Milk is a highly nutritional food, and separation of major allergens from milk has become important to people who are allergic. The aim of this study was to establish a simple and repeatable method for the isolation of α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin from cow’s milk while preserving their antigenicity. Fractions of α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin were salted-out using 50% ammonium sulfate from whey that was collected from cow’s milk after pH adjustment and then purified by anion-exchange chromatography with diethylaminoethyl-Sepharose Fast Flow. The antigenicity of the purified proteins was evaluated by indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The results showed that the purities of the α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin collected were 84.85 and 94.91% and the cross-reactivities of the purified proteins were 93.2 and 95.4%, respectively. Therefore, this simple and efficient strategy consisting of a one-step process for α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin is suitable for purifying the major allergens in cow’s milk. In this paper, we show that a generalized ordered space representable as the union of two closed monotonically Lindelöf subspaces is monotonically Lindelöf, which partially answers a question [7, Question 2] of Levy and Matveev. Schima superba is the dominant species of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest which has the characteristics of ecological fire prevention function. In this study, we report the complete chloroplast genome sequence of S. superba. The cp genome was 157,205 bp in length with a GC content of 37.40%, including a large single-copy (LSC 87,161 bp), a small single-copy (SSC 18,092 bp), and a pair of inverted repeats (IR 25,976 bp). The genome encoded 133 functional genes, including 88 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis showed that S. superba was closely related to Schima sinensis, Schima multibracteata, Schima crenata, and Schima remotisertata. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two trinuclear 3,5-diamio-1,2,4-triazole(Hdatz)-derived nickel(II) compounds, [Ni3(Hdatz)6(H2O)6]Br6 · 4H2O (1) and [Ni3(Hdatz)6(datz)2(H2O)4]Cl4 · 6H2O (2), are reported. Structural analyses reveal that in 1 the six Hdatz ligands are bidentate N1, N2-bridging coordination. However, the X-ray diffraction analysis shows that in 2 there are eight triazole ligands, six of which are neutral and two deprotonated. Four neutral triazoles are N1, N2-bridging and two monodentate; the deprotonated triazoles (datz) are bidentate N1, N2-bridging. The coexistence of both neutral and anionic triazole ligands as well as different coordination modes in one compound is relatively rare. Eight alkaline and alkaline-earth compounds derived from 2,4-dinitroimidazole (2,4-HDNI) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, and TG-DSC, of which K(2,4-DNI) (1), Rb(2,4-DNI)(2,4-HDNI)(H2O)2 (2), and Ba(2,4-DNI)2(H2O)4 (3) were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. All the three compounds were crystallized from water, but 1 was an anhydrate. The coordination number in 1 and 3 is 10, but in 2 is 9. The 2,4-DNI adopts either η3, η2, or η1 coordination modes depending on the metal cation. In 3, there is an inversion center located on the metal. Only in 2 does water play an important role for the construction of the structure; in 3 it is a hydrogen bonding participant. Three neodymium compounds, Nd(4DNP)3(C2H5OH)3 (1), Nd(4DNPO)3 · 7H2O (2), and {[Nd(μ-ox)(4DNPO)(H2O)4] · 4H2O}n (3) (4HDNP, 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one; 4HDNPO, 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one-N-hydroxide; ox, oxalate), were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC), and two of them by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The results revealed that in 1, the Nd(III) is surrounded by three chelating ligands and three ethanol solvent molecules. The structure of 3 could be described as 1-D chains in which Nd is bis-bidentately bridged by oxalates, together with a monodentate 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-onate N-oxide 4DNPO ligand and four water molecules as well as four uncoordinated water molecules in the crystal lattice. The origin of the oxalate anions in 3 is probably due to decomposition of the 4DNPO or its oxidation of other species. The TG-DTG (DTG, derivative thermogravimetry) and DSC analyses showed that 1 underwent a three-stage decomposition process. A kinetic equation for decomposition reaction of 2 was also obtained. The apparent activation energy (Ea) and pre-exponential factor (A) of the main decomposition reaction are 157.70 kJ mol-1 and 1011.97 s-1, respectively. Three new energetic compounds, nickel(II) 3,5-dinitro-2-pyridonate (Ni(2DNPO)2(H2O)4, 1), copper(II) 3,5-dinitro-4-pyridonate (Cu(4DNPO)2(H2O)4, 2) and cobalt(II) 3,5-dinitro-4-pyridone-N-hydroxylate ([Co(4DNPOH)2(H2O)4] · 2DMF, 3 · 2DMF), were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TG-DSC and X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are similar in structure with the metal ion coordinated by oxygen donors of four water molecules on the equatorial position and two nitrogen donors of the pyridone rings of two ligands in the axial positions. The cobalt(II) complex 3 · 2DMF is a heavily distorted octahedral geometry. The Co(II) has equatorial positions defined by oxygens of four water molecules. Its axial positions are filled with two oxygen atoms of the pyridone-N-hydroxylate of two ligands. The TG-DSC results reveal that 1 is the most stable, with higher initial thermal decomposition temperature and enthalpy. Based on the thermoanalyses, the nickel compound is a promising candidate as a component in catalyzed RDX-CMDB propellants in comparison with our earlier lead(II) analogs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Six new alkaline-earth metal compounds derived from dinitropyridone ligands (3,5-dinitropyrid-2-one, 2HDNP; 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one, 4HDNP and 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one-N-hydroxide, 4HDNPO) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and partly by powder XRD, TG-DSC and X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. The structural determination revealed that one molecule of both magnesium salts (Mg(2DNP)2 · 8H2O, (1), and Mg(4DNP)2 · 6H2O (4)) comprise one cation [Mg(H2O)6]2+ and two anions displaying centro-symmetry with the Mg atom located at the center. Two anions (and crystalline water molecules) are joined by hydrogen bonds. The barium salt Ba(4DNP)2 · 4H2O (5), is a centro-symmetric dimer with each Ba(II) being coordinated by one monodentate ligand anion, two bidentate ligand anions (different coordination pattern) and five water molecules. Another barium salt, Ba(4DNPO)2 · 6H2O (6), is a coordination polymer, the ten-coordinate (BaO10) barium environment comprising four water molecules, a pair of 4DNPOs via the pyridine-N-oxide oxygen, and one 4DNPOs from an adjacent metal atom offering chelating nitro group oxygen, bridging adjacent bariums. Abundant intermolecular hydrogen bonds link the molecules of each complex into multi-dimensional chains. The X-ray powder diffraction analysis confirmed the phase homogeneity of the polycrystalline samples. The TG-DSC results revealed that Mg(2DNP)2 · 8H2O and Ba(4DNP)2 · 6H2O each has three main weight-loss stages. Two pyrazole-based polydentate ligands, 1,3-bis(5-methyl-3-phenylpyrazol-1-yl)-propan-2-ol (Hmppzpo) and 1,3-bis(5-methyl-3-p-isopropylphenylpyrazol-1-yl)-propan-2-ol (Hmcpzpo), have been synthesized. A third ligand, 1,3-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)-propan-2-ol (Hdmpzpo), has been synthetically modified. Seven new M(II) coordination compounds of general formula M2L2X2 (M = Zn, Ni; X = NO3 or ClO4; L = dmpzpo, mppzpo or mcpzpo) or MLX (M = Pd; L = dmpzpo; X = Cl) were synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR analysis. The crystal structures of [Zn2(μ-dmpzpo-O,N,N')2(NO3)2] · 2H2O (1 · 2H2O), [Ni2(μ-dmpzpo-O,N,N')2(CH3CN)2](ClO4)2 (2) and Pd(μ-dmpzpo-N,N')Cl2 (4) were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures show that complexes 1 · 2H2O and 2 are center-symmetric dinuclear compounds, with two metal ions bridged by two alkoxo groups and each metal ion with a distorted square-pyramidal environment. Six complexes, rubidium and cesium 3,5-dinitropyrid-2-onate (2DNPO), 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-onate (4NDPO), 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one-N-hydroxylate (4DNPNO), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TG-DTG and X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. All the complexes crystallized from water and one of them was a hydrate. Rubidium 3,5-dinitropyrid-4-one-N-hydroxylate was crystallized with the 1 : 2 stoichiometry as Rb[H(4DNPNO)2] upon absorption of carbon dioxide. The structural determinations showed that the coordination sphere around a metal centre is made up of oxygen atoms and nitrogen atoms, except for the 4DNPNO complexes, where the coordination sphere accommodates exclusively oxygen atoms. The coordination numbers of the metal centers vary from 8, 10, 11 to 12, while the ligands, each employing its pyridone tautomer, link with metal cations. Bridging oxygen atoms play an important role in construction of two- and/or three-dimensional networks of these complexes. Hydrogen bonding contributes to the connectivity within a given sheet in Rb[H(4DNPNO)2]; aromatic π-π stacking interactions exist only in Cs(4DNPNO). The interactions between metal atoms and ligands are generally very weak. The organization of all layer structures appears to be governed mainly by steric effects and electrostatic forces with very little directional influence of the cations. The thermogravimetric analyses of these complexes showed the following consecutive processes: loss of NO2 groups, collapse of the pyridyl ring backbones and finally inorganic residue formation. These complexes could be used as probes in template effects of heavy alkali-metal cations in the organization of biorelevant ligands and as environment-friendly energetic catalysts in solid propellants.
