Chimeric antigen receptor modified T Cell therapy (CAR-T) is a rapidly developing treatment for patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell lymphoma (NHL) or multiple myeloma (MM). Anticoagulation was continued for 11 days in 1 patient before being held due to thrombocytopenia, 3 months in 3 patients, 150 days in 1 patient, and indefinitely in 1 patient with concomitant atrial fibrillation. In 2014, autologous hematopoietic cell transplant (autoHCT) was removed from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines as a recommended treatment for patients with intermediate-risk AML in first complete remission (CR1). We reviewed the outcomes of all patients with intermediate-risk AML treated with autoHCT in CR1 at our institution. Of 334 patients who underwent autoHCT for AML between 1988 and 2013, 133 patients with intermediate-risk AML in CR1 were identified. Cytogenetics were diploid in 97 (73%). With a median follow-up of 4.1 years (range 0.1–17), median overall survival (OS) is 6.7 years; at 5 years post-transplant, 59% of patients remain alive and 43% remain relapse-free. Forty-eight percent of relapsing patients proceeded to salvage alloHCT. Our findings demonstrate that nearly half of patients with intermediate-risk AML in CR1 achieve sustained remissions, and that salvage alloHCT is feasible in those who relapse. Primary lymphomas of the cervix and uterus are rare with ∼⃒150 cases reported in the world literature to date. Appropriate diagnosis is often delayed until the post-operative setting as clinical and radiographic presentations are non-specific. Several sub-types of lymphoma arising primarily in the cervix or uterus have been reported with diffuse large B-Cell lymphoma (DLBCL) being the most frequent. Due to the low incidence of this disease, no randomized clinical trials exist to help guide treatment. This study reports the experience of four patients with primary lymphomas of the uterus and cervix that reflect the heterogeneity of cases reported in the literature to date. The patients had a mean age at diagnosis of 46 (range 35 – 56) and presented with abnormal uterine bleeding. One patient was diagnosed by total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH), two patients were diagnosed by cervical biopsy and one patient was diagnosed by endometrial biopsy. Three patients had DLBCL and one patient had marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). All patients had stage IIE disease. Of the patients with DLBCL, one received chemotherapy followed by TAH and two received TAH followed by chemotherapy. Two of these three patients remain disease-free post-initial therapy with the third now disease-free post-salvage therapy and autologous stem cell transplant. The patient with MZL was treated with TAH alone and remains disease-free. Based on the case series and a review of available literature, primary lymphomas of the uterus or cervix are rare and require an individualized approach to treatment. We describe a patient with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection who presented with extranodal (right salivary gland and bone marrow) marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). Within a year, the lymphoma progressed to involve peripheral lymph nodes and the liver. After treatment of HCV with peginterferon and ribavirin, he achieved complete radiographic response and remains in remission two years later. This is an example of a patient in whom treatment of HCV infection led to regression of non-splenic, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma. It suggests that HCV testing and treatment should be considered in all patients with marginal zone lymphomas, including non-splenic types. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We describe a patient with extranodal (pulmonary) marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) who was refractory to treatment with cytotoxic chemotherapy. After a single four-week course of rituximab she had significant regression of pulmonary lesions and remains progression free 19 months after finishing her treatment. This case report demonstrates the potential efficacy of rituximab as a single therapeutic agent in patients with pulmonary MALT lymphoma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
