Research in the field of History of Education has experienced a remarkable increase in recent decades. Resulting publications are referenced in generalist databases that do not catalogue academic works according to the specific characteristics of History of Education. Seeking to give response to this bibliographic gap, we are developing a database catered for historians of education that aims to map out present, past, and future research. Conceived within the framework of Digital Humanities/Digital History, Hecumen is being designed, with the aid of Artificial Intelligence, as an open access finding aid that permits (1) conducting specific and multilevel complex engine searches, (2) having a panoramic view of publications; (3) mapping out relevant/missing areas of research, and, ultimately, (4) keeping up to date with the research produced by historians of education. This paper aims to establish a new statistical framework for measuring global flow of funds (GFF) based on its inherent mechanisms. It advances a previous theoretical discussion and develops a practical operational statistical matrix. Based on theoretical and practical possibilities the paper gets existing data from the International Investment Position, the Coordinated Direct Investment Survey, the Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey, and International Banking Statistics are integrated for measuring GFF. The main outcome is a prototype GFF matrix that includes stock data geographically disaggregated by country/region and selected financial instruments. The paper presents a GFF Matrix compiled with the pattern of 'Country vis-à-vis Country' matrix, and through using the GFF matrix to analyze the basic status, mutual relationship and existing problems between China, Japan, and the United States in the external financial positions. This paper considers the strategies for working with different data sources for identifying technology trends. For this purpose, a comparative analysis of technology monitoring results using various data collections (scientific publications, patents, media, foresight projects, conferences, international projects, dissertations and presentations) is conducted. Guidance on how to use them to ensure the greatest output is presented. Green energy is taken as an example for comparative analysis and provides improvements in reducing inputs (time) and increasing output (coverage). The factors that affect data processing results are considered and discussed to more efficiently use quantitative and qualitative procedures for identifying, correcting and updating technology trends. The results of the study can be interesting for government bodies financing foresight studies and setting priorities in science and technology, for companies scanning disruptive innovations in the markets to support their corporate strategies and academic community developing the methodology for technology trends monitoring. A mail survey of Fortune 1000 firms reveals considerable variation in the designs of their marketing information systems, yet a uniformly high level of sophistication in regards to use of interactive systems and decision modeling. Many of the data-gathering and storage components of these systems are not computerized. The best decision support is at the upper and middle management level for planning and controlling the firm's product offering. The aim of this study was to identify the data collection properties of cricket coaches, using the first stage of the 4Cs Competitive Intelligence (CI) process model of Weiss as framework. Semi-structured interviews were performed with high-level cricket coaches in South Africa. Content analysis was performed by developing a codebook through the creation of theory and data-driven codes with ATLAS.TITM computer assisted qualitative data analysis software. Codes were thematised into the what, where, who and how of data collection as well as challenges cricket coaches face. Overall, coaches indicated that they make use of various sources of information on competitors, own team and the environment. Data collection is usually performed by numerous persons within the team set-up and a variety of information formats are utilized. The main findings of the study indicated that easy available sources are not effectively utilized, data collection processes are not performed in a structured manner and coaches need skill development regarding data collection and analysis. Furthermore, the lack of technology as well as the absence of a person who can collect data and a shortage of skills by the person who is responsible for data collection, are the main challenges coaches face. This study investigates data sources for Business Intelligence solutions, which provide a foundation for holistic analyses, optimization, and forecasting of electrical power consumption within Facility Management for retail facilities networks. A multiple case study among Polish subsidiaries of Sweden, France, and UK-based companies along with a domestic Polish has been conducted. A key challenge in benefit–risk (B-R) assessment of a medication is the multitude of data sources and the changing quality and relevance of these sources during the medication lifecycle. At the time of regulatory approval, B-R assessment is largely based on data from controlled clinical trials and preclinical studies. Following approval, data informing B-R accumulate in a broader, larger sample of subjects in clinical practice and post-approval studies, and it can be challenging to know how to appropriately aggregate and compare these datasets. In this article, we critically evaluate different data sources that may be used in B-R assessment, including controlled trials, observational data, and spontaneous reports. We demonstrate how these sources may be used to create an effects table (summary of evidence of key efficacy and safety data), using dabigatran, a nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC), as a case example. We discuss how to compare quantitatively across studies when populations are disparate (baseline characteristics, susceptibility to adverse effects) or when there are data from multiple sources. We also discuss future directions of B-R assessment using emerging data sources and methods and the potential to use mechanistic insights from preclinical and clinical studies to support B-R assessment. Central to reaching peace and settlement in Northern Ireland was a sequence of British--Irish intergovernmental discussions and negotiations, dating from the beginning of the 1980s. British and Irish state cooperation and intervention has remained central to the stability of the settlement reached in 1998. The motives of state actors, however, have been unclear, and the role of the state in the political process has been the subject of some scholarly controversy. This paper looks at the types of evidence that can help to resolve such questions. It focuses on the value of elite interviews, arguing that they can constitute an important and irreplaceable body of evidence when used critically, but it also highlights the risks of excessive reliance on this type of source. It goes on to describe a major research project in University College Dublin whose aim was to record the experiences and interpretations of the actors who engaged in British–Irish negotiations over the last four decades. It discusses the resulting elite interviews and witness seminars and the methodological and ethical difficulties encountered. Data about deliveries, births, mothers and newborn babies are collected extensively to monitor the health and care of mothers and babies during pregnancy, delivery and the post-partum period, but there is no common approach in Europe. We analysed the problems related to using the European data for international comparisons of perinatal health. We made an inventory of relevant data sources in 25 European Union (EU) member states and Norway, and collected perinatal data using a previously defined indicator list. The main sources were civil registration based on birth and death certificates, medical birth registers, hospital discharge systems, congenital anomaly registers, confidential enquiries and audits. A few countries provided data from routine perinatal surveys or from aggregated data collection systems. The main methodological problems were related to differences in registration criteria and definitions, coverage of data collection, problems in combining information from different sources, missing data and random variation for rare events. Collection of European perinatal health information is feasible, but the national health information systems need improvements to fill gaps. To improve international comparisons, stillbirth definitions should be standardised and a short list of causes of fetal and infant deaths should be developed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Archival data are considered useful for identifying problem areas, assessing levels of problems, and evaluation of interventions. However, few publications describe the process of collecting them and related potential obstacles. For the Safer California Universities study, archival data is expected to play a major role in identifying problem settings and the extent of alcohol use-related problems on the campuses. The project has experienced a number of obstacles in collecting these data. This article discusses strategies for collecting data, obstacles related to collecting them, solutions to these obstacles, and communication with partners on the campuses. We describe a "research to practice" method by which public health policymakers and HIV prevention service providers can integrate the findings of national surveillance with other sources of public health data. We suggest developing a comprehensive risk profile, based on multiple sources of data, to inform the selection and implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions (EBIs) for African-American women. In England, the government has pursued an agenda for a more sustainable built environment for over a decade. Yet it is difficult to know how much progress has been made. This article presents the findings of research that attempts to quantify and describe the extent of sustainable building in England. It reviews government-produced statistics and reports, data on sustainability accreditations, suppliers' information and existing research. It finds that no precise data exist on the extent of sustainable building, but there is a wealth of qualitative information on buildings and projects. The article describes the main sustainability features found in buildings and development projects in England, and presents a categorisation of eight sustainable building types. The article concludes by noting that the information base available to undertake this review is inadequate, and makes some suggestions about how it could be improved. It then reports that, as a proportion of the total building stock, the number of sustainable buildings is very small and that this is unlikely to change until building regulations and planning policies become more stringent. This article presents information on the findings of a recent study describing the incomparability of China's intercensal data, by providing additional insights and new data. The first half of the paper is devoted to the nature of various sources of urban population data that tend to have different emphases, which previous studies have not discussed. In the second half, drawbacks of National Bureau of Statistics NBS) urban population data are analyzed followed by a critical assessment of NBS adjustments of urbanization levels for intercensal years. To resolve problems of intercensal data incomparability, a different time series of data on levels of China's urbanization is presented. presented. The paper concludes with some suggestions for the enhancement of the quality of China's urban population statistics in the future.
