author's field notes. This case study on the practice which can be considered macro social work reveals that the creation of the Mongolian white papers was a constructive and dynamic process, participated in by both domestic and international actors. It was found that white papers have multiple functions, such as sharing fundamental information to promote the participation of disabled people and to monitor disability-inclusive policies. The pulp and paper industry is under increasing pressure to reduce its energy consumption and impact on the environment. The 'Cleaner Production' (CP) approach has been widely utilised as a tool to meet environmental concerns by industry. However, because of the high initial capital cost of CP implementation, it is important to develop a model for prioritisation. In this paper, using analytic hierarchy process methodology, a tree-level hierarchy model was structured to facilitate the prioritisation process in the Kaveh Papermaking Company located in Iran. Using a literature review and field study, the proposed model can provide a framework for CP implementation in a paper factory. The results show that process change gives higher priority between 5 criteria and that repair of all leaks in the paper-making process gives higher priority between 35 sub-criteria. Process change was further evaluated and discussed in which input material changes gained higher priority. This article looks at the controversy which emerged between the Bank of England and a number of external actors over various proposals to modify the printing of the Bank's paper-money during the Bank restriction period of 1797–1821. As a result of this controversy, the debate over the best method to prevent the forgery of the Bank's paper-money became increasingly technical and specialised over the Restriction period. I argue that, as a result of the growing technical nature of the controversy that emerged, the problem of the forgery of the Bank's paper-money became depoliticised – separated from the controversial political and social context that attended the widespread introduction of paper-money in early nineteenth-century British society. An occupational community is a bounded work culture characterized by common norms, values, work practices, and conceptions of identity closely related to work. Most occupational community studies are developed as case studies of workers in a particular setting. In this article we adopt a comparative case study approach to understand commonalities and differences within two pulp and paper mills. The mills differ in demographic setting (metropolitan and non-metropolitan) and corporate structure, factors that we argue qualitatively affect the nature of occupational community as experienced by the workers themselves. In 2017, far-right mobilization and demonstrations in the United States were at the highest levels since the 1980s and 90s. This coincided with a marked increase in propaganda campaigns in neighborhoods and across college campuses. Racial activists renewed efforts to rebrand extreme positions, soften racist rhetoric, and grow the movement. The purpose of this case study was to explore the rhetorical content of the propaganda created by one white supremacist. This study contributes to a growing body of literature on far-right propaganda through an examination of common themes, and a comparison of the framing techniques and rhetorical strategies used by other white supremacists. This paper highlights the relationship between reflective practice and staff mindfulness, situation and movement awareness, and person-centredness during mobility care in nursing homes. An overview of relevant decision-making theory is followed by discussion of the place of reflective practice in optimizing mobility care. Two contrasting case scenarios, derived from observations of mobility care during a previous qualitative study, are used to illustrate and contrast how mindfulness, situation awareness and reflection-in-action may enable person-centredness. Implications for training designed to improve person-centredness during mobility care are considered. Training in situation and movement awareness, combined with observations and collaborative reflective practice, may provide a format for coaches and peer leaders to develop mindfulness and person-centredness of care staff during mobility care. Objectives. Test-retest reliability of an asthma paper diary versus an electronic diary (e-diary) with an integrated peak flow meter was investigated. The equivalence of the two modes was also evaluated. Methods. Prospective, randomized crossover study design in adolescents (12-17 years) and adults (≥18 years). Key inclusion criteria were persistent asthma, Asthma Control Test (ACT) scores ≥16, use of inhaled corticosteroid with or without long-acting beta-agonist for ≥12 weeks, nocturnal awakenings <2 times in the past week, and activity limitations <1 per week. Participants were randomized to either paper then e-diary or e-diary then paper, to be completed for 14 days each. Results. Forty-seven participants completed all study visits. Weekly percentage of symptom-free days (SFDs) and rescue-free days (RFDs) were calculated. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) of Week 1 mean SFD and RFD (test) and Week 2 mean SFD and RFD (retest), respectively, were estimated in three groups defined as stable: (i) minimal changes in asthma symptoms, as measured by the global patient reported symptom change question, (ii) less than 15% change (absolute value) in 1 second FEV1 at adjacent study visits, and (iii) changes in ACT scores less than three points for each mode. SFD demonstrated acceptable ICC (≥0.70) using all three definitions of asthma stability for both modes. Conclusion. Acceptable reproducibility of the percentage of RFD (ICC = 0.78) was only observed for the e-diary using the FEV1 stability criterion. The ICCs for SFD and RFD were acceptable, 0.84 and 0.70, respectively, suggesting better reliability for the e-diary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study we explore the implications of using recycled versus virgin materials for supply chain structure and supplier relationships, as well as the broader effects on operations strategy in an evolving sustainable environment. We focus on the corrugated cardboard industry, where vertical integration is common, and non-integrated firms are both customers and competitors of integrated firms. These multiple supplier/customer/competitor relationships provide a complex environment to observe changes in the supply chain with the addition of a reverse supply chain system using recycled materials. Based on the findings from an in-depth case study we posit several propositions related to the use of recycled materials, supply chain structure, supplier relationships, and operations strategy. In summary, because the benefits of the changes in the supply chain and supplier relationships accrue primarily to non-integrated firms, we expect the use of recycled material inputs to be dominated by non-integrated firms, and with decreasing capital costs over time, and the ratio of non-integrated to integrated firms using recycled materials will increase. Further, we expect smaller non-integrated firms to access the market for recycled materials differently from larger integrated firms, with the smaller firms more likely to employ non-price-based means for securing their supply of recycled material inputs. Finally, since non-integrated firms are likely to have different operations strategies than integrated firms, we expect the use of recycled materials to indirectly lead to greater use of non-cost-based operations strategies and facilitate the emergence of new operations strategies in the industry. The collection of teaching evaluation questionnaires in the traditional paper-and-pencil format is a costly and time-consuming process and yet it is a common assessment practice in many university systems. web-based data collection would reduce costs and significantly increase the efficiency of the overall evaluation process in numerous ways. Results for both types of surveys are reported from two years of progressive introduction of the web-based survey by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. In the first year, two faculties representing scientific and humanistic fields were selected for a web-based survey. In the second year, eight out of 12 faculties took part in the web survey. An earlier version of this paper was read at the Journal of Child Psychotherapy Symposium on Ethical Publishing, 2022. The question under discussion was: how can we write about our patients in a safe and respectful way, while making a contribution to the development of our field. The author describes her experience of sharing a draft paper with a young person towards the end of the treatment, with a view to submitting the paper for publication. Some thought is given to the clinical and ethical complexity of this process, and the questions that arose through the process are explored. The paper proposes that it might sometimes be possible to aim for a collaborative form of writing that involves children, young people and families in writing up their stories. A surrogate partner is a trained professional who works with clients in sex therapy as part of a three-way therapeutic team, consisting of a psychotherapist, surrogate partner and client. This article looks at surrogate partner therapy and its relevance to bisexuals in therapy. The author approaches the subject from a personal and a professional perspective by using anecdotes, presenting case studies, background information about surrogate partner therapy as well as including elements from her own personal journal as a bisexual woman. Within channels of distribution, the profitability of the wholesaler-distributor continues to be threatened from many sources. However, the imminent demise of the middleman that has been predicted for many years has yet to materialize. Those middlemen that do well have found ways of maintaining relevance and creating value. This paper seeks to evaluate how the participants in the supplier to distributor channel in a global industry both perceive and participate in selective or exclusive distribution, i.e. utilize a 'Limited Outlet Distribution (LOD)' strategy. Data were collected qualitatively through four case studies and quantitatively through the administration of an electronic questionnaire. Results indicate that selective or exclusive distribution strategies are being utilized in the channel, but more so by manufacturers than distributors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses the status of case studies in professional examinations. In the context of Association of certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) examinations a case study can be defined as: A question with a lot of information, not all necessarily relevant; Placing candidates in a problem situation which attempts to simulate a real-life situation and; Covering a variety of issues drawn from several different areas of the syllabus. In its own external examinations, ACCA uses a variety of case study type questions, ranging from mini scenario questions to quite complex mini case studies. The author thinks it would be fairer to say ACCA uses a variety of case problems rather than case studies. But the author emphasizes that not one paper uses a case problem as its sole assessment technique, they vary from questions worth 20 marks out of 100, to paper 5 with a case problem worth 55 marks. Examiners and ACCA want to keep a balance of case studies and more traditional essay/computational questions.

Legitimacy is central to conflicts between environmental nongovernment organizations (ENGOs) and natural resource extraction companies. This process ranges from differing interpretations of legitimacy regarding the utilization of natural resources and its development through adapting the practices to meet society's expectations and norms, to its portrayal and finally being granted the stakeholders' seal of legitimacy. This article analyses an example of this conflict by exploring the legitimacy of the positions of a pulp and paper company and ENGOs opposing its operating practices. The article is based on an analysis of the actions of both sets of organizations, through interviews and a review of their documents. The results show differing roles that legitimacy plays in environmental conflict and how these roles make the conflict increasingly complex, making resolution harder. This underlines the need for tools to facilitate resolution, including one that would provide a clearer perspective and clarify the different stakeholders' claims of legitimacy. Based on Karl Popper's approach to science, this conceptual article aims at promoting a discussion on important issues debated in the OM literature. Our focus is on the different types of hypotheses used in OM investigations and the implications of this for the formulation and testing of theory with an emphasis on case study research. Given that Popper's methodology calls for an adequate testing of scientific propositions (universal-deterministic or probabilistic), we illustrate how case study research can be used to conduct a severe test of a scientific theory. It is also explained how case studies can be utilized to propose universal-deterministic hypotheses that should then be tested. Our investigation further discusses why it is important to clearly acknowledge the differences between the two types of hypotheses. In 2018 a collaborative project between Politecnico di Milano (PoliMI) and Regione Lombardia (RL) was launched to join forces and expertise toward the improvement of the regional transport infrastructures maintenance management. One of the project goals was the development of regional guidelines aimed to support the design and implementation of monitoring systems for bridges. The focus of this paper is on the illustration of the Monitoring Regional (MoRe) guidelines and of their implementation on nine pilot monitoring systems designed and deployed within the project. The (MoRe) guidelines tackle the entire monitoring process from the analyses of the monitoring goals and the preliminary investigations needed to the identification of the phenomena and relevant indicators to monitor, up to the selection of monitoring devices and the presentation of results. The study sought to determine lecturers' and students' perceptions of factors contributing to students' failure to submit research projects on time in three departments of the Zimbabwe Open University. The study employed a descriptive survey design and was both quantitative and qualitative. The questionnaire used as a data-gathering instrument had both closed and open-ended sections. In this study, a sample of 76 research students and 17 research supervisors was extracted using the purposive sampling method. The study found out that both lecturers and students contributed to inconsistency in meeting for consultations and this also led to late feedback on submitted work, which, in turn, affected the research progress. It also became apparent that there was no follow-up from the institution to find out how the research in departments was progressing. The ingestion of various animals with psychoactive properties has been observed since antiquity. Though unusual, lizard use has been reported in the literature as case reports. Yet the rarity of this phenomenon has not been explored through large-scale studies. This paper systematically reviews available case reports of individuals using lizards for recreational purposes and synthesizes the evidence in terms of socio-demographic, clinical, and treatment variables. We conducted a systematic review of the literature including original papers, case reports, case series, and letters to the editor on MEDLINE and Taylor & Francis database. The search terms used were lizard AND (addiction OR psychedelic OR psychoactive). Additionally, bibliographies of published cases were searched for an exhaustive review. Eight case reports (from seven publications) were included for qualitative synthesis. The sample consisted of all males (age = 28 ± 8.97). Findings revealed that the lizards were self-acquired and consumed through varied methods. Ingestion was reported usually as pleasure-inducing, though without any prominent withdrawal symptoms. Additionally, it was highly concurrent with other substances. The finding indicates that using lizards for recreational purposes is a covert and underreported practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper explores collaborations between community organizations and STARlab (Systems Transformation Action Research Lab), a university-based research unit focusing on inclusive social innovation and entrepreneurship, specifically with marginalized communities. Using a cross case analysis methodology, this paper draws from the author's prior research with two community organizations that engaged in community-based social change initiatives to support inclusive entrepreneurship in Aotearoa New Zealand. Cases like these which examine how researchers establish community partnerships in systems change work are critical to explore how collaborations can be nurtured over time for impactful results. The first initiative, Iti Rearea Collective, was co-designed to support former refugee and migrant founders of small businesses. Using a collaborative governance model, IRC provides services and address systemic barriers for resettled refugee entrepreneurs in Auckland. The second case, Startup Dunedin, is a university-community incubator and entrepreneurship hub that worked with researchers to map systems of service providers and act to create inclusive entrepreneurial spaces. Each of these cases is an example of an action research initiative that addresses complex systemic issues. This paper explores how neoliberal ideologies inform both social and political agendas that influence how social workers can provide support to trans and gender diverse people attempting to access gender-affirming healthcare, using an analysis of social workers' experiences working in mental health in Nova Scotia, Canada. Qualitative semi-structured interviews provide a perspective of the experiences of social workers in Nova Scotia and how their ability to provide mental health services to trans and gender diverse people is impacted by neoliberalism. Most social workers attributed the structural context of working within a bio-medical system as contributing to social workers being disempowered, undermined, and not able to practice according to the values of their profession thus limiting their ability to provide affirming mental health supports to trans and gender diverse people in ways that align with their social work professional ethics and values. Through examining how neoliberal ideologies create notions of ideal social citizens by controlling the body, the paper explores how lived experience of neoliberal practices in mental health social work reinforce transnormativity. This paper highlights the necessity for social workers to resist dominant neoliberal and medicalized discourses which serve as mechanisms of power and control. The first year of university can be a vulnerable time, especially for students who describe themselves as shy and who may be reluctant to engage socially. Shyness, which can be closely aligned with social anxiety, often reduces opportunities for students to belong. This paper presents the experiences of two students negotiating experiences of shyness and belonging during their first year at university. Scholars have focused on how young people negotiate belonging(s) in multiple spaces. These negotiations provide insights into complex, varied and multi-faceted relationships which contribute to the lives of young people and which are integral to their identity development. The paper foregrounds four common trends in scholarship on belonging (space/place, memory/nostalgia, temporality and relationships) to structure the analysis of positionality, shyness and intersubjectivity during a transitional time. How both these students come to belong in reference to everyday social practices complicates a psychological or disability-studies approach to the study of shyness and provides insight into the realities of student experience, personal hardship and familial responsibility. One of the major impacts of hearing disability that hinders the individual's effective participation in society and full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms is his/her ability to communicate with others. Sign language is one of the main methods of communication used by people with hearing disability. Therefore, improving access to sign language services and increasing the availability of interpreters contribute to better inclusion and integration of people with hearing disability into society. This paper explores the experience of a Jordanian university that launched a pioneering initiative by offering a sign language course for its students. It reports the findings of a study that evaluated this initiative from the perspective of students. Feedback was recorded during unstructured interviews with 23 student participants who had taken the course. The paper concludes that universities can play a significant role in integrating people with disabilities into the education system and promoting their participation in society. The paper analyses how SMEs manage the knowledge needed to carry out innovation, focusing on how the various knowledge management (KM) processes (acquisition, documentation, sharing, application) come into play during the different phases of the innovation process (idea generation, ideas selection, project development, launch). In fact, little is known about the KM processes and practices that SMEs employ during their innovation activities. Given the novelty of the issue, a multiple case study was carried out on 13 innovative projects implemented by as many Italian manufacturing SMEs. Empirical evidence shows that all KM processes play a role in the various phases of the innovation process, but this role changes from phase to phase. Furthermore, the study highlights that the practices used in the various processes may vary in relation to the type of innovation that is being developed. There has been a major growth in global health networks in recent decades to address health issues including tobacco use, alcohol abuse, and maternal mortality. Most conditions that incur high costs have provoked networks of advocates working to mitigate the impact, increase investment in research, and establish campaigns. Global health networks often work simultaneously across policy, knowledge creation, and advocacy. Until recently there has been limited activity in global health networks and advocacy addressing hearing loss and deafness which has contributed to its relatively low visibility with policymakers compared to other health conditions. This discussion paper reports on a global consultation that explored the views of advocacy groups and individuals on advocacy for the management of hearing loss, and cochlear implantation (CI). It focussed on stakeholders' views of current advocacy endeavours, opportunities and barriers, and the possible development of a global advocacy network to improve access to cochlear implantation and the supporting services. The subsequent development of a global health network, the Cochlear Implant International Community of Action (CIICA) is discussed and the conditions necessary for the successful development of health networks are explored. This paper examines moral dilemmas faced by family caregivers of older adults who employ live-in migrant care workers. Being both a family caregiver as well as an employer of a live-in migrant care worker often puts family members at a crossroad, where moral decisions must be made. Lacking a formal role, family members do not have a professional code of ethics or other clear rules that can guide their actions, and their choices are rooted in cultural, community, familial, and personal values. This paper discusses moral dilemmas that result from family caregivers' dual commitment, to the wellbeing of their older sick relative who is the recipient of care, and to the wellbeing of the live-in care worker whom they employ. This paper overviews the importance of justice and health-care partnerships in a MOUD feasibility trial in a rural Appalachian community. Research partners included a local jail, a local community supervision office, and a local community federally qualified health center. This paper describes the pilot feasibility study participants and methodology, as well as lessons learned including the challenges encountered and needed changes to address feasibility as the environment changes over time. In the news, there is frequent mention of adolescents' mental health nowadays being 'in crisis'. This paper offers the perspective of two psychotherapists working in a crisis service, trying to engage adolescents and their families in therapeutic work. There is an argument for a combined developmental, psychoanalytic and systemic approach to understand and work with the perceived mental health crisis in adolescence. This paper explores the desire of some adolescents today to have a mental health diagnosis and use specific, psychiatric-oriented language to frame and understand their distress. A cultural and theoretical exploration of this phenomenon is offered, viewing it as an expression of adolescents' need for establishing their identity within peer groups, online and offline. The paper underlines the necessity for an approach where the whole network around the adolescent – the school, the parents, the therapist – work together to address the occurring crisis. This paper compares case studies and simulations, two popular experiential learning techniques used in capstone strategy courses, to provide insights into how each may contribute to the development and demonstration of students' critical thinking skills. We compared critical thinking assessments of a simulation-based assignment with the same assessments of a case study assignment. Our findings suggest that simulations promote recursive learning and may result in higher critical thinking outcomes than the more passive learning typical of case studies. A 41-yr-old, previously healthy male was stung once by a hornet. The patient had no history of allergy or hornet stings. Physical examination revealed swelling of the right side of his body with blister formation on the extremities. Rhabdomyolysis developed. Cross-Site Scripting attack (XSS) is the foremost vulnerability identified in the world of the web today. XSS attacks permit an intruder to execute the malevolent code and tainted source on the user browser, which results in various effects like cookies stealing, password attack, hacking credit/debit card numbers or any PIV's of consumers etc. A detailed analysis of the XSS exploitation along with its detection and protection scheme has been discussed in this paper. The case study concerns with the existing methodologies and approaches used to detect and mitigate XSS attacks and its vulnerabilities. It talks about both the client and server side detection methods with static and dynamic approaches which have been presented so far to detect the attack. Also, it includes the XSS Defense methods and tools used to protect the client as well as the server. Nurses, the largest healthcare workforce, are well placed to provide leadership in initiatives that promote planetary health. Yet, few practical examples of nurse leadership in the health sector's response to climate change are evident in the scholarly literature. The aim of this discussion paper is to profile Australian nurses who are leading initiatives designed to champion planetary health and promote sustainable practice. The paper presents a series of case studies derived from interviews conducted in October and November 2023. The nurses' experiences and insights, along with the challenges they have encountered, are presented as evidence of Kouzes and Posner's five practices of exemplary leadership. The case studies demonstrate that appointment of more nurses with climate and sustainability expertise will accelerate the implementation of responsive strategies that target waste management, emissions reduction and climate resilience across healthcare organisations. Increased levels of digitalisation present major opportunities for efficiency in the oil and gas industry but can also contribute to new risks and vulnerabilities. Based on developments in the industry, the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (HAVTIL) has in recent years pursued targeted knowledge development and follow-up of company's digitalisation initiatives. This paper explores data collected through HAVTIL's audits of the development and use of automated systems within well operations. The analysis of the data resulted in the identification of five main topics related to the implementation of digital technologies. The five main topics were organisational complexity, follow-up and implementation of technology, analysis and documentation, user-interface and alarms and competence and training. Overall, the results support research findings within human factors and technology development, pointing out that there is a lack of focus on human factors in both development projects and in operations. In addition, this paper provides insight into how digitalisation initiatives are followed-up and explores the results from the analysis in light of the current developments in the industry. To investigate automated operations and human performance, three audits were performed by the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (HAVTIL). These audits have been used as case studies and the basis for this paper. This paper explores the critical potential of rhetorical studies to inform a concept of reflexivity for social professions. In response to an increasing turn towards technical notions of professional identity across social professions, a renewed critical emphasis on reflective practice, critical reflection, and reflexivity positions professional practice as inevitably an interpretive and discursive endeavor. Despite the growing attention to professional discourse in the current reflection-debate in the social sciences, thus far there has not been a comprehensive exploration of how rhetorical studies can deepen our understanding of reflexivity and can stimulate reflexive attitudes in social professions. Building on conceptual and empirical research in the domain of 'new rhetorical studies' as well as on my own research, I examine the various methodological and pedagogical tools rhetoric offers to encourage students to reflect on the interpretive and discursive dimensions of their practice and discipline in critical and productive ways. I argue that a strengthened intersection between rhetorical studies and social sciences can add to the knowledge base on critical and reflexive professional attitudes by deepening our understanding of human interaction in the social world and of how knowledge about this social world can be reflexively produced and mediated. Although group studies provide necessary information about the range and frequency of phenomena in phonological development, individual profiles (case studies) can be used to describe entire phonological systems in detail. Profiles from different languages can highlight similarities and differences across languages that may be less obvious in group studies. The current issue presents profiles of children with protracted phonological development (PPD: speech sound disorders) from 16 languages (Akan, Kuwaiti Arabic, Bulgarian, Canadian English, Farsi, Canadian French, German, Greek, Icelandic, Japanese, Mandarin, Polish, European Portuguese, Slovenian, Granada Spanish, Swedish). Utilising a constraints-based nonlinear phonological framework, each profile describes a child's strengths and needs in word structure, segments, features and their interactions and suggests an intervention plan. Where available, follow-up data from after clinical intervention are included. This introductory paper provides the theoretical background for the papers and reflects on the findings, drawing out particular themes and implications for phonological and developmental theories and clinical intervention. Since the earliest days of psychoanalytic scholarship, observations gained from self-analysis or from the author's own psychoanalytic treatment have often been disguised as data obtained from clinical practice with patients. Some significant portion of our intellectual history originates in the analysis or self-analysis of analysts themselves, and this paper assumes the task of reviewing a collection of known or suspected autobiographical accounts and the associated theoretical developments and clinical concepts that can be traced back to these works. Though not a comprehensive survey, we begin with Sigmund Freud's discovery of screen memories through self-analysis and discuss examples including Anna Freud, Wilhelm Stekel, Melanie Klein, Sándor Ferenczi, Heinz Kohut, and others. Today, data analytics plays an important role in Smart Manufacturing decision making. Domain knowledge is very important to support the development of analytics models. However, in today's data analytics projects, domain knowledge is only documented, but not properly captured and integrated with analytics models. This raises problems in interoperability and traceability of the relevant domain knowledge that is used to develop analytics models. To address these problems, this paper proposes a methodology to enrich analytics models with domain knowledge. To illustrate the proposed methodology, a case study is introduced to demonstrate the utilisation of the enriched analytics model to support the development of a Bayesian Network model. This paper uses a multiple case-study methodology to investigate complexity transfer (CT) in manufacturing supplier-customer systems, leading to a new model of complexity transfer. An entropic-related complexity measure is applied to three supplier-customer systems, internally within each organisation and at their supplier-customer interface. The results are compared and integrated to provide cross-case analyses and insights. Although CT has been acknowledged in the literature to occur towards upstream supply chain (SC) partners, e.g. in the context of the bullwhip effect, this paper provides evidence that CT may also occur towards downstream SC partners. This study also highlights that complexity can be managed through significant and sustained operational interventions. Our new empirically-tested model of CT identifies four organisational types: Sink, Source, Equilibrium, and Boom or Bust, according to their transfer of internally-generated and externally-accepted complexity. This new model enables an in-depth representation of the transfer of complexity and of its impact on SC partnerships. Managers may use this CT model to develop complexity management insights and to identify structural and operational changes – at organisational level, and systemic SC changes that may reduce the costs associated with complexity. Cloud production is an emerging paradigm that supports co-designing and co-producing integrated solutions with customers. The realisation of this paradigm requires integrated platforms that enable parties collaborating within a production ecosystem to inter-operate networked business processes. Previous research has proposed different architectures for cloud production platforms from different perspectives like virtualiseng and servitiseng manufacturing resources, distributed and networked sensing supported by IoT technologies, and service-oriented and process-centred computing to compose and enact networked production services. However, an integrated architecture that brings together insights from service-oriented cloud manufacturing, IoT-enabled intelligence, and networked process-centred service composition and enactment has not been sufficiently addressed in previous research. In order to incorporate insights from the mentioned different perspectives, in this paper architectural analysis, synthesis, and evaluation steps are conducted to propose a conceptual architecture for IoT-enabled intelligent process-aware cloud production platforms. This architecture describes design-time and run-time components of a cloud production platform that can sense and intelligently respond to events within a value network. To evaluate the applicability of the proposed architecture within real-life scenarios, a case study is conducted in a cloud clinical laboratory in Tehran, Iran. There is an emerging debate in the field as to whether or not Holocaust education is effective in combating antisemitism. This paper aims to provide explanations for the frequently observed ineffectiveness of Holocaust education in reducing antisemitism by examining two cases that are in many ways diametrically opposed: Scotland as a former part of the Allied Forces and Austria as a post-Nazi state. The case studies focus on overlapping, contrasting and conflicting understandings of Holocaust education and the role of antisemitism within it. The perspective is primarily sociological, inspired by Critical Theory. Evidence is based on research papers and basic documents from the field of Holocaust education (curricula, websites of key actors and educational materials). It is interpreted according to the principles of qualitative content analysis. Findings suggest that in both cases opportunities to address and reduce antisemitism are being missed: In the Scottish case, the teaching of the Holocaust tends to downplay the specific Jewish experience and largely fails to address antisemitism, or does so in a very simplistic way. In the Austrian case, antisemitism is talked about, but in the context of widespread secondary antisemitism it risks being explained and understood in ways that are themselves antisemitic. Mathematical modelling has great potential to motivate students towards studying mathematics. This article discusses several different approaches to integrating research work with a second-year undergraduate, mathematical modelling subject. I found sourcing papers from the areas of epidemiology and ecology to be a fruitful source area, particularly models involving only two or three coupled differential equations. These models were amenable to students as well as interesting and relevant to students because they came from real research papers. I will describe the use of scenarios and case studies in lectures, and group projects for assessment. The scenarios and case studies were published in a textbook that I wrote. Scenarios, case studies and projects provided an opportunity to expose students to some novel applications of differential equations.
