Wastewater treatment systems are essential in the control of environmental pollution. Developments in this regard have been directed towards an optimization technology which emulates processes that occur daily in nature. Within these systems are digesters that treat wastewater from anaerobic organic degradation processes of various kinds, making possible to achieve a complete stabilization of waste material, a degree of consolidation in the treated water and the generation of products such as fuel bio-gas and fertilizers. Having recorded the construction of a "Chinese" type biodigester in a community located at Kilometer 49 of the Municipality of Alberto Adriani in Merida State, Venezuela, a standardized model for a rural digester called "COPROCTOR" was developed. This latter increases the efficiency of these systems in terms of fabrication, installation and operation, propounding the industrialization of this kind of technologies. Addressing the development of the product as a system and stemming from a comparison of existing solutions and the use of a PVC commercial profile suitable for this purpose, "COPROCTOR" with all its components was designed, including a bio-filter to increase its efficiency. This new bio-digester was tested through experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
