Four new tirucallane-type triterpenoids, polystanins H–K (1–4), were obtained from the stems and leaves of Aphanamixis polystachya. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of the spectroscopic data and comparison with literature data. Compounds 1 and 2 showed week inhibitory effects against NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. Global epidemiological evidence indicates high rates of mental illness but low rates of diagnosis among older people. In China, service providers identify older adults with mental disorders in varied ways. Taking Shanghai as an example, this study revealed how the identification methods of geriatric mental health disorders in nonspecialized institutions diverge, providing a reference for the integration of services. A purposive sampling method was adopted to conduct semi-structured interviews with 24 service providers from various nonspecialized geriatric mental health care institutions. Interview audio was recorded with consent and converted into verbatim transcripts. The interview data were analysed thematically. Although service providers from the health care system tended to apply a biomedical-oriented assessment, those from the social care system typically identified mental disorders among older people based on selective attention and interpersonal relationships. Although there are stark differences, the various identification mechanisms implicitly converge—the relationship with clients has become an important consideration. Geriatric mental health issues urgently require the integration of formal and informal care resources. To determine the occurrence of mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) in food contact papers in China, and to investigate the potential sources of MOH contamination, a total of 159 food contact papers and raw materials were analysed by off-line solid-phase extraction-gas chromatography flame ionisation detection (SPE-GC-FID) and a GC-MS method. The migration of MOH from food contact papers into Tenax, olive oil or 50% ethanol under the worst foreseeable conditions of use was determined. The results indicated that the occurrence of MOH in China is of a potential health risk concerning the migration of mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) which were detected in 82.6% and 50.4% of samples, respectively. Migration of MOSH from 47.9% of samples was higher than 2 mg/kg and migration of MOAH from 32.2% samples exceeded 0.5 mg/kg in case of the worst foreseeable condition of use. The highest mean migration of MOSH and MOAH were found in packaging papers for long-term storage (more than 6 months), with mean migration of 91.2 mg/kg and 1.4 mg/kg, respectively. Migration of MOH from printed paper was considerably higher than that of unprinted paper, validating previous findings that the printing ink is the predominant source of MOH contamination in food contact papers. Migration of MOH from paper bowls used for packing instant noodles was relatively low, suggesting the internal hollow layer may be acting as a functional barrier that could block the transfer of MOH (up to C28) through the gas phrase, even though the outer layer was made from recycled paper. High concentrations of MOSH and MOAH were also detected in de-foamers, adhesives and rosin sizing agents, indicating that the MOH contamination caused by the use of raw materials and additives should also be taken into consideration. The Wudaogou plutonic complex is located in the eastern Yanbian area of Jilin Province and consists of hornblende gabbros, gabbroic diorites, and quartz diorites that contain abundant dioritic microgranular xenoliths. Zircon U–Pb dating of gabbroic and quartz diorites yielded weighted mean206Pb/238Pb ages of 263.5 ± 5.1 Ma (N= 12, mean squared weighted deviation (MSWD) = 0.78, probability = 0.66) and 262.0 ± 5.6 Ma (N= 10, MSWD = 0.50, probability = 0.87), respectively. These units are characterized by high Na2O/K2O (0.33–0.77) ratios and Al2O3(15.05–18.91 wt%) concentrations and are large ion lithophile element (LILE) (light rare earth element (LREE), Rb, Ba, K, etc.) enriched and high field strength element (HFSE) (Nb, Ta, P, Ti) depleted. They also have initial87Sr/86Sr values of 0.70192–0.70420 and ϵNd(t) values of +1.9 to +4.7 with two-stage model ages (TDM2) of 653–878 Ma. These characteristics indicate that these rocks formed from calc–alkaline magmas derived from partial melting of a mixture of juvenile crust formed attending the Neoproterozoic subduction of the Palaeo-Asian oceanic crust and lower crustal material. The dioritic xenoliths have whole-rock compositions that are similar to their host rocks, but with negative ϵNd(t) values (−1.6 to −4.3) and older TDM2ages (1166–1382 Ma), further indicating that this magmatic event involved older crustal material. Combining these data with existing knowledge of the crustal evolution of this area, we conclude that this complex formed in a post-collisional extensional setting during closure of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean. To explore the potential effect of industrial transfer on carbon lock-in in China, this paper constructed the measurement formula of industrial transfer based on output and demand, and calculated carbon lock-in according to carbon sink and carbon emissions. By means of a spatial autoregressive model and a panel threshold model, we discussed the spatial spillover of carbon lock-in and the effect of industrial transfer. The findings are as follows: (1) The level of carbon lock-in does have a positive spatial spillover effect between economic neighboring provinces. (2) The effect of industrial transfer on carbon lock-in depends on industry characteristics. (3) Technological progress has direct and indirect carbon unlocking effects, energy structure, trade openness and increased fiscal expenditure exacerbate the carbon lock-in dilemma, while economic growth and carbon lock-in show an inverted "U" relationship. (4) There is a non-linear relationship between industrial transfer and carbon lock-in. Objective: To explore the association between polymorphism of the human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) and susceptibility of esophageal carcinoma (EC) in Kazakh and Han nationality in Xinjiang. Methods: The 14 bp deletion/insertion (rs16375) and 0105N (rs41557518) of HLA-G genotyping were determined by PCR and PCR-RFLP, respectively in 239 patients and 467 controls. Results: There was a 2.69-fold ( Pc == 0.04, 95% CI: 1.30-5.55) increased risk of developing EC in individuals with the −14 bp/−14 bp genotype (rs16375) compared with those carrying ++14 bp/++14 bp genotype in Kazakh after Bonferroni correction, there was no association of 0105N (rs41557518) both in Kazak and Han population. And there was a 2.82-fold ( Pc == 0.04, 95% CI: 1.32-6.04) increased risk of developing EC in individuals with −14 bp/−14 bp and C/C genotypes compared with those who had ++14 bp/++14 bp and C/C genotypes in Kazakh. Conclusions: The study demonstrates that EC is associated with polymorphism of HLA-G14 bp in Chinese Kazak population. To evaluate the value of nanopore targeted sequencing in diagnosing pneumonia pathogens. This large-scale multicentre prospective study performed in 8 hospitals across China from April to October 2022. Hospitalised patients with a diagnosis of pneumonia at admission were included. Complete clinical data were collected, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were obtained from each patient. These samples underwent simultaneous testing using conventional microbial testing, metagenomic next-generation sequencing, and nanopore targeted sequencing. A total of 218 patients were included. Among the 168 cases of pulmonary infection, 246 strains of pathogens were confirmed. Nanopore targeted sequencing outperformed conventional microbial testing, identifying more pathogens with a sensitivity increase of 47.9% (77.2% vs. 29.3%). Metagenomic next-generation sequencing had a sensitivity of 82.9%. Total of 70.1% patients had consistent results in both metagenomic next-generation sequencing and nanopore targeted sequencing. Nanopore targeted sequencing exhibited significantly higher sensitivity in detecting Pneumocystis jiroveci, cytomegalovirus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Nontuberculous mycobacteria, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae compared to conventional microbial testing. However, metagenomic next-generation sequencing demonstrated higher sensitivity than nanopore targeted sequencing for Aspergillus (88.5% vs. 53.8%). Regarding the detection of co-infections, nanopore targeted sequencing displayed significantly higher sensitivity than conventional microbial testing (76.7% vs. 28.7%) and was on par with metagenomic next-generation sequencing (76.7% vs. 82.9%). Nanopore targeted sequencing performs equally well as metagenomic next-generation sequencing in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid for pathogen diagnosis in pneumonia, both methods showing higher sensitivity than conventional microbial testing. Objective: To describe perinatal outcomes of twin pregnancies complicated by intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP).Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of women delivered at a large tertiary obstetric center in Shanghai, China from January 2006 to May 2014. Delivery data were abstracted from medical records of all twin gestations delivered at the hospital.Results: A total of 129/1922(6.7%) twin and 1190/92 273 singleton (1.3%) pregnancies were complicated by ICP. An increased risk of stillbirth among twin pregnancies was observed (3.9% and 0.8% in the ICP and non-ICP groups, respectively; aOR 5.75, 95% CI 2.00-16.6). Stillbirths with ICP and twins occurred between 33 and 35 weeks gestation compared to 36-38 weeks gestation among singletons. ICP in twins was also associated with an increased risk of preterm birth (<37 weeks) with an aOR of 4.17 (95% CI 2.47-7.04) and an aOR of 1.89 (95% CI 1.26-2.85) for delivery <35 weeks. Twin pregnancies complicated by ICP also had increased meconium staining of amniotic fluid and lower birth weight.Conclusions: Twin pregnancies with ICP have significantly increased risks of adverse perinatal outcomes including stillbirth and preterm birth. Innoculation of pneumococcal vaccines among the elderly is an effective public health policy to prevent pneumococcal diseases and it is widely promoted by many developed countries. The pneumococcal vaccination rate among the elderly in China was only 3.7% in 2019, it grew rapidly during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the psychological and demographic-economic factors related to the uptake behavior of pneumococcal vaccination among the Chinese elderly by using an integrated model based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), and knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP). The theoretical model was tested via structural equation modeling (SEM) with data collected from 516 Chinese older adults aged 60 years and older. Our results suggested that knowledge, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, attitude, and trust had a significant correlation with behavioral intention; behavioral intention and trust had a positive correlation with the uptake behavior, gender, and and education level and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exerted significant moderating effects. To increase the coverage of pneumococcal vaccination among the elderly, it is necessary to provide effective health education by authoritative experts, thereby enhancing their knowledge and positive attitude towardthe vaccination. This study sought to assess the differences in mental health conditions among the general population, quarantined population and healthcare workers during the COVID-19 outbreak in China. An online rapid assessment captured depressive and anxiety symptoms, and sleep quality data. A total of 2689 participants (n=374 general population, n=403 healthcare workers, n=1912 quarantined population) were included in the final statistical analysis. The proportion of individuals with mild and/or serious depression and anxiety were higher in the general population when compared to the quarantined population and healthcare workers (58.6% vs. 25.1%vs. 48.6%, P<0.001; 41.2% vs. 18.5% vs. 35.7%, P<0.001). The prevalence of sleep disturbance was higher among healthcare workers than the general population and quarantined population (29.8% vs. 24.1% vs. 22.7%, P=0.013). Logistic regression analysis showed that, perceived effect on daily life was associated with depression, anxiety and sleep disturbance in the general population, quarantined population and the healthcare workers. The general population had a greater risk of developing psychological problems. The healthcare workers suffered the poorest sleep quality. The microbial community structures, sulfur speciation, and their correlations in soil samples in and around Xiangtan Liejiaqiao Coal Gangue Dump in Hunan province south of China were analyzed with gene sequencing, sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure spectroscopy (XANES), and principal components analysis (PCA). The gene sequencing results showed that the microbes in soil samples fell into six phyla, i.e., Nitrospira, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, Deferribacteres, and Ktedonobacteria. The dominant bacteria species in the four samples were Moorella glycerini, Escherichia coli, Leptospirillum ferriphilum, Ferrimicrobium acidiphilum, Sulfobacillus benefaciens, and Desulfomonile tiedjei. According to the XANES results, sulfur speciation in soil samples was composed of sulfate, sulfite, thiosulfate, and organic sulfur. The PCA analysis among physicochemical characteristics, sulfur speciation, and distributions of microbes showed that oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) was correlated to the bacterial population of Proteobacteria, while pH was correlated to Ktedonobacteria. Furthermore, the correlation between sulfur speciation (sulfate and thiosulfate) and microbes (Deferribacteres, Nitrospira, and Actinobacteria) was particularly significant. The work investigated the concentration of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in surface water, sediments and aquatic plants of Nansi Lake, China. The total concentration of 12 PFCs was in the range of 34.07–153.39 ng/L in surface water. The short-chain PFCs were dominant PFC homologs, and the concentration of PFOA was higher than that of PFOS in water samples. The total concentration of 12 PFCs was in the range of 0.63–1.62 ng/g (dry weight, DW) in the sediments. There were more long-chain PFCs (PFOA and PFOS) than short-chain PFCs in sediments, with no apparent connection according to the concentration of PFCs in water and sediments. Moreover, the bioaccumulation factors (BAF) indicated the aquatic plants had significant absorption for long-chain PFCs (PFOA and PFOS), especially PFOS. The log BAF value of Ceratophyllum demersum Linn for PFOS was the highest in all aquatic plants. Risk assessment indicated that the water environment of Nansi Lake was at a safe level. Toll-like receptor 4 (rs4986790, rs4986791) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been shown to be associated with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), but the results are still inconclusive. The present meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between SNPs of TLR4 gene and AMD susceptibility. Relevant articles were obtained through computer retrieval of Pubmed, Embase, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and China wanfang database. Eligible articles were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and quality scores were made for them by NOS-scale. Relevant data were extracted for meta-analysis. The combined OR value and 95% confidence interval were used to evaluate the strength of the correlation. Funnel plot and Egger's regression were used to evaluate publication bias. All analyses were performed using STATA 11.0 software. A total of nine case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. After combination, an significant association was found between rs4986790 polymorphism and AMD susceptibility in heterozygote model (AG vs. AA, OR = 1.400, 95%CI = 1.049–1.867, P =.022) and dominant model (GG+AG vs. AA, OR = 1.365, 95%CI = 1.028–1.813, P =.032). There was no association found between rs4986791 polymorphism and AMD susceptibility in all genetic models (all P >.05). Funnel plot and Egger's regression analysis showed no publication bias existed in this study. Meta-analysis suggested that there is an association between TLR4 gene rs4986790 polymorphism and AMD susceptibility, while no association between rs4986791 polymorphism and AMD susceptibility. The purposes of this study were to: (1) study the prevalence of pain in patients with mild-to-very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in China; (2) compare the differences in pain characteristics between stable COPD and acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD); (3) explore the clinical associations with pain in those with COPD. This cross-sectional study was conducted in China from October 24, 2017, to January 11, 2019. A face-to-face interview was conducted to collect data. The Chinese version of the brief pain inventory (BPI-C) was applied to investigate the pain characteristics in patients with COPD. Of the 901 patients in this study, 226 (25.1%) patients reported pain problems. The prevalence of pain in patients with mild to very severe COPD was 32.9%, 23.9%, 25.2%, and 23.5%, respectively (p = 0.447). According to the BPI-C results, 31.3% (31/99) of patients reported pain of AECOPD, compared to 24.3% (195/802) of stable COPD (p = 0.13). Reported pain intensity and pain interference evaluated by the BPI-C were significantly higher in AECOPD than stable COPD (p < 0.001, p < 0.05, respectively). Those with body mass index (BMI) ≥ 24kg/m2 or COPD assessment test (CAT) score > 20 were significantly more likely to have pain problems than BMI < 24kg/m2 (aOR = 1.568, a95IC = 1.132–2.170, p = 0.007) or CAT ≤ 20 (aOR= 1.754, a95IC = 1.213–2.536, p = 0.003). Pain was common in patients with both stable COPD and AECOPD. AECOPD patients had a significantly higher pain intensity than stable COPD. A novel heteroglycan TLH-G was successfully isolated from Tricholoma lobayense cultivated in south China. TLH-G was composed of five monosaccharides, namely, mannose, rhamnose, glucuronic acid, glucose and galactose, and consisted of →1)-β-D-Glcp-(6→ and →1)-α-D-Galp-(3→ motifs. TLH-G had excellent scavenging activities towards 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS) radicals. Structure-activity relationship analysis demonstrated that glycosidic bond types, monosaccharide composition, and branching degree were more important for the antioxidant activity of polysaccharides from Tricholoma lobayense than other structural factors. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of depressive symptoms for patients with type-2 diabetes at the population level in China and explore differences in demographic, socioeconomic, and disease-specific parameters between diabetic patients with and without depression. Self-rating depression scale was used to screen for depressive symptoms in 667 patients with type-2 diabetes from 4 communities in Beijing; their quality of life and social support was assessed using appropriate and validated tools. The results indicate that 44.23% of diabetic patients report depressive symptoms; patients with depressive symptoms had a significantly higher rate of diabetic complications, a lower quality of life and less social support than patients without depressive symptoms. The authors report the results of a hospital-based case-control study of all patients diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) (n = 36) from 28 participating hospitals over a 4-year period. Diagnoses were made by a single laboratory using 2001 World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Subjects were matched to 2 control patients and interviewed concerning previous diseases, work histories, and exposures to potential etiologic agents. Peripheral blood and bone marrow findings revealed clinical features of both myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs) and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), consistent with hematopoietic disease category of MDS/MPN. The frequency of clonal cytogenetic abnormalities in all CMML cases was 31%, with no consistent pattern identified. A select number of risk factors associated with occupational exposure, nonoccupational exposure, and prior medical or family history of disease were extracted from the questionnaire. The results were compared between the case and control subjects. A total of 5 study subjects (2 CMML cases and 3 control subjects) were determined to have had some benzene exposure. In addition, none of the highlighted risk factors associated with nonoccupational exposure to etiologic agents was significantly different among the study subjects. Ophiopogon japonicus polysaccharide (FOJ-5) from Radix ophiopogonis has shown anti-myocardial ischemic action in vitro and in vivo in our previous studies. In order to clarify the influence of chemical modifications on the action, a series of sulfated FOJ-5 (FOJ-5-S) with different substitution degrees were prepared and the anti-myocardial ischemic action of the natural FOJ-5 and the FOJ-5-S were studied in vitro and in vivo. Langendorff isolated rat hearts and acute myocardial ischemic rats induced by isoprenaline were employed as myocardial ischemic models in our experiments. The amplitude and frequency of cardiac contraction, coronary blood flow at different time points after ischemia/reperfusion were measured in vitro. The ST segment shift in electrocardiogram and lactate dehydrogenase level in blood plasma were observed on the in vivo model. The results indicated that FOJ-5 and FOJ-5-S had the anti-myocardial ischemic action compared with non-treated vehicle groups. Furthermore, it was found that FOJ-5-S had significant action on the in vivo model compared with FOJ-5 (P < 0.05). And the obtained results from the further study also indicated that only when the degree of substitution was in a certain range, the FOJ-5-S had excellent anti-myocardial ischemic activity.
