Anxiety and depressive symptoms are prevalent in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and there is a great need for culturally relevant interventions to improve anxiety and depressive symptoms in women with PCOS. The current study aimed to analyze the factors influencing body-image satisfaction, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in Chinese women with PCOS. It also aimed to clarify the association between body-image satisfaction and anxiety and depressive symptoms in women with PCOS, and whether this association was mediated by cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. A total of 477 women with PCOS were recruited from the Department of Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine Center of one university-affiliated tertiary hospital in China. They completed the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the Body Image States Scale, and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. The study found body-image satisfaction showed significant associations with anxiety and depressive symptoms. This association was mediated by cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. The findings of this study offer new insights into the relationship between body image and anxiety and depressive symptoms in women with PCOS. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the experiences, emotional coping strategies, and help-seeking needs of women with PCOS from their perspective, considering common psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression that are prevalent among individuals with PCOS. Materials and Methods: The study recruited 14 women with PCOS for semi-structured interviews between October and November 2022, using a descriptive phenomenology method design. The interviews were analyzed using NVivo 12 software. Results: Four themes and eleven subthemes were derived from the semi-structured interviews: (1) Negative Mental Health Status; (2) Four Patterns of Emotion Regulation; (3) The Psychological Double-Edged Sword: Family Social Network; (4) Strong Demands for Psychological Counseling and Lifestyle Guidance. Conclusion: The study suggests that interventions should focus on fostering internalized self-efficacy and emotional expression, promoting constructive familial support, and providing psychological counseling and lifestyle recommendations to alleviate psychological distress experienced by women with PCOS. Chemotherapy is the primary treatment for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, related dose-dependent toxicity limits its clinical use. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new strategies for improving the clinical outcomes while reducing the side effects of chemotherapy in the treatment of NSCLC. In this study, we designed and synthesized epidermal growth factor (EGF)-modified doxorubicin nanoparticles (EGF@DOX-NPs) that selectively targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) overexpressed in lung tumor cells. When administered in combination with low-dose X-ray radiotherapy (RT), the NPs preferentially accumulated at the tumor site due to radiation-induced outburst of the local intra-tumoral blood vessels. Compared with DOX alone, EGF@DOX-NPs significantly decreased the viability and migration and enhanced the apoptosis rates of tumor cells in vitro. Also, the EGF@DOX-NPs significantly inhibited tumor growth in vivo, increasing the survival of the tumorbearing mice without apparent systemic toxic effects through RT-induced aggregation. The tumor cell proliferation was greatly inhibited in the RTþEGF@DOX-NPs group. Contrarily, the apoptosis of tumor cells was significantly higher in this group. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the application of kenaf straw as a building material for phytoremediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil. The kenaf straw core (KSC) content, kenaf fibre content and KSC particle size were used as factors to study the effects of a slightly cadmium-enriched kenaf straw on the mechanical and thermal properties of cement mortar. XRD, thermogravimetry and SEM were also carried out to study the microstructure of the cement mortar. The safety and reliability of the slightly cadmium-enriched kenaf straw in the cement mortar was evaluated by a heavy metal leaching test. The results show that the compressive and flexural strengths of the cement mortar decreased with increasing KSC content, but the 28-day strength of the cement mortar with a maximum KSC content of 8% can still meet engineering requirements. In addition, the cement mortar demonstrated good thermal insulation performance, the thermal conductivity and dry density of the mortar were significantly reduced, and the bond strength and crack resistance of cement mortar were also improved. The cadmium enriched in kenaf straw did not affect the strength of cement mortar, and the leaching concentration of the heavy metal was far below the prescribed safety limit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of urbanization results in a marked increase in impervious areas, destroying the natural geological features and hydrological properties of the urban developed area. This may cause high risk of flooding, runoff pollution, and water shortages. An integral method is proposed to realize the multi-goals management of stormwater runoff, which called sponge city construction, and taken a pilot area of sponge city construction as an example to evaluate the effect of sponge city construction on stormwater quantity control via InfoWorks Integrated Catchment Model (ICM) model. The results showed that the annual total rainfall volume capture ratio is 77.4%, the drainage pipeline capacity was improved and flooding risk was decreased effectively. The high-risk flooding area was reduced about 44.76% of 50-year return period rainfall event with rainfall duration of 24 h. The Yangtze Estuary is the largest estuary in the western Pacific Ocean, and harbors a high diversity of fish fauna. In this study, larval fish were surveyed monthly across three sections within the southern branch of the Yangtze Estuary (SBYE). A total of 49 taxa were collected, with 51.4% of the identified species being freshwater fishes. The collected numbers of larval taxa in the upper, middle, and lower sections were 22, 28, and 43, respectively. Species with differing salinity adaptations displayed different patterns along the direction of freshwater input. The collected numbers of larval taxa were 47 and 29 in the near-shore and mid-stream areas, respectively; and the abundances of larval fish in the near-shore areas tended to be higher than in the mid-stream areas in all the three sections. Larval fish occurred year-round with two peaks of abundance. Our results suggest that the freshwater input was the dominant factor shaping larval fish assemblage structure and dynamics within the SBYE. Influences of the Three Gorges Dam and South-to-North Water Transfer Project on larval fish assemblages within the SBYE should be considered with regard to conservation practices. A novel methodology was developed based on oil-based foam to systematically investigate foamy oil stability. The first step was to generate an oil-based analogue model that has similar characteristics of foamy oil. Then, the effects of the key factors were investigated with the created oil-based foam by a new experimental procedure. Moreover, a statistical approach was utilized to ensure reliability of the experimental data. Finally, we proposed a new method to describe foamy oil rupture and simulate its defoaming kinetics. In this work, an active nano-catalyst with gold nanoparticles loaded in hollow mesoporous silica nanospheres (HMSNs/Au) was prepared by a one-pot sol-gel method, in which gold ions were loaded in hollow mesoporous silica spheres followed by sodium alginate reduction. The characterization of the HMSNs/Au were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2adsorption–desorption isotherms (BET). The high catalytic activity of HMSNs/Au, denoted as apparent turn-over frequency (TOF), was detected by UV-Vis spectrophotometer for the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (74.5 h−1) and 2-nitrophenol (108.7 h−1) in the presence of sodium borohydride solution due to the small gold nanoparticles size and overall exposure of active sites. It is expected that this ecofriendly approach to prepare inorganic composited nanoparticles as high active catalysts based on hollow mesoporous materials was a promising platform for loading noble metal nanoparticles. Co-digestion of pulp and paper sludge (PPS) and food waste (FW) in a batch-fed digestion system was conducted on a laboratory scale. Three reactors named A1, A2, and A3 were tested. PPS and FW mixed at different mass ratios of 1:3, 1:1, and 3:1, respectively, were loaded in the reactors. Bioconversion at high efficiency was obtained in the system. The accumulative methane yield of each reactor was 144 mL g−1VSfed (A1), 256 mL g−1VSfed (A2), and 123 mL g−1VSfed (A3). The soluble chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiencies reached 73.2% (A1), 93.9% (A2), and 79.6% (A3). A pH in the range 5.8–8.4 was obtained in the three reactors without adjustment due to the high buffer capacity of the mixing feedstock. No toxicity inhibitions of volatile fatty acids and NH3-N occurred in reactor A2. This study showed that it was good for co-digestion of PPS and FW in a mass ratio of 1:1 for methane production, which resulted in higher methane yield, a greater buffer capacity, a higher organics removal efficiency, and a more stable process. Two new compounds, [Zn(phen)3]2[γ-As8V14O42(H2O)] · 4H2O (1) and [Cd(phen)3]2[γ-As8V14O42(H2O)] · 2H2O (2) (phen = 1,10'-phenanthroline), have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum, and thermogravimetric analysis. A long-chain surfactant, enzoylbenzyl-N,N-dimethyl-N-octadecylammonium bromide (BDOB) with a benzophenone group, was synthesized to modify the montmorillonites (MMT) for the preparation of nanocomposites via photo-induced polymerization. The BDOB-modified MMT was characterized by the fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results of XRD indicated that the intercalated structures of BDOB-modified MMT was obtained. The conversion of the bisphenol A epoxy diacrylate (EA) was quantified by the FTIR, and the results indicated that conversion increased with an increase in the amount of BDOB-modified MMT. The morphologies of the UV-cured EA/MMT nanocomposites prepared from this organically modified MMT were studied by means of XRD and TEM, and the results showed that all the samples contained an intercalated structure with partial exfoliated structure. The results of TGA and mechanical properties also indicated that the thermal and mechanical properties of UV-cured nanocomposites were significantly enhanced due to the presence of the long chain surfactant organically modified MMT. Two new arsenic-vanadate compounds [Co(C4H13N3)2]2[As8V14O42(H2O)] · 3.5H2O (1) and (C2N2H9)2(C2N2H10)[As8V14O42(H2O)] · 2.33H2O (2) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, IR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c, a = 24.649(9) Å, b = 13.364(5) Å, c = 22.463(8) Å, β = 104.008(5)°, V = 7180(5) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0787, and wR2 = 0.1859. Compound 2 crystallizes in rhombohedral system with space group R3c, a = b = c = 22.2405(5) Å, α = β = γ = 110.4030(10)°, V = 8163.4(3) Å3, Z = 6, R1 = 0.0341 and wR2 = 0.0941. The structural analyses show that both compounds have the same discrete cluster anion [As8V14O42(H2O)]4-. Moreover, in 1, the polyanions are connected through van der Waals forces to generate soft channels that are filled by [Co(C4H13N3)2]2+ cations and water. To improve the accuracy of detecting changes in remote sensing time series, an improved algorithm based on the combination of the antileakage least-squares spectral analysis (ALLSSA) algorithm and detecting breakpoints and estimating segments in trends (DBEST) algorithm is proposed and applied. The method uses the ALLSSA algorithm to decompose the time series and identify the trend components in the time series. Then, the trend segmentation mechanism of the DBEST algorithm is used to detect the changes in the trend component. In this paper, the improved algorithm is evaluated using a simulated time series data set, a time series data set with multiple change points, and data set based on the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) remote sensing time series. The results demonstrate that the average detection accuracies of the improved algorithm and DBEST algorithm are 98.4% and 85.2%, respectively, for the simulated time series data set. For the time series data set with multiple change points, the average root mean square errors (RMSEs) of the trend data for the improved and DBEST algorithms are 0.0386 and 0.0331, respectively. The mean normalized residual norms (MNRNs) of the improved and DBEST algorithms are 0.0252 and 0.0351, respectively. Finally, the improved algorithm, DBEST algorithm, and breaks for additive season and trend (BFAST) algorithm are applied to MODIS NDVI data, and their performance with remote sensing data is compared. The improved algorithm has higher detection accuracy and a smaller MNRN, indicating that more information is included in the trend and seasonal components.
