The conversion of biomass-coal mixtures into energy using thermal conversion systems offers a more environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional coal consumption. A reactor with an internal compartment is proposed to improve the pyrolysis performance of lignite coal and mixtures of lignite coal with peanut shells. The study investigates lignite coal with varying moisture contents and peanut shell proportions (0%, 10%, 25%, and 50%) at a temperature of 500°C, using a heating rate of 0.1°C/s. The results indicated that dry mixtures demonstrated higher overall productivity compared to wet mixtures, particularly in terms of charcoal production. The weight of charcoal increased by 4.83%, 4.71%, 4.02%, and 2.61% across the mixtures. The total conversion rates for dry mixtures were 24.59%, 29.27%, 34.36%, and 40.44%, while for wet mixtures, the conversion rates were 29.42%, 33.98%, 38.38%, and 43.05%, respectively. The results revealed that moisture content during pyrolysis significantly influenced the productivity of lignite and lignite-peanut shell mixtures. The conversion rates in dry mixtures were lower compared to those in wet mixtures. The novelty of this work lies in its pioneering investigation of the impact of moisture on the slow pyrolysis of Turkish lignite mixed with peanut shells. This study was conducted to investigate whether a translated and adapted conversational training programme enhances emotion understanding in preschool children. Given the lack of such research in Pakistan (and outside the West in general), the training study reported here was conceived to fill this gap. Thirty-nine 5- to 6-year-olds at two school sites were randomly assigned to training and control groups, after screening for emotional and behavioural problems. The participants were pre- and post-tested on Emotional Comprehension after an 8-week intervention. Children from both groups listened to the translated and adapted version of the ‘Stories of Jack and Theo’, rich in mental state language. Children from the training group participated in conversations about the mental states of the story characters and themselves using semi-structured conversational procedures, while children from the control group were engaged in board games mediated by an adult. The findings showed that children in the training group outperformed those in the control group on emotional comprehension even after statistically controlling for earlier executive function and working memory. Background/ Objectives: Rosacea is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder. Endocrinedisrupting chemicals (EDC) are toxic substances, that may gain entry through the skin and subsequently interfere with hormonal and immune functions. Bisphenol A (BPA) and pentachlorophenol sodium (PCS) are two of these EDCs, incriminated in the pathogenesis of certain inflammatory skin disorders. We aimed to test the hypothesis that exposure to BPA and PCS might be involved in the pathogenesis of rosacea. Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study involved 34 patients with rosacea (18F/16 M; mean age 48.5 ± 11 years) and 34 age and sex-matched healthy controls (20 F/14 M; mean age 48.2 ± 10.2 years). Main anthropometric measures, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), insulin, HOMA-IR, lipids, C-reactive protein (CRP), BPA, and PCS levels were quantified and recorded. Results: Serum CRP (9.6 ± 3.4 vs. 3.7 ± 1.6 mg/L, respectively, p0.05 for all). Serum BPA levels were 55.8 ± 14.4 and 51.9 ± 19.2 ng/mL, and PCS levels were 63.3 ± 45.9 ng/mL and 68.6 ± 40.8 ng/mL for patients and healthy controls, respectively. There was no significant difference in BPA and PCS levels between the two groups (p > 0.05 for both). No significant association was found among HOMAIR, CRP, BPA, and PCS levels (p > 0.05 for all). Conclusions: Although the present study fails to provide presumptive evidence for the role of BPA and PCS in rosacea, the question as to other EDCs might be involved in its etiopathogenesis remains. This study examines chatbot technology from a business perspective and aims to provide empirical evidence for chatbot adoption by travel agencies. We have collected data from 356 travel agency officials based on the technology – organization – environment (TOE) framework and the model of goal-directed behavior (MGB). The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The findings showed that relative advantage, technological orientation, and perceived trends positively influence attitudes toward chatbots. Surprisingly, firm size and perceived complexity were found to have no significant impact on attitude toward chatbots, contrary to previous research. Additionally, the study highlights that the behavioral desire of travel agencies for chatbots strongly predicts their intention to adopt them. Flare Assessment in Rheumatoid Arthritis (FLARE-RA) is a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to evaluate the flare-related symptoms of individuals with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in the last three months. The present study aimed to demonstrate the translation, cultural adaptation and psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the FLARE-RA. A cross-sectional psychometric analysis study was conducted with a total of 80 patients (61 Women, 19 Men; 49.6 ± 15.4 years). Patients filled-out the Global Health Assessment (GHA), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Disease Activity Score-28 (DAS-28), Rheumatoid Arthritis Quality-of-Life Questionnaire (RAQoL), Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) in addition to the Turkish FLARE-RA. In addition, participants' Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were recorded. Thirty patients refilled the FLARE-RA again, one-week later. In the cross-cultural adaptation, translation procedures and pilot study, each item of the Turkish version of the FLARE-RA was found to be comprehensible. The ICC (two-way random-effect, single-measure model) and alpha values of the Turkish FLARE-RA were 0.97 and 0.96, respectively. The MDC95 values calculated for the FLARE-RA, FLARE-RA-arthritis, and FLARE-RA-symptoms scores were 2.01, 1.60, and 1.18, respectively. FLARE-RA, FLARE-RA-arthritis, and FLARE-RA-symptoms scores were highly correlated with VAS-rest, VAS-activity, DAS-28, RAQoL, and HAQ scores (r > 0.50). On the other hand, scores of FLARE-RA, FLARE-RA-arthritis, and FLARE-RA-symptoms were moderately correlated with the GHA-patient subscale, GHA-clinician subscale, ESR, and duration of morning stiffness (0.35 < r < 0.50). Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a potentially debilitating condition resulting from a low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) volume secondary to spinal CSF leakage. Characteristic clinical and radiological imaging findings are helpful in diagnosis. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) prophylaxis during chemoimmunotherapy with carboplatin plus etoposide and atezolizumab in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study enrolled ES-SCLC patients receiving carboplatin plus etoposide and atezolizumab, categorized into G-CSF and non-G-CSF groups. Demographic and disease-related data were collected. Response rates, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and toxicity were analyzed. Results: Of 119 patients (median age: 63 years), the overall response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) were 72.3% and 81.5%, respectively. In the G-CSF group, the ORR was 76.4% compared to 60.0% in the non-G-CSF group (p = 0.33), and the DCR was 85.4% versus 70.0%, respectively (p = 0.46). Median PFS was 8.3 months (95% CI, 6.8–9.8) in the G-CSF group and 6.8 months (95% CI, 6.2–7.5) in the non-G-CSF group (p = 0.24). Median OS was 13.8 months (95% CI, 9.6–18.1) for the G-CSF group and 10.6 months (95% CI, 7.9–13.3) for the non-G-CSF group (p = 0.47). Grade 3 ≥ adverse events were similar between groups (49.4% vs. 33.3%, respectively, p = 0.12). Conclusion: G-CSF prophylaxis can be safely used in ES-SCLC patients undergoing carboplatin plus etoposide and atezolizumab regimen without significantly altering efficacy or increasing toxicity. Background: The Directly Observed Treatment-Short Course (DOTS) Programme was implemented by WHO and includes a combination of four anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs (isoniazid, pyrazinamide, ethambutol and rifampicin) for a period of six months to eradicate the TB infection completely. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is recognized as one of a strong contributor of TB according to World Health Organization (WHO). The presence of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM type 2) makes TB treatment complicated. Thus, the objective of the current meta-analysis was to identify and quantify the impact of type 2DM on treatment outcomes of TB patients treated under the DOTS Programme. Methods: This meta-analysis was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Through a systematic review of relevant literature, we focused on studies investigating treatment outcomes including extended treatment duration and recurrence for individuals with both TB and DM undergoing DOTS therapy. The extracted information included study designs, sample sizes, patient characteristics and reported treatment results. Results: In 44 studies from different parts of the world, the pooled HR for the impact of DM on extended treatment duration and reoccurrence were HR 0.72, 95% CI 0.56-0.83, p < .01 and HR 0.93, 95% CI 0.70-1.04, p = .08, respectively. The pooled HR for impact of DM on composite TB treatment outcomes was calculated as 0.76 (95% CI 0.60-0.87), p < .01 with an effect size of 41.18. The heterogeneity observed among the included studies was moderate (I² = 55.79%). Conclusions: A negative impact of DM was found on recurrence and extended treatment duration in TB patients treated with DOTS therapy. DM type 2 is responsible for the TB treatment prolongation and TB recurrence rates. The beta regression model is a flexible model, which widely used when the dependent variable is in ratios and percentages in the range of (0.1). The coefficients of the beta regression model are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. This paper discusses the meanings and practices of multiculturalism among young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in one of Australia's most multicultural cities. It is based on a three-year ethnographic study exploring refugee and migrant youth engaged in sports and arts in the suburbs of Melbourne known as "migrant", "ethnic" and "multicultural" areas. The result of the study indicates that multiculturalism from below can happen differently from the "place making" strategy or "ethnic enclave" idea in which ethnic minorities are viewed as creating their own ethnic colonies in isolation from the mainstream society. Kombucha is a fermented, acidic beverage that dates back thousands of years as a remedy for various health problems in East Asia. Due to its health benefits, kombucha has gained popularity and attracted the attention of both consumers and researchers. The health benefits of kombucha are predominantly attributed to its bioactive compounds that have antioxidant, antimicrobial, probiotic, and other positive effects owing to fermentation. Many factors such as the type of the substrate used, the symbiotic culture of the bacterial yeast composition, and fermentation conditions influence the extent of these properties. This review focuses on recent developments regarding the bioactive constituents of kombucha and its potential health benefits (antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective effects) as well as its impact on multiple sclerosis, nephrotoxicity, gastric ulceration and gut microbiota. Additionally, the composition of kombucha, alternative uses of its biofilm, and potential toxicity are also discussed. Kombucha is a healthy and safe beverage with multiple health benefits that are primarily related to the presence of bacteria, yeasts, and other bioactive constituents. Moreover, kombucha has been suggested as a potential source of probiotics and eco-friendly materials (kombucha-derived bacterial cellulose) for several industries including food and textile. To investigate the effect of cervical mobilization on joint position sense, balance and gait in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Sixteen MS patients received traditional rehabilitation and traditional rehabilitation+cervical mobilization treatments in different orders, 2 days a week for 4 weeks. For the cervical mobilization, joint traction and shifts with myofascial release techniques were applied. Joint position sense was evaluated from the bilateral knee and ankle joints with a digital goniometer, balanced with the Berg Balance Test (BBT), the Functional Reach Test, and gait with the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) and the Timed 25-Foot Walk Test. Improvements were determined in joint position sense, balance, gait with both treatment methods (p < 0.05). With the addition of cervical mobilization to traditional treatment, there was observed to be an increased effect carried over in knee joint position sense and BBT (p < 0.05). The BBT and DGI scores improved in the group applied with cervical mobilization following the washout period (p < 0.05). Cervical mobilization could be effective in improving joint position sense, balance and gait, and accelerated improvements in a short time. Objectives: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its microvascular complications are characterized by chronic inflammation. The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score is a tool used to assess nutritional status and is often associated indirectly with inflammatory processes. We aimed to compare the CONUT scores of T2DM patients with those of healthy volunteers and to compare T2DM patients with and without microvascular complications. Methods: Patients diagnosed with T2DM and healthy volunteers (as controls) were included in the study. The CONUT score is calculated using the following formula: serum albumin score + total cholesterol score + total lymphocyte count score. CONUT scores of T2DM patients and healthy controls, as well as those of diabetics with and without microvascular complications, were compared. Results: The CONUT scores of the T2DM and control groups were (1 [0–7]) and (0 [0–2]), respectively (p < 0.001). The sensitivity and specificity of the CONUT score (<1.5 threshold) in detecting T2DM were 43% and 90%, respectively (AUC: 0.67, p < 0.001, 95% CI: 0.64–0.71). Moreover, the CONUT score was an independent risk factor for T2DM (OR: 0.34, p < 0.001, 95% CI: 0.22–0.52). The CONUT score of T2DM patients with microvascular complications (2 [0–7]) was significantly higher than that of T2DM patients without microvascular complications (0 [0–4]) and control subjects (0 [0–2]) (p < 0.001). A CONUT score higher than 1.5 had 83% sensitivity and 92% specificity in detecting T2DM with microvascular complications (AUC: 0.91, p < 0.001, 95% CI: 0.89–0.93). Objectives. The aim of this study is to compare the ergonomic risk levels, musculoskeletal complaints and quality of life of physiotherapists (PTs) according to their field of work. Methods. A total of 107 volunteer PTs participated in the study, whose information was recorded. Ergonomic risk levels were determined using rapid entire body assessment (REBA). Complaints about the musculoskeletal system of PTs were evaluated with the Cornell musculoskeletal discomfort questionnaire (CMDQ) and quality of life was evaluated by the Nottingham health profile. Results. PTs who worked with pediatric patients (Grouppediatric; n = 47) were younger (p<0.001). PTs who worked with adult patients (Groupadult; n = 60) had a higher daily number of patients (p<0.001). The REBA score did not make a difference between the groups (p = 0.379). The difference was found in the upper back region of the CMDQ (p<0.05). There was no difference between groups for quality of life (p>0.05). Conclusions. Grouppediatric may be working in ergonomically demanding positions, although there is no statistical difference. The injury sites of the musculoskeletal system can differ. However, the reflection of musculoskeletal system problems on quality of life does not show any difference between the groups of PTs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Curable approaches for primary osteosarcoma are inadequate and urge investigation of novel therapeutic formulations. Cannabinoid ligands exert antiproliferative and apoptotic effect on osteosarcoma cells via cannabinoid 2 (CB2) or transient receptor potential vanilloid type (TRPV1) receptors. In this study, we confirmed CB2 receptor expression in MG63 and Saos-2 osteosarcoma cells by qRT-PCR and flow cytometry (FCM), then reported the reduction effect of synthetic specific CB2 receptor agonist CB65 on the proliferation of osteosarcoma cells by WST-1 (water-soluble tetrazolium-1) and RTCA (real-time impedance-based proliferation). CB65 revealed an IC50 (inhibitory concentration) for MG63 and Saos-2 cells as 1.11 × 10−11 and 4.95 × 10−11 M, respectively. The specific antiproliferative effect of CB65 on osteosarcoma cells was inhibited by CB2 antagonist AM630. CB65 induced late apoptosis of MG63 and Saos-2 cells at 24 and 48 h, respectively by FCM when applied submaximal concentration. A novel CB65 liposomal system was generated by a thin film hydration method with optimal particle size (141.7 ± 0.6 nm), polydispersity index (0.451 ± 0.026), and zeta potential (−10.9 ± 0.3 mV) values. The encapsulation efficiency (EE%) of the CB65-loaded liposomal formulation was 51.12%. The CB65 and CB65-loaded liposomal formulation releasing IC50 of CB65 reduced proliferation by RTCA and invasion by scratch assay and induced late apoptosis of MG63 and Saos-2 cells, by FCM. Our results demonstrate the CB2 receptor-mediated antiproliferative and apoptotic effect of a new liposomal CB65 delivery system on osteosarcoma cells that can be used as a targeted and intelligent tool for bone tumors to ameliorate pediatric bone cancers following in vivo validation. AbstractThis study scrutinizes Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) software, a powerful instrument to expedite the translation process, and their unintended bias against Arabic speakers, particularly refugees. We propose that pre-existing biases in ASR training data reflect societal prejudices, leading to orientalist and Islamophobic misrepresentations. We used four ASR tools to transcribe interviews with Arabic-speaking refugee women, employing ideological textual analysis to detect biases. Our findings indicate that ASR algorithms may inadvertently associate Arabic speakers with conflict, war, religion, and narrow down Arab identities to Islam-centric representations. On October 30, 2020, an Mw = 7.0 earthquake hit Izmir, Turkey, causing the loss of 118 lives and injuries of over a thousand people while producing a high monetary loss in the region. In this study, field observations in the earthquake-struck area have demonstrated that the damages were localized on reinforced concrete (RC) structures, related to low quality of materials, improper workmanship, not fulfilling the design and seismic code requirements, and lack of inspection and the characteristics of the site displayed a significant impact. The study aimed to analyze cytokine levels, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-10, and IL-36γ, to investigate the link between pro- and anti-inflammatory responses in periodontal conditions and assess their potential as diagnostic biomarkers for distinguishing between different types of periodontal conditions. 80 systemically healthy non-smokers (25 periodontally healthy, 25 with gingivitis, 30 with periodontitis) were included. Clinical periodontal parameters were recorded, and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples were obtained. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was applied to determine the diagnostic value of cytokines. IL-36γ had the highest sensitivity for diagnosing periodontitis, although its specificity for identifying those without periodontitis was relatively low. The combination of IL-1β and IL-36γ was the most effective in differentiating periodontitis from periodontal health. IL-10 was found to be an acceptable discriminator for distinguishing gingivitis from healthy conditions. However, its sensitivity and specificity for identifying gingivitis were lower. The combination of the three cytokines showed the highest ability to distinguish between periodontitis and gingivitis. The levels of IL-1β, IL-10, and IL-36γ in GCF may provide insights into periodontal health and disease status. Further studies are needed to validate these results and explore the potential of these cytokines in periodontal disease management. All three of these cytokines exhibit exceptional diagnostic accuracy, particularly in distinguishing between chronic periodontitis and periodontal health. Moreover, the combination of IL-1β and IL-36γ stands out as the most accurate diagnostic indicator for periodontitis. This combination could serve as a robust biomarker panel for the early detection and monitoring of periodontal disease, potentially allowing for timely interventions to prevent disease progression. The present study investigated crystal violet removal by modifying the chestnut shell with a chemical activation method. For this purpose, H2SO4 and NaOH pretreatments were applied to the chestnut shell and the pretreatment method that gave the best performance under the same conditions was determined. The best adsorption efficiency was achieved with the NaOH pretreatment (99.06%) and the crystal violet adsorption reached equilibrium within 60 min. After selecting the best chemical activation method, the modified chestnut shell was characterized before and after adsorption (FTIR and SEM). Furthermore, the effects of parameters such as pH, initial crystal violet concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature, and contact time were observed. Moreover, isotherm, kinetics and thermodynamics of the adsorption process were researched in detail. The best results were obtained with the Langmuir isotherm model (R2=0.99) and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R2=0.99). Theory of Mind (ToM) is understanding others' minds. Empathy is an insight into emotions and feelings of others. Persons with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) may experience impairment in ToM and empathy. To investigate ToM, empathy, and their relationship with neuroimaging, neuropsychological, and neuropsychiatric data. 41 pwMS and 41 HC were assessed using RMET for ToM, EQ, BICAMS, HADS. Cortical and subcortical gray matter volumes were calculated with Freesurfer from 3T MRI scans. pwMS showed lower EQ scores (44.82 ± 11.9 vs 51.29 ± 9.18, p = 0.02) and worse RMET performance (22.37 ± 4.09 vs 24,47 ± 2.93, p = 0.011). Anxiety and depression were higher in pwMS. EQ correlated with subcortical (amygdala) and cortical (anterior cingulate) volumes. RMET correlated with cortical volumes (posterior cingulate, lingual). In regression analysis, amygdala volume was the single predictor of empathy performance (p = 0.041). There were no significant correlations between social cognitive tests and general cognition. A weak negative correlation was found between EQ and the level of anxiety (r = -0.342, p = 0.038) The present study indicates that pwMS have impairment on ToM and empathy. In this research, paying particular attention to freezıng of gait (FOG), we aimed to investigate the associations between the clinical features and quality of lilfe (QOL) indexes comparatively in our PD subjects with and without STN-DBS therapy. All consecutive PD subjects with and without STN-DBS who applied to our movement disorders outpatient clinics between January/2022 and September/2022; and accepted to participate in the study were enrolled. The demographic data and clinical features were noted. Besides, the MDS-UPDRS, the FOG Questionnaire (FOGQ) and the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) have also been performed on all individuals. Overall, 105 patients with PD participated in this study (34 patients with STN-DBS, 71 patients without STN-DBS). No difference was found in the PDQ-39 scores between patients with and without STN-DBS. The correlation analyses between the PQQ-39 scores and the clinical parameters revealed significant moderate correlations with the FOGQ score and low correlations with MDS-UPDRS scores. The analyses repeated in either patient group showed that there were no correlations between the MDS-UPDRS scores and PDQ-39 indexes in the DBS group. Besides, the correlations between the PDQ-39 scores and the FOG scores were more prominent in patients without DBS therapy. FOG was found to be associated with worse QOL status in both patients with and without STN-DBS therapy. However, the correlations analyses in either group showed that FOG was a more significant determinant in the QOL indexes in patients without DBS. Future studies evaluating the impact of other clinical features such as falls and gait impairment in QOL of patients with STN-DBS may provide contributions to the current evidence. Insulin treatment is fundamental to diabetes management. Basal insulin therapy reduces intraday glycemic fluctuations upon reaching a steady state. Besides better blood glucose regulation and achieving target HbA1c values in patients, it also offers protection from diabetes complications. In this review, we aimed to compare basal-acting insulins in light of the literature. We reviewed current evidence related to diabetes treatment with basal insulins. This includes discussions on clinical trials and meta-analyses concerning first and second-generation ultra-long-acting basal insulins. Treatment indications for long-acting basal insulins, which have shown benefits and are considered superior or comparable to others in the literature, are derived from current clinical studies and meta-analyses, which form the basis of the recommendations in this review. First and second-generation basal insulins do not show much superiority over each other in terms of blood glucose regulation and reaching the target HbA1c. However, second-generation basal insulins cause fewer hypoglycemic events. We recommend using the appropriate basal insulin in patient-based, individualized treatments. This study investigated the interactive effects of drought stress with biochar on plant growth, the physiological and biochemical attributes of soybean seedlings. A pot trial tested the effect of amending a loamy sandy soil with biochar at three doses: 0%, 3% and 6% in the alleviation of drought stress, imposed by adjusting soil moisture content at three levels (in terms of soil field capacity, FC): 100% FC, 75% FC and 50% FC. Water deficit negatively influenced the growth of soybean seedlings and chlorophyll content of leaves, particularly in non-amended plants whereas biochar amendment boosted the growth and chlorophyll content, particularly under drought stress. Drought stress elevated malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), proline, sucrose and abscisic acid (ABA) contents as well as the antioxidant enzyme activity [peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)] of soybean leaves but reduced the contents of indole acetic acid (IAA) and gibberellic acid (GA); biochar amendment counteracted the impact of drought. It has recently been observed that microorganisms in the gut can regulate brain processes through the gut microbiota-brain axis, affecting pain, depression, and sleep quality. Consequently, prebiotics and probiotics may potentially improve physical, psychological, and cognitive states in those with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) who have an altered microbiota balance. In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to determine the effects of probiotic and prebiotic treatments on pain, sleep, quality of life, and psychological distress (depression and anxiety) in FMS, 53 female participants with FMS were randomised to receive either: 1) 4 × 1010 CFUs per day for the 18 patients in the probiotics group; 2) 10 g dose inulin per day for the 17 patients in the prebiotic group; or 3) a placebo for 8 weeks for the 18 patients in this group. The mean ages of the groups were similar and there was no significant difference between the groups. The impact of FMS on pain, sleep quality, quality of life, anxiety, and depressive symptoms were measured at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks post-intervention. Probiotic supplementation significantly decreased the Beck Depression Index (BDI), Beck Anxiety Index (BAI), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores compared to baseline, while prebiotic supplementation only significantly decreased PSQI scores. Moreover, participants who received probiotic treatment presented a significantly reduced Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score compared with those who received placebo treatment, after the interventions. Probiotic supplementation significantly improved sleep quality, depression, anxiety, and pain scores compared to those at baseline in FMS patients, while prebiotic supplementation significantly improved pain scores and sleep quality. The potential benefits of using probiotics for treatment management in FMS patients is supported by the results of the current study and might provide an important strategy to combat FMS-associated diseases. The appearance and performance properties of textile products are affected by the fibre, yarn, and fabric structure and the finishing processes. The number of fibres in cross-section, fibre disposition, fibre alignment, the position of the fibres in the strands, binding in, overall structure, and twist are the main factors affecting yarn characteristics. Woven fabric properties are affected by fibre, yarn, and fabric characteristics. This study aims to improve the properties of 100% cotton fabric and obtain softer fabrics. For this purpose, the effect of woven fabric construction and hollow weft yarn structure, on the mechanical properties (weft-warp density, fabric weight, fabric strength, abrasion resistance) of woven fabrics were investigated. The effect of fabric construction on fabric weight and fabric construction was found statistically significant. The Success Likelihood Index Method (SLIM) is often used in human error (HE) evaluation in the maritime industry, where it is difficult to obtain human error data. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the human error (HE) probabilities in watchkeeping operations on the bridge by using the SLIM. The trend of internationalisation of education has resulted in the wider implementation of English Medium Instruction (EMI) programmes in education, especially at the tertiary level. While some of these programmes adopted strict English-dominant policies, others embraced flexible bilingual or multilingual policies to ensure students’ learning and wellbeing. This study explored international graduate students’ learning and languaging experiences in an EMI graduate classroom with flexible multilingual policies in a Korean university. Data included field notes, students’ work and language samples, and focus group interviews with students. Using thematic analysis of qualitative data, the authors reported that students’ experiences with multilingualism as a resource approach were mostly productive since it created third spaces for the participants to deploy their multilingual resources to construct, promote and demonstrate learning in their class reports. Participants also reported increased compassion for each other through collaborative learning and enhanced understanding of both home and new languages during their studies in the graduate programme that was mediated through multiple languages. This study offered implications for EMI practitioners, higher education institutions, and policymakers regarding language planning, language policy, and language support in EMI contexts. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of cigarette and other tobacco use of medical students, and to determine the levels of smoking addiction and to evaluate the effect of the pandemic. The cross-sectional study was carried out in January 2022. A total of 487 students, the lifetime tobacco use and current tobacco use prevalence was 62% and 40.2%. Current (past 1 month) electronic cigarette, cigar or pipe, hookah, cigarette prevalence was 2.7%, 6.8%, 11.1%, 39.4% respectively and daily cigarette 21.1%. It was found that 19.4% of students had moderate to high level of addiction. Seventy percent of students with moderate to high addiction and 41% of students with low addiction reported increased smoking. Most of the daily smokers stated that their desire to smoke did not decrease due to COVID-19, and 46.6% increased smoking. Forty percent of those with moderate to high levels of addiction and 6% of those with low addiction thought that the disease would be severe if they were infected with COVID-19. It was found that students with moderate to high level of addiction increased smoking more and their attempts to quit smoking were less. Students should be provided with support to quit smoking. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdosing is the most common cause of drug-induced liver failure. Despite extensive study, N-acetylcysteine is currently the only antidote utilized for treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect and mechanisms of phenelzine, an FDA-approved antidepressant, on APAP-induced toxicity in HepG2 cells. The human liver hepatocellular cell line HepG2 was used to investigate APAP-induced cytotoxicity. The protective effects of phenelzine were determined by examining the cell viability, combination index calculation, Caspase 3/7 activation, Cytochrome c release, H2O2 levels, NO levels, GSH activity, PERK protein levels, and pathway enrichment analysis. Elevated H2O2 production and decreased glutathione (GSH) levels were indicators of APAP-induced oxidative stress. The combination index of 2.04 indicated that phenelzine had an antagonistic effect on APAP-induced toxicity. When compared to APAP alone, phenelzine treatment considerably reduced caspase 3/7 activation, cytochrome c release, and H2O2 generation. However, phenelzine had minimal effect on NO and GSH levels and did not alleviate ER stress. Pathway enrichment analysis revealed a potential connection between APAP toxicity and phenelzine metabolism. These findings suggested that phenelzine's protective effect against APAP-induced cytotoxicity could be attributed to the drug's capacity to reduce APAP-mediated apoptotic signaling. One of the most important side effects of Doxorubicin (DOX), a chemotherapeutic agent, is nephrotoxicity. The purpose of this study is to determine whether different doses of natural polyphenol Resveratrol (RSV) show antioxidative, anti-inflammatory or antiapoptotic effects in kidney tissue in DOX-induced nephrotoxicity and to detect how nephrin and OTULIN levels are affected in this process. A total of six equal groups made up of the 42 Sprague-Dawley rats utilized in the study (n = 7) were randomly assigned. Except for the control group (no treatment), all treatments were given intraperitoneally to the DOX (15 mg/kg), DOX + RSV I (15 mg/kg DOX+ 1 mg/kg/day RSV), DOX + RSV II (15 mg/kg DOX+ 5 mg/kg/day RSV), RSV I and RSV II groups. Kidney tissues taken from rats sacrificed on the fifteenth day were analyzed biochemically, histologically and immunohistochemically. Accordingly, it was determined that nephrin and OTULIN levels decreased in kidney tissue in DOX-induced nephrotoxicity. Furthermore, DOX caused oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis, as well as histopathological changes in kidney tissue. However, it was observed that DOX-induced changes were regulated by RSV application. RSV was demonstrated to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties in dose-dependent DOX-induced nephrotoxicity. A novel series of twelve aromatic bis-ureido-substituted benzenesulfonamides was synthesised by conjugation of aromatic aminobenzenesulfonamides with aromatic bis-isocyanates. The obtained bis-ureido-substituted derivatives were tested against four selected human carbonic anhydrase isoforms (hCA I, hCA II, hCA IX and hCA XII). Most of the new compounds showed an effective inhibitory profile against isoforms hCA IX and hCA XII, also having some selectivity with respect to hCA I and hCA II. The inhibition constants of these compounds against isoforms hCA IX and XII were in the range of 6.73–835 and 5.02–429 nM, respectively. Since hCA IX and hCA XII are important drug targets for anti-cancer/anti-metastatic drugs, these effective inhibitors reported here may be considered of interest for cancer related studies in which these enzymes are involved. This study aims to understand differences/similarities in the genetic profile of the endometrium at the start of window of implantation (WOI) in women with unexplained infertility (UI) and unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (uRPL). Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from the endometrium were evaluated using gene expression array and pathway enrichment analysis was performed to analyse gene expression pathways involved in both conditions. We found 2,171 genes arranged in 117 pathways and 730 genes arranged in 33 pathways differentially expressed in endometrium of patients in UI and uRPL, respectively. Complement-coagulation cascades, morphine addiction pathway, and PI3K-Akt signalling pathway were predominantly differentially expressed in UI. Cancer pathways, NF-κB signalling pathway, and actin cytoskeleton regulation pathway showed significant changes in uRPL. Forty-eight percent of DEGs and 84% of differentially expressed pathways in uRPL were found in the endometrium of UI patients. Unexpected close association in gene expression pathways between UI and uRPL is observed supporting the hypothesis 'uRPL is a clinical subset of UI'. Yet 100% DEGs overlap wasn't found suggesting the endometrium has still some different gene expression patterns at start of WOI in UI and uRPL. Missing data is common in survival analysis. It is either removed or imputed using various methods. Expectation-maximization (EM) imputation is a popular method in Cox regression studies. This paper investigated the effect of different regression methods on Cox regression modeling within the framework of EM. A stratified Cox regression model was derived from a dataset of categorical and numerical variables. Missing data were imputed using the EM framework with five machine learning algorithms and then were compared to the full model. The results show that the recursive partition and regression tree (RPART) method performed better than others. However, all regression methods performed poorly in categorical covariate imputation. The genus Glaucium Mill., one of the important Papaveraceae family plants, is rich in isoquinoline alkaloids and distributed worldwide. Isolation and identification of bioactive alkaloids from Glaucium grandiflorum Boiss. & Huet. subsp. refractum (Nabelek) Mory var. torquatum (Cullen) Mory and G. corniculatum (L.) Rudolph var. corniculatum (Aslan 2012), and investigation of their antioxidant and anticholinesterase activities. The aerial parts of each plant were dried, powdered, and percolated with methanol, then each extract was fractionated between 50% aqueous acetic acid and petroleum. Their aqueous acidic layer was adjusted to pH 7–8 with NH4OH and extracted with chloroform, the extract was subjected to CC separation and isolation. Structures of the isolated alkaloids were elucidated by 1D and 2D-NMR and mass spectral analyses. The alkaloid extracts and their pure alkaloids were tested for anti-cholinesterase (AChE and BuChE) and antioxidant (ABTS, CUPRAC, β-carotene linoleic acid tests) activities in vitro. Methanol extracts of Glaucium grandiflorum subsp. refractum var. torquatum and G. corniculatum var. corniculatum afforded a novel compound glauciumoline and seven known isoquinoline alkaloids three of which have an aporphine-type and the other five have a protopine-type skeleton. Among them, trans-protopinium (7) and cis-protopinium (8) were isolated from a Glaucium species for the first time. Tertiary amine extracts (TAEs) of both plants showed very strong acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity. The TAE of the plants also showed strong antioxidant activity while the isolated alkaloids showed no meaningful activity in the anticholinesterase and antioxidant tests. The rapid increase of rates of change, disruptive events, risk and uncertainty increasingly threaten the long-term utilisation of hospital buildings. This challenge calls for an evolution in the lifecycle thinking that has always been integral to the hospital building design processes; or an approach that is termed 'future proofing'. Yet the implementation of future proofing as an emerging design requirement is impeded by lack of holistic understanding of the concept, and clarity about its objectives. As such, this research aims to provide a conceptualisation of future proofing via a taxonomic hierarchy. We interviewed sixteen experienced hospital architects from leading consultant firms across Australia to explore their general perceptions, and implementation in practice, of future proofing. The semi-structured interviews were informed by and indeed tested a theoretical model of future proofing previously constructed via literature review and were analysed and validated via thematic analysis and member checking. Our findings align theoretical understanding with hospital architects' practice-based perceptions and experiences of future proofing; elucidating future proofing as a dynamic meta-capability involving a multi-purpose hierarchy. Accordingly, a hierarchical integrated model of future proofing in practice was developed based on three axes (Survive, Evolve and Thrive), respectively defining three sets of spectrums with two extremes ranging from passivity to activity (Resilience-Mitigation, Maintainability-Improvement, and Changeability-Transition). While in previous research future proofing has been oversimplified and perceived largely in terms of adaptability, our findings support a more expansive definition of future proofing that includes various lifecycle design considerations. In this work, implants with enhanced antibacterial and surface properties besides mechanical, biological, and chemical properties were prepared with the replacement of traditional titanium and titanium alloys in the field of biomedical materials. Titanium substrates were coated with chondroitin sulfate (CS) containing (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GLYMO) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) based thin film using sol-gel technology. Chondroitin sulfate is a preferred material due to its characteristics antioxidative and osseointegresion properties besides its collagen-forming properties. Coated implants were morphologically elucidated with atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The structure of the chondroitin sulfate-containing films was investigated with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX) techniques. The obtained CS-based sol-gel surface coatings are thermally stable up to ∼200 °C according to TGA and DTA analysis results. The biological and antibacterial properties of the coatings were also determined. The biocompatibility and osseointegration properties of the coatings developed within the scope of the study were, determined by in vivo studies on rats. According to biocompatibility results of CS/Sol-Gel coated surfaces, Cell viability (%) rates of CS-based coatings showed between 89 and 66%. According to the experimental data, it has been claimed that implants improved with antibacterial, stable, homogeneous, and biocompatible coatings can be used as a new alternative product for dental and orthopedic applications. Abstract Background Material and Methods Results Conclusion This study aimed to expand our existing information on changes in the regulation of motor movement and behaviour by investigating the effects of unilateral and bilateral lesions on the claustrum (CL).36 Wistar Albino adult male rats were randomly divided into six groups. An electrical lesion was created with a constant current source in the unilateral and bilateral anterior clastrum using a stereotaxic frame in rats. The lesioned groups and the control group underwent an automatic behaviour recording device such as mobilisation, freezing, eating, drinking behaviour, grooming, turning, etc. behaviour was recorded and analysed. Simultaneously, ultrasonic sounds in rats were examined with ultrasonic sound recording program. Anxiety was then reassessed with the elevated plus maze test. Data were compared with the control group. Rats were eventually sacrificed and the brain tissue was post-fixed. Histochemical examination was done and lesions’ existence was confirmed.In this study, lesions of ventral of CL can cause increase in spontaneous behaviours such as freezing and rearing. And, it has been shown to cause a statistically significant change. In addition to the behavioural changes, right CL lesions have caused a significant increase in drinking behaviour associated with increased anxiety. All operated groups showed a significant decrease in clockwise and counterclockwise rotation movements.Experimental results show that CL lesions influence spontaneous behaviour which indicate the need for new studies to understand the role of CL in anxiety-depression. Motivational interviews (MI) may change the perspective of birth in pregnant women by changing their negative thoughts and increasing their self-efficacy. This study was conducted to identify the effects of MI on childbirth perceptions and childbirth self-efficacy in nulliparous pregnant women who had traumatic childbirth perceptions. The research was carried out as a randomised-controlled trial wıth 166 pregnant women, including 83 experimental group and 83 control group. In the collection of data, the Traumatic Childbirth Perception Scale (TCPS) and the Childbirth Self-Efficacy Inventory (CSEI-C32) were utilised. Four sessions of MI were held with the pregnant women in the experimental group at weekly intervals whereas no initiative was applied to the pregnant women in the control group. As per the measurements performed after the MI held with the experimental group, it was found that the experimental group had a significantly lower mean TCPS score than the control group (p < 0.001). The experimental group also had a significantly higher mean CSEI-C32 score than the control group (p < 0.001). MI can be effective in reducing the traumatic childbirth perceptions and increasing childbirth self-efficacy. However, further research is required to assess the effectiveness MI on traumatic birth perception and self-efficacy. While the woman's perception of childbirth as a traumatic experience causes problems in the woman, baby and family. Motivational interviews are useful in increasing individuals' self-efficacy and developing positive health behaviours. The anti-gender movement has been publicly pursuing its quarrel against the social, academic, and political contexts of gender. Thus, it has also been constituting a basis of activism for fundamentalists, nationalists, and conservatives. In this article, we argue that recent instances show the movement has a reciprocal strategy, which articulates its structural, civil, and political aspects of counter-mobilization. After explaining the fundamentals of these aspects, we focus on the case of Turkey to embody our theoretical discussions. The present study examines the impact of ethical leadership on job satisfaction and work-related burnout (WRB) among street-level bureaucrats through the mediating roles of public service motivation (PSM), perceived organizational support (POS), and red tape by employing social exchange, conservation of resources, social learning, self-determination, and job demands-resources theories. Data from 712 street-level bureaucrats were collected in three waves in Turkey. The findings of structural equation modeling revealed that ethical leadership not only directly but also indirectly affects job satisfaction and WRB. Moreover, ethical leadership was effective in influencing employees' perceptions of job demands and resources in public sector organizations. The results are consistent with theoretical predictions that PSM is a motivational construct influenced by leadership and job resources, which in turn affects employee outcomes. The results also indicated that job resources (i.e., perceived organizational support) played a more significant role than job demands (i.e., red tape) in determining the effects of ethical leadership on employee outcomes. The present study aimed to examine the emotional experiences of student teachers of English language and the possible effects of these experiences and emotions on their professional self-adequacy. The current study used a social constructivist approach to emotions. Twelve student teachers of an ELT Program at a state university in Turkey took part in this study. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed inductively through content analysis. The analysis of the data yielded five major themes: Positive emotional experiences, negative emotional experiences, professional self-adequacy of student teachers, coping strategies, and regaining professional self-adequacy. The study indicated that student teachers of English language experienced both positive and negative emotional experiences during their pre-service teacher education. More importantly, this study highlighted the ways in which both positive emotional experiences of the student teachers and negative emotional experiences were connected to their professional self-adequacy. A model revealing the relation between the student teachers' emotional experiences and their professional self-adequacy was proposed. This article investigates how the Swedish forest industry, as represented by the three largest Swedish private forest companies (Svenska Cellulosa AB, Stora Enso, and Holmen), through their main public relations (PR) channels frame the current dominant Swedish forestry model and alternative models that are promoted by the European Union (EU). The content analysis of the three companies' trade magazines published between 2019 and 2022 explores the patterns in the PR framing of the forest management models with respect to economic, environmental, and social aspects. The time interval is centered by the July 2021 announcement of the EU's new Forest Strategy for 2030. The magazines' target audience is private forest owners, from whom Svenska Cellulosa AB, Stora Enso, and Holmen buy 40-50% of the timber used in production. The main finding of the study is that these corporations did not present alternative methods as viable options to replace the Swedish forestry model. The magazines, with some individual variations, respond to the alternative methods promoted by the EU and environmental associations by an increased emphasis on the benefits, mainly environmental, of the Swedish forestry model - framing the model as not only the most profitable but also the most ecologically sustainable.
