On the route of the II Turkish Antarctic Expedition (TAE-II) in the NW of the continent of Antarctica, twelve grab sediment samples were been collected from seven different locations at depths of -20 and -60 m between King George and Horseshoe islands in NW Antarctica. The collected samples consist of greenish gray silty clay and fine sandy silt, as well as brownish gray sandy silty clay units containing fine gravel grains. In the Hovgaard and Horseshoe islands, six genera and six species of ostracods were identified: Copytus caligula Skogsberg, Austrotrachyleberis antarctica (Neale), Australicy there devexa (Muller), Cativella bensoni Neale, Cytheropteron acuticaudatum Hartmann and Loxoreticulatum fallax (Maller). The species are cryophilic endemic ostracods. When the fossil and current findings are compared, Austrotrachyleberis antarctica, which has been known since the Oligocene, migrated from Antarctica to South America and Cativella bensoni migrated from South America to Antarctica.

Antarktika Kıtası’nın kuzeybatısında gerçekleştirilen II. Türk Antarktika Sefereri (TAE-II) rotası üzerinde King George ve Horseshoe adaları arasında, -20 ile -60 m derinliklerde yedi ayrı lokasyondan 12 adet kepçe numunesi alınmıştır. Derlenen örnekler, yeşilimsi gri renkli siltli kil ve ince kumlu silt, kahverengimsi gri renkli, ince çakıl taneleri içeren kumlu siltli kil birimlerinden oluşmaktadır.Hovgaard ve Horseshoe adaları örneklerinde ostrakodlardan altı cins ve altı tür tanımlanmıştır: Copytus caligula Skogsberg, Austrotrachyleberis antarctica (Neale), Australicythere devexa (Müller), Cativella bensoni Neale, Cytheropteron acuticaudatum Hartmann ve Loxoreticulatum fallax (Müller). Bulunan türler kriyofilik endemik ostrakodlardır. Kılıç, Ali Murat (Balikesir Author), Sivas güneydoğusunda yapılan önceki çalışmalarda bölgede yüzeyleyen platform karbonatları farklı ad ve yaşlarla verilmiştir. Bu çalışmada ise bölgede yüzeyleyen platform karbonatlarının, içerdiği fosillere {Auloconus permodiscoides, Aulotortus communis, A.friedli, A. sinuosussinuosus, Triasina hantkeni, Trochammina sp. aff. T. alpina, T. sp. aff. T.jaunensis) dayanarak Noriyen-Resiyen yaşlı düzeyler de kapsadığı ortaya konmuştur. Munzur ve Sivas bölgelerinin korelâsyonu ile bu kireçtaşları Munzur Kireçtaşı'na dahil edilmiştir., The platform carbonates cropping out to the southest of Sivas are named under different litostratigraphic names and assigned to different ages. In this study, according to foraminifers (Auloconus permodiscoides, Aulotortus communis, A.friedli, A. sinuosus sinuosus, Triasina hantkeni, Trochammina sp. aff. T. alpina, T. sp. aff; T.jaunensis), a Norian-Rhaetian age was discovered in this carbonate succession. The correlation of Munzur and Sivas sections suggests that these carbonates should be named as the Munzur Limestone.
