Guided by the theoretical assumption that college life is a culturally situated, symbolic process of interaction between students and various others, this qualitative study attempts to explore how minority students' home culture, which is different from the dominant college culture, helps them make sense of their college experiences. The respondent interviewing method was used to obtain Hispanic students' responses to questions that allow them to share their experiences, which were centered around student-professor interactions. A total of 112 Hispanic college students from a comprehensive university in South Texas participated in the study. Results confirmed the significance of examining minority students' college experiences in light of their home culture as they indicated that student experiences were strongly influenced by their Hispanic cultural values. Paul Celan is present on the Internet not only where knowledge of his work might still be expected—in poetry, music, and visual art. Celan references can also be found in song lyrics and album titles of various bands, crime novels, and fantasy prose. He seems to provide users on Twitter and other social media the material for their account names, and companies not only in German-speaking countries use his poems for their names. This article provides an overview of these references that helps us understand the status of Celan's vocabulary in the context of current appropriations. Heritage responsibility in cultural communication has gotten minimal scholarly study and may face additional challenges as a result of discourses of heritage dissonance. Through the lens of the combination of critical heritage studies and communication science on a sample of residents in the heritage site of Genglubu, Tanmen, China, this study critically analyses the heterogeneity of residents' heritage responsibilities in the process of heritage cultural communication (divided into two dimensions: environmental and psychological), under the interaction between the official discourse and vernacular discourse. Combined with 284 respondents' questionnaires and 65 in-depth interviews, this study has shown that: (a) residents were exposed to Genglubu heritage culture primarily through communication space, followed by media space and physical space; (b) four groups of residents were identified using two-step cluster analysis. In order of numbers, they were heritage value approvers, indifferents, qualified heritage protectors, and active heritage protectors. We argue that heritage practices dominated by authorised heritage discourse (AHD) suppress community voices. Although most Tanmen residents recognise heritage value, they fail to benefit from it, resulting in a lack of heritage responsibility. Ancient Japanese music books have been quite effective in preserving the way the Chinese culture of time evolved dynamically abroad. Studying the relationship of music and dance with the times and festivals revealed in Japanese music books can help restore the context of the rituals and customs of music lost in its Chinese homeland. Japanese Gagaku has succeeded in passing down the seasonal quality of ancient Chinese banquet music which echoed the cycle of times, seasons and phenology and produced a seasonal regularity under which the music corresponded to the season. Some more symbolic Chinese music and dance were selected as the standard music for festivals such as the Double Third Festival, the Double Seventh Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival. The many aspects of the Chinese culture of time that were accepted by Japan were threedimensional: they included not only the calendar, solar terms, festivals, and other points of time and knowledge of the seasons, but also cultural customs such as sacrificial ceremonies, music and dance, literary narratives, meat and drink, and sports and games. The culture of time that originated from the Han and Tang dynasties not only sustains East Asian countries' identification with natural laws and time, but also shapes their societies' shared aesthetic perception of nature, time, and life. This study examined the recent issue and perception towards Korean wave on media coverage in Republic of Korea. Korean wave (Hallyu) that refers to a preference of Korean cultural contents, including drama, movie, and music, has been expanded throughout several regions initiated from Asian countries. In order to understand the global cultural phenomenon in a changing media environment, it is necessary to continuously review issues and changes of Korean wave. To investigate recent perception on the media, news data regarding Korean wave were analyzed by applying text-mining. Results showed that issues of news of Korean wave changed according to the social circumstances. For instance, the issue of favoured cultural contents, such as Korean idol "BTS" and the movie "Parasite," appeared as associated words. In 2020, it was found that COVID-19 was one of the frequently mentioned words related to Korean wave. This paper provides the recent case of cultural phenomenon using quantitative method. This study examined the term oplakvane in Bulgarian discourse. It refers to a communication practice - similar to complaining - and a range of associated cultural meanings for ways to construct a socio-economic and political reality. Data for this study included naturally occurring talk recorded during social events, interview responses from 50 participants, and a range of media postings from newspapers and online sources. These were examined through the lens of ethnography of communication and studies of terms for talk. By examining the term's context, potency, use, messages, meanings, and enactments, a larger cultural landscape is made available, illustrating how oplakvane not only describes negative talk, but references a communication ritual that serves to: (1) release the frustrations of everyday life, (2) celebrate and reinforce feelings of fate and despair, and (3) identify and locate a national Bulgarian character. The recent prominence of culturally rich visuals for effective global communication and establishing brands of organizations cannot be denied. This inquest observed how Pakistan universities used their homepages to demonstrate culture through a content analysis of 1064 pictures from 100 top universities. The researcher tried to take a stance on visual presentation of cultural aspects by using Hofstede’s cultural dimension theory, and evaluated the impact of cultural elements in choosing pictures as part of web design and marketing strategy. Results indicated that faculty in groups doing academic and official activities were the predominant visual element, and websites mostly marketed faculty. Choice of pictures was positively correlated with Hofstede’s scores on power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance and indulgence, but a different trend was observed for masculinity and pragmatism. Findings suggest that institutions should ameliorate their web marketing according to cultural needs of local as well as international students, and further research is needed. Among the Ngə̂mbà, a Bantu-Grassfields people of Western Cameroon, personal names are alternative forms of narratives that represent past experiences and conflicts encountered by the name giver. These are central to the self-definition and future expectations of the name bearer as well as in re-negotiating locally relevant principles of values. This article explores Ngə̂mbà personal names as communicative acts that mirror a wide range of human experiences within the Ngə̂mbà sociocultural context. In this article, we trace the stories behind these names, investigate their communicative and socio-onomastic significance and analyse their ethnopragmatic meanings. The study discovers that Ngə̂mbà personal names do not only index individual or collective identities and belongings but also embed significant historical resonances and cultural assumptions that reflect cruel and sometimes pleasant personal memories, unresolved tension and promising futures. Drawing on a social constructionist approach and Philipsen's theoretical framework of cultural communication, this study examines how rural–urban migrant workers in China construct the meaning of home in their communication about migration. Interviews with migrant workers and participant observation of their everyday conversations reveal that migrant workers frequently evoke a cultural code of home attachment and actively construct a political code of displacement to construe their prolonged liminality between the city and the countryside. Since the 1990s, and currently in state discourses of free-market integration, ruling Southeast Asian elites have deployed the narrative of Asian cultural ascendance – ‘Asian values’ discourse — as an explanation for Southeast Asian developmental exceptionalism. Ruling elites continue to push for a social consensus that mobilizes neoliberal capitalist subject-formation as the proper postcolonial nation-building teleology. However, my reading of the widely performed contemporary plays, Family, and Ang Tau Mui, A Modern Woman by highly acclaimed Malaysian-Chinese playwright, Leow Puay Tin, examines how the Asian values discourse is interrogated and disrupted through subaltern historiographical interventions that remember colonial-capitalist subjugation, social mobility failure and class fragmentation that are otherwise evacuated in the dominant retelling of Southeast Asian ethnic Chinese success stories. This paper posits that social networking can take a central role in learning in informal environments such as museums, libraries and galleries. It argues that social media offers young people agency previously unavailable in informal learning environments in order to explore complex responses to and participation with cultural content. The paper will consider transformations in digital literacy and the processes by which young learners can connect with knowledge in informal learning environments to become active cultural participants. Marx and Engels foresaw the approach of globalization and world history, and addressed the issue of cultural conflicts in a globalized era quite a long time ago. From the perspective of Marxist philosophy of culture, globalization, as the integration, interconnection and interdependence of human societies, will exert a twofold impact on culture. Contradictions between globalism and nationalism, idealism and utilitarianism, elitism and populism lie at the heart of the conflict between globalization and localization.
