This paper falls within the scope of heritage tourism studies, focusing particularly on one UNESCO World Heritage Site. It seeks to contribute to tourism literature by achieving a better understanding of which cognitive and affective factors are behind tourists' decisions to travel to these sites, their experiences during their visit and behavioural intention after the visit. A self-administered questionnaire focusing on the variables included in the proposed research model was given to tourists. A composite-based structural equation modelling approach was employed for the analysis. The findings revealed a significant and high correlation between travel attitude and perceived authenticity, travel motivations and destination image, and authenticity and destination image, but it goes beyond those relations by analyzing them in an integrated manner and at different stages of the visit to comprehend tourist behavioural intention after the visit. Besides the theoretical advancements with this study, the practical and managerial implications must be emphasized particularly for entities responsible for destination marketing that may be able to use the outcome of our research to work on proper promotion strategies. In 1806, High Court judge Luiz Gonzaga de Carvalho e Britto published the first Portuguese manual devoted to making property-register books. In this, he advocated a curious method for surveying and drawing estate maps, one based on his own experience as a mapmaker. Britto's aim in compiling the manual was to instruct other judges in the map-making techniques needed for registering property. In this article, Britto's maps and method of map making, as articulated in his manual, offer a window into the practice of estate mapping in early nineteenth-century Portugal. They also convey an idea that was controversial in its time: that judges themselves should be involved in the production of estate maps. While estate mapping was common across Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in Portugal they were a rare phenomenon, hence the scarcity of these maps in archives, and the uniqueness of Britto's example. This paper studies the music from the sixteenth century Coimbra manuscripts using both traditional musicological approaches and techniques based on statistical analysis and machine learning. A particular focus is placed on gaining insights into the origins of the anonymous and doubtfully attributed mass movements, looked at through the lens of potential stylistic differences between the Iberian and Franco-Flemish musical traditions of the time. A great number of potentially toxic elements are introduced into soils by numerous anthropogenic activities, such as the foundry industry and may have negative consequences on the environment and subsequently on human health. This paper reports the characterization of soil samples collected at the facilities of an old foundry, already demolished, that operated during the last century in an industrial area in the Center of Portugal, Coimbra. The mineralogy, physicochemical parameters, and geochemistry of the soil foundry's area, were studied and compared with regional soil parameters to understand the impact of the foundry's activity on the soil. The enrichment and degree of contamination in the factory soil were also assessed, according to public guidelines. Foundry soil was found to exhibit higher average contents of Al2O3, Fe2O3(t), SiO2, TiO2, Zr, Sr, Rb, Pb, Zn, Cu, V, Nb, and Bi, than the corresponding regional baseline values. Specifically, the soil in the foundry area is polluted with Cu, Pb, and Zn. PCA analysis allowed to distinguish the natural soil from the foundry contaminated soil and the contribution of the spent sands and iron slags in the modification of the geochemistry of the regional soil. The contaminants and pollutants are not uniformly distributed as they show the higher concentrations in places of local storage, disposal, and finishing of materials used in the foundry.
