This article looks back at ALIA's prediction from 2013 that 'library print and ebook collections will establish a 50:50 equilibrium by 2020 and that this balance will be maintained for the foreseeable future' in the light of the experience at Curtin University Library. It revisits the findings of an article on the same topic published in 2015, and documents the situation at Curtin University Library as at 2022. It describes changes in the ebook environment and user attitudes over the past 6 years, as well as developments in the Library's acquisition strategies and methods to increase ebook holdings, and the current state of the collection. Discovery systems are now increasingly the dominant technology through which clients discover and access the information resources held by academic and research libraries. However, as yet, little work has been done to explore the use and impact of discovery systems on user behaviour. This article examines transactional logs from the Ex Libris Primo installation of Curtin University Library sampled between 2013 and 2015, together with the results of a user survey conducted in 2014, to investigate actual patterns of use and perceptions of value in the available discovery system functionality. The evidence collected supports the original contention of discovery system designers that the single-search box approach adopted by Google and other internet search engines is an appropriate form for library catalogue design. On the other hand, discovery system users clearly value functionality corresponding to traditional library tasks over attempts to locate the catalogue in the conceptual framework of social media. Many studies have documented the impact of maker experiences on children's learning, but few have examined how caregivers participate in maker activities in museums, both as facilitators of their children's learning and as learners in their own right. This qualitative study involved observations and interviews with 88 caregivers participating in a range of making and tinkering activities at a science museum. Aspects of the physical setting (including the arrangement and familiarity of tools and materials) and social setting (including facilitators' interactions with children versus caregivers) influenced whether families participated and the roles that caregivers played (observing, facilitating, or making). Across these roles, caregivers described benefitting as learners — by noticing their children's abilities and interests, learning new ways to support their children's learning, or fostering their own creativity. This paper investigates the recently introduced data-driven correction reduced order model (DDC-ROM) in the numerical simulation of the quasi-geostrophic equations. The DDC-ROM uses available data to model the correction term that is generally used to represent the missing information in low-dimensional ROMs. Physical constraints are added to the DDC-ROM to create the constrained data-driven correction reduced order model (CDDC-ROM) in order to further improve its accuracy and stability. Finally, the DDC-ROM and CDDC-ROM are tested on time intervals that are longer than the time interval over which they were trained. The numerical investigation shows that, for low-dimensional ROMs, both the DDC-ROM and CDDC-ROM perform better than the standard Galerkin ROM (G-ROM) and the CDDC-ROM provides the best results. Concerns about the decline of rural agricultural communities have recently refocused on new economic opportunities available in regional food production. This article analyses three on-the-ground case studies of rural development projects in Tasmania, Australia that aimed to develop new regional food opportunities. It analyses these projects to identify how local food producers can create viable economic alternatives in rural settings. The projects illustrate that the existence of regional food assets alone is not enough to guarantee economic development success: rural producers need connections into relevant knowledge networks if they are to identify and respond to new agro-food market opportunities. The article discusses a study of Australian academic reference libraries as part of an international collaboration seeking to identify the most important knowledge, skills and attributes. Librarians working in or managing reference-related services at university and vocational education and training institutions participated in the online survey. The study found that a core professional skill such as searching is the most important skill for librarians.

In 3 empirical studies we examined the computertechnology needs and concerns of close to 800 college and university studentswith various disabilities. Findings indicate that the overwhelming majorityof these students used computers, but that almost half needed some type ofadaptation to use computers effectively. Data provided by the students andby a small sample of professors underscore the importance of universal designin a variety of areas: courseware development, electronic teaching and learningmaterials, and campus information technology infrastructure. Sex and age ofstudents were only minimally related to attitudes toward computers or theiruse in our samples. Key findings summarize the problems faced by studentswith different disabilities as well as the computer related adaptations thatare seen as helpful.
