Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common skin disease. Fire needle is a method of quickly piercing the local skin lesions with red-hot needles for AV. This work aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fire needle combined with chemical peels for AV. Eight databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Internet, Wanfang, Sinomed, and VIP databases were searched to enrolled randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing fire needle therapy combined with chemical peels with chemical peels alone. The risk of bias was evaluated by the Cochrane Collaboration's tool. Statistical analysis was completed by RevMan 5.3 and Stata 14.0. Altogether 18 studies including 1213 patients were enrolled. Compared with chemical peels alone, fire needle adjuvant chemical peels therapy improved the total effective rate (RR = 1.37,95% CI [1.26,1.48], p < 0.00001) and skin lesions (MD = −2.11, 95% CI [−2.74, −1.47], p < 0.00001), and reduced the recurrence rate (RR = 0.50,95% CI [0.33,0.76], p = 0.0009).The application of fire needle was associated with few adverse reactions, all of which were well tolerated and transient. Fire needle adjuvant chemical peels therapy is effective and safe for AV. Nevertheless, more large-scale, well-designed clinical studies are warranted to provide evidence-based medical support. The nonlinear absorption of two-dimensional (2 D) Nb2CTx (MXene) nanosheets were investigated by using nanosecond Z-scan measurements in 532 nm under different laser intensities. It was found that, Nb2CTx nanosheets exhibit from saturable absorption (SA) to reverse saturable absorption (RSA). With the increase of incident intensity, a switch from SA to RSA occurs under some excitation intensities. Besides, ultrafast carrier dynamics of Nb2CTx nanosheets were also investigated by using pump-probe technique. It was found that the relaxation contains a biexponential decay process with two decay components, a fast and a slow one. Fresnel zones are helpful for obtaining a high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N)-migrated result. A migrated dip-angle gather provides a simple domain for estimating 2D Fresnel zones for 3D migration. We develop a deep-learning-based technology to automatically estimate Fresnel zones from migrated dip-angle gathers, thus avoiding the cumbersome task of manually checking and modifying the boundaries of the Fresnel zones. A pair of 1D Fresnel zones are incorporated to represent a 2D Fresnel zone in terms of the inline and crossline dip angles because it is difficult to directly extract 2D Fresnel zones from a 2D dip-angle gather. The proposed convolutional neural network (CNN) is established by modifying VGGNet. As picking boundaries of the Fresnel zones is a regression problem, we remove the last soft-max layer from the VGGNet. The last three convolution layers and a pooling layer are also removed because the feature maps are small enough. To improve the contrast and definition, we enhance the features of the reflected events in the dip-angle gather. Data normalisation is carried out to accelerate the training process using a simple-rescaling method before training the modified VGGNet. The community assembly change of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) during the reclamation of wetlands to paddy fields is mostly unknown. In this study, we applied the high-throughput sequencing technique to investigate the composition of the AMF community in natural wetland (common wild rice andLeersia hexandraSwartz) and paddy field (Asian cultivated rice), as well as the soil elements effective on the community of AMF. Soil properties including soil organic carbon, available nitrogen (AN), available phosphorus (AP), available potassium, and pH were also measured. Operational taxonomic units (OTUs) of nine genera in four orders (Glomerales, Diversisporales, Archaeosporales, andParaglomerales) of AMF were detected. All detected AMF genera were found in the wild rice wetland, while about half of the detected AMF genera were absent in paddy field; however, the absolute amount of total AMF in the paddy field and wetland was not different. Among all measured soil properties, AMF community was affected significantly by soil AN and AP. Results indicate that agricultural managements affect AMF community significantly, but do not have negative effects on the absolute amount of all the AMF genera. This report presents a rare case of a 41-year-old woman with decreased sensation and weakness of grip of her left hand. On examination she had a well-defined mass on the ulnar-volar aspect of the wrist. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a focal nodular mass in Guyon’s canal. Examination showed that the mass, 2.1 × 1.1 × 1.0 cm in size, originated in the proximal portion of the canal and was loosely associated with the tendon sheath of the flexor carpi ulnaris. The mass was removed and Guyon’s canal released. Histological examination confirmed a diagnosis of fibroma of tendon sheath. With an increasing population and rapid development of the economy and society of the Yellow River Basin region, the Yellow River is at crisis point. The discrepancy between supply and demand of water resources is a key issue. In 2000-2006, the mean annual discharge of the Yellow River entering the delta was 13.2 billion m3, a reduction of 18.6 billion m3 compared with the 1980s, and 9 billion m3 less than in the 1990s. The water requirements of various sectors are increasing. Large amounts of water essential to maintain the health of the delta ecosystem have been diverted for other users. The lower river channel is shrinking and the threat of flooding is becoming severe. Moreover, water pollution is increasing to a serious level; the river mouth ecosystem is subject to degradation. Due to overall decreased flow into the delta, and almost no flow into the delta for much of the year except in wet periods, biodiversity is threatened and there has been degradation of the ecological environment. In view of the water scarcity and variation in water supply, particularly in the context of climate change, measures need to be taken to realise sustainable water use in the Yellow River Delta region. In view of the lack of a complete index system for sustainable utilisation of regional water resources in China, this paper examines the major countermeasures for sustainable water use in the region. A rational adjustment mechanism for water prices is needed. Adjustment of agricultural infrastructure and water saving need to be directed by water prices, and thus the reasonable exploitation of groundwater must also be directed by water prices. Participation of the public is to be encouraged, with the development of a water user association that will become involved in formulating water rights, water allocation and water prices. The Yellow River Delta region in China is a land area of 1,200,000 ha with rich natural resources. Adverse environmental conditions, such as low rainfall and high salinity, promote the dominance of black locust trees for afforestation. With the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere, this forest and others throughout the world have become valued for their ability to sequester and store carbon. Forests store carbon in aboveground biomass (i.e. trees), belowground biomass (i.e. roots), soils and standing litter crop (i.e. forest floor and coarse woody debris). There are well-developed methods to sample forest ecosystems, including tree inventories that are used to quantify carbon in aboveground tree biomass. Such inventories are used to estimate the types of roundwood products removed from the forest during harvesting. Based on standard plot inventories and stem analyses, carbon sequestration estimates of trees were 222.41 t ha-1 for the Yellow River Delta region accounted for 67.12% of the whole forest. Similarly, carbon storage by herbaceous matter and soil was 0.50 and 50.34 t ha-1, respectively. The results suggest that carbon sequestration in the forest ecosystem was performed by most of the forest, which plays an increasingly important role in sequestering carbon as the stand grows. In this study, we selected walnut shell-derived pristine HC (pHC) and two modified derivatives obtained by oxidative and alkali treatments (designated mHC-O and mHC-A, respectively) to investigate the passivation performance of Pb(II) in contaminated soil. The yields of mHC-A and mHC-O were 70.58% and 95.38%, respectively, after posttreatment. According to the XPS, FTIR, and acidity titration results, the amounts of the three major OCGs (i.e. C−O, C=O, and O−C=O) all increased after H2O2 oxidation. Moreover, chemical modification fundamentally changed the structural characteristics of pHC. DTPA extraction tests indicated that the extractable Pb content after 30 days of incubation decreased by 13.60%, 19.32% and 14.53% at 7% (w/w) doses of HC, mHC-O and mHC-A, respectively, compared to that of the control. Furthermore, mHC-O was superior to pHC and mHC-A in terms of Pb passivation efficiency, which was consistent with the results of BCR sequential extraction and leaching tests using three root exudates. For mHC-O at the 7% dose, the contents of bioavailable Pb in the contaminated soil were 19.85 and 8.83 mg/kg based on DTPA leaching and BCR analysis, respectively, while they were 0.616, 0.564 and 0.07 mg/kg in the root exudate leaching tests of Ophiopogon japonicus, radish and spinach, respectively, indicating that the root exudate leaching method lowered the bioavailable Pb content compared to the DTPA and BCR methods. AbstractThis study aimed to establish a mechanical model for curved tempered vacuum glazing (CTVG) based on thin shells theory. By utilizing the windshield of a specific vehicle as a research object, the ANSYS mechanical simulation model for CTVG was developed. Additionally, CTVG samples were prepared and subjected to wind load performance testing. The simulation results demonstrated that the maximum support stress sustained by the CTVG reached 55.807 MPa, accompanied by a maximum glass deformation of 27.756 μm, both of which satisfied the safety requirements. Furthermore, the analysis of the mechanical model revealed that the maximum surface stress of the CTVG under wind load was directly proportional to the square of the wind speed. The CTVG was capable of withstanding a maximum wind pressure of 1.99 kPa and a maximum wind speed of 56.427 m·s−1, and would be safely deployed at a vehicle speed of 203 km·h−1. The wind load performance test results indicated that the observed trend in the maximum surface stress of the CTVG closely aligned with the theoretically predicted values, deviating within a range of 2.7 MPa. This correspondence signified the reliability and validation of our developed mechanical model. Consequently, this research served as a foundational reference for the advancement and utilization of CTVG products, which would play a beneficial role in reducing vehicle energy consumption when used as automotive window glass in the future. Conventional residual static corrections determine the residual statics (time shifts) using common mid-point (CMP) gathers to estimate and correct anomalies induced by the near-surface. These time shifts disregard the phase errors existing in the data, which will reduce the resolution of the stacked image. Further errors result when reflection events inCMP gathers do not exhibit hyperbolic moveout. In order to solve these problems, we propose a robust surface-consistent residual phase correction method that simultaneously resolves both time shifts and constant phase rotations based on migrated gathers. The surface-consistent residual statics and phase are obtained from the migrated gathers expressed in terms of shot and receiver locations.Wemodified the standard technique of estimating the time shift corrections to include a surfaceconsistent constant phase rotation term. The proposed dual parameter algorithm (time shift and constant phase rotation) proved on a synthetic example that it was superior to conventional residual statics for improving the coherence of trace gathers. The computational effort can be reduced by generating migrated gathers and estimating the dual parameters in a spatially varying time window. In this article, Chinese quince (Cydonia oblongaMiller) freshness determination method was investigated using surface acoustic wave resonator, electronic nose, and surface acoustic wave resonator combined with electronic nose. Human sensory evaluation and weight loss index were examined as freshness reference. Results indicated that quince freshness decreased during storage procedure. Surface acoustic wave resonator output frequency and electronic nose measurement data stochastic resonance signal-to-noise ratio Eigen values characterized quince quality under different storage time. Freshness predictive models were developed using surface acoustic wave resonator frequency, electronic nose signal-to-noise ratio spectrum Eigen values, and their hybrid model. Validating experiments results demonstrated that the hybrid predictive model presented higher predicting accuracy (R2= 0.987) than other two models. Coarse-grained reconfigurable arrays (CGRAs) have shown potential for application in embedded systems in recent years. Numerous reconfigurable processing elements (PEs) in CGRAs provide flexibility while maintaining high performance by exploring different levels of parallelism. However, a difference remains between the CGRA and the application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). Some application domains, such as software-defined radios (SDRs), require flexibility with performance demand increases. More effective CGRA architectures are expected to be developed. Customisation of a CGRA according to its application can improve performance and efficiency. This study proposes an application-specific CGRA architecture template composed of generic PEs (GPEs) and special PEs (SPEs). The hardware of the SPE can be customised to accelerate specific computational patterns. An automatic design methodology that includes pattern identification and application-specific function unit generation is also presented. A mapping algorithm based on ant colony optimisation is provided. Experimental results on the SDR target domain show that compared with other ordinary and application-specific reconfigurable architectures, the CGRA generated by the proposed method performs more efficiently for given applications. The effect of acidic pH conditions on the physiological response of three typical freshwater algae, Chlorella vulgaris, Microcystis aeruginosa and Scenedesmus quadricauda, was investigated in this study. The results of the cultivation experiment indicated that the mortality of the three algae in the logarithmic growth phase increased with increasing exposure time and acidity under acute acidic conditions. The tolerance of S. quadricauda was stronger than that of the other two species under long-term (6 h) exposure to the same acidity; in contrast, C. vulgaris exhibited the greatest tolerance under short-term exposure conditions. The decrease in chlorophyll a (Chl a) content indicated that the photosynthesis of algae was inhibited under acid stress and that the algae could not continue to grow normally. This was consistent with the changes in lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzyme activity, which were reflected by the malondialdehyde (MDA) content and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity under acid stress, respectively. The results of this study demonstrated that when exposed to acute acidic conditions, the tolerance of three typical freshwater algae to acidity was significantly different. Belt dryer is commonly used in the production of the dried aquatic feed. Poor airflow distribution during the aquatic feed drying process leads to moisture content variation that could be lead to high energy consumption and poor feed quality. A newly designed belt dryer with improved drying efficiency was used to study airflow distribution. In order to analyze airflow distribution inside the dryer, a model for a new belt dryer was established. Airflow distribution under five different feed thicknesses (20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm) were simulated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques and verified by experimental data. A finite volume method with porous media formulation was used to simulate airflow distribution inside the dryer. The experimental results showed that there was good consistency between the experimental and simulated values of airflow velocity. The airflow velocity on the feed layer range from 0.28 m/s to 0.98 m/s with a standard deviation of up to 0.17 m/s. Airflow distribution inside the dryer was affected by the feed thickness and air space size. When the feed thickness was 40 mm, the uniformity of the airflow velocity at the surfaces of the feed can reach the best results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rice cultivation is widely used to improve saline-sodic soils in Northeast China. However, the chronological effect of rice cultivation on soil fungal communities has not been studied. Therefore, this study investigated the variation of soil fungal communities in different rice cultivation years. Compared with the blank area, the rice cultivation for 20 years significantly decreased the pH and electrical conductivity by 16.6% and 70.1%, while significantly increased the soil organic carbon and available phosphorus by 90.6% and 17.4 times, respectively. Meanwhile, the relative abundance of Ascomycota and Basidiomycota significantly decreased and increased after rice cultivation, respectively. Moreover, some genera of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), e.g. Corymbiglomus, Glomus, and Rhizophagus, and pathogenic fungi (Thanatephorus cucumeris) disappeared, while Dentiscutata (one genus of AMF) appeared after rice cultivation. In addition, the fungal richness significantly increased when the rice cultivation less than 15 years and the fungal communities were similar between 15 and 20 years. Our findings showed that rice cultivation improved the nutrient availability and reduced salinity-alkalinity stress of sodic soils. In this study, the high-temperature oxidation behaviour of arc-sprayed Ni–Cr coatings with high Cr contents of 30, 45 and 50 at.% was investigated in comparison with reference AISI 1020 steel. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy were utilised to characterise the oxide scales. The oxidation resistance of the steel substrates was found to be enhanced after the application of the Ni–Cr coatings since the oxidation kinetics followed the parabolic law. In addition, the oxidation rate of Ni–50Cr coating was 56.5% lower than that of Ni–30Cr coating, indicating that the oxidation performance of coatings was improved with increasing Cr content. The oxide layers of Ni–Cr coating were found to be a double layer structure protecting the substrate from severely oxidation, which composed of a top layer of NiO and a basal layer of Cr2O3 and NiCr2O4. The surface of Ni–30Cr coating contained lots of multi-angle NiO crystals, while the surface of Ni–50Cr coating contained a dense Cr2O3 structure, suggesting that the growth of NiO crystals was limited due to the large amount of Cr-rich oxides. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a disease that causes joint destruction and bone erosion, is related to osteoclast activity. RA is generally treated with methotrexate (MTX). In this study, a MTX-Alendronate (ALN) conjugate was synthesized and characterized. The conjugate dramatically inhibited osteoclast formation and bone resorption compared with MTX and ALN used alone or in combination. Due to the characteristics of ALN, the MTX-ALN conjugate can adhere to the exposed bone surface and enhance drug accumulation in the pathological region for targeted therapy against osteoclastogenesis. Additionally, MTX was rapidly released in the presence of lysozyme under mildly acidic conditions, similar to inflammatory tissue and osteoclast-surviving conditions, which contributes to inflammatory inhibition; this was confirmed by the presence of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) exhibits anisotropic and hydrostatic pressure-dependent mechanical characteristics during processing. However, none of the existed material models is capable of describing the mechanical properties of the crystal. Thus, a new constitutive model, which combines the anisotropic elastic and pressure-dependent plastic model has been proposed in this paper. In addition, the tensile stress failure criterion is adopted as the fracture criterion of KDP crystal. Subroutine of the new material model is programmed and integrated into the commercial finite element software LS-DYNA. On the basis of that, the unknown material parameters of KDP are successfully identified with the aid of the nanoindentation/scratch technique and finite-element simulation. Finally, 2-D and 3-D cutting simulations applying the new model are performed to investigate the influence of cutting parameters on the brittle ductile transition depth and cutting force. The effect of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on nanoparticle toxicity to plants is poorly understood. In this study, tannic acid (TA) was selected as a DOM surrogate to explore the mechanisms of neodymium oxide NPs (Nd2O3NPs) phytotoxicity to pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima). The results from the tested concentrations showed that 100 mg L−1Nd2O3NPs were significantly toxic to pumpkin in term of fresh biomass, and the similar results from the bulk particles and the ionic treatments were also evident. Exposure to 100 mg L−1of Nd2O3NPs and BPs in 1/5 strength Hoagland’s solution not only significantly inhibited pumpkin growth, but also decreased the S, Ca, K and Mg levels in plant tissues. However, 60 mg L−1TA significantly moderated the observed phytotoxicity, decreased Nd accumulation in the roots, and notably restored S, Ca, K and Mg levels in NPs and BPs treated pumpkin. TA at 60 mg L−1increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in both roots (17.5%) and leaves (42.9%), and catalase (CAT) activity (243.1%) in the roots exposed to Nd2O3NPs. This finding was confirmed by the observed up-regulation of transcript levels of SOD and CAT in Nd2O3NPs treated pumpkin analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. These results suggest that TA alleviates Nd2O3BPs/NPs toxicity through alteration of the particle surface charge, thus reducing the contact and uptake of NPs by pumpkin. In addition, TA promotes antioxidant enzymatic activity by elevating the transcript levels of genes involved in ROS scavenging. Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is an emerging, non-invasive, multi-index, simple preparation of sample process analytical technique suitable for cotton quality assessment. Cotton impurities not only affect the quality of seed cotton and lint cotton but also the quality of textiles. These impurities can occur during harvest and in the stage of postharvest handing, especially during pack house operations. In such a global and competitive marketplace, it is necessary to explore rapid, accurate, and precise cotton quality measurement techniques which require less expensive instrumentation, exhibit increased flexibility versatility, and perform both laboratory measurements and non-laboratory (at-line or field) measurements. Some reports have been published on the use of NIRS technology for inspecting cotton impurity contents, micronaire, and cotton fiber quality. This article condenses a representative selection of recent research in order to observe the significant progresses in how NIRS technology is applied to inspection of cotton impurity and cotton fiber. The aim of this pilot study is to find discriminating signals from the patient's congestive heart failure (HF) caused by coronary artery disease (CAD) through a non-target metabolomics method and test their usefulness in progress of human HF diseases. Multivariate data analysis was used to identify the discriminating signals. Interestingly, 12 metabolites contributing to the complete separation of HF from matched CAD were identified. Metabolic pathways including free fatty acids, sphingolipids and amino acid derivatives were found to be disturbed in HF patients compared with CAD patients. The purpose of this study was to formulate a reservoir-type transdermal delivery system (TDS) for 2,3,5,6-tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) to enable the delivery of a sufficient dose through human skin to achieve an effective therapeutic plasma concentration. To improve the penetration of TMP in the reservoir-type TDS, several chemical penetration enhancers were investigated using in vitro rat dorsal skin permeation studies. Eucalyptus oil was found to enhance the permeation of TMP to the greatest extent, with the optimal concentration being 5% and the flux being 542.6 ± 49.7 μg/cm2/h, which was 4.5-fold greater than control with no enhancer ( p < 0.01). The flux of the optimized reservoir-type TDS permeated through the human epidermis was 346.0 ± 27.7 μg/cm2/h. Based on the in vitro human skin permeation flux and the pharmacokinetics parameters observed, the clinical surface area of the TDS patch was predicted to be 20 cm2. The in vivo study conducted in rabbits showed that the TMP TDS patch containing 5% eucalyptus oil had a more favorable pharmacokinetic profile, with a lower Cmax and prolonged Tmax and mean residence time than that observed with the oral administration of TMP.
