Background and Aim: Evaluating and improving the employees’ quality of work life is one of the most important responsibilities of managers in each organization. The aim of this study was to design and prepare a questionnaire for evaluating the residents’ quality of work life and checking the validity and reliability of this tool. Materials and Methods: We collected the questionnaires which were used for the employees’ quality of work life, and designed by Delphi method a comprehensive questionnaire for measuring residents’ quality of work life. This questionnaire was distributed two times with one-week interval between 14 residents of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and then the validity and reliability was assessed by α cronbach model. We used the 5 experts in the field of health care management, medical education and health economics to determine the validity of quality of working life questionnaire. The classification of cronbachchr('39')s α for intra-rater reliability was: very good (0.9-1), good (0.8- 0.89), average (0.7- 0.79), bad (0.6-0.69) and very bad (under 0.59). Results: The results of αcronbach test for questions reliability and the result α cronbach test for internal consistency of each class of question indicated the rather high reliability and validity of these questions. Conclusion: Regarding to the results of α cronbach test, we can deduce that our designed questionnaire encompass have satisfied validity and reliability and it can be used for future studies.

One issue that has received less attention in present health care protocols is pediatric palliative care (PPC), which is an approach to care starting with the diagnosis of life-threatening diseases in children. It embraces physical, emotional and spiritual elements. Ethical issues are major concerns in today’s pediatric health care guidelines and must be considered by residents and attending physicians in this field. The present study was conducted in Namazi Teaching Hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Forty-eight out of 92 pediatricians were enrolled in this research, including 8 attendings, 6 fellows, and 34 residents. The study questionnaire consisted of 66 items. It was built based on previous reliable and validated questionnaire; also the calculated Cranach’s alpha was 0.815. Data were analyzed and presented by mean ± SD and percentage. While seventy-five percent of the participants reported involvement in pediatric palliative care, fifty-six percent did not acknowledge any information about the subject. More than half of the participants perceived the pediatric palliative care services in Namazi Hospital as somewhat or completely satisfactory. Furthermore, thirty-five percent of the applicants stated that they encounter an ethical problem with regard to PPC once a week. There are many challenges to providing decent palliative care for children, including symptom controlling, shifting to end of life care, background dissimilarities of patients, financial restrictions, and acceptance of death. Our applicants believed that offering psycho-spiritual support was the most important challenge in PPC. However, further investigations are needed to determine other requirements for providing a comprehensive guideline on PPC.

Nowadays, educators pay attention to emotional intelligence which is defined as the ability to monitor and explain one’s own and other’s emotional experience and feelings to differentiate between them as well as applying necessary information for determining thoughts and actions. The goal of this study was to determine emotional intelligence of medical residents of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. By means of two stage cluster sampling, 98 medical residents of Tehran University of Medical Sciences were selected. Participants were asked to fill valid and reliable Persian version of Emotional Quotient inventory (EQ-i) questionnaire which had been developed due to Bar-On model. Seventy two filled-up questionnaires were returned (RR=73%). Mean EI score of all participants was 319.94 ± 32.4. Mean EI score was not significantly different between male and female also, single and married participants. EI did not differ significantly in residents in respect to their discipline. Mean responsibility subscale differ significantly between male and female participants (P=0.008). Multiple regression analysis showed that happiness subscale is a predictive factor for total EI score (B=-0.32, P=0.009). Responsibility subscale differed significantly between men and women participants and happiness subscale was a good predictor for emotional intelligence score. These factors should be considered in education of medical residents.

مقدمه و اهداف: امروزه پزشکی مبتنی بر شواهد بعنوان يک رويکرد نوين و قابل اتکا در علوم پزشکی پذيرفته شده و جهت ارتقاء کيفيت مراقبت‌های بالينی بيماران مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. هدف اين مطالعه تعيين ميزان آگاهی و نگرش دستياران بالينی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کرمان در مورد مفهوم رويکرد پزشکی مبتنی بر شواهد و بررسی ميزان کاربرد آن بود. روش کار: مطالعه به روش مقطعی و از طريق پرسشنامه‌ای که روايی و پايايی آن تاييد شده بود، در آذر ماه سال 1388 انجام گرفت. داده‌ها با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS مورد تجزيه وتحليل قرار گرفتند. نتايج: از مجموع 94 دستيار شرکت کننده در مطالعه 3/55% مرد، ميانگين سن شرکت کنندگان 7/32 سال و متوسط زمان اتمام تحصيلات پزشکی عمومی آن‌ها 6/5 سال بود. 3/83 % شرکت کنندگان معتقد بودند که استفاده از EBM درمراقبت از بيماران مفيد است، اما فقط 3/5% آن‌ها اظهار کردند که در بيش از نيمی از کارهای بالينی خود از رويکرد پزشکی مبتنی بر شواهد استفاده می‌کنند. 3/88% شرکت کنندگان به پيشرفت در زمينه EBM علاقمند بودند. منبع کسب اطلاعات برای تصميم گيری بالينی، در6/59% دستياران شرکت کننده کتاب، در 4/41% تجارب کلينيکی توام با کتب درسی و تنها در 2/19% آن‌ها مقالات بود. نتيجه‌گيری: نتايج نشان داد که دستياران دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کرمان شناخت کمی از پزشکی مبتنی بر شواهد دارند. لذا لزوم برنامه ريزی منسجم در زمينه آموزش پزشکی مبتنی بر شواهد و کاربرد عملی آن احساس می‌شود.
