The article discusses the age and correlation of Neoproterozoic glacial deposits in the Scandinavian Caledonides. Previously, only the glaciogenic Smalfjord Formation in East Finnmark was considered to have evidence for multiple late Precambrian glacial horizons. However, recent research using U-Pb data from the Ottfjället Dyke Swarm suggests that all glacial deposits in the Scandinavian Caledonides, including the Mortensnes Formation in East Finnmark, are of pre-596 Ma age. The author argues that this correlation is consistent with worldwide data from the Cryogenian and Ediacaran Periods and provides evidence to support this claim.
