溶融希土類塩化物の構造解析の二環としてDyCla単独浴およびDyCl3-NaCl等モル混合浴についてX線回折実験を行った。DyC13単独浴中には八面体型の錯陰イオン[DyCl6]3-が存在し,この錯イオンを構造単位とする二量体あるいは三量体などのクラスター状の多量体が存在する可能性を推測した。また,混合浴についても同様の検討を加えることにより単独浴との構造学的な差異,マクロな性質の相違など,溶融塩浴そのものに関する重要な情報が得られた。

The surface tensions of molten binary PrCl3–NaCl, PrCl3–KCl, and PrCl3–CaCl2 systems were measured by a maximum bubble pressure method, and the results were expressed as linear functions of the temperature. The isotherms of surface tension of the PrCl3–MCl (M=Na and K) systems had minimum; however, such behavior was not observed in the isotherm of the PrCl3–CaCl system.

The structure of molten LiF–KF equimolar mixture at 545 °C was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. From the analysis of RDF, the nearest neighbour distance and coordination number of Li+–F− pair in the mixture were found to be 1.85 A and 3.0, respectively.
