This study explored age and gender as moderators of the effects of a school-based mindfulness program on Filipino youth's depressive and anxiety symptoms, and emotion regulation capacities. Using a randomized controlled trial design, 186 public school children in the Philippines aged 9–16 were randomly assigned to either 8 weekly sessions of a mindfulness program or 8 weekly sessions of a handicrafts program as an active control condition. Simple moderation analyses using PROCESS macro indicated that age and gender were significant moderators. Specifically, the mindfulness intervention was more effective for older children than younger children in alleviating difficulties in impulse control, emotional acceptance, and use of emotion regulation strategies. In addition, the mindfulness intervention was more effective for girls than boys in improving anxiety symptoms and emotional acceptance. These findings highlighted the need to consider participant characteristics such as age and gender in designing and implementing mindfulness-based intervention programs in the school context. Purpose: The Falls Efficacy Scale – International is universally used in assessing the level of concern about falling in older adults. The objectives of this study were to conduct a cross-cultural adaptation and to establish psychometric properties of Falls Efficacy Scale – International in Filipino (FES-I F). Methods: The standardized 10-step translation protocol of the Prevention of Falls Network Europe was followed. Community-dwelling older adults aged 60 or above (N = 211) from Manila, Philippines were recruited. The internal consistency and test–retest reliability of the translated tool was assessed. Convergent validity was compared with fall-related factors. The receiver operating characteristics were used to determine the cutoff score. Results: The FES-I F has high internal consistency (α = 0.91) and good test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.86). Overall scores were significantly higher among those with subjective report of fear of falling (p < 0.001), lower timed up and go test scores (p = 0.014), slower gait speed (p = 0.003), and lower perceived well-being scores (p = 0.003) indicating acceptable convergent validity. The cutoff score of FES-I F was 22 points. Conclusions: The FES-I F has high internal reliability and acceptable validity, and can be a practical tool to measure the concern about falling in Filipino older adults. Future research is necessary to establish its utilization as an outcome measure in intervention studies. The psychometric properties of the Filipino version of the Falls Efficacy Scale – International were good when assessed in older adults living in the community. The cutoff score to demarcate those with fear of falling from those without is 22 points. The application of theories to understand concepts and issues in sport and physical education is viewed as a useful research strategy. Two theories addressing subjective phenomena relevant to sport experiences are presented. Concepts proposed in Martin Buber's I-Thou philosophy of relationship and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's flow model exploring the psychology of enjoyment are delineated and compared. Sport-related research using these constructs is then presented. It is concluded that careful application of theories is a viable and valuable approach for studying complex, elusive phenomena in sport. Further, knowledge derived from such research facilitates understanding and awareness of subjective meaning in sport, and therefore opens individuals to the potential of relationship and flow. Abstract The role of internship in the field of criminology cannot be overstated, as they provide invaluable practical training that can shape the potential of aspiring criminologists. This study aims to assess the influence of criminology internship in enhancing the knowledge and skills development of interns. Data was collected from all the 60 criminology interns at Davao de Oro State College. The results of the study indicate that criminology internship has a significant influence in improving the knowledge and skills development of criminology interns. These findings highlight the importance of practical training in the development of criminology interns, as they provide an opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. The criminology internship program, in conjunction with self-efficacy and experiential learning, has a significant influence on the knowledge and skills development of criminology interns, as reflected in their personal skills development, theoretical knowledge application, and professional skills development. This article seeks to open up a dialogue among interdisciplinary scholars situated at the crossroads of Asian, Asian and Pacific American, and indigenous studies examining displacement and dispossession, as well as performance. My research aims to interrogate the internment camp narrative naturalising certain representations of Japanese Americans, and in particular the second generation known collectively as ‘nisei’. I undertake this task through the method of life story, which demonstrates how positionality operates among (non-)whites. The striking account of a nisei named Sarah Ogawa, born and raised in Texas, demonstrates her interactions with multiple racialised groups. On the other hand, the formerly-interned nisei, her friends whom I also interviewed, perceived my project to be an oral history interview and therefore focused on discussing the internment camps. By expanding beyond the boundaries of the non-white/white binary, Sarah's performance narrative illustrates the power dynamics in the Asian diaspora implicating the Japanese as settlers, who are also subjected to the West's tourist gaze. That is to say, Sarah created several diasporic subjectivities based on her friendships with the nisei, as well as with EuroAmericans and the indigenous located at three sites affiliated with ‘home’ in California, Texas, and the Tewa pueblos of the American southwest, respectively.
