This study aims to investigate the combined influence of varying concentration of waste steel fibre and fly ash on rheological and mechanical performance of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC). Cement was substituted partially by fly ash at concentration of 5%, 10% and 20% by weight basis and waste steel fibre was incorporated as 1.5% and 3% in volume basis of concrete. Rheological tests of concrete, including slump, density, compacting factor, K-slump, and Kelly ball penetration were evaluated for the fresh state. Mechanical performances of concrete, including compressive, splitting tensile and flexural strength were determined at 7 and 28 days. Test results exhibited that fly ash enhanced the workability of all rheological tests; however, waste steel fibre reduced the workability and increased the density of fresh concrete. Substantial enhancement in compressive, splitting tensile and flexural strength was found for fly ash and waste steel FRC mixes than the control one. The optimum results of mechanical performance were achieved for mixture with concentration of 10% fly ash and 3% waste steel fibre among all mixes. Adding waste steel fibre with fly ash in concrete provided more pronounced mechanical performance at higher fibre concentration along with the minimisation of disposal problems and environmental damages. In this study, palm oil mill effluent (POME) was used as an alternative medium for algal biomass and lipid production. The influence of different concentrations of filtered and centrifuged POME in sea water (1, 5, 10 and 15%) on microalgal cell growth and lipid yield were investigated. BothNannochloropsis oculataandTetraselmis suecicahad enhanced cell growth and lipid accumulation at 10% POME with maximum specific growth rate (0.21 d–1and 0.20 d–1) and lipid content (39.1 ± 0.73% and 27.0 ± 0.61%), respectively, after 16 days of flask cultivation. The total Saturated Fatty Acid (SFA) (59.24%, 68.74%); Monounsaturated Fatty Acid (MUFA) (15.14%, 12.26%); and Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA) (9.07%, 8.88%) were obtained forN. oculataandT. suecica, respectively, at 10% POME. Algal cultivation with POME media also enhanced the removal of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) (93.6–95%), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) (96–97%), Total Organic Compound (TOC) (71–75%), Total Nitrogen (TN) (78.8–90.8%) and oil and grease (92–94.9%) from POME. The crude methanolic extract and chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions of Teucrium royleanum were examined as inhibitors of actylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, lipoxygenase and urease. A significant enzyme inhibition activity (52-83%) was shown by the crude methanolic extract and its fractions against acetylcholinesterase, while low to outstanding enzyme inhibitory activity was shown (19-93%) against butyrylcholinesterase. The crude methanolic extract and subsequent fractions of Teucrium royleanum (Labiatea) were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. Against tested pathogens, crude extract and subsequent fractions demonstrated moderate to excellent antibacterial activities. Highest antibacterial activity was displayed by the ethyl acetate fraction against S. typhi (100%), against E.coli (76.7%) and against P. aerugenosa (70.8%) followed by the chloroform fraction against S. typhi (85.7%). Similarly, the crude extract and its subsequent fractions showed mild to excellent activities in the antifungal bioassay with maximum antifungal activity against M. canis (87%) by the chloroform fraction followed by the ethyl acetate (71%) and n-butanol (70%) fractions. The crude methanolic extract of Andrachne cordifolia Muell. (Euphorbiaceae) and its various fractions in different solvent systems (chloroform, ethyl acetate and n- butanol) were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. Crude extract and subsequent fractions demonstrated moderate to excellent antibacterial activities against the tested pathogens. Highest antibacterial activity was displayed by both chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions (100%) followed by the crude extract (68%) against Salmonella typhi. Similarly, crude extract and its subsequent fractions showed mild to excellent activities in antifungal bioassay with maximum (76%) antifungal activity against Microsporum canis by the chloroform fraction followed by the crude extract (65%). The crude methanolic extract and various fractions of Andrachne cardifolia Muell, including chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions were subjected to in vitro enzyme inhibition activity against acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, lipoxygenase and urease enzymes. A significant enzyme inhibition activity (40-89%) was shown by the crude methanolic extract and its fractions against lipoxygenase, while low to significant activity (40-71%) against butyrylcholinesterase. The softness of loose wool is heavily dependent on diameter, both within and between breeds. Crimp characteristics also play a significant but minor role. Bulk compressibility is a highly important factor, and it may well be that the effect of various crimp parameters on softness is due to their influence on bulk compressibility rather than to any directly appreciated tactile effect. The stress-strain properties of 40 samples of wool fibres, representing four enduse groupings, have been examined. There are significant differences between the groups in the stress values developed at strains ranging from 2% to the breaking point. When all the results are pooled together, groups being ignored, stress values are found to be significantly dependent on diameter (at all strains) and on the coefficient of variation along the length of single fibres (at 2% strain and at the breaking point).
