Solvothermal reactions of AgNO3 with 9,10-anthraquinone-1,5-dicarboxylic acid (H2L) and 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) gave rise to a metal-organic framework, namely [Ag(L)(bipy)]n (1), which was structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses indicate that 1 exhibits a 2D 44 topology framework assembled by dinuclear [Ag2(COO)2] units, L and bipy ligands. 1 displays highly sensitivity in the detection of nitrobenzene (NB) as a fluorescent sensor. Moreover, 1 exhibits a relatively good photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution under UV irradiation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two supramolecular compounds [Fe(2,2'-bipy)3]2[ [image omitted](Cl)] · 4.67H2O (1) and [Ni(enMe)3]2[ [image omitted](Cl)] · 2H2O (2) have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TGA, ESR, magnetic properties, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal data for 1: tetragonal, I-42d, a = 13.6043(19), b = 13.6043(19), c = 50.544(10) Å, V = 9354(3) Å3; for 2: hexagonal, P6(3)/m, a = 12.6046(12), b = 12.6046(12), c = 22.563(5) Å, V = 3104.4(7) Å3. Compound 1 is constructed from cations [Fe(2,2'-bipy)3]3+, polyoxovanadates [ [image omitted](Cl)]6-, and water molecules. Compound 2 is composed of cations [Ni(enMe)3]2+, clusters [ [image omitted](Cl)]8-, and water molecules. A new complex with the formula [Na(H 2 O) 2 ] 6 [MoCo 6 O 12 (H 2 O) 12 ] · 4.3H 2 O has been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, thermal study, infrared spectrum. The complex is rose rhombic crystal and space group R‐3 m with a=11.9396(15) Å, b=11.9396(15) Å, c=22.995(3) Å, α=90°, β=90°, γ=120°, V=2838.9(9) Å 3 , Z=3, and R 1 =0.0612. The structure of the anion [MoCo 6 O 12 (H 2 O) 12 ] 6- has a hexagonal plane structure composed of a central Mo ion surrounded by six octahedron CoO 6 groups. Each CoO 6 shares an edge with each of its two neighboring CoO 6 and another edge with the MoO 6 octahedron. This is similar to the Anderson‐type strucure. The title inorganic-organic hybrid material containing a mixed anion, [BzIQl]2[Zn(NCS)2Br2] (1) (BzIQl = benzyl isoquinolinium, NCS− = isothiocyanate), crystallizes with a benzyl isoquinolinium cation and half of a bis(bromo)-bis(isothiocyanate)zinc(II) anion in the asymmetric unit. It was characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction (PXRD and SC-XRD). The organic cation exhibits a Λ-shaped configuration in which two aromatic rings form an inclined dihedral angle of 90.12°. The ZnII ion in the anion is coordinated by two Br ions and two isothiocyanate ions, and two contiguous anions forms a dimer through S···Br interactions. The thermal stability of the hybrid crystal analyzed by thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) reveals that the title crystal was stable up to 170 °C. The PXRD study confirms the phase purity of the crystalline sample. The band gap energy between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) explains the eventual charge transfer interaction that take place mainly between the anion and [BzIQl]+ cation, and the low value (0.46 ev) indicates the suitability of the crystal for optical application. The first hyperpolarizability predicted using density functional theory (DFT) is more than 720 times that of the reference potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystal (KDP). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, two different anionic ligands, 3,4-oxybis(benzoate) (bopH2) and sulfate, have been employed as co-ligands to perform a comparison on the structures of coordination polymers based on the Zn(II)–rigid 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)benzene (bib) net. Two new coordination polymers, {Zn(bib)(bop)}∞ (1) and {Zn(bib)(SO4)}∞ (2), were synthesized from hydrothermal reactions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 contains two unique 2-D layers, which are further interpenetrated to form a two-fold 2-D → 2-D framework. However, 2 consists of a 3-D structure with pcu topology constructed by sulfates as pillars. The structural difference of 1 and 2 indicates that size of the ancillary ligands play important roles in formation of such coordination architectures. A novel compound with the formula [Na2(H2O)10](NH4)3(NH3)[MoV9O28] has been synthesized for the first time and characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, infrared spectrum, UV spectrum, element analysis and ICP analysis. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1, with a=0.864 5(4) nm, b=1.044 8(4) nm, c=1.122 7(5) nm, α=69.245(6)°, β=87.224(6)°, γ=66.762(5)° and Z=1. The structure of the anion [MoV9O28]5- has a molybdenum atom mixing with nine vanadium atoms at certain positions in the similar backbone of the decanucleus structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Five N-heterocyclic carboxylate-based coordination complexes, [Co(L1)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (1), [Cd(L1)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (2), [Co(L2)(H2O)3] (3), [Ni(L2)(H2O)3] (4), and [Cu2(L2)2(H2O)2] (5), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, Powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analyses, and single-crystal X-ray crystallography, where HL1is 2-((5-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetic acid and H2L2is 2-((5-amino-1-(carboxymethyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetic acid. In these complexes, the hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) play an important role in their packing structures. Complex1has nine H-bonds showing a 3-Dsqc38topology. Complex2has 17 H-bonds exhibiting a 3-Dhxlnetwork. Complexes3and4are isomorphic, both of which possess ten H-bonds to present a 3-Dbtctopology. Complex5with eight H-bonds forms a 2-Dsq1structure. In addition, complex3catalyzes the decolorization of methyl orange. Meanwhile,1,3, and5show certain anticancer activities to inhibit the growth of HepG2 cells. Five N-heterocyclic carboxylate based coordination complexes are synthesized which all show hydrogen bonding supramolecular structures, and the photocatalytic and anticancer activities of them are investigated. Two new crystals MgCl2·2H2O·2C2H4(OH)2(1)and MgCl2·6H2O·C2H4(OH)2(2)assembled by MgCl2·6H2O and C2H4(OH)2have been synthesized.
