Increased knee flexion angles are associated with reduced non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury risks. Ankle plantar flexion angles and internal risk factors could influence knee flexion angles, but their correlations are unknown. This study aimed to establish and validate a regression model to predict knee flexion angles using ankle plantar flexion angles, body mass index (BMI) and generalised joint laxity (GJL) at initial contact of single-leg drop landings. Thirty-two participants performed single-leg drop landings from a 30-cm-high platform. Kinematics and vertical ground reaction forces were measured using a motion capture system and force plate. A multiple regression was performed, and it was validated using a separate data set. The prediction model explained 38% (adjusted R2) of the change in knee flexion angles at initial contact (p = 0.001, large effect size). However, only the ankle plantar flexion angle (p < 0.001) was found to be a significant predictor of knee flexion angles. External validation further showed that the model explained 26% of knee flexion angles (large effect size). The inverse relationship between ankle plantar flexion and knee flexion angles suggests that foot landing strategies could be used to increase knee flexion angles, thereby reducing non-contact ACL injury risks. BackgroundPurposeMethodsResultsConclusionComparisons of talar cartilage and the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) profiles in individuals with different levels of chronic ankle instability (CAI) provide insight into early adaptation of tissue morphology.This study compared morphologic response and recovery of the talar cartilage and ATFL before and after 30-min of self-paced treadmill running between individuals with CAI, coper (full recovery from a first-time ankle sprain), and healthy controls.Sixty young males (24.8 years, 176.9 cm, 75.7 kg) were allocated into the CAI, coper, and healthy control group by their number of ankle sprains and scores on the self-reported ankle instability questionnaires (Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool, and Foot and Ankle Ability Measure-Activities of Daily Living). Ultrasonographic images in the cross-sectional area (CSA; overall, lateral, and medial) and ATFL length (unstressed and stressed and position) before and after treadmill running were recorded and analyzed.There were no group by time interactions in the talar cartilage CSA (F14,399 <1.09, p > .36 for all tests) and ATFL length (F14,399< .69, p > .79 for all tests). Regardless of time, CAIs had the largest overall (F2,399 = 42.68, p < .001), lateral (F2,399 = 37.16, p < .001), and medial (F2,399 = 36.57, p < .001) CSA of talar cartilage and the longest stressed-ATFL length (F2,399 = 54.42, p < .001), followed by copers and healthy controls.Morphologic features of the talar cartilage and ATFL appear to depend on the level of ankle instability (e.g. a history of recurrent ankle sprain). This study aims to examine the effects of different attention focuses on muscle strength and balance performance in individuals with Generalized Joint Hypermobility (GJH). This randomized crossover trial included 32 individuals with GJH whose Beighton score was greater than 5. Subjects performed each task under external attentional focus, internal attentional focus, and neutral attentional focus condition. Knee extensor muscle strength was measured using the Isokinetic Dynamometer. Postural stability was evaluated using the Biodex Balance System, while dynamic balance was assessed using the Y Balance Test. The main effects of attentional focus on the outcomes were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and post-hoc corrections with a 95% confidence interval. Subjects produced significantly higher quadriceps peak torque during external focus instruction and internal focus instruction compared to neutral condition (p = .006). Postural stability performance were found to be better during external attention focus compared to the internal focus of attention and the neutral group (p = .008). In addition, an increase in Y balance composite score was observed during external condition compared to internal condition and neutral condition (p < .001). Whether internal or external, the use of attentional focus may be beneficial for optimal force production during training in individuals with GJH. Knee collateral ligaments play a vital role in providing frontal-plane stability in post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA) knees. Finite element models can utilize computationally efficient one-dimensional springs or more physiologically accurate three-dimensional continuum elements like the Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden (HGO) formulation. However, there is limited literature defining subject-specific mechanical properties, particularly for the HGO model. In this study, we propose a co-simulation framework to obtain subject-specific material parameters for an HGO-based finite element ligament model integrated into a rigid-body model of the post-TKA knee. Our approach achieves comparable accuracy to spring formulations while significantly reducing coefficient calibration time and demonstrating improved correlation with reference knee kinematics and ligament strains throughout the tested loading range. Variations in ZNF469 have been associated with Brittle Cornea Syndrome that presents with bluish sclera, loss of vision after trivial trauma, arachnodactyly, and joint laxity. Detailed medical and family history, physical examination, and molecular analysis. A 21-year-old female presented with bluish discoloration of sclera, diminution of vision following trivial trauma in childhood along with hearing loss and systemic features of arachnodactyly and joint laxity. Clinical diagnosis of brittle cornea syndrome was made which was molecularly proven using next-generation sequencing which identified compound heterozygosity in ZNF469 for pathogenic and likely pathogenic nonsense variants. One variant namely NM_001367624.2:c.5882dup was identified in the exon 3 which was novel and classified as likely pathogenic according to American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) criteria for variant classification. Another variant NM_001367624.2:c.8992C>T in the exon 2 was classified as pathogenic for Brittle Cornea Syndrome 1. The report adds to the allelic heterogeneity in ZNF469 causative of Brittle Cornea Syndrome 1 and shall acquaint the physicians about this potentially vision threatening, underdiagnosed, rare syndrome. To evaluate the immediate and 4-week effects of compression garments (CG) on balance using a force platform during 8 different visual, static, and dynamic conditions in hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) patients. Thirty-six participants were randomly assigned to a group: physiotherapy alone (PT, n = 19) or physiotherapy and daily CG wearing for 4 weeks (PT + CG, n = 17). Both attended 12 physiotherapy sessions (strengthening, proprioception, and balance exercises) for 4 weeks. Primary outcome: sway velocity of the centre of pressure (COP) measured before, immediately with the CG, and at 4 weeks. Secondary outcomes: ellipse area, Romberg quotient, and pain. Sway velocity in dynamic conditions decreased immediately with the CG. After 4 weeks of intervention, sway velocity (95% CI 4.36–39.23, effect size 0.93) and area (95% CI 146–3274, effect size 0.45) on the laterally oscillating platform with eyes-closed improved more in the PT + CG group than the PT group. Romberg quotient on foam cushion improved more in the PT + CG than the PT group. Pain decreased in both groups after 4 weeks with no between-group difference. CG combined with physiotherapy improved dynamic balance measured with COP variables significantly more than physiotherapy alone in people with hEDS. Firefighters often experience low back pain (LBP), but their back muscle characteristics are not well studied. This study aimed to 1) compare the biomechanical characteristics of back muscles and self-reported back disabilities in frontline firefighters with and without LBP history, and 2) examine the relationships between back disability and biomechanical measurements. We recruited 42 male firefighters and assessed their perceived pain and disabilities, maximum isometric back extension strength, passive stiffness, and fatigability of the longissimus. 54.8% of the participants experienced LBP within the past year. Those indicating higher pain intensity also had greater disability as indicated by the Oswestry Disability Index. There were no significant differences in strength, stiffness or fatigability of the back muscles between firefighters with and without LBP history. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed no significant relationship between the back disability and any biomechanical or demographic measures, likely due to the high functional abilities of the participants. Approximately 50% of the firefighters who participated in the study experienced low back pain in the past 12 months. Since the pain level was mild to moderate, most of them continued to report to work. Biomechanically, there were no differences in back muscle strength, stiffness, resistance to fatigue, or left-right symmetry between firefighters with and without back pain history. Back disabilities were not related to any biomechanical measures or demographics including age and body mass index. Clinical onset and exacerbation of autosomal dominant SPG9A hereditary spastic paraplegia, including reversible wasting, has been described during pregnancy. SPG9A is due to ALDH18A1 mutations resulting in proline and ornithine deficiency. We present the case of a 29 year old primagravida at 32 weeks who presented with six months of upper limb amyotrophic wasting on a background unrecognized progressive spasticity due to SPG9A. The wasting reversed significantly following delivery. Our report highlights the unusual clinical features including cataract and joint laxity which may suggest SPG9A, echoes the existing descriptions of pregnancy-related provocation of amyotrophy in this condition and documents the outcome of two subsequent pregnancies following dietary intervention. This cross-sectional mixed-method study examined healthcare experiences among individuals in the US with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), genetic connective tissue disorders. We hypothesized that many individuals with these conditions would report low satisfaction with healthcare and low health-related quality of life, and that lower healthcare satisfaction would be related to lower health-related quality of life and self-efficacy for symptom management. Adults living in the US with hEDS or HSD (N= 2125) completed an online survey assessing satisfaction with healthcare, health-related quality of life, and symptom management self-efficacy. Qualitative data also were gathered on desired changes to improve healthcare. Participants reported low satisfaction with healthcare and lower health-related quality of life and symptom management self-efficacy than norm groups. Lower satisfaction with healthcare was associated with lower health-related quality of life and lower symptom management self-efficacy, ps <.001. The most common desired change to improve healthcare was more knowledge about hEDS and HSD among healthcare professionals. U.S. adults with joint hypermobility report negative healthcare experiences and poor health-related quality of life. Future research should explore ways to improve the healthcare experiences and quality of care for individuals with hEDS and HSD. Individuals with hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) score worse than the U.S. population on most health-related quality of life domains and symptom management self-efficacy. Individuals with HSD and hEDS report low levels of satisfaction with healthcare compared to norm groups. Participants particularly wanted to see improvements in the level of awareness and education about HSD and hEDS among healthcare professionals, provider attitudes about HSD and hEDS, and healthcare accessibility and convenience. This paper contributes to the robust dialogue in animal geographies by adding a focus on mobilities. Trans-paw-tation establishes a framework for understanding animal mobilities by drawing on a range of epistemological and methodological approaches, all of which aim to better understand animals and their role in the world. It goes on to propose three approaches to trans-paw-tation and the theoretical possibilities of thinking across animal geographies and mobilities: first, by reflecting on the movement of animals and animals' movements in both the historic and contemporary city; second by examining animal policies and the ways in which animals are included and excluded from urban mobilities; and third, by considering the metaphorical and symbolic associations between animals and mobilities. These deliberations are based in South African cities where both animal and transport geographies have been exploited as a mechanism for discrimination and control, and in the postapartheid context, offer opportunities for social and spatial integration. In so doing, this paper moves beyond anthropocentric approaches to mobilities by bringing animal geographies into conversation with African and urban studies and by offering a methodological contribution towards understanding trans-paw-tation. To investigate the impact of generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) on eating behavior. Physical therapy and rehabilitation students. The Beighton evaluation (a cutoff of 5/9) for defining GJH. The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-40) was used for eating disorders. Smoking habits and alcohol use were also questioned. Compared with 51 non-GJH students (mean age 20.5 years, 73% female), 46 students with asymptomatic GJH (20.6 years, 89% female) were more likely to have greater median EAT-40 scores (9 vs. 6, p =.002). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the susceptibility to eating behavior disorders (6.5% vs. 2.0%), smoking habits (6.5% vs. 9.8%), and alcohol use (15.2% vs. 11.8%) (p >.05). Positive correlation (r =.221, p =.029) and positive effect (R = 0.221, R2 = 0.049; p <.05) between Beighton scores and EAT-40 scores were found. Osteoporotic osteoarthritis (OPOA) is a specific phenotype of OA with high incidence and severe cartilage damage. This study aimed to explore the protective efficacy of PEMF on the progression of OPOA and observed the effects of PEMF on PPARγ, autophagy- and apoptosis-related proteins in OPOA rats. Rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group, OPOA group, and PEMF group (n = 6). One week after surgery, the rats in PEMF group were subjected to PEMF (3.82 mT, 8 Hz, 40 min/day and 5 day/week) for 12 weeks. Results showed that PEMF retarded cartilage degeneration and bone loss, as evidenced by pathological staining image, decreased MMP-13 expression and increased bone mineral density. PEMF inhibited the serum levels of inflammatory cytokines, and the expressions of caspase-3 and caspase-8, while upregulated the expression of PPARγ. Moreover, PEMF significantly improved the autophagy disorders, represented by decrease expressions of Beclin-1, P62, and LC3B. The research demonstrates that PEMF can effectively prevent cartilage and subchondral bone destruction in OPOA rats. The potential mechanism may be related to upregulation of PPARγ, inhibition of chondrocyte apoptosis and inflammation, and improvement of autophagy disorder. PEMF therapy thus shows promising application prospects in the treatment of postmenopausal OA. We found that PEMF significantly inhibited the inflammatory response, ameliorated the damaged cartilage and subchondral bone in OPOA rats, that maybe related to the regulation of chondrocyte autophagy and apoptosis. Background: Considerations of the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) and its role in causing lower back and limb pain have taken a secondary role ever since Mixter and Barr's hallmark article in 1934 on the herniated nucleus pulposus. However, recent literature has highlighted the contribution of sacroiliac joint degeneration in the development of failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), especially in patients undergoing lumbar or lum-bosacral spinal fusion surgeries. Many reports have studied the anatomy, physiology, and clinical significance of the sacroiliac joint, but none have linked its dysfunction with other spinal deformities. Case Description: A 63-year-old female with a history of multiple complex instrumented spinal fusions presented to our institution with progressive leftward coronal imbalance despite successful arthrodesis from T3 through S1. She was initially treated with decompression and reimplantation, but adjacent segment disease at the SIJ led to laxity, distal failure, and a worsening coronal deformity. A mechanical fall after her decompression surgery led to a dramatically increased coronal imbalance, which was ultimately treated using Lenke's kickstand rod technique. At 3.5 years follow up, the patient's coronal balance remains stable. Conclusion: Few studies have related SIJ degeneration and laxity with spinal deformity. Our case describes SIJ degeneration that evolved to joint laxity, which ultimately produced a leftward coronal imbalance according to the adjacent segment disease mechanism. Additionally, we describe the use of a kickstand rod to effectively correct the coronal imbalance, reduce pain levels, promote SIJ arthrodesis, and prevent further SIJ-related issues without significant complications over 3 years post-operation. The aim of this systematic review was to identify prospectively measured ankle sprain risk factors in field-based team contact sports. Eight databases including SPORTDiscus, CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE (EBSCO), Education Source, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, and Pubmed were searched using specific Boolean terms. A modified-CASP diagnostic test assessed the quality of the included studies. Extensive data extraction included but was not limited to injury definition, protocols for injury diagnosis and recording, and outcomes associated with ankle sprain. 4012 records were returned from the online search and 17 studies met the inclusion criteria for this review. Twelve different risk factors including anatomic alignment of the foot and ankle, joint laxity, height, mass, BMI (body mass index), age, ankle strength, hip strength, single leg landing performance (ground reaction force, pelvic internal rotation, and knee varus), and single leg reach were all found to be associated with ankle sprain incidence. Injury definitions and methods of diagnosis and recording varied across the 17 studies. This review updates the literature on prospective risk factors for ankle sprain in a specific population rather than heterogeneous cohorts previously studied. From more than 20 categories of risk factors investigated for ankle sprain association across 17 studies in field-based team contact sports, 12 variables were found to be associated with increased incidence of ankle sprain. In order to reduce the risk of ankle sprain, BMI, ankle plantar and dorsiflexion strength, hip strength, and single leg landing performance should be factored in to athlete assessment and subsequent program design. More studies utilizing standardized definitions and methods of recording and reporting are needed. Future prospective etiological studies will allow strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, and physicians to apply specific training principles to reduce the risk and occurrence of ankle sprain injuries. Generalised Joint Hypermobility (GJH) is a heritable disorder of the connective tissue that manifests as extreme range of motion in the joints; it is considered both an asset and health risk to the dancer. Recently, links between GJH, anxiety, emotional and mental wellbeing have been established. The experiences of GJH in professional dance artists (five male, four female; mean age = 32.3 yrs; range = 25–40 yrs) and Ballet masters (3 female & 1 male, mean experience 30.8 yrs.) were exploredthrough semi-structured interviews (45-60 min). A biopsychosocial filter and qualitative reflective thematic approach were appliedto the analysis. Emerging themes include; hypermobile aesthetic, professional values and preconceptions, choreographic trends, company strategies, intellectual curiosity, pedagogy and leadership. Participants agreed dancers with GJH characteristics met the direction and desired aesthetic for today's dance companies and choreographers. They showed a good understanding of the strengths and challenges of GJH but did not directly associate any psychosocial traits. The findings demonstrate that whilst commonly exploited for choreographic gains, the health risks and experience of GJH are not understood in the professional dance environment. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of dextrose prolotherapy in conjunction with arthrocentesis and dextrose prolotherapy alone in the management of symptomatic TMJ hypermobility. Twenty-four patients suffering from TMJ symptomatic hypermobility received 10% dextrose injections for three sessions at four-week intervals. Twelve patients (P group) received prolotherapy alone; the other 12 (PA group) also underwent a single arthrocentesis session. Patients were evaluated for maximal incisal opening, maximal incisal opening without pain, pain at rest, pain during chewing function, TMJ sound, and locking episode frequency. Pain scores were significantly reduced in both groups, and the locking episode frequency was decreased to a greater extent in the PA than the P group, at both the short and long terms. Prolotherapy is effective in the management of TMJ hypermobility. However, prolotherapy with arthrocentesis may be superior to prolotherapy alone in the management of TMJ hypermobility. Verheij syndrome (VRJS) is a rare microdeletion syndrome of chromosome 8q24.3 that is characterized by severe growth retardation, microcephaly, vertebral anomalies, joint laxity/dislocation, psychomotor retardation, cardiac and renal defects, and dysmorphic facial features. Pathogenic variants of PUF60 (Poly-U Binding Splicing Factor 60 kDa) have been found to cause VRJS. Here we present a Turkish patient with Verheij syndrome who has typical facial dysmorphic features and renal and cardiac abnormalities, scoliosis, tethered cord, and mild intellectual disability. This is a case report of a 11-year-old female child who presented with Verheij syndrome. Blood samples were collected from the patient and the family. We performed whole exome sequencing was used to identify potential genetic mutations. We also used 3-dimensional protein structure analysis to identify the effect of the mutation. A de-novo in-frame variant (c.449_457delCAAAGGGGG; p.Ala150_Phe152del) of the PUF60 gene was identified by whole exome sequencing. According to ACMG guidelines in 2015, the mutation is classified as pathogenic and it has been reported in the clinvar database. Results of in-silico prediction software tools predicted the mutation was pathogenic. Protein structure analysis showed that the three residues affected by the in-frame deletion form could lead to impaired stability and function of the PUF60 protein. To date, 25 patients have been reported with PUF60 mutations in the medical literature. In this article, we report a patient with VRJS who had the unusual findings of tethered cord syndrome and renal abnormalities. The researchers' aim is to examine the postural stability and flexibility responses of yoga training in women. The authors conducted the yoga training program 2 days a week and they assessed flexibility using the sit and reach test, trunk hyperextension test and trunk lateral flexion test. The researchers measured static and dynamic balance employing the device and database system. Then, the authors repeated all assesments were at the end of the first, the fifth and the tenth sessions. As a result of this study, the researchers revealed that the male participants had significantly poorer results in a single parameter (longitudinal sway) when compared with the female group, but the groups were statistically equivalent in this parameter after the first yoga training session. The authors also revealed that yoga was effective in improving flexibility among healthy young adults of both sexes, although the males showed greater improvement than females in the flexibility results. Musculoskeletal pain has a considerable frequency in pediatric outpatients. Benign joint hypermobility (BJHS) and juvenile fibromyalgia syndrome (JFMS) are non-inflammatory causes of musculoskeletal pain. In these syndromes, pain is often accompanied by various symptoms such as fatigue, sleep difficulties, mood disorders, cognitive dysfunction, dizziness, headaches, abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and restless legs syndrome. Functional dyspepsia, functional vomiting, functional abdominal pain, functional constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome all together are termed functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. We aimed to evaluate the functional gastrointestinal disorders association of BJHS and JFMS. Patients aged 10–18 years who were diagnosed with functional GI disorder in the pediatric gastroenterology department were included in the study. The findings of BJHS and JFMS were evaluated by the pediatric rheumatology department. Scales for anxiety, somatization, and depression were administered by a child psychiatrist. COMPASS 31 scoring was used in autonomic dysfunction. The prevalence of JFMS and BJHS was 64% and 32%, respectively in children with a functional GI disorder. Retrosternal chest pain, dysphagia, early satiation, nausea, vomiting, and regurgitation were common in JFMS (p = 0.007; p = 0.005; p = 0.018; p = 0.002, p = 0.013; p = 0.014, respectively). Gastrointestinal symptoms did not differ with BJHS. One hundred six (88.3%) and 99 (82.5%) had orthostatic intolerance and reflex syncope, respectively. One hundred three (85.6%) had anxiety symptoms, 101 (84.2%) had somatization symptoms, and 102 (85%) had depression symptoms. Functional GI disorders, JFMS, and BJHS are complex intertwined disorders influenced by emotional distress. This study aimed to demonstrate the reproducibility of the Rocabado pain map (RPM) through its application by different evaluators. Forty participants (18–45 years old) were evaluated. The examiners applied RPM by searching for painful areas, and their intensities were measured through the visual analog scale (VAS). In addition, presence and degree of joint laxity were estimated. Reproducibility values for antero-inferior synovial (zone 1), lateral ligament (zone 3), temporomandibular ligament (zone 4), posterior-inferior synovial (zone 5), and posterior ligament (zone 7) showed high intraclass correlation (ICC) values (above 0.7). Anterior-superior synovial (zone 2) and posterior-superior synovial (zone 6) showed ICC values above 0.4. RPM is reproducible. A "fair" concordance according to Fleiss's criteria in zone 2 (ICC 0.42) and zone 6 (ICC 0.64) might be explained by the difficulties involved in moving the condyle from the upper synovial (zones 1,5) to the lower synovial (zones 2,6). This study aims to determine from questionnaires, submitted to patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome hypermobile type (hEDS), what symptoms they perceive as having the most impact on their well-being and, according to them, what symptoms should be assessed. Three rounds of online questionnaires were conducted following the Delphi method. The first round allowed us to obtain the most important symptoms to assess according to the patients. The second and third round aimed at ranking the categories according to their order of importance. Establishment of a consensus was evaluated using Kendall's coefficient of concordance. A total of 118 responses were analyzed for the first round and 87 for the second and the third round. Ten categories were extracted from the first round. Ranking of the 10 categories in the second round did not reach consensus (W = 0.33, p < 0.001) nor did the four most important categories in the third round (W = 0.43, p < 0.001). However, three categories stand out from ranking: "pain", "fatigue and sleep disorders", and "musculoskeletal disorders". These categories seem to be the most important to assess in patients with hEDS, despite the lack of consensus on this ranking. Pain, fatigue and sleep disorders, and musculoskeletal disorders should be given high consideration in the assessment of patients with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is a common cause of shoulder pain. The effects of physiotherapy modalities including low-level laser (LLL) and high power laser (HPL) on the SAIS have mostly been evaluated by the subjective outcome variables accompanied with the controversial findings and none of them has compared a combination of these two modalities, yet. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of low-level laser (LLL) and high power laser (HPL) combined with kinesiology taping (KT), on the pain, function, and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) parameters in the SAIS. Thirty patients with SAIS were randomly divided into the LLL-KT, HPL-KT, and sham-KT groups, respectively. Patients received seven treatment sessions. Visual analogue scale (VAS), shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI), MSKUS parameters were measured before and 48 hours after the treatment cessation. Pain intensity significantly reduced in the LLL-KT (−2.43 (0.97)), HPL-KT (−3.43 (1.99)), and sham-KT (−2.43 (1.62)) (P <.01). All the SPADI subscales are significantly reduced in all the groups (P <.05), except for the pain in the sham-KT (P =.06). Significant improvements were only observed in the diameters of biceps (P <.05), supraspinatus tendon thickness in short and long axes (P <.05), occupation ratio (P =.004), and echogenicity (P =.03) in the HPL-KT. Although the acromiohumoral distance (AHD) significantly increased in all the groups including the sham-KT (P <.01), supraspinatus tendon thickness significantly decreased (P <.05), and echogenicity increased (P =.003) just in the HPL-KT. Kinesiology taping method alone is an effective intervention. Nevertheless, adding the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of both LLL and HPL to KT seems to result in better improvement of the pain, function, and MSKUS parameters in the SAIS. To investigate the effects of a systematic tuning protocol for ankle foot orthosis footwear combinations (AFO-FC) using incrementing heel height on gait in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Eighteen children with CP (10.8 ± 3 years, Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) I–II) underwent 3D gait analysis on a treadmill, while the AFO heel surface was systematically incremented with wedges. Children were subdivided based on their gait pattern, i.e., knee hyperextension (EXT) and excessive knee flexion (FLEX). Outcome measures included sagittal hip and knee angles and moments, shank to vertical angle (SVA), foot to horizontal angle, and gait profile score (GPS). For both groups, incrementing heel height resulted in increased knee flexion, more inclined SVA, and increased knee extension moments. This resulted in gait improvements for some children of the EXT-group, but not in FLEX. High variation was found between individuals and within-subject effects were not always consistent for kinematic and kinetics. A systematic AFO-FC tuning protocol using incremented heel height can be effective to improve gait in children with CP walking with EXT. The current results emphasise the importance of including kinematics as well as kinetics of multiple instances throughout the gait cycle for reliable interpretation of the effect of AFO tuning on gait. A systematic ankle foot orthosis footwear combinations (AFO-FC) tuning protocol using incremented heel height can improve gait in children walking with knee hyperextension. Tuning results in changes throughout the gait cycle. Little evidence is found for an optimal SVA of 10–12° at midstance. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is often seen in clients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), primarily hypermobile EDS. Research has shown clients with EDS and POTS may experience limitations affecting not only their physical function, but also their social, emotional, and mental well-being. Using a client-centered approach, occupational therapy practitioners assess health, well-being, symptomatology (fatigue, muscle pain, dizziness, etc.), participation and engagement in occupation, and provide interventions to improve quality of life. This paper will address occupational therapy interventions to treat common symptomatology for clients with EDS in the presence of POTS, including environmental modifications, use of adaptive equipment and orthoses, exercise and fall prevention, energy conservation and pacing, sleep hygiene, and routine and habit development to promote optimal engagement in meaningful occupations. An empirical consensus of differences between chronic ankle instability (CAI) individuals and copers (individuals who sprained ankle once and without recurrent symptoms or injury) has not been reported. This study aimed to review the locomotion biomechanics and dynamic postural control between these two populations. Database of ScienceDirect, PubMed and Web of Science was used to search ('chronic ankle instability' OR 'ankle instability') AND ('ankle sprain' OR 'coper*') until 30 November 2020. Articles that made a comparison about changes in biomechanical parameters between Copers and CAI individuals during locomotor or functional tasks were included in this review. Twenty-three articles met the inclusion criteria. CAI individuals exhibited an increased hip flexion to maintain stability, suggesting the adopted hip strategy compared to copers during landing. Dorsiflexion angle and ankle frontal displacement increased considerably compared to copers, which might increase risks of lateral ankle sprain injury. CAI individuals reduced the ankle displacements in the sagittal plane and indicated worse performance of Star Excursion Balance Test in the posterior-lateral direction compared to copers. Inadequate energy dissipation during landing may increase the risk of ankle sprain. Mechanical demands (landing height) in landing tasks may affect the biomechanical differences between individuals with and without chronic ankle instability (CAI). However, energy dissipation strategies during landing from various heights in individuals with CAI are unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of landing height on lower extremity biomechanics between individuals with and without CAI. Eleven participants in each of the CAI and Control group performed a single-leg landing from three heights (30, 40, and 50 cm). We calculated the contribution of each joint to total energy dissipation at 50-ms intervals during 0–200 ms post-initial contact (IC). Peak joint angles and moments and joint stiffnesses were calculated during 0–200 ms post-IC. Two-way mixed analysis of variance revealed significant group-by-height interactions for hip energy dissipation at 101–150 ms post-IC and peak ankle plantarflexion and hip extension moment. These significant interactions suggested that the effects of landing height on the ankle and hip joints differ between individuals with and without CAI. Limited evidence exists comparing running biomechanics between individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) and those who fully recover (copers). The purpose of this study was to simultaneously analyse running gait kinematics, kinetics, and surface electromyography (sEMG) between ankle sprain copers and individuals with CAI. Twenty-six (13 CAI, 13 Coper) recreationally active females participated and ran shod on an instrumented treadmill at 2.68 m/s. We assessed lower extremity kinematics and kinetics and sEMG amplitude for the fibularis longus, tibialis anterior, medial gastrocnemius, and gluteus medius muscles. Ten consecutive strides from the beginning of the trial were analysed using statistical parametric mapping (SPM) independent t-test. The CAI group had significantly more ankle inversion during 0–6%, 42–53%, and 96–100% of the running stride cycle compared to the coper group. At initial contact (0%), the CAI group was in an inverted ankle position (5.9°±6.8°) and the coper group was in an everted ankle position (−3.2°±5.5°; p = 0.01, d = 1.5). There were no significant differences identified for any other outcome measures. Increased ankle inversion during the swing phase leading into the loading phase is concerning because the ankle is in an open packed position and inversion is a primary mechanism of injury for sustaining a lateral ankle sprain. We describe feedforward neuromuscular control during a maximal jump landing/cutting task among groups of chronic ankle instability (CAI), coper, and uninjured control subjects. Sixty-six volunteers participated (22 CAI, 22 copers, and 22 uninjured controls). The subjects completed five trials of a maximal jump landing/cutting manoeuvre. Three-dimensional ground reaction force, lower-extremity joint angles, and activation of eight muscles were collected from 150 ms prelanding to initial contact. Functional analyses of variance (FANOVA) were used to evaluate between-group differences for these outcome variables. Compared to uninjured controls, both CAI patients and copers demonstrated altered sagittal lower-extremity movements. However, only copers exhibited unique kinematic alterations in frontal lower-extremity kinematics in the ankle and hip joints. While CAI patients demonstrated decreased most of lower-extremity EMG activation, copers displayed increased EMG activation during prelanding. Current data suggest that both CAI patients and copers demonstrated alterations in feedforward neuromuscular control prior to initial contact during a demanding jump landing/cutting task. Altered movement strategies during prelanding were observed in both proximal (e.g., knee and hip) and distal (e.g., ankle) joints in CAI patients and copers, while copers presumably had more protective jump landing/cutting movement strategies than CAI patients. The role of mechanical laxity and viscoelastic tissue properties in chronic ankle instability (CAI) is unclear, but may influence repeated injury. The purpose was to determine if lateral ankle complex stiffness and hysteresis was altered in CAI individuals with and without mechanical laxity, compared to copers and uninjured controls. Thirty-five recreational athletes (19 females, 22.1 ± 2.7 years, 69.7 ± 15.7 kg, 168.4 ± 10.7 cm) were assessed for ankle injury history and self-reported instability. An instrumented arthrometer was applied and laxity, stiffness and hysteresis values were captured. Results from ANOVA tests indicated the CAI with laxity group had lower beginning- (3.2 ± 0.6 N/mm) and end-range stiffness (4.5 ± 0.4 N/mm) than the CAI without laxity group (4.7 ± 0.6; 6.0 ± 0.6 N/mm) and uninjured controls (4.6 ± 1.1; 5.8 ± 0.8 N/mm, p < 0.003). Hysteresis was greater in the CAI with laxity group than without laxity (91.0 ± 17.3 vs 62.8 ± 12.0 dN•mm; p = 0.03). Altered tissue properties in a CAI with laxity group likely indicate diminished ability of the lateral ankle complex to respond to loading. The anterior drawer test (ADT) is the gold standard examination for the diagnosis of anterior talofibular ligamentinsufficiency,although there is noquantitative evaluation of ADT that is generally usable and reliable.An electromagnetic sensor (EMS)has been used to quantitatively evaluate joint kinematics, and has a high potential to be applied to the ankle joint. The aim of this study was to validatethe EMS measurement of the ADTin comparison to the fluoroscopic evaluationand to evaluate the reproducibility of the EMS measurement.Six feet were included,and an examinerperformed the ADT5 times for each foot while the anterior translation of the ankle jointwas quantitative evaluatedusing EMS and fluoroscope simultaneously. The anterior translation of the ankle joint during the ADT in EMS and in fluoroscope was 8.1 ± 5.7 mm and 3.6 ± 2.4 mm.Astrong correlation was observed between the measurements using EMS and fluoroscope (p < 0.01, the correlation coefficient = 0.91). Another 20 feet were included, and three examiners performed the ADT five times for each foot with the EMS measurement. Lower-leg strength training has been a cornerstone of ankle sprain and chronic ankle instability (CAI) rehabilitation and an important consideration for return-to-play in athletes with ankle injuries. The purpose of this literature review is to offer a contemporary, evidence-based overview of the role of ankle strength measurements as they relate to acute ankle sprain rehabilitation and those who have developed CAI. A comprehensive 20-year scan of the relevant research was conducted to assist us in providing this important update for clinicians and biomechanists working with patients and subjects with acute and chronic ankle sprains. While variability exists with measurement devices and methodology, strength assessment remains a critical component of ankle sprain and CAI treatment schemes. This study examined lower extremity joint kinematics in individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) and controls during unanticipated and anticipated single-leg drop landings onto a laterally inclined platform. Physically active adults with CAI 15 (n = 15) and controls (n = 15) performed an unanticipated and anticipated 30 cm single-leg drop landing onto a 20° laterally inclined platform. Three-dimensional ankle, knee and hip-joint kinematics were recorded 200 ms pre- to 200 post-landing and analysed with a 2 (group) × 2 (landing condition) SPM ANOVA (p < 0.05). Results revealed individuals with CAI displayed significantly greater ankle internal rotation post-landing across both landing conditions. Anticipated landings elicited significantly greater pre-landing ankle inversion and external rotation, knee abduction and hip adduction. Additionally, significantly less ankle inversion, knee and hip flexion, and knee adduction and hip abduction were present during post-landing of the anticipated landing. Greater ankle internal rotation during landing may contribute to the ankle 'giving way' in individuals with CAI. However, preparatory and reactive proximal-joint kinematics were similar in both groups during landing. Patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI) walk with increased lateral plantar pressure, precipitating future injuries. Gait retraining to medially shift plantar pressure may prevent recurrent injury. We assessed if a multi-axis destabilisation device changed plantar pressure and muscle activity in patients with CAI during walking. Twelve adults with CAI (age: 23.6 ± 5.0 years; body mass index: 26.7 ± 4.5 kg/m2) participated. Insole plantar pressure and electro-myography were collected synchronously during treadmill walking. The destabilisation device had a half-sphere under both the rearfoot and forefoot. Two 30s walking trials were recorded at baseline, first without and second with the destabilisation device. After 20 min of walking with the destabilisation device, two 30s post-walking trials were collected, first with and second without the destabilisation device. The middle 10 steps of each trial were extracted, plantar pressure quantified, and data averaged across steps for repeated measures ANOVA analysis. Electromyographic data wereextracted from 50 ms pre- through 200 ms post-initial contact. The centre of pressure shifted medially during destabilisation device use (P < 0.002) versus baseline. Chronic ankle instability (CAI) patients often present with centrally-mediated neuromuscular adaptations. Gluteal thickness measures derived from ultrasound imaging (USI) have been correlated to hip biomechanical measures during walking among healthy individuals, however these relationships remain unexplored among CAI patients. The purpose of this study was to compare USI-derived gluteus maximus and medius thickness measures to tri-planar hip kinematics, kinetics, and gluteus medius surface electromyography (sEMG) amplitude during walking among CAI patients. Fifteen females with CAI walked on a treadmill while USI, hip tri-planar kinematics, kinetics, and sEMG were synchronously recorded. Cross-correlation analyses were conducted at 1% intervals (11-ms) from −20% to 20% in the gait cycle. Gluteus medius thickness measures were associated with frontal plane kinematics at a 99-ms lag (cross-correlation coefficient [CCF]: −0.61), transverse plane kinematics at a 66-ms lag (CCF: −0.69), and with hip kinetics at 110-ms lags (CCF: 0.51–0.55). Gluteus medius thickness measures followed sEMG amplitudes by 143-ms (CCF: 0.22). Gluteus maximus thickness was associated with sagittal kinematics at a 220-ms lag (CCF: −0.70), and thickness changes preceded sagittal kinetics at 200-ms (0.87). Compared to reference healthy data, the CAI group presented with differing lag times between USI-derived measures and hip biomechanics, suggesting neuromechanical alterations during walking. This essay theorizes three types of mobile subjects: the hyper mobile (those who are allowed, and encouraged to, travel for work or leisure), the compelled mobile (those compelled, by design of the global economy, to move for work) and the forced mobile (those who move for survival but often end up contained, incarcerated or detained). I explore how these travelling subjects are simultaneously intimate, enmeshed, and disconnected. Theorizing the relationships between mobile subjects, which I term the nexus of (im)mobility, illuminates how settler colonial logics, racial hierarchies and capitalist accumulation produce mobility today. Bringing Black and Indigenous theories together with mobilities studies, I present case studies to investigate the ways that structures of private property, nation-states and their borders, tourism, and concepts of whiteness/Westernity as superior work together to normalize categories of (im)mobility. This study examined the effects of shoe collar height and foot orthosis on ground reaction force (GRF), ankle and knee mechanics during landing. Sixteen male university basketball players performed drop landing when wearing different shoes with collar height (high vs. low) and foot orthoses (arch-support vs. flat). Biomechanical variables included vertical peak GRF and joint angles and moments in sagittal and coronal planes were analysed with two-way ANOVA with repeated measures (α = 0.05). Results indicated that high-collar shoes had significantly smaller peak ankle dorsiflexion (P < 0.001), smaller ankle sagittal total RoM (P < 0.001), higher forefoot peak GRF (P = 0.009) and peak knee valgus moment (P < 0.001) compared with low-collar shoes. Wearing arch-support orthoses induced higher forefoot peak GRF (P < 0.001) but smaller ankle inversion moment (P = 0.001) compared to flat-orthoses. Furthermore, significant interactions between collar-height and orthosis were found only for initial ankle plantarflexion (P = 0.023) and knee flexion (P = 0.035), but not in any kinetics variables. The findings suggest increased collar height and arch-support orthoses appear to reduce the risks of ankle sprains during landing, but might increase loading at adjacent joints. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in profound changes in mobility patterns and altered travel behaviors locally and globally. As a result, movement metrics have widely been used by researchers and policy makers as indicators to study, model, and mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the veracity and variability of these mobility metrics have not been studied. This paper provides a systematic review of mobility and social distancing metrics available to researchers during the pandemic in 2020 in the United States. Twenty-six indices across nine different sources are analyzed and assessed with respect to their spatial and temporal coverage as well as sample representativeness at the county-level. Finally global and local indicators of spatial association are computed to explore spatial and temporal heterogeneity in mobility patterns. The structure of underlying changes in mobility and social distancing is examined in different US counties and across different data sets. To cross-cultural translate the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) to Taiwan-Chinese version (CAIT-TW), and to evaluate the validity, reliability and cutoff score of CAIT-TW for Taiwan-Chinese athletic population. The English version of CAIT was translated to CAIT-TW based on a guideline of cross-cultural adaptation. 77 and 58 Taiwanese collegial athletes with and without chronic ankle instability filled out CAIT-TW, Taiwan-Chinese version of Lower Extremity Functional Score (LEFS-TW) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The construct validity, test-retest reliability, internal consistency and cutoff score of CAIT-TW were evaluated. In construct validity, the Spearman's correlation coefficients were moderate (CAIT-TW vs LEFS-TW: Rho = 0.39, p < 0.001) and strong (CAIT-TW vs NRS: Rho= 0.76, p < 0.001). The test retest reliability was excellent (ICC2.1 = 0.91, 95% confidential interval = 0.87–0.94, p < 0.001) with a good internal consistency (Cronbach's α: 0.87). Receiver operating characteristic curve showed a cutoff score of 21.5 (Youden index: 0.73, sensitivity: 0.87, specificity 0.85). The CAIT-TW is a valid and reliable tool to differentiate between stable and instable ankles in athletes and may further apply for research or daily practice in Taiwan. For athletes, chronic ankle instability is prevalent and causes negative sequela, such as lowered quality of daily life, affected functional performance, and may cause post traumatic osteoarthritis. The psychometric properties of the Taiwan-Chinese version of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool showed moderate to strong construct validity, excellent test retest reliability, a good internal consistency and a cutoff score of 21.5. The validity and reliability of the Taiwan-Chinese version of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool are to enable clinicians to evaluate and manage ankle instability in Taiwanese who speaks Mandarin Chinese. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is a common musculoskeletal injury, most frequently affecting young and physically active patients. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been widely used in ACL reconstruction to augment the graft healing. However, high-level studies addressing its clinical efficacy could not reach a consensus. In this study, we assess the efficacy of PRP on pain relief, functional improvement along with radiological changes in patients who underwent ACL reconstruction. We performed comprehensive literature search and included 17 RCTs containing 970 participants who underwent ACL reconstruction. The combined data showed significant difference between PRP and control with regard to VAS score (MD: −1.12, 95% CI −1.92, −0.31; P =.007), subjective IKDC score (MD: 6.08, 95% CI 4.39, 7.77; P <.00001) and Lysholm score (MD: 8.49, 95% CI 1.63, 15.36; P =.02) by postoperative 6 months, but only pain reduction was deemed clinically important. At the end of one year's follow-up, no clinically meaningful improvement in VAS (MD: −0.47, P =.04), subjective IKDC score (MD: 3.99, P =.03), Lysholm score (MD: 2.30, P =.32), objective IKDC score (RR: 1.03, P =.09) and knee joint laxity (MD: 0.17, P =.28) was seen. In terms of radiological findings, about one-third of the studies favored PRP to facilitate the graft healing, improve the harvest site morbidity and prevent tunnel widening. Background: Arthrochalasia type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a connective tissue disease characterized by severe generalized joint hypermobility, congenital bilateral hip dislocations, and recurrent joint subluxations and dislocations. Only one study has reported bone fragility resulting in fractures. The genetic abnormality underlying this disorder is a variant in the COL1A1 gene causing entire or partial loss of exon 6, resulting in defective type 1 collagen synthesis. Case Report: We report a female infant born at 35 weeks of gestation presenting with pathologic skull fracture following vaginal delivery. Genetic testing revealed a pathogenic variant in the COL1A1 gene (c.472-1G > C), consistent with arthrochalasia type EDS, reported previously. Conclusion: This report adds pathologic fractures to the phenotypic breadth of this type of EDS and reinforces the importance of including the condition on the differential diagnosis when early onset non-accidental injury or trauma is being considered. Hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are underdiagnosed hereditary connective tissue disorders requiring health care across specialties. Using mixed methods, we explored how parents have experienced children's health care for hEDS/HSD. Surveyed parents (N = 297) reported varying experiences, though professional understanding was negatively appraised by most parents. Themes identified from interviews (n = 13) were: (1) awareness and understanding are fundamental, (2) the importance of the therapeutic relationship, (3) limitations of healthcare systems, and (4) diagnostic labels are meaningful. To explore the effect of joint hypermobility on acuity, and precision, of hand proprioception. We compared proprioceptive acuity, and precision, between EDS patients and controls. We then measured any changes in their estimates of hand position after participants adapted their reaches in response to altered visual feedback of their hand. The Beighton Scale was used to quantify the magnitude of joint hypermobility. There were no differences between the groups in the accuracy of estimates of hand location, nor in the visually induced changes in hand location. However, EDS patients' estimates were less precise when based purely on proprioception and could be partially predicted by Beighton score. EDS patients are less precise at estimating their hand's location when only afferent information is available, but the presence of efferent signalling may reduce this imprecision. Objective: The first aim of this study was to determine whether adolescents with asymptomatic Generalized Joint Hypermobility (GJH) have a lower level of physical functioning (physical activity level, muscle strength and performance) compared to non-hypermobile controls. Secondly, to evaluate whether the negative impact of perceived harmfulness on physical functioning was more pronounced in adolescents with asymptomatic GJH. Methods: Cross-sectional study. Sixty-two healthy adolescents (mean age 16.8, range 12–21) participated. Hypermobility (Beighton score), perceived harmfulness (PHODA-youth) and muscle strength (dynamometry), motor performance (Single-Leg-Hop-for-Distance) and physical activity level (PAL) (accelerometry) were measured. Hierarchical regression analyses were used to study differences in physical functioning and perceived harmfulness between asymptomatic GJH and non-hypermobile controls. Results: Asymptomatic GJH was associated with increased knee extensor muscle strength (peak torque/body weight; PT/BW), controlled for age and gender (dominant leg; ß = 0.29; p =.02). No other associations between asymptomatic GJH and muscle strength, motor performance and PAL were found. Perceived harmfulness was not more pronounced in adolescents with asymptomatic GJH. Conclusions: Adolescents with asymptomatic GJH had increased knee extensor muscle strength compared to non-hypermobile controls. No other differences in the level of physical functioning was found and the negative impact of perceived harmfulness was not more pronounced in adolescents with asymptomatic GJH. Introduction: Ankle sprain is one of the most common injuries in collegiate athletes, including runners. The purpose of the study was to examine whether runners exhibited compromised ankle stability, ankle position sense, and single-leg balance. Methods: Thirty-seven individuals (21 non-runners and 16 runners) participated in the study. To be included in the runner group, subjects were required to run greater than 150 minutes per week for the past three months. We used the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) to categorize ankle stability, and we used a dual-axis electronic goniometer to examine active ankle position sense. We examined single-leg balance with the Athletic Single Leg Stability Test of the Biodex Balance System using three different protocols: 1) default setting, 2) no extrinsic visual feedback, and 3) no extrinsic feedback with a cognitive demand. Results: Runners and non-runners had similar ankle stability (CAIT = 26.88 and 26.45 respectively; p =.666). Although runners had significantly larger ankle position errors than non-runners overall (2.56° vs. 1.68°; p =.004), they had better single-leg balance than non-runners without extrinsic visual feedback (Stability Index 1.67 vs. 4.39; p <.001), even with an added cognitive loading (Stability Index 2.18 vs. 4.32; p <.001). Conclusions: For runners, having worse ankle position sense did not compromise ankle stability, nor contribute to single-leg balance deficits. The Landing Error Scoring System (LESS) identifies movement patterns associated with Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Hypermobility and knee hyperextension may alter these patterns given that hypermobile individuals present higher injury rates. Eighty-five individuals were tested using the LESS and Beighton hypermobility score. Spearman rank correlation coefficients were calculated to investigate relationships between LESS and Beighton scores. T-tests and two-proportion z-tests were performed to explore differences in LESS scores and proportion of participants at risk of injury between non-hypermobile and asymptomatic hypermobile individuals, and individuals with non-hyperextended and hyperextended knees. The mean LESS score was 5.4 ± 1.4 errors and the median (interquartile range) Beighton score was 2 (4) points. No significant relationship was found between LESS and Beighton scores (ρ = −0.08, p = 0.490). LESS scores and proportions of participants at risk between non-hypermobile (5.3 ± 1.5 errors, 67.8%) and asymptomatic hypermobile (5.4 ± 1.3 errors, 76.9%) individuals, and between individuals with non-hyperextended (5.6 ± 1.5 errors, 68.3%) and hyperextended (5.3 ± 1.4 errors, 77.3%) knees were comparable (p > 0.05). This study aimed to examine lower limb kinematics during a side-cutting task in male collegiate soccer athletes with severe ankle laxity. Forty-seven participants with a history of ankle sprains and perceived ankle instability were categorized into non-laxity (n = 17), laxity (n = 19), and severe laxity (n = 11) groups using stress radiography tests. Three-dimensional kinematic data during the stance phase of a 45° side-cutting task were analysed. The frontal plane kinematics of the knee significantly differed between the three groups (p < 0.05). The severe laxity group exhibited a greater abduction angle than the non-laxity group (p < 0.05). The horizontal and sagittal plane kinematics of the rearfoot differed between the three groups during the end of the stance phase (p < 0.05). Our data suggest that collegiate soccer athletes with both perceived ankle instability and severe ankle laxity exhibit greater knee abduction movement during a 45° side-cutting task compared to those with only perceived ankle instability. Objectives: This study's objective was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) into the Greek language and to evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods: CAIT was translated and adapted into Greek according to official cross-cultural adaptation guidelines of self-reported measures. The Greek version of the CAIT (CAIT-GR) was tested for reliability (internal consistency, test-retest reliability), validity (discriminative and convergent validity) and floor-ceiling effects. Additionally, a cut-off value discriminating between stable and unstable ankles across healthy participants and participants with ankle complaints was calculated. A convenience sample of 123 Greek individuals was recruited, 43 of which had a history of at least one ankle sprain. All participants completed the final version of the CAIT-GR twice within 7–10 days. Participants with a history of ankle sprain also completed the Greek version of the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results: CAIT–GR mean scores were 26.9 ± 3.16 for participants without a history of ankle sprain and 20.6 ± 4.62 for the instability group. The cut-off value was at 24.5 points of the total CAIT score (range 0–30). CAIT-GR had a moderate correlation with VAS (0.54) and a high correlation with LEFS (0.735). Results indicated good discriminative validity, high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.97) and excellent test–retest reliability (ICC2,1 = 0.97, 95%CI = 0.97–0.98). Neither a floor nor a ceiling effect was observed. Conclusions: The CAIT-GR questionnaire was found to be a reliable and valid measure for chronic ankle instability. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate whether women giving preterm birth have joint hypermobility.Methods: The study included 44 women giving preterm birth (study group) and 48 women with the history of term birth (control group). After demographic data were recorded, the presence of joint hypermobility based on the Beighton diagnostic criteria and subgroup scores were noted down. Total Beighton scores were compared between the study and control groups.Results: The total Beighton scores were significantly higher in the study group (p < .001). The study group had the highest hypermobility score for elbow hyperextension and the lowest hypermobility score for thumb hyperextension.Conclusions: It should be kept in mind that joint hypermobility detected during follow-up of pregnancy can be related to the risk of preterm birth. Desbuquois dysplasia is a very severe and sometimes lethal form of osteochondrodysplasia characterized by prenatal onset of severe micromelic short stature, joint laxity with multiple joint dislocations, specific radiographic features, and facial dysmorphism. Purpose: A 2014 study found that the Lumbar Spine Instability questionnaire predicts response to two different types of exercise therapy. This is the first decision tool that has predicted response to exercise for chronic low back pain. The objective of this study was to evaluate the Lumbar Spine Instability questionnaire using Rasch analysis. Methods: Baseline data from patients included in a randomized controlled trial with chronic non-specific low back pain were included. Rasch Measurement Theory was used to assess the ordering of items along a common scale, data-to-model fit, Person Separation Index, unidimensionality and Differential Item Functioning. Results: Responses from 172 patients (102 females) underwent Rasch analysis. All Lumbar Spine Instability questionnaire items had fit residuals between ± 2.5 and Chi-Square values were non-significant with Bonferroni corrections. The Lumbar Spine Instability questionnaire demonstrated a Person Separation Index of 0.64, which is below the recommended cut-off of 0.7. Differential Item Functioning by different pain levels was identified for one item. Conclusion: The Lumbar Spine Instability questionnaire was found to be unidimensional, suggesting that the use of a summary score is appropriate. However, the low Person Separation Index value suggests that more items may be needed to increase the questionnaire's ability to discriminate among individuals with high and low clinical instability.
