Lung cancer is the deadliest type of cancer in the world, and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is one of the most fatal types of relevant tumors. The aim of this report was to describe the status of a patient presenting with progressive weakness, who did not have a previous medical history. Clinical examination revealed bilateral edema of the lower limbs. Lab results exhibited severe hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis. physical examination showed elevated blood pressure. Imaging revealed a large mass with necrosis. Bronchoscopy was done and biopsy pathology showed SCLC. The patient underwent chemotherapy with cisplatin and etoposide. Following SCLC, the patient developed a type of paraneoplastic syndrome called Cushing syndrome. He experienced a severe decrease in saturation in the second session of chemotherapy and eventually died. With respect to the fact that most paraneoplastic syndromes are associated with poor response to treatment, high clinical suspicion is essential for the rapid diagnosis of these syndromes to improve outcomes.

Various therapeutic activities of Pistacia atlantica var. mutica such as hypoglycemic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity were shown by several studies. Regarding these therapeutic activities, and due to advantages of nanoparticles for drug delivery systems, the anti-colitic effects of P. atlantica var. mutica oleoresin nanoparticles were studied in acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. Nanoparticles were synthesized by using ethanol and acetone as solvent. Nano precipitation method was also used for nanoparticles synthesis. P. atlantica oleoresin was orally administered to acetic acid-induced colitis rats at the doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg. Then rats were killed and their colons were dissected away for histopathological and macroscopic tests. Statistical results showed homogeneity and uniformity in size and size distribution of fabricated nanoparticles. Psychotic disorders are a group of severe mental disorders that can remarkably affect brain functions by altering beliefs and perceptions. There are different types of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, delusional disorder, paraphrenia, etc. The symptoms of a psychotic disorder include delusions, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, unusual behavior, altered feelings, and so on. Symptoms may vary from person to person and change with time. Antipsychotic drugs and psychotherapy can be used in the treatment of psychotic disorders. In this case report, we describe a 39-year-old woman who suffered from methamphetamine- induced delusional parasitosis.

The TP53 gene is one of the most frequently mutated genes amongst human malignancies, particularly TP53 codon 72 polymorphism. Furthermore, an association between the TP53 codon 72 variants and prostate cancer has been reported in several studies. Although some studies have indicated an association between the TP53 Arg/Arg variant and an increased risk for prostate cancer, other studies have shown a positive correlation between the TP53 Pro/Pro genotype instead. Therefore, to clarify if this polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in Iranian men, we conducted a case-control study of 40 sporadic prostate cancer patients and 80 benign prostate hyperplasia cases.The TP53 codon 72 was genotyped using an allele specific PCR.A significant association between the TP53 codon 72 genotype and prostate cancer risk was found (OR = 6.8, 95% CI = [1.8-25.1], P = 0.005). However, the results of this study did not support an association between age, the Gleason score nor TP53 genotype at codon 72 in prostate cancer patients.TP53 codon 72 polymorphism may have a great impact in the development of prostate cancer.
